- Chapter 21 - Every Time I See You, My Heart Races
Luo Yunye wasn’t completely oblivious to her feelings. She wanted to get closer to A’wan—not just because of her alpha instincts, but because she truly liked her.
She liked A’wan’s beautiful face, her alluring curves, her charming smile, and her sunny personality.
Being with her felt relaxing, like being wrapped in a warm embrace of love. She could rely on her without reservation and freely express her feelings, enjoying the pleasure of loving and being loved in return.
But A’wan wasn’t alone in her own body—two other personalities lived inside her.
It wasn’t that Luo Yunye feared them.
She was just worried… what if one of the others suddenly took over while they were doing something intimate?
She pictured that second personality—cold eyes laced with hostility—and then thought of Qin Yiwan’s usual cool, angry frown.
Either way, she couldn’t accept it.
Noticing that Qin Yiwan had turned away, sulking and waiting for her to coax her, Luo Yunye pulled her into her arms and kissed her gently on the cheek.
“Let go of me.”
Qin Yiwan struggled, clearly upset, trying to push her away. Luo Yunye only held her tighter, coaxing in a soft voice, “How about we wait until you wake up in the real world?”
“No.”
Qin Yiwan was still unhappy, and she was feeling increasingly irritable.
That kiss from Luo Yunye had stirred something deep inside her, something she couldn’t ignore. She desperately wanted to be closer to her and couldn’t hold back at all.
The restlessness and heat she felt… it was a familiar sensation.
Soon, Qin Yiwan’s body was burning up. Her head felt dizzy. She looked up at Luo Yunye, frowning. “I don’t feel good… Can we go home?”
Seeing her flushed cheeks, Luo Yunye reached out and touched her face—it was even hotter than before, almost like she had a fever.
They were standing very close, and Luo Yunye could already smell the faint sweetness of her pheromones. She guessed that their passionate kiss might have triggered her heat period to arrive early.
Qin Yiwan hadn’t realized it yet. She was holding her neck uncomfortably, shifting and rubbing against Luo Yunye, murmuring, “Yunye, I feel terrible…”
Luo Yunye grew tense.
They were still in a huge mall. If Qin Yiwan’s pheromones attracted other alphas, and they all went into a frenzy around her, it would be a complete disaster.
Without hesitation, she scooped Qin Yiwan into her arms and rushed out of the mall, flagging down the first car she could find and heading straight home.
Qin Yiwan was already struggling by the time they got in the car, constantly shifting closer to Luo Yunye. Her pheromones were leaking uncontrollably into the air.
Thankfully, the taxi driver was a beta—immune to the effects of pheromones. Otherwise, things could’ve gone horribly wrong.
Luo Yunye wasn’t nearly as lucky. In the small, enclosed space, the scent grew thicker by the second, wrapping around her and attacking her senses.
Her whole body began to ache. Every nerve felt like it was on fire, screaming at her to mark the woman in her arms. She was sweating just from holding herself back.
“Yunye… I don’t feel good…”
Qin Yiwan didn’t realize Luo Yunye was suffering just as much. She kept curling into her, desperate for any comfort she could find.
“Just hold on a little longer,” Luo Yunye’s voice was hoarse. She pinched her own thigh hard, trying to stay sane. “Once we get home, we can give you an inhibitor. It’ll be okay.”
Just hold on.
The words were for both of them.
“I can’t take it anymore…” Qin Yiwan whispered, pushing her long hair aside to expose the nape of her neck, leaning close to Luo Yunye’s lips. “Just bite me. Please, just once.”
“No.” Luo Yunye’s mind was spinning, overwhelmed by the intoxicating pheromones. She turned her head away, holding on to reason by a thread. “Too many temporary marks will mess with your system.”
“I’m not scared.” Qin Yiwan cupped her face, climbing into her lap and pressing her lips to hers. “I’m yours. I want you to mark me. Only you.”
Their breaths tangled. The scent in the car was maddening.
Luo Yunye couldn’t take it anymore. All logic shattered.
She swept Qin Yiwan’s hair aside with one hand, pulled her tightly into her arms with the other, and sank her teeth into the soft skin of her neck.
