Chapter 37: My Girlfriend.
Zhou Tian involuntarily swallowed and slowly turned around.
Wen Mingzhi stood calmly at the doorway, the corners of her lips slightly upturned in a faint smile. Yet her eyes were shrouded in a stormy gloom, exuding a cold and commanding aura that made her seem terrifying.
Zhou Tian glanced at her a few times, feeling a little guilty.
Wen Mingzhi’s expression was very unpleasant—things were probably about to go downhill.
“What a coincidence, you’re out admiring the moon too?” Zhou Tian said softly, casually coming up with an excuse.
Wen Mingzhi looked up at the sky—thick clouds were drifting by. There wasn’t even a trace of moonlight.
“Admiring the moon?” Wen Mingzhi chuckled coldly.
“Yes, I couldn’t sleep and came out for a walk,” Zhou Tian continued trying to explain.
“Heh. Alright…” Wen Mingzhi nodded with a smile. “Then let’s walk together.” She slowly began walking toward her.
Wen Mingzhi was wearing a silk nightgown, smooth and luxurious, exuding an air of elegance and nobility. She walked toward her step by step, graceful and reserved. Her long, glossy black hair cascaded down her chest, adding an intellectual charm. It was like she was strutting on a runway—every move radiated refinement and sophistication.
As Wen Mingzhi approached, Zhou Tian subconsciously stepped back a little.
Although Wen Mingzhi was smiling, all Zhou Tian could feel was a cold, ruthless pressure, as if the next moment this woman would snap and tie her up with something.
“What are you backing away for?” Wen Mingzhi snapped coldly, her sharp phoenix eyes filled with dark, turbulent emotions, as deep and endless as black holes—just looking into them sent chills down Zhou Tian’s spine.
Just one night and Zhou Tian was already racking her brain trying to escape. Now that she saw her again, she still wanted to run. Was Wen Mingzhi really that terrifying to her?
Her eyes slowly reddened.
She was in her heat period. For days, she’d been following Dr. Guan’s instructions to reduce her use of suppressant pheromones. But it was unbearable. Her body burned and ached, like something was boiling inside, screaming for her to find an alpha—craving desperately to be marked.
She’d been suffering alone in her room, unable to sleep, yet the alpha she was holding herself back from touching—had been planning an escape.
Zhou Tian really was something.
Wen Mingzhi stared fiercely at the person in front of her, like a predator on the savannah locking onto her prey, ready to pounce at any moment.
Zhou Tian frowned as she sensed Wen Mingzhi getting closer—the rich scent of violet pheromones was thick in the air, sweet and intense, closing in on her.
So she took another half-step back.
But Wen Mingzhi suddenly spoke, and her harsh tone gave Zhou Tian a fright. She stumbled back again.
“Why are you backing away?” Wen Mingzhi grabbed her arm.
Zhou Tian gasped in surprise, her brows knitting tightly.
When she looked up again, Wen Mingzhi’s tense face suddenly loomed closer.
Her pale and refined face was tinged with a faint blush, her brows tightly furrowed, and her long, narrow phoenix eyes swirled with a stormy haze, tinged red at the corners.
Zhou Tian turned her head to the side without saying anything.
The intense violet pheromone scent enveloped her, trapping her tightly.
Zhou Tian’s brows furrowed—but there was nowhere left to run.
“Didn’t I say to behave and be obedient?” Wen Mingzhi’s other hand had wrapped around her waist, cold and snake-like, tightening with no intention of letting go.
“Then when are you going to let me go? Tomorrow?” Zhou Tian glared at her, defiant.
Wen Mingzhi didn’t want to see that look in her eyes—full of annoyance and rejection. She suddenly pulled her into her arms and held her tightly.
Zhou Tian struggled hard. The searing heat radiating off Wen Mingzhi’s body confirmed it—she was definitely in heat. Zhou Tian instinctively thought: I need to get away from her!
But Wen Mingzhi had one hand wrapped tightly around her waist, the other gripping the back of her head. Zhou Tian was completely pinned against her, unable to resist.
With her alpha in her arms, Wen Mingzhi felt much better. The agitation in her body began to ease. She vaguely caught a faint scent of cherry blossoms.
