Chapter 35: She Was Restrained and Controlled by Wen Mingzhi
As soon as she saw Wen Mingzhi, Zhou Tian immediately wanted to leave.
She had only accepted the invitation after confirming with Fei Xing’en and Xu Baiqiu in advance that Wen Mingzhi would not be attending.
But of course—she still ran into her.
And on top of that, Lu Ningyue was here too.
Lu Ningyue showing up with Wen Mingzhi—what was that supposed to mean?
Wen Mingzhi frowned and looked toward the suddenly appearing Lu Ningyue.
“What are you doing here?” She tilted slightly to the side, brows tightly furrowed.
“President Wen… I just happened to see you and wanted to say hello,” Lu Ningyue replied with a beaming smile.
She had asked the staff and knew there were only a few people in this private room. With Wen Mingzhi attending, this might be the perfect opportunity for a ‘coincidental’ encounter. But what she didn’t expect was that Zhou Tian would be here too.
Hadn’t Zhou Tian completely cut ties with Wen Mingzhi? Why was she now having dinner with her?
Lu Ningyue maintained her smile, but her clenched fists betrayed her thoughts. She silently cursed Zhou Tian as a two-faced hypocrite.
“You can leave,” Wen Mingzhi said coldly, eyes narrowed with irritation, her entire presence exuding overwhelming pressure.
Lu Ningyue’s smile faltered, looking a bit embarrassed. “President Wen…”
“Xiao Chen,” Wen Mingzhi said in a cold voice, striding straight toward the dining table.
Assistant Chen immediately stepped forward to escort Lu Ningyue out.
Zhou Tian had originally planned to leave with Xia Ruo. But now, with this scene unfolding, she suddenly changed her mind.
“Since you’re already here, Lu Ningyue, why don’t you join us?” Zhou Tian sneered with a mocking smile tugging at her lips.
“Tian Tian!” Xia Ruo frowned slightly, clearly confused.
“Uh…” Fei Xing’en glanced back and forth, unsure of what to do, and looked toward Wen Mingzhi.
Xu Baiqiu, on the other hand, leaned back in her chair with arms crossed, watching the drama unfold with an amused smile.
Wen Mingzhi looked up, visibly stunned, her brow tightening. She couldn’t tell what Zhou Tian meant by her comment.
“President Wen, since we’re all here, right?” Zhou Tian smiled, a hint of provocation and veiled threat in her expression—as if daring Wen Mingzhi to disagree, ready to walk out the next second if she did.
Lu Ningyue had already stepped aside, but seeing a chance to stay, she quickly sat down at the table, worried she’d be thrown out otherwise.
“Zhou Tian, what have you been up to lately? We haven’t seen each other in so long,” Lu Ningyue quickly latched onto Zhou Tian with a cheerful tone.
Zhou Tian arched her brows and smiled coldly. “You probably know very well why we haven’t.”
“Cough… Zhou Tian, you’ve just been busy lately. Aren’t you filming that dating show?” Lu Ningyue tried to steer the conversation away, still smiling.
Wen Mingzhi, seated across from Zhou Tian, remained silent, slowly turning the wine glass in her hand.
The moment she heard the words “dating show,” her hand stopped for ten whole seconds.
“Yeah? What—want to join too? I could recommend you,” Zhou Tian replied with a bright smile.
Fei Xing’en looked flustered—this was not how she imagined things would go.
She had envisioned a warm reunion between Wen Mingzhi and Zhou Tian, maybe rekindling some feelings. Instead, it had become a battlefield between Lu Ningyue and Zhou Tian, thick with tension and veiled barbs.
And Wen Mingzhi? She didn’t seem to want to interfere at all. Was she… enjoying this?
“Mingzhi,” Xu Baiqiu said flatly.
Wen Mingzhi’s expression had visibly softened. Her previously cold and fierce phoenix eyes were now gentler, and the corner of her lips twitched several times, unable to suppress the smile—even if fleeting.
“Let’s eat,” Wen Mingzhi said calmly, her expression unreadable as she raised her gaze directly at Zhou Tian.
So sharp-tongued. She wasn’t the gentle, cute girl she used to be.
Clearly, she still cared—she was jealous. That’s why she was sparring with Lu Ningyue now, wasn’t it?
A flicker of secret joy rose in Wen Mingzhi’s heart.
“No need. I’ve been busy too,” Lu Ningyue said softly, glancing flirtatiously at Wen Mingzhi as if trying to imply something.
“That’s good. Busy is good,” Zhou Tian replied lazily, as if she hadn’t noticed a thing.
Wen Mingzhi’s lips pressed into a thin line. Her heart sank with every word.
Was Zhou Tian encouraging her to be with Lu Ningyue?
