Chapter 38: Disgusting? Just Wait Until You’re On Your Knees Begging Me To Mark You
As soon as Zhou Tian heard those words, her brows furrowed. “President Wen, please don’t say such things.”
“What do you mean, your girlfriend? President Wen, your girlfriend Lü Ningyue is over there,” Liang Xirui quickly frowned and pointed toward Lü Ningyue in the distance.
Holding a piece of chocolate, Wen Qingying paused in shock, staring at the group in disbelief.
“Is that so?” Wen Mingzhi said calmly, though a flicker of something unreadable passed through her eyes.
“Ah, Mingzhi! So you were here!” Fei Xing’en and Xu Baiqiu suddenly appeared without anyone noticing.
“Zhou Tian, you’re here too. Long time no see.” Fei Xing’en beamed.
“Long time no see.” Zhou Tian gave a small smile and turned to her, a warmth in her tone completely absent when she faced Wen Mingzhi earlier.
The smile on Wen Mingzhi’s lips faltered, the brightness in her eyes dimming significantly.
Her Tian Tian was really treating people differently.
“Liang Xirui, you’re here too?” Fei Xing’en’s eyes lit up instantly.
“Hello, Miss Fei.” Although they’d met at a few social events, Liang Xirui wasn’t familiar with her.
Fei Xing’en looked her up and down curiously like she was some novelty. So this is the so-called little demon? Doesn’t seem that scary.
“Mingzhi, you didn’t even tell us you were coming. If it weren’t for Situ Yujia mentioning it, we wouldn’t have known.” Fei Xing’en sounded mildly annoyed.
As if on cue, a familiar figure approached behind them.
“Mingzhi, what a coincidence. Mr. Liang is here too,” Situ Yujia greeted them with a smile.
“Just arrived,” Xu Baiqiu said blandly.
“Hm? What’s going on here? Why’s everyone gathered?” Situ Yujia asked with a soft smile, though her expression froze for a moment when her gaze landed on Zhou Tian.
She hadn’t expected to run into this little canary here. What was so special about her that Wen Mingzhi still couldn’t forget her?
Even though Zhou Tian was no longer by Wen Mingzhi’s side, she still lingered in her heart. She had wasted away over this girl…
Situ Yujia’s eyes darkened with complex thoughts.
“Ugh, just a bunch of old uncles and aunties,” Liang Xirui muttered and pulled Zhou Tian and Wen Qingying away. “Let’s go, let’s not interrupt their work talk.”
Zhou Tian had wanted to leave for a while now. Wen Mingzhi must have lost her mind again, suddenly declaring in front of everyone that she was her girlfriend!?
Wen Qingying quietly put down her chocolate and shrank behind them, not daring to say a word. The few people who had just arrived were prominent figures from the finance news — way out of reach for an entertainment world nobody like her.
Zhou Tian quickly followed Liang Xirui to leave.
But not long after, she sensed something strange. She glanced sideways and saw Wen Mingzhi following close behind, smiling brightly at her.
“President Wen, is there something you need?” Zhou Tian frowned.
“President Wen, can you stop bothering our Tian Tian?” Liang Xirui said angrily.
“What does this have to do with you?” Wen Mingzhi arched an eyebrow coldly at her. This Omega was always clinging to Zhou Tian like a buzzing fly — annoying.
“I’m Tian Tian’s friend. Why wouldn’t it have anything to do with me?” Liang Xirui raised her chin proudly.
“Liang Xirui!” Liang Liangjun’s voice rang out from behind in a reprimanding tone.
“Xirui, don’t mind her,” Zhou Tian pulled her back.
Zhou Tian looked deeply at Wen Mingzhi. Her round peach blossom eyes were cold, like a frozen lake in the dead of winter — no waves, just layers of frost, freezing everything in their path.
That gaze pierced straight into Wen Mingzhi’s heart and froze it in place — painfully so.
Zhou Tian didn’t even want to talk to her anymore.
Wen Mingzhi lowered her head slightly, the curve of her lips twisting into a bitter smile.
She turned and walked back toward her group of friends.
Fei Xing’en and Xu Baiqiu exchanged glances and shrugged helplessly. Zhou Tian now treated Mingzhi like a stranger — a stark contrast from before. There was nothing they could do.
Situ Yujia stepped forward. “Mingzhi, I heard you’ve quit smoking lately?” Her eyes flicked toward Zhou Tian’s back and her tone softened.
“More than that — she barely even drinks these days,” Fei Xing’en added with a smile.
Wen Mingzhi glanced coldly into the distance, then picked up a glass of champagne from a passing tray and took a sip.
She deliberately raised the glass and raised an eyebrow, as if to refute Fei Xing’en’s words.
Xu Baiqiu shrugged. “Looks like nothing’s changed.”
