After the Divorce, the Heiress Omega Regretted It - Chapter 3
Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, the storm raged like the end of the world—lightning cracked, thunder rolled, and rain lashed violently against the glass.
Luo Yunye stood in the room, watching through the windows as a little girl crouched in the corner of the balcony, trembling.
Qin Yiwan couldn’t have been more than a few years old. Her light pink nightdress was completely soaked, her long hair clinging to her small frame, making her look like a stray puppy abandoned in the pouring rain. Her eyes were red, tears still spilling from them.
She sobbed quietly, her thin shoulders shivering. She looked utterly pitiful.
Luo Yunye couldn’t help herself—she reached out, intending to open the window. She only meant to try, but her hand had already touched the frame and… the door opened.
It opened.
It took Luo Yunye a couple of seconds to realize she could actually touch things in this place.
While she was frozen in surprise, Qin Yiwan heard the door open. Thinking it was her mother coming to let her in, she lifted her head but only to see a beautiful stranger standing there.
The wind howled past the open window, rushing into the room like a flood, whipping the curtains and the woman’s long hair back, revealing a cold, striking face.
Qin Yiwan had never seen someone so beautiful. She stared, stunned, her little face still streaked with tears.
Lightning split the sky. Thunder boomed. The sound seemed to shake Qin Yiwan’s tiny heart.
She watched as Luo Yunye frowned, clutching at her wind-blown red dress. Her eyes swept over her long, pale legs before returning to her face.
“Who are you?”
Qin Yiwan’s voice trembled, tinged with sobs and heartbreak. She sounded devastated.
The woman didn’t answer—she turned and disappeared from the doorway.
Qin Yiwan thought she must’ve imagined it, until the pretty woman came back, this time holding her bath towel.
She walked up and draped the towel over the little girl’s shoulders, then pulled her into a warm embrace.
Qin Yiwan was soaked and freezing. Being suddenly wrapped in warmth made her nose sting—and the tears came rushing again.
“Did… did my mom ask you to come take care of me?”
She couldn’t stop crying as she spoke. Her tears fell like the rain outside, soaking Luo Yunye’s shoulder.
Luo Yunye didn’t know what had happened in their family, but she could see clearly that Qin Yiwan desperately wished it was her mother, Qin Rushuang, who had come.
She nodded and gently patted her back, replying softly, “Yes, President Qin asked me to take care of you. It’s too windy and cold out here—let’s go inside.”
Luo Yunye helped Qin Yiwan to her feet. But the girl had been squatting too long—her legs had gone numb. As she tried to stand, they gave out and she stumbled straight into Luo Yunye’s arms.
She barely reached Luo Yunye’s ribs—so tiny. Bending down, Luo Yunye scooped her up easily, cradling her like a toddler.
Qin Yiwan gasped, shocked by how strong the beautiful woman was. She looked at her closely, noticing how long and thick her eyelashes were—like tiny little brushes.
“Are you an alpha?”
Luo Yunye didn’t know how the girl could tell, but she nodded.
Qin Yiwan explained, “They say alphas are really strong… like, strong enough to carry an adult.”
Luo Yunye brought her into the bathroom, set her in the tub, and turned on the warm water. Seeing the little girl staring blankly, she reached over to ruffle her hair with a smile.
“You can try it yourself someday.”
When Luo Yunye left, Qin Yiwan wiped her tears and took off her wet nightdress. As the warm water filled the tub, her chilled body slowly began to thaw.
She sat there, hugging her knees in silence. But thoughts of her sister… her two moms… brought the tears back.
It was all her fault.
If she hadn’t taken her sister out to play, none of this would’ve happened. Her sister would be fine. Their family wouldn’t have fallen apart.
It was all her fault.
The sadness grew heavier and heavier, like a hand pulling her down. She slowly slid under the water.
“The bathrobe and pajamas are at the door.”
There was no reply. No sound at all.
Luo Yunye, leaning by the door, called again, “Did you hear me?”
Still no answer.
She pushed the door open—only to see Qin Yiwan submerged in the tub, her eyes wide open underwater.
Luo Yunye’s heart stopped. She rushed over and pulled her out.
Qin Yiwan choked on water and started coughing violently. Luo Yunye wrapped her in her arms, gently patting her back.
She was furious, but held back.
“Qin Yiwan, you won’t die. Don’t try this again. All it’ll bring is more pain.”
Even though she knew Qin Yiwan couldn’t really die—not here, not like this—seeing her underwater like that still scared her. Looking back, she felt she may have overreacted… but she didn’t regret it.
Qin Yiwan didn’t speak. She just leaned against Luo Yunye and cried for a while. Eventually, the warmth lulled her to sleep.
Luo Yunye gently lifted her out of the tub, wrapped her in the towel, and carried her to bed. She tucked her in under the thin blanket and, despite not feeling too tired, realized the whole ordeal had worn her out.
She looked at her soaked dress, sighed, and went to take a shower. With nothing else to wear, and feeling drowsy, she simply slipped under the covers next to Qin Yiwan.
After all, in the real world, they were already sharing a bed.
When she opened her eyes again, she was still in the Qin family home, second floor. Everything repeated as before—except this time, the thunderstorm scene never arrived.