Did she truly hate her this much?
“…”
Under the table, Xia Ruo had tugged on Zhou Tian’s sleeve, hoping to pull her away. But after seeing Lu Ningyue’s performative behavior, she decided to stay.
This woman really had some nerve… Lu Ningyue was just—
“Lu Ningyue, I hope you stay busy forever. Treasure it. Who knows when it’ll all be gone?” Xia Ruo shot her a vicious glare.
Why didn’t she see Lu Ningyue’s true nature earlier?
“I will. Thanks for the advice,” Lu Ningyue replied confidently.
“President Wen, you better treat our dear Lu Ningyue well,” Zhou Tian chimed in sarcastically, just to disgust her.
“Why?” Wen Mingzhi responded lightly, then curved her lips into a smile, gazing at Zhou Tian. Her icy demeanor melted, and she softened noticeably.
Her skin glowed pale and smooth, her lips painted red and curled in a faint smile. Her long, alluring phoenix eyes lifted slightly, seductive and entrancing—fixed entirely on Zhou Tian.
Zhou Tian quickly looked away, staring down at her utensils.
The elegant private room fell into silence, tension and unease hanging in the air—mixed with a strange, ambiguous undercurrent.
Fei Xing’en blinked hard, holding back laughter, glancing between the two women.
She even exchanged a look with the smiling Xu Baiqiu beside her.
It seemed this strategy might actually be working.
But the atmosphere was quickly shattered—by none other than Lu Ningyue.
She clutched the edge of her dress tightly, smiling sweetly but seething inside. Still, she said politely, “Thank you, but I’ll take care of myself. No need to trouble President Wen.”
Xia Ruo inhaled sharply, holding back curses.
Zhou Tian rolled her eyes. Lu Ningyue was really putting on a show—disgusting.
“Oh~” Fei Xing’en let out a surprised sound and quickly covered her mouth, afraid of interrupting.
“What’s it got to do with me?” Wen Mingzhi said coldly, not even sparing her a glance.
Her eyes never once left Zhou Tian—staring, intense, unwavering.
Zhou Tian looked down, her lips curling into a smirk.
Xia Ruo beside her tried not to burst out laughing.
Lu Ningyue’s expression was grim now—her fake smile barely hanging on.
With someone like her around, even Wen Mingzhi didn’t seem quite so bad. Xia Ruo thought to herself.
Soon, the waitstaff came in to serve the food.
The atmosphere eased a little, but only Lu Ningyue kept her fake smile while gripping her chopsticks tightly, a flash of malice in her eyes.
“Zhou Tian, eat up. The food here at Xu Baiqiu’s place is amazing,” Fei Xing’en said as she picked up her chopsticks.
But before she could reach the dish, Wen Mingzhi turned the lazy Susan, spinning a plate of sweet and sour pork directly in front of Zhou Tian.
“Tian Tian… eat this,” Wen Mingzhi said with a gentle smile—her voice so soft it didn’t sound like her.
It was the first time she called her “Tian Tian,” and Wen Mingzhi seemed a little shy about it. Her eyelashes lowered slightly to hide her fluster.
Zhou Tian shivered. What’s wrong with her? Did she take the wrong meds today?
Still, it was her favorite dish, bright in color and delicious in aroma.
After a moment of inner struggle, Zhou Tian spun the lazy Susan again. “President Wen, just call me Zhou Tian. We’re not that close.”
Her tone was cold and distant. Wen Mingzhi’s smile disappeared instantly.
Fei Xing’en had just aimed for the garlic greens, but it was gone before she could grab it.
“Eat up, everyone,” she said quickly, holding the table steady.
“Yes, President Wen, try this,” Lu Ningyue said, putting a piece of cumin rib into Wen Mingzhi’s bowl.
Clack—Wen Mingzhi set her chopsticks down.
“Lu Ningyue, if you don’t want to eat, get out.” Her tone was icy.
“S-Sorry, President Wen, I’m sorry.” Lu Ningyue bowed her head repeatedly.
“Stay away from me,” Wen Mingzhi frowned, then called out, “Xiao Chen, switch seats with her.”
Soon, Lu Ningyue and Assistant Chen swapped seats, and Wen Mingzhi took a new set of utensils.
Lu Ningyue clenched her chopsticks, forcing herself to act calm. But her eyes glinted with hatred.
Just wait. She’d get her revenge.
If it weren’t for her current plans, she would never tolerate such humiliation.
Zhou Tian—let’s see how long you’ll laugh.
Wen Mingzhi—you’ll be begging me to mark you one day.
“…”
The atmosphere dropped to freezing again. No one spoke, quietly eating their meals.
Fei Xing’en occasionally glanced around, while Xu Baiqiu seemed lost in thought, staring at Wen Mingzhi.
