After the Divorce, the Heiress Omega Regretted It - Chapter 19
Luo Yunye tilted her head slightly, her warm breath brushing against Qin Yiwan’s neck. A sudden wave of goosebumps rose on her skin, jerking her fully awake. Her heart raced, and her mind felt fuzzy and confused.
She forced herself to calm down and reached up to push Luo Yunye away. “Stand properly first.”
But Luo Yunye, thinking about how Luo Yunyi had come to visit Qin Yiwan today—and probably pulled some sneaky tricks—felt irritated just remembering it. Instead of letting go, she pulled Qin Yiwan even closer, clinging tightly like a spoiled child. “Not until you answer my question, jiejie.”
Qin Yiwan had never experienced anything like this. There had been plenty of alphas who liked her, who wanted to pursue her—but most hesitated to get too close, held back by her status and identity. None had dared to embrace her so intimately.
Her first instinct was to push Luo Yunye away—she didn’t like being touched so familiarly. But when she was about to do it, she hesitated.
Something felt off about Luo Yunye’s mood today.
“It doesn’t matter whether Luo Yunyi visits me or not,” Qin Yiwan said patiently, gently patting Luo Yunye’s arm. “Now will you let go of me?”
Luo Yunye brightened at her words, the gloom on her face disappearing completely. She grinned and hugged Qin Yiwan tighter. “Then I won’t let her visit you anymore!”
Qin Yiwan was being held so tightly that their bodies were practically pressed together. Luo Yunye’s body felt noticeably warmer than hers, and her breath and presence wrapped around her from all sides.
It was like soaking in a hot spring—Qin Yiwan found herself relaxing, enjoying the closeness for a fleeting moment.
But when Luo Yunye finally let go, the warmth vanished abruptly, and reality came rushing back. That comforting feeling had been nothing more than her imagination. An illusion.
She couldn’t allow herself to fall into it.
Luo Yunye noticed her dazed expression and the confusion in her eyes. She gently took Qin Yiwan’s hand. “What are you thinking about, jiejie?”
Qin Yiwan didn’t understand why she kept imagining that Luo Yunye cared for her—really liked her.
They hadn’t even known each other before all this. She couldn’t believe someone would fall for a person in a coma, no matter how beautiful she was. She didn’t have that kind of confidence.
After thinking it over, Qin Yiwan realized that deep down, she must have been yearning—for someone to like her, to love her above all else.
This clear sense of emotional emptiness made her feel pathetic and painfully lonely.
“It’s nothing.”
She quietly pulled her hand away, her expression returning to its usual cool indifference.
Taking two steps forward, she turned around, knowing Luo Yunye would follow. She faced her seriously. “Don’t follow me. I want to be alone.”
She took a few steps back, then turned quickly and walked away without looking back.
Luo Yunye stayed rooted to the spot, watching her retreating figure. She didn’t chase after her.
The world around her shifted—suddenly, she was standing in a large university lecture hall. Qin Yiwan was onstage, delivering a speech as an honored graduate.
She wore a loose-fitting graduation gown, her cool, elegant beauty captivating everyone. The hall was packed; students held up phones, quietly taking pictures and recording video.
“Respected school leaders, teachers, dear fellow students…”
Her voice echoed from all directions of the hall. The entire place fell silent, everyone involuntarily drawn to her—watching her intently.
Qin Yiwan had memorized her speech by heart. As she spoke, her gaze calmly swept across the audience—teachers, students, and cameras. She remained poised and unshaken.
But then her eyes met Luo Yunye’s in the crowd.
Her heart skipped a beat.
She quickly looked away, the sudden pause in her speech lasting just a second—but enough to betray her shift in focus.
Her eyes, once calm and confident, now flickered with discomfort. She didn’t want to look in that direction, but her peripheral vision still caught Luo Yunye’s presence. She couldn’t ignore it.
When the speech ended, she stepped aside and bowed. Applause filled the hall. As she lifted her head, her eyes instinctively searched the crowd—and found Luo Yunye again. The clapping seemed to fade as her heartbeat quickened.
