- After the Divorce, the Heiress Omega Regretted It
- Chapter 1 - This Convenient Husband Role? Luo Yunye Was Quite Pleased.
It was deep into the night. The streets were empty, with no cars or pedestrians in sight—only the glow of scattered streetlights casting a dull yellow hue across the road.
Luo Yunye was racing down the main avenue in her sedan. Her lover had collapsed and been rushed to the hospital. Heart pounding, she was speeding her way there.
Just as she turned a corner, a massive dump truck came barreling toward her.
Maybe the driver hadn’t expected anyone to still be speeding around this late at night. He saw the red light but didn’t slow down, planning to just rush through it. By the time his drowsy eyes registered the car in front of him, it was too late—a sharp honk shattered the silence of the night.
Luo Yunye hadn’t expected the dump truck to keep accelerating either. She could only stare, helpless, as the massive vehicle came hurtling straight at her. She has no time to react.
Her bl00d surged to her wildly beating heart in an instant. A blinding white light filled her vision. Instinctively, she turned her head away and raised a hand to shield her eyes.
Bang!
The sedan was slammed off the road, flipped several times, and landed upside down, smoke curling up from the hood.
Dazed by the pain, Luo Yunye blinked slowly. She could hear her own ragged breathing. Through the cracked windshield, she saw the dump truck driver stumbling out of his cab, panic all over his face as he ran toward her. She felt something warm trickling down her head, the metallic scent of bl00d filling the air.
Every inch of her body throbbed in agony. She could barely breathe. Before the driver could reach her, her eyes slowly lost her consciousness.
In her mind, the system reported:
“Transmigration task loading complete—100%.”
Luo Yunye’s soul detached from the body and returned to the space between worlds.
The pain and dizziness from the crash were so real that she struggled to recover. But before she could fully catch her breath, the system’s voice rang out again.
“This will be your final mission. Complete it, and you’ll get to keep this identity—and live the life you want.”
That last part made Luo Yunye pause; her hand was still rubbing her aching forehead.
“Are you serious? Once I finish this task, I’ll finally be free?”
“You could say that. Ready to begin loading?”
Still lying on the cold ground with shallow breath, Luo Yunye looked at the options now floating before her. The thought of escaping this pain for good was all the motivation she needed. Without hesitation, she tapped Yes.
The next moment, she found herself in a bright, spacious room.
Her vision gradually cleared.
She was seated at a dressing table, wearing a pristine white wedding gown. A makeup artist was leaning in, carefully applying eyeliner.
Above her head, a progress bar showed the original host’s memories uploading—soon reaching 100%.
To help her blend into her roles more easily, every book she transmigrated into had the same name for the main character: Luo Yunye. This time, she’d been cast as a scumbag Alpha bride who married in her sister’s place.
The original Luo Yunye had a half-sister named Luo Yunyi, who’d been childhood sweethearts with Qin Yiwan—the heir of the prestigious Qin family. Their marriage had been arranged years ago and was supposed to be the most extravagant wedding in A City’s history.
But, as always, when things are supposed to go well, something inevitably goes wrong.
One month before the wedding, Qin Yiwan was in a car accident and fell into a coma.
Enter: the original Luo Yunye.
Her parents had divorced when she was eight, and she’d grown up with her mother. Her father just sent money to support her but never once visited her.
After the accident, her father, Luo Dongbin, reached out to her. He promised that if she agreed to take her sister’s (Luo Yunyi) place and marry Qin Yiwan, she would enjoy a life of luxury and comfort.
The original Luo Yunye was ruthless and ambitious. After marrying into the Qin family, she quickly won over Qin Yiwan’s mother and secured control of the family’s assets.
Drunk with power, she didn’t even bother to be discreet. She brought her first love into Qin Yiwan’s hospital room to mess around and even discussed poisoning Qin Yiwan in front of her—plotting to kill her off quietly and take everything for herself.
But what she didn’t know was this: she wasn’t the main character, and no supporting role could ever defeat the protagonist’s halo.
After putting Luo Yunyi through hell, the story took a turn. Miraculously, Qin Yiwan woke up.
Between miscommunications and melodramatic entanglements with Luo Yunyi, Qin Yiwan found time to gather enough evidence to have Luo Yunye arrested and thrown in prison.
Behind bars, she heard that her beloved had married someone else. Isolated and bullied by the other inmates, she became volatile. During a violent altercation, she killed a fellow prisoner and was sentenced to death.
A deeply satisfying ending… at least for the readers.
If she hadn’t taken Luo Yunye’s place, she would’ve clapped.