Assistant Chen stayed quiet, praying Zhou Tian wouldn’t provoke President Wen anymore.
Lu Ningyue kept smiling, fake as ever.
Xia Ruo rolled her eyes, snorted at Lu Ningyue, and kept serving Zhou Tian food, glaring at Wen Mingzhi from time to time.
Zhou Tian calmly ate, deliberately avoiding the dishes Wen Mingzhi pushed her way—and pretending not to see her intense gaze.
Wen Mingzhi barely ate, elegantly turning her chopsticks, occasionally looking at Zhou Tian.
Zhou Tian finally looked up to choose a dish, only to feel that burning gaze again.
Was she not going to eat? Why stare at her the whole time?
The persistent, sharp gaze made Zhou Tian increasingly uncomfortable.
Finally, she stood. “Everyone continue. I need to use the restroom.”
Xia Ruo wanted to follow but didn’t get a signal from Zhou Tian, so she stayed put.
Outside the private room, Zhou Tian exhaled deeply. She should have just left the moment she saw Wen Mingzhi. Staying had been a mistake.
Back inside, Wen Mingzhi also rose. “I’ll go to the restroom too.”
But before she could leave—
“I’ll come too,” said both Xia Ruo and Lu Ningyue.
Fei Xing’en dropped her steak in surprise and quickly wiped her mouth. “Then I’ll go too.”
This was going to be interesting, and she didn’t want to miss it.
Wen Mingzhi halted and gave them a cold look.
“You all stay and eat.”
“Got it, President Wen,” Lu Ningyue sat down obediently.
Xia Ruo hesitated, then sat too.
Fei Xing’en also pouted and returned to her seat.
Lu Ningyue had hoped to take action while the others were gone, but with everyone still present, she had to suppress her thoughts.
“…”
Leaning against the hallway wall, Wen Mingzhi waited for Zhou Tian, eyes lowered in thought, her aura cold and refined. Passing alphas kept stealing glances at her.
When Zhou Tian appeared, Wen Mingzhi smiled faintly. “Tian Tian.”
Zhou Tian frowned. “President Wen.”
Was she afraid Zhou Tian would slip away?
“Tian Tian, you don’t like that dish?” Wen Mingzhi asked softly.
“I do. I just don’t like you,” Zhou Tian replied bluntly.
Wen Mingzhi’s smile vanished. Her eyes darkened.
She immediately stepped forward and tightly grabbed her hand.
“Tian Tian, can you not speak to me like that?” Wen Mingzhi lowered her gaze, her eyes reddening, voice weak and pitiful.
“Let go of me!” Zhou Tian tried to struggle free, but she couldn’t break away. Why was an Omega this strong?
“No.” Wen Mingzhi stepped closer, caging Zhou Tian in her arms.
Zhou Tian turned her head away. Her back was pressed against the cold wall—no escape.
“Can’t you just smile at me once?” Wen Mingzhi murmured, trembling slightly.
Every time they met recently, Zhou Tian was cold, distant, wouldn’t even look at her.
She’d had enough—enough of her absence, her icy words, her smiling at other Omegas.
“President Wen, we’re over,” Zhou Tian said coldly, looking away.
“Over? Zhou Tian, I haven’t agreed to that,” Wen Mingzhi stepped closer, eyes glowing with obsession.
Her soft voice shifted into something darker, threatening.
“You need to let go,” Zhou Tian muttered, avoiding her gaze. “You’ll find a better Alpha.”
“No. Never. I only want you,” Wen Mingzhi leaned in, lips almost touching her cheek.
“I refuse.” Zhou Tian frowned, pushing at her, but she couldn’t break free.
“Refuse?” Wen Mingzhi’s voice turned playful, laced with menace.
She pinned Zhou Tian, eyes like a predator locking onto prey.
“Well then,” she said, before kissing her forcefully.
Zhou Tian was stunned for a second before she began to struggle violently. Her hands pushed frantically against Wen Mingzhi’s shoulders, but the other woman didn’t budge.
“Wen Mingzhi, let me go!” she cried out, furiously resisting. She turned her head, gritted her teeth, and bit hard on Wen Mingzhi’s lower lip.
The sharp pain made Wen Mingzhi freeze.
But she didn’t retreat.
Instead, she deepened the kiss.
Zhou Tian felt like her air was being stolen. Her eyes widened, her heart pounding like thunder in her chest. Her entire body tensed, but her strength was no match for Wen Mingzhi’s tight grip.
Wen Mingzhi held her firmly, forcing her body closer, her voice trembling: “I miss you, Tian Tian… Every single day.”
Zhou Tian was so angry her eyes turned red. “Let me go!”