After the ceremony, many classmates gathered to take pictures with her. She didn’t decline, standing politely with a faint smile.
One photo after another was taken—until Luo Yunyi finally made her way to Qin Yiwan’s side, hoping for a picture together.
Qin Yiwan showed no expression, but her peripheral vision caught Luo Yunye watching from not far away.
Even though the campus gates were crowded with graduates posing for photos, she could still feel Luo Yunye’s gaze on her. And without realizing it, her attention kept drifting back to where Luo Yunye stood.
Luo Yunyi asked a classmate to help take the photo. She moved to put an arm around Qin Yiwan’s shoulders, but Qin Yiwan instinctively flinched.
Why had she reacted that way?
They’d grown up together—if not as partners, they were still friends. So why did she want to avoid her?
Her thoughts grew more chaotic. She could sense Luo Yunye approaching, and a wave of guilt kept her frozen. She pretended not to notice.
“Jiejie,” Luo Yunye stepped up and gently grabbed her arm, pulling her to face her. “Why are you ignoring me?”
Qin Yiwan could no longer avoid her gaze. Seeing the furrowed brows and pouty expression, she replied calmly, “I’m not ignoring you. I’m just taking photos with classmates. Want to help us take one?”
She handed the camera to her.
Luo Yunye glanced at her, then at Luo Yunyi, before pushing the camera into the latter’s hands. “I don’t know how to use this. Luo Yunyi, can you help take a photo of me and jiejie?”
Luo Yunyi looked at the camera in surprise, then at Qin Yiwan. The latter didn’t seem keen on taking a picture with her anyway, so she nodded. “Alright, Yunyi. Please take the photo for us.”
Luo Yunyi looked slightly annoyed but stepped forward and aimed the camera at them.
Luo Yunye stood innocently beside Qin Yiwan. Just as the shutter was about to click, she suddenly slipped an arm around Qin Yiwan’s waist.
Qin Yiwan turned in surprise—only to meet Luo Yunye’s eyes. She smiled brightly.
Qin Yiwan’s heart skipped again—right as the photo was captured.
Around them, a surprised murmur spread through the crowd. Snapping back to reality, Qin Yiwan immediately pushed Luo Yunye away and hurried toward the sports field, ignoring all the curious stares.
She knew this was just a dream. It wasn’t real.
But her heart was still in chaos—not because others had seen their intimacy, but because…
Why was she always dreaming of Luo Yunye?
If Luo Yunye only existed in her dreams… then did that mean all the things Luo Yunye did were really what she wanted her to do?
The thought unraveled her.
Her once-reliable biological clock was now completely off. For the first time, she found herself wide awake in the middle of the night, the silence around her broken only by her own heartbeat.
At the same moment, Luo Yunye also stirred from sleep, still half-dreaming. She leaned in and gently wrapped her arms around Qin Yiwan, whispering close to her ear, “A’Wan…”
The warm breath on her ear made Qin Yiwan shiver again. Goosebumps rose on her skin, but she couldn’t move. The sensation was torture. It would’ve been better if she were still in the dream—at least she could push her away there.
Eventually, morning came.
Luo Yunye got up first, while Qin Yiwan, exhausted, drifted back into sleep.
******
Luo Yunye’s first instinct was to check the monitor. Usually by now, Qin Yiwan would show signs of mental activity—spikes in brainwave patterns—but today everything remained stable.
Worried something was wrong, she called the family doctor, Xu Nuo, to come over for an examination.
Xu Nuo rushed in, alarmed by her tone, and performed a full check-up on Qin Yiwan. Everything came back normal.
She let out a breath of relief but looked at Luo Yunye curiously. “There’s nothing unusual. Did something specific worry you this morning, Young Madam?”
“I noticed the readings on the monitor weren’t fluctuating much. I thought something might’ve happened…” Luo Yunye admitted, realizing she may have overreacted. A bit embarrassed, she added, “Usually at this hour, there’s at least some emotional fluctuation. What’s going on today?”