But unfortunately, she was Luo Yunye now—and she didn’t like the ending.
In all her past missions, Luo Yunye had always been cast as the villainous side character. Each time, she met a miserable and often gruesome death. Every single time.
But this was her final mission.
“…So, what exactly is my task this time?”
“Your mission: Find the person responsible for causing Qin Yiwan’s accident—and wake her up.”
“That’s it?”
She’d expected another life-or-death marathon, dragging herself to the finish line. But if all she had to do was wait for Qin Yiwan to wake up, then she’d finally be free?
A wave of relief washed over her. For once, she felt genuinely relaxed.
“Thank you for your contributions to the Transmigration Bureau. For this task, you are allowed full control. System 001 will assist you to the best of its ability.”
“Sure you will,” she muttered.
She didn’t have much faith in 001. It always promised to help, but the moment things got tricky, it would go radio silent like a deadbeat dog.
Still…
No need to play the groveling simp. She had creative freedom this time. So that meant—this ending?
She would rewrite it herself.
With the host’s memories fully integrated and the task set, Luo Yunye finally looked up at the mirror to examine the unfamiliar face staring back at her.
The original Luo Yunye was gorgeous—delicate features, almond-shaped eyes with a natural fox-like lift, slim brows, a sharp nose bridge, and petal-soft lips. Her beauty was refined, symmetrical, and almost flawless.
Luo Yunye raised an eyebrow, amused. She liked this face.
Though… the makeup was a little too soft and tame.
Reaching out, she stopped the makeup artist from doing her eyeliner.
The artist, an Omega, flinched at the sudden touch and glanced nervously at her unreadable expression. “S-Second Miss?”
“I’ll take it from here.”
Luo Yunye gave a gentle smile, took the eyeliner pen, and deftly extended the upward flick at the corner of her eye. Her fox-like eyes, with their deep inner corners and narrow, elongated tails, now looked both seductive and dangerously sharp.
She touched up her brows too. The makeup artist was stunned, watching her work without a single misstep. Every stroke—eyeliner, brows—was smooth, confident, and flawless.
In just a few touches, the soft bridal makeup was transformed into something striking and elegant. Classy, but bold.
Sweat dampened the makeup artist’s palms. She began to seriously worry about her own job security.
Knock, knock, knock…
A sudden knock startled the makeup artist, who turned toward the door.
Luo Yunyi stepped in. She wore a white gown, her long hair pinned up with a few soft strands left loose around her ears. Graceful, poised, and polished—more mature than the woman sitting at the vanity.
But when it came to looks?
Second Miss Luo Yunye was undeniably the prettier one.
“Miss.”
The makeup artist greeted Yunyi politely.
Luo Yunyi gave a soft nod, her voice gentle. “Is the makeup done? The Qin family’s wedding motorcade is already waiting downstairs.”
The makeup artist glanced at Luo Yunye, guilt flickering in her eyes. “Y-yes… it’s done.”
Luo Yunyi’s eyes fell on Luo Yunye’s wedding dress. Her eyes dimmed. She said softly, “You can go now. I’d like to speak with Yunye alone.”
The makeup artist had long heard the rumors—Luo Yunyi and Qin Yiwan were deeply in love. Now one was in a coma after a car crash, and the other was being replaced at the altar by her half-sister. The scandal brewing in this wealthy household was straight out of a melodrama.
Looking at Luo Yunyi’s expression, it was clear she hadn’t let go of Qin Yiwan. Stories of alphas losing their minds and fighting over their omegas weren’t uncommon.
Hopefully these two sisters wouldn’t start throwing hands, the makeup artist thought, exhaling lightly before respectfully exiting and shutting the door behind her.
Now only the two of them remained in the quiet room. Luo Yunyi stood by the door, watching Luo Yunye, who sat at the vanity in her pristine white wedding gown while putting on her earrings.
She had always known Luo Yunye was beautiful. Ever since she entered A University, she had been the ideal alpha in the eyes of many omegas. Even dressed plainly, omegas would flock around her, eager to catch her eye.
But now, in a wedding dress, she was breathtaking.
Their eyes met in the mirror. Luo Yunye was seated, technically in the lower position, but when she looked up, it was as if a divine figure were gazing down on mortals—aloof, distant, and radiating a quiet intensity.
That gaze made Luo Yunyi’s heart skip. She quickly looked away.
She stepped forward to adjust Luo Yunye’s veil. As she lowered her head, she caught sight of the ruby necklace resting against her sister’s long, elegant neck—the extravagant gift from the Qin family to their new son-in-law.