She shoved hard at her chest again, but Wen Mingzhi easily caught both her wrists and pinned them against the wall.
“Don’t struggle,” Wen Mingzhi murmured, her voice low, hoarse, and dangerously close to losing control. “I don’t want to hurt you, but if you keep pushing me away…”
Zhou Tian stared at her, lips swollen, chest heaving. “You’re crazy.”
“Yes,” Wen Mingzhi answered softly, her eyes filled with a disturbing tenderness. “I’m crazy—crazy about you.”
She leaned in again.
Zhou Tian turned her face away, trembling, refusing to meet her gaze.
She never thought Wen Mingzhi would become like this. She used to be cold, arrogant, and distant—never this unhinged.
“Tian Tian,” Wen Mingzhi whispered into her ear, her breath warm against her neck. “I’ve already lost you once. I won’t let it happen again.”
“You don’t get to decide that,” Zhou Tian snapped back, her voice shaking.
Wen Mingzhi suddenly took a step back and grabbed Zhou Tian’s hand.
“Come with me.”
“I’m not going anywhere with you!”
But before she could shake her off, Wen Mingzhi had already dragged her out of the hallway.
“Let me go! Wen Mingzhi, you’re insane!” Zhou Tian struggled fiercely.
Wen Mingzhi didn’t say a word. She held on tightly and pulled her straight toward the elevator. Her expression was eerily calm—like she had already planned this a thousand times in her head.
The elevator doors opened.
Zhou Tian tried to run, but Wen Mingzhi easily restrained her with one arm, pulling her close into the elevator before the doors closed again.
Her assistant, Xiao Chen, was already there, waiting in the car outside.
When he saw President Wen dragging Zhou Tian out of the elevator with such force, he looked startled.
“President Wen…”
“Drive.”
“Yes—yes, ma’am!”
Zhou Tian was forced into the car, struggling non-stop.
She tried to open the door, but the child lock was already on. She turned to Wen Mingzhi. “You’ve lost your mind. This is illegal detainment! Do you hear yourself?”
Wen Mingzhi sat beside her, silent, breathing slightly heavy. Her hand clutched Zhou Tian’s tightly.
“Tian Tian, you hate me that much?” she asked, voice shaking.
“Yes,” Zhou Tian said coldly.
Wen Mingzhi’s fingers trembled. “I don’t believe you.”
“Then you’re delusional,” Zhou Tian snapped.
Wen Mingzhi laughed—a soft, low chuckle. “Then let me keep being delusional. As long as I can keep you by my side… even just for a little longer.”
Zhou Tian looked at her as if seeing a stranger.
The car stopped in front of a private villa.
Zhou Tian shook her head, resisting again. “I’m not going in.”
But Wen Mingzhi was already out of the car. She opened the door on Zhou Tian’s side and bent down, her voice low but firm: “You have two choices—walk in, or I carry you in.”
Zhou Tian’s heart pounded.
“You wouldn’t dare.”
Wen Mingzhi didn’t answer.
Instead, she reached down, and before Zhou Tian could react, she lifted her off the seat.
“Put me down!” Zhou Tian screamed, punching and kicking.
But Wen Mingzhi carried her inside with barely any effort, not letting go even when Zhou Tian slammed her fists into her shoulder.
Inside the villa, the lights were warm and soft, the air smelling faintly of jasmine—Zhou Tian’s favorite.
She was thrown onto the couch. Her breathing was fast and shallow, eyes glaring at the woman in front of her.
Wen Mingzhi stood there, her chest rising and falling, staring at her like she was the only thing in the world.
“I’m not letting you go again.”
Zhou Tian clenched her fists. “You already lost me, Wen Mingzhi.”
“No. I still remember that night—you looked at me with eyes full of love. You said you wanted to be with me forever,” she whispered, stepping closer.
“That was before you destroyed everything,” Zhou Tian hissed.
Wen Mingzhi’s expression twisted slightly. “I’ll fix it.”
“It’s too late.”
“I don’t care. As long as you’re still breathing, I’ll find a way.”
Zhou Tian stared at her. Her heart felt like it was being crushed.
Wen Mingzhi slowly knelt in front of her.
“I’ll wait. However long it takes. Even if you hate me.”
Zhou Tian’s body stiffened. Her lips trembled, but she bit down hard to keep from saying anything.
She couldn’t cry.
She couldn’t soften—not now.
But her heart hurt so badly, she could barely breathe.
“I’ll wait… and I won’t let anyone else have you,” Wen Mingzhi added softly.
Zhou Tian shut her eyes tightly.
She didn’t want to see that look in her eyes again.
That terrifying, tender, obsessive look—like she was the center of Wen Mingzhi’s entire universe.
But it wasn’t love.
It was madness.
And she was trapped inside it.
