Butler Lin rushed back with the suppressant and knocked anxiously. “Miss, I’ve got the suppressant. Are you alright in there?”
Qin Yiwan, already drowsy in Luo Yunye’s arms, stirred at the sound of his voice. She lifted her head slightly. “Just leave it at the door. I’ll grab it in a bit.”
Then she snuggled back into Luo Yunye’s embrace, her half-asleep hand slipping under Luo Yunye’s shirt, only to be caught and pinned behind her by Luo Yunye.
“I’m uncomfortable,” she murmured pitifully, “let go.”
Luo Yunye released her and got up. Qin Yiwan immediately sat up and grabbed her wrist, eyes wide with urgency. “Where are you going? I was wrong, okay? I won’t touch you again, alright?”
Luo Yunye looked at her—hair messy, lips pouting, eyes full of innocent panic—and couldn’t help but smile. She reached out to ruffle her hair even more.
“I’m not going far. Just grabbing the suppressant for you.”
Relieved, Qin Yiwan let go and curled back under the covers, watching Luo Yunye as she fetched the suppressant from the doorway and tucked it into the lowest drawer. Her eyes never left Luo Yunye’s figure, like she could never get enough.
Luo Yunye knelt in front of her and pinched her cheek. “Am I that good-looking?”
A bright smile lit up Qin Yiwan’s face, her eyes twinkling like stars as she praised her without hesitation. “Of course you are.”
Luo Yunye’s smile faded a little as she gently caressed her cheek, a touch of melancholy in her expression. “If only the one who woke up… was you.”
Then we could fall in love openly. I could mark you for life without hesitation.
Qin Yiwan didn’t notice her sorrow. She rubbed her cheek into Luo Yunye’s palm, closed her eyes, and drifted back to sleep.
Luo Yunye stayed by her side, wishing this dream could last a little longer—so they could spend more time together.
Qin Yiwan slept until dusk. The heat cycle had drained her, leaving her too tired to move. She stayed lazily in bed, refusing to get up. Even meals were delivered to the door by Butler Lin and brought in by Luo Yunye, who fed her bite by bite.
After dinner, Qin Yiwan still wanted to sleep but was afraid that if she closed her eyes again, Luo Yunye might disappear. She held tightly to her wrist, refusing to let go.
Luo Yunye gave in and lay down beside her. Qin Yiwan pulled her arm under her neck and snuggled into her chest, hugging her close.
She loved the scent of Luo Yunye, the warmth of her body, and the softness of her touch.
Luo Yunye let her cling as she pleased. Once her breathing steadied into sleep, she looked down at her peaceful, sleeping face.
Grown-up Qin Yiwan was even more beautiful—cool and aloof when expressionless, sweet and radiant when she smiled.
She liked this Qin Yiwan.
The one who was full of love and joy by her side.
But… as the third personality, how could she be the one to wake up?
Luo Yunye had read countless books, yet none ever mentioned a situation like this. It seemed she’d have to consult a psychologist about dissociative identity disorder once she was awake.

The next morning, Qin Yiwan jolted awake and immediately called out, “Luo Yunye!”
Startled, Luo Yunye reached out and cupped her face. “Don’t be scared; I’m here. Did you have a nightmare?”
Seeing that she was still there, Qin Yiwan threw herself into her arms, her heart slowly calming. “I had a horrible dream. Someone tried to shoot you.”
Luo Yunye gently patted her back, chuckling. “Did they get me?”
“I saw the bullet heading right at you… it scared me so much. I didn’t want you to get hit. Then I woke up.”
Just thinking about it sent a chill down Qin Yiwan’s spine.
“It’s alright now.” Luo Yunye stroked her hair softly, comforting her. “Want to get out for a bit? You’ve been cooped up in here for a whole day and night.”
“Okay.”
They got dressed and headed downstairs, only to see Qin Rushuang on the couch, talking on the phone. Luo Yunye hadn’t told her about staying here, so she glanced at Qin Yiwan. “Do you want me to come down with you?”
“Mhm.” Qin Yiwan slipped her arm through hers. “I want to introduce you to my mom. She’s going to like you.”