Luo Yunyi’s expression dimmed. She spoke as if to herself.
“I used to imagine, so many times, what it would be like to wear this dress and marry Wanwan. I never thought, in the end, the one wearing it and marrying her would be you.”
She had once felt guilty toward her half-sister, but at this moment, all she felt was bitter envy.
Luo Yunye caught the regret and resentment laced through her words. Her lips curled into a faint smirk as she slowly stood and turned around.
She was taller than Luo Yunyi. Standing this close, her presence was overwhelming.
Luo Yunyi instinctively stepped back and suddenly became tense.
Her alpha sister wasn’t just beautiful—she was dangerous.
Luo Yunyi still remembered how Luo Yunye had once gotten into a brutal fight in college over an omega, sending another alpha straight to the hospital.
“If you really wanted to marry Qin Yiwan,” Luo Yunye said coolly, grabbing her arm and yanking her forward, “then I wouldn’t be the one standing here today.”
She looked down at her with a scornful, dismissive air. “Spare me the sentimental crap. No one wants to hear it.”
With a shove, Luo Yunyi stumbled back and landed on the floor, looking up at her with a fragile, wronged expression.
“I did want to marry Wanwan. But Mom and Dad wouldn’t let me.” Her voice trembled, eyes welling with tears like a flower beaten down by rain. “They never understood how much I loved her… they never cared what I wanted…”
Luo Yunye’s brow furrowed the moment she started speaking. Her patience had run dry with Yunyi’s. She lifted her dress slightly and strode over.
Luo Yunyi looked up at her with eyes filled with tears, thinking she might offer her a hand.
Instead, the next thing she felt was a sharp, stinging slap across her face.
She had never been slapped in her life. Her cheek burned with pain, and for a moment, she sat there in shock and frozen.
After a while, she finally came to her senses. Covering her cheek, she looked up at Luo Yunye, crying.
“You hit me? How dare you! Not even Dad has ever laid a hand on me—”
Luo Yunye raised her hand again, and Luo Yunyi immediately fell silent, her eyes filled with stubborn tears and a flicker of fury.
Luo Yunye crouched down, grabbing her by the chin and forcing her to look up. A wicked grin played on her lips.
“You and your mother stole everything that was supposed to be mine. Remember this—taking Qin Yiwan away from you? That’s just the beginning.”
“Don’t you dare!”
Luo Yunyi raised her hand, trying to slap back, but Luo Yunye caught her wrist with ease.
The difference between them as alphas was obvious—Luo Yunyi, though technically an alpha, was as frail as an omega. She winced from the pain, tears nearly spilling again.
Luo Yunye flung her arm aside and patted her cheek gently—half mockery, half provocation—before rising gracefully and walking out with her skirt in hand.
The moment she opened the door, the Qin family’s butler, waiting outside to escort her, stepped forward. He paused briefly, surprised by her makeup, then heard her ask with a smile,
“Steward Lin, how do I look today?”
Lin quickly recovered, smiling politely.
“Second Miss, the wedding car is ready downstairs.”
“Oh.”
Luo Yunye responded with a soft hum, one hand holding her dress and the other resting elegantly on the handrail as she descended the stairs—unhurried, composed.
Her gaze fell on Luo Dongbin and his second wife, Liu Chuyi, waiting below.
Luo Dongbin frowned the moment he saw her bold makeup. As soon as she reached the bottom, he stepped forward and grabbed her arm, whispering sharply, “What kind of makeup is this? It’s your wedding day, yes, but with Wanwan lying in bed unconscious, what will the Qin family think of you looking so flashy?”
Luo Yunye was clearly irritated by his touch. She shook off his hand with a look of disgust, dusting off her arm like it had been soiled. Lifting her eyelids lazily, she stared back at him with cool indifference.
“Why should I care what they think?”
Luo Dongbin was stunned. Before he could respond, she was already walking away. With Steward Lin following close behind, he had no choice but to swallow his anger, his fists clenching.
“Where’s Yunyi?” Liu Chuyi asked, looking upstairs. “Didn’t she go to find Yunye? Why isn’t she coming down?”
Just as she spoke, Luo Yunyi came out with her hand covering her cheek; her eyes were still glistening.
Liu Chuyi gasped and rushed forward, gently uncovering her hand to reveal a bright red handprint that was already starting to swell. She covered her mouth in shock.
“She… she hit you?”
“…Mm.”