“The vitals are steady—Little Qin is probably just asleep right now,” Xu Nuo said, glancing at the monitor.
“Oh… so that’s all it is.”
Luo Yunye let out an awkward laugh.
Seeing how anxious she was, Xu Nuo gently reassured her, “Still, it’s been a few days since her last nutrient injection. She’s due for another today.”
“Thanks—I’ll leave it to you then.”
Once Xu Nuo finished administering the nutrients and packed up to leave, Luo Yunye carefully adjusted Qin Yiwan’s blanket. Just then, a knock came at the door.
“Come in,” she called out.
Butler Lin stepped inside and approached respectfully. “Young Madam, as per your request, I’ve gathered the bodyguards. They’re waiting downstairs. Please come take a look and see if any are to your liking.”
“Alright. I’ll be right down.”
Ten bodyguards had been assembled—each dressed neatly in a black suit and sunglasses, all female betas. Some had long ponytails; others sported sharp, short cuts. All tall and fit, they stood in formation like a scene from an action film.
“You’ll pair off and spar. The last two standing will remain with the Qin family. The others will be compensated.”
For a bodyguard, obedience and combat ability were key. As betas, they wouldn’t be affected by pheromones and could be relied on to protect Qin Yiwan under any circumstance.
The women nodded silently and split into pairs, beginning their matches. Luo Yunye watched from the side. A few had basic skills, but they didn’t last long.
Only two of them truly stood out—clearly well-trained and experienced. As Luo Yunye had hoped, they were the ones left standing in the end.
“You two,” she called out, “introduce yourselves.”
“I’m Wei Shuang.”
“I’m Zhao Ke.”
“Alright. From today on, Wei Shuang and Zhao Ke, your job is to guard A’Wan’s door. No one enters without my permission. Especially not Du Weimin or Luo Yunyi.”
The two answered in unison, “Yes, Young Madam.”
With the bodyguards handled, Luo Yunye finally felt secure enough to leave the house.
She headed to the slums, trying to find the wife and daughter of the hit-and-run driver. But when she arrived at the address Butler Lin had given her, the place was empty.
The landlord told her they had moved out the day before.
They moved out yesterday? The timing was too perfect—too suspicious.
It was as if they had known she was coming.
Standing at the intersection, Luo Yunye suddenly had the distinct feeling that someone was watching her. Not targeting her specifically, but definitely trying to keep something hidden.
A cover-up.
And she had a good idea of who might be behind it.
Instead of going home, she stopped by a quiet café and called Butler Lin to prepare a camera. Then she summoned Wei Shuang.
“Young Madam,” Wei Shuang greeted her respectfully.
“Sit down.”
Luo Yunye ordered her a coffee and began flipping through the documents Butler Lin had compiled. “Do you know how to use a camera?”
“Yes, Young Madam.”
“Starting today, your job isn’t guarding A’Wan. I want you to follow this person and photograph who she meets with. Don’t get caught. If you’re discovered, you’re fired.”
She handed over a photo of Du Weimin. Wei Shuang showed no reaction—like a machine—and simply slipped the photo into her bag. “Understood, Young Madam.”
“I’ll have Butler Lin transfer funds to your account for car rentals. Never use the same car twice. It’s too easy to be noticed.”
“Yes, Young Madam.”
Wei Shuang was already about to leave when Luo Yunye stopped her.
“No rush. Drink your coffee first.”
It was rare to share a drink with one’s boss. Wei Shuang hesitated but eventually sat back down. Her stoic face showed a flicker of awkwardness.
Luo Yunye smiled. “I’ve got something else to do, so I’ll head out first. The coffee’s paid for—don’t waste it.”
“Thank you, Young Madam.”
After leaving the café, Luo Yunye drove home. That evening over dinner, she casually mentioned wanting to intern at Du Weimin’s company.