“Fine, let’s toast then!” Situ Yujia raised her glass, prompting everyone to join in.
Meanwhile, Zhou Tian and the others stood by the dessert table, chatting and laughing while holding small cakes.
“Ugh! Since when did Wen Mingzhi get so chummy with my brother?!” Liang Xirui fumed.
Zhou Tian nibbled at a soft cake and glanced toward Wen Mingzhi, who was now surrounded by a circle of business elites. She said nothing, deep in thought.
“It’s normal. Bigshots all know each other,” Wen Qingying said, blinking.
“No, they weren’t close before,” Liang Xirui frowned.
“Yeah, I never saw him around her before,” Zhou Tian added after wiping her hands.
“See! I told you.” Liang Xirui sighed.
“Forget it, let’s not talk about her.” Liang Xirui turned to look elsewhere.
Just then, a glamorous face suddenly appeared before them.
“Zhou Tian, Wen Qingying.” Bai Qianxue, in a striking red dress, looked radiant and commanding, exuding an aura that made her hard to approach despite turning heads.
“Ms. Bai, Teacher Xi Yiyun, hello.” Wen Qingying and Zhou Tian greeted them immediately.
Xi Yiyun, a senior singer, had first met them on the show Yuesheng.
“What are you all doing hiding here?” Bai Qianxue asked, handing a small cake to Xi Yiyun beside her.
“Nothing much. Didn’t expect to see you here. Is Sister Jin here too?” Zhou Tian asked.
“She’s over there.” Bai Qianxue pointed at Jin Jie, who was chatting away in the crowd.
“I heard you’ve been writing songs lately?” Xi Yiyun asked. “Want to collaborate sometime?” She smiled at Zhou Tian.
Without her usual glasses, Xi Yiyun’s aura felt softer and more refined — like a calming glass of water. Zhou Tian had always respected her — kind, professional, and incredibly talented.
“Of course! I’d love that,” Zhou Tian replied excitedly.
“You too, Wen Qingying. Your voice is a good fit,” Xi Yiyun added.
“Yes, thank you!” Wen Qingying quickly nodded.
Off to the side, amateur singer Liang Xirui couldn’t find a way into the conversation.
“And you? I don’t think I’ve seen you before,” Xi Yiyun asked.
“I’m new,” Liang Xirui said awkwardly. Truthfully, she was just a tag-along.
“No worries. Keep working at it,” Xi Yiyun gave a faint smile.
Then Bai Qianxue and Xi Yiyun left to mingle with other seniors.
Zhou Tian and Wen Qingying also greeted familiar mentors from time to time.
But when they finally found a place to sit and rest, a familiar figure sat down directly across from Zhou Tian.
“Zhou Tian, be smart and stay away from Mingzhi. Don’t hang around her, got it, little bird?” Situ Yujia sneered at her with a mocking smile.
“Who do you think you are? Our Tian Tian hanging around Wen Mingzhi? That’s a joke. Why don’t you tell Wen Mingzhi to leave us alone?” Liang Xirui shot back with a laugh of disbelief.
“Liang Xirui, no one asked for your opinion,” Situ Yujia scoffed, clearly looking down on her.
“Oh? And who do you think you are?” Liang Xirui sneered.
“Situ Yujia, don’t drag my friends into this!” Zhou Tian slammed her palm on the table and glared.
“Then remember this: stay away from Wen Mingzhi! The farther you are from A City, the better!”
“Situ Yujia, get this straight — it’s Wen Mingzhi who keeps bothering me! Tell her to stay away!” Zhou Tian shot back.
“And if you like her so much, why don’t you go after her? Why are you coming to me for attention? Oh, don’t tell me she rejected you?”
“Oof, how pitiful — you’ve been by her side so long and still just a ‘friend.’ Don’t even dare confess? Maybe she’s just pretending not to know. I mean, how much pull do you even have with her?” Zhou Tian lifted her chin with a cold smirk, ruthlessly stabbing at her weakness.
“You! Zhou Tian!” Furious, Situ Yujia grabbed a nearby wine glass and splashed it in Zhou Tian’s face.
“Remember this — stay away from Wen Mingzhi, or don’t blame me for what happens next!” With that, she turned and stormed off.
Everyone at the table froze for a beat, shocked by her outburst.
Liang Xirui immediately rushed to help Zhou Tian wipe her face. “Tian Tian, are you okay?”
“Situ Yujia, are you insane!?” she yelled after her, but the woman was already gone.
Wen Qingying’s face crumpled. “Your dress is soaked… This is bad… really bad…”
“…”
Meanwhile, Wen Mingzhi had just finished socializing and was walking alone, sipping a glass of champagne, her eyes scanning for Zhou Tian.
Lü Ningyue had been watching her for a while and now took her chance.