Tears brimmed in Luo Yunyi’s eyes again. Spotting Luo Dongbin, she rushed toward him in tears. “Dad, Yunye hit me…”
The tears she’d been holding back finally fell. Luo Dongbin’s heart ached at the sight. He quickly wiped her face.
“Unbelievable! How dare she hit you? Just wait—after the wedding, I’ll make her pay.”
Meanwhile, Luo Yunye was already seated in the bridal car. Steward Lin sat in the front passenger seat, glancing at her occasionally. She had closed her eyes to rest, seemingly indifferent to the ceremony.
According to the file, Luo Yunye had just turned twenty this year, was a junior in the Artificial Intelligence program at A University, consistently ranked top of her class, and was the recipient of annual scholarships. She was well-liked on campus, a rare alpha who had only dated once—for a month.
In this era, where alphas were abundant and Omegas were scarce, most people didn’t pay much attention to alphas. But an alpha like Luo Yunye, stunningly beautiful, was a rare find—more popular than many omegas.
That was one of the reasons the Qin family had agreed to the match.
After all, the Qin family wasn’t lacking money. They didn’t need the Luo family’s support.
Luo Yunyi, who had been arranged to marry Qin Yiwan since childhood, had always been sickly and weak. She is more of an omega than an alpha—and hardly fit to bear the weight of the Qin family’s legacy.
With Qin Yiwan as their only heir and her mother, Qin Rushuang, emotionally devastated after her accident, the Qin family needed a physically capable, easy-to-manage alpha with no powerful backing.
Luo Yunye was the perfect choice.
The two families lived nearby, so the ride was short. Just as Luo Yunye was starting to feel sleepy, the car pulled up to the Qin family estate.
Steward Lin opened the door for her. She blinked groggily, stifled a yawn, and stepped out.
The path from the gate to the villa was beautifully decorated. A red carpet blanketed in flower petals stretched before her, flanked by vibrant floral arches. At the end of the walkway stood a wedding photo of her and Qin Yiwan.
Of course, the studio had photoshopped the photo—they had never taken it themselves.
Luo Yunye stood in front of the wedding photo, studying Qin Yiwan’s face closely.
The novel had described her as having a delicate oval face, phoenix-shaped eyes, and soft cherry lips—features so refined that one couldn’t help but be stunned at first glance. And indeed, even in the retouched photo, she was beautiful. Paired with Luo Yunye’s image, the two looked surprisingly well-matched.
A faint smile tugged at Luo Yunye’s lips. But under Lin the butler’s watchful gaze, she quickly wiped away that trace of amusement and followed him into the house.
She was led upstairs into Qin Yiwan’s room.
On the large bed, Qin Yiwan lay quietly in a pristine white wedding gown, like a sleeping beauty straight out of a fairytale. Her omega mother, Qin Rushuang, sat on one side of the bed, the elderly Mrs. Qin on the other. Standing behind them, her alpha mother, Du Weimin, watched silently.
The two older women visibly perked up when Luo Yunye entered. Her makeup today was bold and striking, sharp enough to make one hesitate to approach. She didn’t look like a bride coming to marry. She looked like someone arriving for negotiations. Cold and untouchable.
That kind of presence, with the right cultivation, could very well turn her into a razor-sharp weapon in the business world—exactly what the Qin family needed.
Reminded that today was meant to be Qin Yiwan’s wedding day, Qin Rushuang forced a smile and gestured for Luo Yunye to stand beside the bed. Du Weimin simply offered a faint, unreadable smile and stepped quietly to the back, revealing no joy or warmth.
The officiant turned to Qin Rushuang for confirmation. “Shall we begin?”
She nodded. “Yes.”
Luo Yunye stood at Qin Yiwan’s side as the officiant asked, “Luo Yunye, do you willingly take Qin Yiwan as your wife, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to remain by her side always?”
Lowering her gaze to the breathtaking girl lying before her, Luo Yunye smiled softly. “I do.”
The officiant then symbolically posed the same question to Qin Yiwan. Qin Rushuang answered on her behalf.
With the ceremony complete, Qin Rushuang led everyone out of the room.
Luo Yunye remained, sitting on the edge of the bed. Her slender fingers reached out, tracing the delicate contours of Qin Yiwan’s cheek.
Her skin was like porcelain—soft and luminous. Her oval face had a smooth, sculpted shape with a tight jawline and refined features. Her nose and lips were exquisite, even more stunning than in the edited photos. Truly, she was an unrivaled beauty.
And most importantly, starting today, this unrivaled beauty was her wife.
Being a “bargain husband” didn’t sound so bad after all.
Luo Yunye was thoroughly pleased.