“Ah…”
The pain traveled straight to Qin Yiwan’s brain. Her body tensed as she let out a soft gasp. In the quiet of the car, only their heavy breathing remained.
They stayed like that for a long time.
Only after the temporary mark was complete did Luo Yunye pull back, gently rubbing her back to soothe her.
Now that her pheromones had calmed down, Qin Yiwan went limp, like a balloon losing air. She leaned against Luo Yunye’s shoulder, breathless and exhausted.
Luo Yunye held her close, looking down at the fresh bite mark on her neck. She couldn’t resist lowering her head and giving it a gentle lick.
The girl in her arms trembled slightly, weakly biting her shoulder in return.
A soft, tingling sensation spread through her skin. Luo Yunye chuckled. “Can’t bring yourself to bite down?”
“No…” Qin Yiwan adjusted her position. “I was afraid I’d hurt you.”
Luo Yunye remembered how she had lost control a little earlier. “Sorry… Did I hurt you?”
“It’s okay. It’s not that bad—I can handle it.”
Qin Yiwan suddenly remembered something she’d read before about lifelong marking. Apparently, it was an incredibly painful process. No matter how much the omega cried, the alpha would never stop halfway until the mark was complete.
It sounded terrifying.
But… if it was with Luo Yunye, she still wanted it.
She reached up and touched Luo Yunye’s face, struggling to even lift her eyelids but still wanting to look at her. She really, really liked her.
The taxi stopped outside the villa. Luo Yunye got out and carried Qin Yiwan in her arms. But she had barely taken two steps before her legs gave out, and she dropped to her knees.
Even then, she held Qin Yiwan steady. Her knees hit the ground hard, sending a sharp pain through her, but it helped clear her head a bit.
“Yunye! Are you okay?”
Qin Yiwan looked at her in worry, gently patting her arms. “Put me down. I can walk on my own.”
“I’m fine.”
Luo Yunye forced herself to her feet. The skin on her knees had split, and bl00d trickled down her legs.
But she acted like she couldn’t feel a thing. She carried Qin Yiwan inside, made her way upstairs, and went straight to the drawer where the inhibitor was stored.
The temporary mark had stabilized Qin Yiwan for now, but they still needed the inhibitor to help her fully get through her heat period.
After carrying her all the way up with her injured knee, Luo Yunye’s hands were trembling. She was breathing heavily, her brow tightly furrowed, her face full of worry.
Qin Yiwan saw the bl00d still running down her legs and quickly grabbed the syringe from her. “I’ll do it myself—go get the first aid kit. You’re bleeding!”
Luo Yunye pressed her down by the shoulders. “Lie down and rest.”
Qin Yiwan looked at her anxiously. “Hurry, go get it bandaged!”
“…Okay.”
Just as Luo Yunye opened the door, she saw Butler Lin standing outside with the first aid kit in hand. She handed it over silently. “Would you like me to take care of it for you?”
“No need.”
Luo Yunye took the kit and walked back inside.
Qin Yiwan had already sat up. Luo Yunye set the box down and sat beside her, making sure she could see what she was doing.
As she disinfected her wounds with iodine, Luo Yunye didn’t flinch once. But beside her, Qin Yiwan winced and sucked in a sharp breath.
Luo Yunye couldn’t help but chuckle. “Feeling sorry for me?”
“…Yeah.”
Qin Yiwan pulled the blanket over her lap, her gaze falling on Luo Yunye’s pale leg. Watching her expertly wrap the wound, she suddenly remembered something Luo Yunye had said—how her life with her mother hadn’t been easy.
She couldn’t help but ask, “Did you get hurt a lot… growing up?”
To be fair, she did get injured often. In those transmigration missions, she was never cast as a pleasant character—beatings, injuries, and torture were part of the routine. She could barely recall what that pain even felt like now, but it certainly wasn’t pleasant.
As for the original host, she too had been frequently beaten and scolded by her biological mother. Her mother had a twisted love-hate obsession with Luo Dongbin—loving him and hating him all at once. The better his life became with his mistress and their new family, the more she hated it.
Unable to vent her frustration on Luo Dongbin, she turned all that rage on the original host. The host’s later obsession with money and power was really her way of rebelling—a desperate yearning for freedom and autonomy.
