After the Divorce, the Heiress Omega Regretted It - Chapter 27
Luo Yunye knew that, to the current Qin Yiwan, she was nothing more than a stranger. There was no familiarity, no trust between them—her wariness was only natural.
She’d been through countless transmigrations, and scenes like this weren’t new. Back then, she’d only pretended to have emotions—her heart had always remained untouched.
But now, watching Qin Yiwan grow close to Luo Yunyi right in front of her, Luo Yunye’s expression might have stayed calm, but inside she felt utterly wretched.
It was like the sky had collapsed—but only on her.
Her throat was parched. She wanted some water. After a brief hesitation, she turned into the hospital and made her way to the vending machine.
Meanwhile, in the nearby pavilion, Qin Yiwan was deep in conversation with Luo Yunyi, completely unaware of her presence.
“How did I end up in a coma from that car accident?” Qin Yiwan asked the same question she had posed to Luo Yunye earlier—and got a similar answer.
Then she asked about the marriage to Luo Yunye.
Luo Yunyi lowered her head, guilt in her voice. “It was my fault. If I had the strength to make my own decisions, I never would’ve let Yunye marry you.”
Qin Yiwan had always known Luo Yunyi wasn’t a brave person. The bravest thing she’d ever done was to pursue her relentlessly all those years—staying by her side despite never getting a response.
When Qin Yiwan became comatose and her fate uncertain, the Luo family didn’t want their daughter married into widowhood. Luo Yunyi, unable to oppose them, let Luo Yunye take her place. It made sense.
That’s how people are—constantly weighing the pros and cons, giving up people and things when the time comes to protect their own interests.
Qin Yiwan understood that, yet she still felt a flicker of disappointment. She had thought Luo Yunyi was someone who would never let go of her, no matter what.
But she had forgotten—Luo Yunyi had always been a coward.
When Qin Yiwan didn’t respond, Luo Yunyi looked up nervously. “But Wanwan… after Yunye married you, I regretted everything. In those days when I couldn’t see you, I finally understood how deep my feelings were. I love you. I love you whether you’re healthy or sick.”
“I went to the Qin house to see you. Aunt Du let me in once, but Yunye found out and threw me out.”
“I know she cares about us. She’s my sister. I didn’t want to upset her, but I just… I couldn’t stop myself from wanting to see you, to talk to you, to wake you up sooner.”
“Wanwan…” Luo Yunyi suddenly reached out and took Qin Yiwan’s hand, gazing at her with emotion. “I know it’s too late to say this now, but I still want to tell you—I love you. More than I ever did before.”
Qin Yiwan had never been sensitive to romance, and even now, Luo Yunyi’s confession stirred nothing in her.
She had only called Luo Yunyi over to verify if Luo Yunye had been telling the truth. Now that everything was confirmed—Luo Yunye hadn’t lied, and Luo Yunyi really wasn’t someone who would stick by her through thick and thin—there was nothing more she needed.
Qin Yiwan gently pulled her hand away. Her voice was calm. “No matter what, I’m already married to your sister. Yunyi, let’s just be friends from now on.”
“I’m a bit tired. I want to go back and rest.”
Luo Yunyi hadn’t expected such a cold reaction. She froze, overwhelmed by the emotion she’d just let out. When she recovered, she stood up to help Qin Yiwan. “Let me walk you back.”
Qin Yiwan glanced at the nearby pavilion—Luo Yunye was no longer there.
She didn’t refuse Luo Yunyi’s help. Her legs were still weak, and falling now would be embarrassing, even if it didn’t hurt much.
Luo Yunye, at the vending machine, bought two bottles of water, planning to give one to Qin Yiwan later. As she returned, she reached the corridor’s end and saw Qin Yiwan and Luo Yunyi sitting close together.
They were facing away, so she couldn’t see Qin Yiwan’s expression. But she did see Luo Yunyi suddenly grab her hand.
Luo Yunye’s breath caught. She crushed the water bottle in her hand, afraid she’d lose control and storm over to tear them apart. Instead, she turned away and sat down on a bench in the hallway to wait.
Waiting was torture. Time stretched infinitely—each second like a taut thread digging into her nerves, stinging with every thought.
Fortunately, it wasn’t long before she saw Qin Yiwan approaching, supported by Luo Yunyi.
Luo Yunye forced down her discomfort, stood up, and took Qin Yiwan’s arm from Luo Yunyi’s hands. She kept her tone as gentle as she could. “It’s getting late. You should go home. I’ll take care of Wanwan.”
“It’s fine. I have the day off tomorrow. I can stay and help too. Besides, Yunye, do you even know how to take care of someone?”
Luo Yunye didn’t look at her. Her eyes were on Qin Yiwan’s profile. “I’ve been the one taking care of her this whole time while she was unconscious. You tell me—do I know how?”
Luo Yunyi faltered but quickly smiled. “Then you must be tired after all that. Let me take over for tonight—you can go rest.”
Luo Yunye had always found Luo Yunyi annoying, but she didn’t expect her to be this annoying. Like a mosquito that wouldn’t leave unless you swatted it hard enough.