Luo Yunye wasn’t worried whether Qin Rushuang liked her or not. In the real world, she didn’t care; in a dream, even less so. The only opinion that mattered to her was Qin Yiwan’s.
But the fact that she wanted to introduce her to her family—that meant a lot. It meant she really liked her and wanted to be with her.
Luo Yunye tightened her grip on Qin Yiwan’s hand. The two shared a smile and slowly walked down the stairs.
Qin Rushuang looked up and saw them holding hands. Surprisingly, she didn’t look angry. She only asked calmly, “Is this the alpha you chose?”
“Yes.” Qin Yiwan leaned closer to Luo Yunye’s arm. “She’s the one I chose. Mom, whether you approve or not, I’m going to be with her.”
“The marriage agreement between the Qin and Luo families still stands. If you want to be with her, she has to be from the Luo family.”
“Well, that’s convenient,” Luo Yunye said with a smile. “I am from the Luo family.”
Qin Yiwan looked at her, standing confidently in front of her strict mother, and smiled proudly. That’s her alpha—unshaken even under intense scrutiny.
Qin Rushuang frowned. “The Luo family only has one daughter—Luo Yunyi. Are you saying you’re her?”
“Luo Dongbin had a child with Liu Chuyi before he married my mom. That child is Luo Yunyi. Later, he divorced my mom to be with Liu Chuyi. I’ve lived with my mother ever since. That’s why people only know about Luo Yunyi, not me—Luo Yunye.”
It was the first time Qin Yiwan had heard anything about Luo Yunye’s family, and she was stunned by how complicated it was.
“Come back to the Luo family first,” Qin Rushuang said coldly. “Then we’ll talk about you being with my daughter.”
After they walked out the door hand-in-hand, Qin Yiwan asked softly, “Was life hard with your mom?”
Luo Yunye thought back to those years and shook her head. “Not great. My mom truly loved Luo Dongbin but found out he’d cheated before they even got married. She hated him but couldn’t let him go. It tore her up inside.
And when she saw Luo Dongbin living happily with Liu Chuyi and their daughter, jealousy consumed her. She took it out on me—constant scolding and beatings.
One time, she pushed me down the stairs. I broke my leg.”
Qin Yiwan’s heart clenched. She immediately crouched to check her legs. “Which leg? Let me see.”
Luo Yunye laughed and helped her up. “I was kidding. It didn’t actually break.”
Relieved but still heartbroken, Qin Yiwan smacked her arm lightly. “You scared me!”
Luo Yunye pulled her into a tight embrace, resting her chin on her shoulder. “I just want to hold your hand like this… all the way to old age.”
Qin Yiwan smiled. “Then let’s walk hand in hand when it snows in winter. That way, we’ll be white-haired together.”
“Deal.”
If only this dream would never end.
But reality rarely grants such wishes. Luo Yunye opened her eyes and lay in bed, stunned and dazed.
It wasn’t until Butler Lin knocked on the door that she snapped out of it and got up.
She put on makeup carefully that day, wore a beautiful long dress, and before leaving, placed a gentle kiss on Qin Yiwan’s forehead.
She didn’t bring Butler Lin. Instead, she drove off alone in a discreet car and went to see the city’s top psychologist—Dr. Lin Wu.
Describing Qin Yiwan’s symptoms as those of “a friend,” Luo Yunye gave an overview. Dr. Lin nodded after listening carefully.
“So, you want to awaken the third personality?”
“Yes. Is there a way to bring her out first?”
“There is. But since she’s in a coma, there are risks.”
“What kind of risks?”
“Normally, we use hypnosis to enter the subconscious and eliminate the other personalities, allowing the primary one to emerge.
But in her case—as a comatose patient—if we eliminate the dominant and second personalities, and the third isn’t strong enough, she may never wake up.”
“Never?” Luo Yunye’s brow furrowed tightly.
If she couldn’t wake up, Luo Yunye could still dream with her.
But if she did wake up, they could truly be together.
And yet… if it was one of the other personalities who woke up—what then?