She couldn’t resist burying her face in Zhou Tian’s neck, breathing in her sweet scent deeply.
That sweet cherry blossom aroma soothed her mind and cooled her temper. After a moment, she whispered softly, almost inaudibly, “Tian Tian, will you mark me?”
It took Zhou Tian a second to process what she had just said. Her face changed instantly and she refused without hesitation: “No.”
Wen Mingzhi didn’t get angry. She had expected that answer.
“Wen Mingzhi, let me go!” Zhou Tian fought harder, pushing at Wen Mingzhi’s waist and stomach to create distance between them.
Their bodies were pressed together, and through the thin fabric, Zhou Tian could feel the searing softness of her. Her ears reddened.
Finally, Wen Mingzhi dropped a kiss at the corner of her lips and let her go.
“Go back to sleep.” Wen Mingzhi pulled her inside.
Zhou Tian followed reluctantly.
Wen Mingzhi led her up to the third floor. “You can sleep here,” she said, gesturing to the sofa in the bedroom.
She even pulled out a soft beige handwoven wool blanket and placed it at the foot of the bed.
“…” Zhou Tian stood there blankly, lost in thought.
“What? Want to sleep with me instead?” Wen Mingzhi asked with a teasing smile.
Zhou Tian immediately grabbed the blanket and obediently sat on the sofa.
As expected, the entire bedroom was filled with the rich scent of violet pheromones. It wrapped around her, entered her lungs, seeped into her body.
Zhou Tian licked her lips. Her ears, hidden under her long hair, began to heat up and turn red.
She looked up at Wen Mingzhi. The other woman was sipping water, her slender neck exposed, throat bobbing gently. Her delicate collarbones looked like fluttering butterflies, peeking through the neckline.
“Tian Tian, what’s wrong?” Wen Mingzhi smiled charmingly, her long eyes curving downward with warmth and a hint of playful flirtation. The cold pride had vanished, replaced by something far more alluring.
Zhou Tian quickly averted her eyes and ignored her. She pulled the blanket over herself, lay down on the sofa, and closed her eyes.
Wen Mingzhi watched her for a moment, then lay down in bed herself.
The lights in the room went out, and even the garden outside was dark. In the silence, they could hear each other’s breathing.
Zhou Tian gradually let her guard down. It seemed Wen Mingzhi really did just want to sleep. After a long, exhausting night, Zhou Tian drifted into a deep slumber.
When she woke up in the morning, the first thing she saw was Wen Mingzhi’s face.
She jolted awake with a start.
“Morning, Tian Tian,” Wen Mingzhi smiled gently, her features soft and pleasant.
Zhou Tian frowned, confused.
“Get up. It’s about time for lunch,” Wen Mingzhi said with a sweet tone, her long eyes twinkling with playful mischief.
Zhou Tian ran her fingers through her hair and went to the bathroom without a word.
Even during lunch, Zhou Tian remained cold toward her. But Wen Mingzhi’s face still held that gentle smile—so warm it didn’t even feel like her.
That smile gave Zhou Tian the creeps. She grew anxious. Was Wen Mingzhi up to something?
But after the meal, Wen Mingzhi suddenly said calmly, “Later, I’ll take you back.”
“Really?” Zhou Tian looked at her suspiciously, full of doubt.
“Really.” Wen Mingzhi nodded. “Tian Tian, then will you give me a smile?” Her voice was soft and humble, tinged with a rare vulnerability.
Zhou Tian looked up at her in disbelief—was this really the same Wen Mingzhi?
Though she said nothing, the astonished look on her face made Wen Mingzhi’s lips curl upward. Her eyes gleamed with tenderness.
Looks like it worked. Tian Tian responded well to this.
Assistant Chen entered the living room and was greeted by a strange scene:
Zhou Tian was subtly leaning away from Wen Mingzhi, while Wen Mingzhi beamed at her, her eyes filled with warmth and affection, even a touch of indulgence—as if coaxing an angry girlfriend.
Assistant Chen blinked in surprise. It seemed the two had made up? Could it be that last night…?