Qin Rushuang and Grandma Qin were delighted and encouraged her. Only Du Weimin looked uneasy, forcing a smile as she said, “The company hasn’t been hiring recently. Suddenly arranging an internship feels a bit unusual.”
“Didn’t you say before that I could come to you for help if I needed anything?” Luo Yunye asked lightly. “Surely arranging an internship isn’t too much trouble?”
Du Weimin clearly didn’t like the implication. Her smile stiffened. “Of course not. But didn’t you say before you didn’t want to rely on connections?”
“Well,” Luo Yunye beamed, “I’ve changed my mind. If there’s a shortcut, why not take it?”
Grandma Qin chimed in, “Then it’s settled. Weimin, arrange for Yunye to intern at the company. Starting from the bottom is good—it’ll make managing things later easier.”
With the old lady’s word as law, Du Weimin had no choice but to agree. She lowered her head obediently. “Of course, Grandma. Yunye can come to the office with me tomorrow.”
Watching Du Weimin eat humble pie gave Luo Yunye immense satisfaction. She was still humming to herself when she returned to the room that night.
Hearing her cheerful tune, Qin Yiwan’s attention instinctively drifted toward her. Once Luo Yunye had washed up and climbed into bed, she began sharing her “happy moment” from earlier.
She didn’t spell out exactly what had happened—just spun a metaphorical tale. She described herself as a magpie and Du Weimin as a crow. The two had a shouting match, and in the end, the crow was so ugly it lost—its face darker than its feathers.
Qin Yiwan didn’t fully understand the story, but Luo Yunye’s joyful tone was soothing—like a bedtime story. It was comforting. Familiar. Before long, she drifted off to sleep.
Luo Yunye glanced at the monitor and saw the brainwave readings gradually level out. She knew Qin Yiwan was asleep. Leaning close to her ear, she whispered:
“A’Wan… can you hear me?”
“A’Wan, I think… I really miss you.”
At some point during the night, still holding Qin Yiwan’s hand, Luo Yunye fell asleep.
When she opened her eyes again, she was in an office. Qin Yiwan sat at a desk, reading something on her computer. Her expression was casual and focused—her face alive with tiny shifts in emotion.
Luo Yunye couldn’t help calling out, “A’Wan…”
Qin Yiwan immediately looked up, and when she saw who it was, her face lit up. Smiling, she ran into Luo Yunye’s arms and threw herself into her embrace. “Yunye!”
In that moment—wrapped in her arms—Luo Yunye felt completely full. Grounded. At peace.
“What took you so long to come find me?”
Qin Yiwan pouted and tapped her shoulder, eyebrows furrowed, clearly waiting for an apology.
“I come find you every day,” Luo Yunye said gently. “But sometimes… you’re not really you.”
She didn’t try to hide anything. “Actually, you have two other personalities. One is cold and detached. The other is impulsive and aggressive.”
“I never know which one I’ll see. But I keep coming, every day, hoping it’ll be you. And today… the heavens finally listened. I got my wish.”
“I have… two other personalities? ”Qin Yiwan blinked, thinking back.
She did recall forgetting things sometimes. Waking up in strange places. Losing track of time.
So that was why.
But she accepted it easily. To her, those details didn’t matter. What mattered was being with Luo Yunye—right now, in this moment.
“So be it,” she said, taking her hand. “Let’s go have some fun.”
Luo Yunye teased her, “Don’t you have work?”
“Didn’t you say I’ve got two other personalities?” Qin Yiwan grinned. “Let them handle it. I just want to spend this time with you.”
Seeing her glowing, carefree smile, Luo Yunye’s heart melted. She pulled her back into her arms.
“Don’t move, A’Wan. Let me hold you.”
“What’s gotten into you?” Qin Yiwan chuckled, hugging her back.
Qin Yiwan smiled and hugged her back. Suddenly remembering something, she smiled and said: “When you can’t see me, do you miss me very, very much?”
“Yeah, I miss you very, very much.”