“President Wen, are you looking for Zhou Tian?” she asked sweetly, “She’s over there.”
Zhou Tian was joking with some other Omegas, smiling and even feeding Wen Qingying a piece of cake — looking very close.
Wen Mingzhi frowned. Does Zhou Tian not understand the boundary between A and O? This is clearly more than friendship…
Her grip on the champagne glass tightened.
“Leave,” she snapped coldly, eyes narrowing dangerously.
“President Wen, I just wanted to say hello…” Lü Ningyue bit her lip, pitifully.
“Don’t make me repeat myself. Get out.”
Wen Mingzhi turned to go.
But Lü Ningyue suddenly lunged at her, spilling the wine all over her white suit — a bright red stain spreading like bl00d.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to…” Lü Ningyue cried, reaching out as if to wipe it.
Wen Mingzhi dodged her. “Don’t touch me. Don’t ever appear in front of me again. Or else…”
Trembling, Lü Ningyue backed away.
Wen Mingzhi stormed off to the VIP room upstairs and called Assistant Chen to bring a change of clothes.
“…”
Just as Lu Ningyue sneered and raised the glass of wine in her hand—
Bang—
The door to the room was suddenly flung open.
A cold gust of wind rushed in, and standing at the door was Zhou Tian, panting slightly, her gaze landing directly on the disheveled Wen Mingzhi on the floor. Her expression instantly darkened.
“…Wen Mingzhi?” Her voice carried shock and disbelief.
The icy smell of wine, the broken glass shards scattered across the floor, the chaos in the room, and Wen Mingzhi’s flushed and trembling state all told her that something had gone terribly wrong.
Lu Ningyue’s smile froze.
Wen Mingzhi instinctively reached out toward Zhou Tian, her hoarse voice barely a whisper, “Tian Tian…”
Zhou Tian’s pupils constricted, and she rushed into the room without hesitation, yanking Lu Ningyue back with a powerful force and shielding Wen Mingzhi behind her.
“What are you doing?!” Zhou Tian’s voice was sharp and full of anger.
Lu Ningyue stumbled from the push, and the drugged wine glass in her hand dropped to the floor, shattering completely.
She looked at Zhou Tian in disbelief. “You… Why are you here?!”
Zhou Tian didn’t answer her. She turned back to Wen Mingzhi, who was clinging weakly to her arm, her breathing disordered, cheeks bright red, body drenched in sweat.
Zhou Tian immediately realized—this wasn’t just fever. It was a forced heat.
Zhou Tian’s gaze turned completely cold as she turned back to glare at Lu Ningyue. “What did you give her?!”
Lu Ningyue’s lips trembled, but she forced a laugh. “I… It was just a little help. She’s the one who’s an Omega. Isn’t this normal?”
“You’re insane.” Zhou Tian gritted her teeth.
She held Wen Mingzhi tightly in her arms. “I’ll make sure you regret this.”
“You think you can protect her?” Lu Ningyue shrieked, finally losing her composure. “She’s already like this—what can you do? You’re not even an Alpha!”
“No,” Zhou Tian interrupted, her voice steady and sharp, “but I’d rather die than let her be tainted by a lunatic like you.”
Zhou Tian looked around, saw the emergency phone by the bed, and immediately grabbed it. “This is VIP lounge 312—there’s been an incident. Lock the entire third floor down. Bring medics and security. Now.”
Lu Ningyue panicked. “You can’t! If this gets out, I’ll—”
“Then pray it never does,” Zhou Tian said coldly.
She turned back to Wen Mingzhi, carefully brushing the sweat-soaked hair from her forehead, her voice suddenly much gentler. “Hang in there. Help is coming.”
Wen Mingzhi struggled to open her eyes, her voice almost inaudible. “Tian Tian… I didn’t… mean to… I didn’t know…”
“I know.” Zhou Tian kissed her damp forehead, her voice trembling, “It’s not your fault. I’m here now.”
The footsteps of security and medical staff could already be heard approaching rapidly down the hallway.
Lu Ningyue, realizing she was done for, took one last look at Wen Mingzhi’s weakened but still stubborn figure and completely broke.
“No! I’m not the villain! She deserved this! She—she rejected me!”
Security barged in the next moment, pinning Lu Ningyue to the floor.
The scene was quickly secured, and the medics rushed to check on Wen Mingzhi’s condition. As they administered the stabilizing inhibitors and began to carry her out on a stretcher, Zhou Tian never once let go of her hand.
Even when Lu Ningyue screamed behind her—
“I hope you beg on your knees one day! Remember my words! One day, you’ll beg me to mark you—!”
Zhou Tian didn’t even turn her head.
She lowered her eyes and gently kissed Wen Mingzhi’s knuckles.
“I won’t let that day ever come.”