“Alright, Tian Tian. Let’s go,” Wen Mingzhi gently tugged her sleeve.
Zhou Tian didn’t respond, simply walked ahead.
The two sat together in the back seat, while Assistant Chen took the front.
Along the way, Wen Mingzhi acted like a curious kitten—tugging at Zhou Tian’s sleeve, brushing her arm… all of which Zhou Tian impatiently brushed away.
Undeterred, Wen Mingzhi reached up and gently tucked her hair behind her ear.
“President Wen,” Zhou Tian finally couldn’t take it and spoke.
“Yes, Tian Tian?” Wen Mingzhi replied with a soft smile, her long eyes curving gently.
“Don’t touch me,” Zhou Tian shot her a cold look.
“Hmm?” Wen Mingzhi’s melodic voice lilted upward with amusement.
Zhou Tian huffed and turned to stare out the window, refusing to say more.
Wen Mingzhi settled down, but instead stared at her unabashedly.
Zhou Tian sighed and turned to face her. “President Wen?”
“Tian Tian, what’s wrong?” Wen Mingzhi smiled innocently. “Do you want some water?” She handed over a bottle of spring water.
Zhou Tian took the bottle, stunned. She lowered her head in thought—Wen Mingzhi’s behavior today was strange. Completely out of character. What was she planning?
Before she could figure it out, they arrived at the Sunshine Happiness Community. Zhou Tian immediately got out of the car and walked inside—still holding the bottle Wen Mingzhi had given her.
“Tian Tian, see you,” Wen Mingzhi waved and drove off.
So weird.
Zhou Tian couldn’t make sense of it, so she shoved it to the back of her mind and rushed home to find Sister Xia.
Sister Xia must’ve been worried sick.
Zhou Tian was stunned.
Not just her—everyone around them was frozen in disbelief.
Even the guests nearby and a few hidden media reporters stood motionless, shocked by what they’d just heard.
She… what did she just say?
“My girlfriend.”
That wasn’t some flippant joke. The tone she used—calm, natural, and tinged with possessiveness—was unmistakable. Her voice was clear and unwavering, like she was making an official announcement.
Zhou Tian stared at Wen Mingzhi in astonishment, completely thrown off.
“You’re joking, right?!” she instinctively blurted out, panic creeping into her voice.
But Wen Mingzhi was perfectly composed. She looked at her with a faint smile, eyes filled with warmth and unshakable conviction.
“I’m not joking,” she said softly, yet her tone left no room for doubt.
“You’re my girlfriend. Of course you are.”
“Wen Zong, you—”
Zhou Tian tried to object again, but Wen Mingzhi silenced her with just a look.
That look carried too much—serenity, heat, determination… and a trace of hurt.
Zhou Tian’s heart skipped a beat.
She opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but couldn’t find the words.
Whispers were already spreading around them—
“Wen Zong and Zhou Tian… is it actually real?”
“So the rumors were true all along?”
“No way. I thought Wen Zong was with Lu Ning Le…”
Standing at the edge of the crowd, Lu Ning Le’s face went pale.
She clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms.
“She’s just saying that out of spite…” she mumbled, as if trying to convince herself.
But no matter what she told herself, Wen Mingzhi was still standing beside Zhou Tian, with no intention of hiding anything, completely unashamed in front of everyone.
“Tian Tian,” Wen Mingzhi called to her softly, her eyes gentle. “From now on, I won’t pressure you again. I won’t use underhanded means. But I also won’t take a single step back.”
“I’ll wait for you,” she said quietly. “No matter how long it takes.”
And with that, she took a step back, bowed slightly, then turned and walked away from the scene.
Gasps rippled through the crowd.
But her posture was tall and composed, her steps steady—there wasn’t a hint of hesitation.
Zhou Tian stood rooted in place, her mind blank.
Her heart was pounding, an emotion she couldn’t name churning in her chest.
“Tian Tian…” Liang Xirui called to her softly.
Only then did Zhou Tian snap out of it.
“Let’s go,” she said in a low voice, turning and walking in the opposite direction.
But in her mind, those three words kept echoing.
“My girlfriend.”