If Qin Yiwan weren’t here, Luo Yunye would’ve slapped her already. She’d been holding it in for way too long.
Qin Yiwan listened to them bicker, annoyed. “Enough. You both go home. I’m not an invalid—I can manage on my own.”
She brushed off Luo Yunye’s hand and began walking back to her room.
After she had walked a bit, Luo Yunye turned to glare at Luo Yunyi and said in a low voice, “Make a fist. Raise it.”
Luo Yunyi blinked, confused, but did as she was told. In the next second, Luo Yunye collapsed onto the ground, clutching her face and groaning in pain.
“What the hell are you doing? ” Luo Yunyi stared at her in disbelief.
Luo Yunye looked at her pitifully. “Sis, why’d you hit me?”
Luo Yunyi was stunned. She glanced at Qin Yiwan in the distance, then at her still-raised fist, and realized too late that she’d been set up. Flustered, she shouted, “Wanwan, I didn’t hit her! I didn’t even touch her!”
Qin Yiwan glanced at the drama unfolding behind her and said, “You should go home now.”
“I swear I didn’t hit her! Wanwan, please believe me!”
There was no one else in the hallway—no witnesses to back her up. Luo Yunyi felt utterly wronged. She thought she was shameless, but clearly, Luo Yunye had taken it to another level.
“I believe you,” Qin Yiwan said.
Luo Yunyi’s face lit up. “Then I’ll come see you again tomorrow.”
Once she was gone, Luo Yunye stayed on the floor, unmoving. She felt like a complete fool. What had possessed her to do something that dumb?
Qin Yiwan ignored her and returned to her room.
It wasn’t until a nurse passed by that Luo Yunye awkwardly got up, dusted herself off, and followed her inside.
Not long after, Qin Rushuang arrived with Grandma Qin.
Seeing her awake, the old lady was visibly overjoyed, wiping tears from her eyes. She asked about her condition, and only after confirming she was well did she finally relax.
Then, she saw Luo Yunye and waved her over with a smile. “Yunye, come here.”
Luo Yunye stepped forward obediently. “Grandma.”
The old lady took her hand and placed it over Qin Yiwan’s. “Yunye took care of you all the time you were in a coma. She was so attentive.”
“She even ate her meals in your room so you wouldn’t feel alone. And knowing how much you love gardenias, she had a whole patch transplanted outside your window—when the wind blows, the scent fills your room. It’s wonderful.”
“Before Yunye came, we couldn’t find anyone we trusted to wash you up. But after she arrived, she handled everything herself. She even made sure every crease between your fingers was clean…”
At first, Qin Yiwan felt nothing. But when she heard that Luo Yunye had been the one bathing her, her ears turned bright red. She quickly interrupted.
“Grandma,” she said, clearly flustered, “I—I’m a bit tired. I think I’ll rest now. You should head back too.”
“Of course, of course,” her grandma patted their joined hands. “I’m very happy with this granddaughter-in-law. With her taking care of you, I can rest easy.”
After sending them off, Qin Yiwan let out a long breath.
Just the thought that Luo Yunye had seen every inch of her body made her squirm. She got up, opened the wardrobe, and found a towel and nightgown before heading to the bathroom.
Inside, all the toiletries were brand new and of her favorite brands. There was no way the hospital had provided them—nor would her two moms have prepared them. It could only have been Luo Yunye.
Qin Yiwan wasn’t surprised. For Luo Yunye to secure a place in the Qin household, winning over her two moms and her grandma—and her—was a necessary step. She accepted it as a matter of course and made full use of her care.
Under the hot water, her body felt like a withered flower drinking in long-awaited rain. She slowly washed every inch of skin Luo Yunye had touched.
She was just grateful she didn’t remember any of it—because if she did…
One of them probably wouldn’t have made it out alive.
She stayed in the shower too long. The steam filled the room, and the air thinned without her realizing. Dazed, she accidentally knocked over a bottle of body wash. It hit the floor with a crisp thud, but it barely snapped her out of it.
Luo Yunye heard the noise and ran to the door. “A’Wan, are you okay?”
Qin Yiwan, breathless and dizzy, wrapped herself in a towel. “I’m feeling dizzy. Open the door.”
Luo Yunye tried, but the door was locked. She jiggled the handle, then got ready to kick it in—until she realized it might hit Qin Yiwan.
So instead, she braced herself and forced the door open with her shoulder.
As soon as she stepped inside, Qin Yiwan shouted, “Don’t come in!”
But Luo Yunye saw her pale face and faltering body. She rushed over in three strides and scooped her into her arms.
“Luo Yunye, don’t touch me!” Qin Yiwan shrieked, her skin crawling.
She had never been held like this—so disheveled, so helpless. Her heart raced wildly. “Put me down!”
Luo Yunye laid her on the bed, chuckling as she teased, “What’s there to be afraid of? We’re married now. Everything’s perfectly legal.”
“Don’t!”
Without thinking, Qin Yiwan slapped her across the face. The crisp sound echoed through the room like a firecracker.