Seeing Qin Yiwan tense up again, Luo Yunye gently taped the gauze in place, reached out to pinch her cheek, and said with a smile, “That’s all in the past. I have you now. I’m happy—really happy.”
“I’m happy too,” Qin Yiwan whispered, holding Luo Yunye’s hand against her cheek and reaching out with her other hand.
Luo Yunye leaned in so she could touch her face. After a few soft strokes, she took her hand and kissed her palm. “Take a nap. When you wake up, let’s go out and catch that movie.”
Qin Yiwan shook her head but shifted over to make space for her. Luo Yunye climbed into bed and pulled her into her arms.
Qin Yiwan held her tightly. She was exhausted, barely able to keep her eyes open, yet she refused to sleep.
She was afraid that if she did, Luo Yunye would be gone again. And who knew when they’d see each other next? Their time together was always too short. She didn’t want it to end.
“I’m not going anywhere,” Luo Yunye said softly, sensing her fear. She rubbed her back in slow, soothing motions. “I’ll stay right here with you. Just sleep—everything’s okay.”
Qin Yiwan’s eyelids fluttered, and eventually, with Luo Yunye beside her, sleep took her over.
When she woke, the room was pitch dark. The bed beside her was empty. She sat up quickly and cried out, “Yunye!”
Hurried footsteps echoed outside, then the door burst open. Luo Yunye stood in the doorway, her shadow stretching long under the hallway light.
Seeing her awake and off the bed, Luo Yunye quickly stepped forward.
Qin Yiwan rushed into her arms and hugged her tightly. She didn’t say a word, but Luo Yunye understood. She gently patted her head.
“I figured you’d be hungry when you woke up, so I went downstairs to cook. Want to come eat now?”
“Mm.” Qin Yiwan still held her tight, reluctant to let go.
“Come on,” Luo Yunye said, taking her hand and playfully tipping her chin. “Aren’t you the least bit curious about what I made?”
Qin Yiwan looked up with a smile. “Let me guess… sweet and sour ribs?”
“You’re too smart,” Luo Yunye grinned.
Just as they stepped downstairs, the sound of the front door opening interrupted them—Qin Rushuang was home.
Qin Yiwan looked to Luo Yunye, but she showed no sign of panic. Calmly, she led her into the kitchen, picked up a piece of rib with chopsticks, and held it to her lips. It was just the right temperature—tender, flavorful, and perfectly sweet.
“Does it taste good?” Luo Yunye asked.
Qin Yiwan finished it and nodded. “Delicious.”
Qin Rushuang’s footsteps grew louder. Suddenly, Luo Yunye tilted Qin Yiwan’s chin. “Let me have a taste.”
Then she leaned in and kissed her.
Qin Yiwan’s long lashes trembled. She hesitated only for a second before wrapping her arms around Luo Yunye’s neck and kissing her back.
Their kiss deepened, and Luo Yunye backed her up against the cold kitchen counter. Lifting her by the waist, she sat her on the freshly cleaned surface and kissed her from below.
“What do you think you’re doing?!”
A furious voice exploded at the door. They turned to see Qin Rushuang standing there, her face like steel.
Qin Yiwan wasn’t intimidated. She cupped Luo Yunye’s face, kissed her on the corner of her mouth, then calmly looked back. “As you can see—we’re kissing.”
Qin Rushuang’s face twisted with rage. “Qin Yiwan, I haven’t even dealt with your nonsense at the office, and now you bring someone home to behave like this?! Have you no shame?!”
Qin Yiwan had no interest in explaining. She simply asked, “So what now? Planning to lock me in a dark room again? Forbid me from going out? Or make me kneel by A’yao’s grave for three days and nights?”
Qin Rushuang’s cold exterior cracked slightly. She took a deep breath. “Go upstairs. Now. You’re not to leave without my permission.”
As Qin Yiwan brushed past her, she turned slightly and muttered, “How boring.”
“What did you say?” Qin Rushuang grabbed her arm. “Your wings have hardened, huh? Talking back to me over some random woman? Do you want me to—”
“Go ahead,” Qin Yiwan met her eyes as she raised her hand. “Hit me, if you’ve got the guts. Kill me if you can.”
Qin Rushuang was so enraged that her hand started to fall—but Luo Yunye stepped between them, grabbing her wrist.
“It’s late, President Qin,” she said calmly. “You should rest.”
Qin Rushuang’s expression dimmed all at once, like an NPC switching off. She turned and left without another word.
Only after she disappeared upstairs did Luo Yunye turn back to Qin Yiwan and pinch her cheek. “Why provoke her like that? What if she really hit you?”
“I don’t know.” Qin Yiwan looked down, voice dull. “She just seems like the type who would.”
Luo Yunye could tell she still cared about Qin Rushuang’s opinion. Pulling her into a hug, she gently patted her back. “You know this version of her isn’t real, right? Maybe she was never like what you remember.”
“Maybe,” Qin Yiwan murmured. But all she could recall were the bad memories. If there had been good times, they’d have long faded from reach.
There’s no point dwelling on pale comfort—eating was more effective. Luo Yunye brought over the sweet and sour ribs again. “Come on, eat up. They’ll go cold.”
Qin Yiwan smiled and started eating. Together, they shared the rest while heading upstairs.
After food, she felt refreshed. Luo Yunye put on a movie, and they curled up together in bed.
Knowing Luo Yunye wouldn’t mark her, Qin Yiwan behaved, snuggling quietly without teasing her.
The movie started out innocent enough—two women meeting, growing closer, misunderstanding each other, then fighting in the rain. The argument turned heated until one woman suddenly grabbed the other’s face and kissed her fiercely.
The second woman shoved her away, both soaked by the downpour. Their tempers cooled as they walked back to their respective rooms.
Scene cut. Both had showered. The first woman came to apologize and offered to dry the other’s hair. Tension filled the air—shyness, nervous glances, and the yearning for touch.
When the hair was dry, there was no more excuse to stay. The first woman lingered. The second woman’s gaze stayed on her. When their eyes met, the awkward excitement made Qin Yiwan giggle.
“They’re so pure. Just one look and their hearts start racing.”
Luo Yunye chuckled. “Aren’t you the same? Don’t you get flustered seeing me?”
“I do. Every time I see you, my heart skips a beat.”
Luo Yunye pinched her cheek. “Where’d you learn to say stuff like that so smoothly?”
“No idea. Maybe I was just born romantic.”
Luo Yunye laughed. The other two personalities certainly weren’t like this. Apparently all the romance skills had been given to this version—her little A’wan.
In the film, the second woman offered to walk the first back to her room. But she tripped and fell right into her arms. After some fumbling and tension, their eyes met, and she kissed her.
Somehow, things escalated quickly, and they ended up kissing on the bed.
As the movie shifted into something more… explicit, Luo Yunye pulled the blanket up over Qin Yiwan’s eyes. “It’s getting late. Time to sleep.”
She covered her eyes, but the sound effects still played—soft gasps and sighs that made the dark room feel unbearably intimate.
“What are they doing?” Qin Yiwan asked with faux innocence, her fingers playfully tracing circles on Luo Yunye’s waist.
Luo Yunye couldn’t take it anymore. She turned off the movie and the projector. The room went pitch black. She lay down and held the warm, squirming girl in her arms.
“Sleep,” she said firmly.
But Qin Yiwan pulled her hand downward. “Yunye…”
Luo Yunye pretended to sleep, eyes shut tight. But the girl in her arms wasn’t behaving—still teasing her relentlessly. There was no way she could sleep or even clear her mind.
Before long, her fingers felt damp.
“Yunye…” Qin Yiwan whispered again, shame flickering in her voice. She couldn’t bring herself to go further on her own, so she kissed her, silent and pleading.
Luo Yunye could no longer ignore her. The kiss burned away her restraint. She rolled on top of her, breathing hotly against her cheek. Her voice was hoarse as she asked, “Are you sure?”
Qin Yiwan wrapped her arms around her neck and nodded. “I’m sure.”
A soft moan escaped her lips.
Her brows furrowed slightly as she gasped, head tilting back.
Luo Yunye’s slender fingers were wrapped in wet heat—soft, tight, and trembling. Just like her heart.