Qin Yiwan had grown taller and more mature. The childishness of elementary school had faded, and the dreamy air of a middle schooler had taken its place.
But her sister… her sister still looked five years old, frozen in time.
This time, Luo Yunye realized she couldn’t touch anything in this world—and Qin Yiwan couldn’t see her either.
That was strange.
Just as she was puzzling over it, the doorbell rang.
“Who is it?”
Qin Yiwan was in her room, playing with toys alongside her sister. When no one answered, she got up to open the door and was met with a man outside.
Her heart skipped a beat.
Every ounce of bl00d in her body seemed to freeze and run backward. Her legs turned to jelly, the toy slipped from her hand, and she screamed.
“Aaaahhh!!”
Luo Yunye shot awake from the dream.
Beside her, little Qin Yiwan was gasping in panic—back to her elementary school self.
She could touch her again.
Luo Yunye glanced at her hand. Before sleeping, she had held Qin Yiwan’s hand. That must’ve pulled her into a dream within a dream.
In that dream, Qin Yiwan’s sister was alive. Their family was whole and happy.
Until that knock at the door shattered it all.
That man—whoever he was—must’ve been the reason everything fell apart. If only she’d seen his face.
“Don’t be scared. It was just a dream. No one’s going to hurt you.”
Luo Yunye pulled Qin Yiwan into her arms, comforting her trembling body.
Qin Yiwan didn’t resist. She clung to Luo Yunye, her heart still racing, fear clinging to her like mist. She desperately wanted her mother.
But her mother would never hold her again.
They hated her.
Tears spilled again as she wept quietly into Luo Yunye’s arms.
At that moment, all she wanted was someone—anyone—to stay by her side. She didn’t care who the person was or why they were there. She just didn’t want to face the endless night and fear alone anymore.
Luo Yunye never imagined her breathtakingly beautiful future wife had such a tragic past. Even someone who had seen death more times than she could count couldn’t help but ache for her.
She cupped Qin Yiwan’s little face, gently wiped away her tears, and promised,
“From now on, I’ll be here for you. If you ever have nightmares, think of me. I’ll come beat up the bad guys for you.
Oh, right—my name’s Luo Yunye.”
She wanted to add I’m your future wife, but thought better of it. The girl was still in elementary school. No need to throw her into an early existential crisis.
“Luo Yunye?”
Qin Yiwan looked up at her, eyes glistening. “You’ll really stay with me? But you’re an alpha… what if my mom won’t let you—”
Before she could finish, Luo Yunye’s figure faded away.
All she heard was a soft voice:
“I’m your guardian. Your mom can’t stop me. I’ll come back to find you. Soon.”
Luo Yunye opened her eyes in the real world, woken by the sound of someone knocking—nonstop.
Annoyed, she swung out of bed, yanked open the door without even brushing her hair, and snapped, “Butler Lin, what now?”
The man remained impeccably polite.
“Young madam, it’s 6:30 p.m. It’s time for dinner.”
She hadn’t expected to sleep that long. Quickly smoothing her expression, she flashed a friendly smile.
“Right, I’ll be down in a minute.”
She closed the door, went to the vanity, and fixed her hair and makeup.
Before heading out, she leaned in close to whisper to the still-sleeping Qin Yiwan,
“Once I’m done with dinner, I’ll come find you. Just wait for me.”
Luo Yunye had planned to eat quickly and head back—but at the table, Qin Rushuang brought up the idea of letting her intern at the company.
She was currently on summer break of her junior year. It was indeed time for internships.
According to the novel, the original Luo Yunye had entered the Qin Corporation at this point, worked through various departments, and eventually rose through the ranks with stellar performance.
But Luo Yunye had no interest in chasing career glory. She’d already lived through countless lifetimes and conquered all kinds of empires. She just wanted to enjoy a wealthy, carefree life now.
She was about to refuse when Grandma spoke first, “Yunye’s studying AI, right? Let her intern in the robotics division.”
“Grandma, Mom, I don’t remember agreeing to intern at all.”
She glanced between the two women, sensing her direct refusal might seem a bit brash. Flashing a warm smile, she added,
“I mean, summer vacation’s not over yet. I want to spend more time with Wanwan before I go.”
Hearing this, both women looked visibly comforted.
The company was massive, and with Qin Yiwan falling ill, Qin Rushuang had taken on the extra workload of managing the Bell Tower Hotel. Her schedule was packed.
Other family branches had started stirring, eyeing the inheritance like vultures, forcing the elderly matriarch to step back in and hold the line.
Du Weimin helped manage a branch company. Though not overwhelmed, she still couldn’t spend much time with Qin Yiwan.
Now that Luo Yunye was here, someone could finally talk to the girl—even if she might not respond. That, at least, gave them peace of mind.
“Then go after summer ends,” Grandma said.
Du Weimin chimed in with a laugh, “The robotics team is pretty snobby. They look down on interns. I’ll go with Yunye on her first day—make sure they take care of her.”
In the book, Du Weimin did exactly that… and Luo Yunye was immediately labeled a backdoor case, mocked as useless, and iced out of projects.
Luo Yunye had no intention of reliving that nonsense.
“Thank you, Aunt Du, but I’ll go by myself. If everyone knows I’m from the Qin family, the internship won’t mean anything. I’d rather stay home and take care of Wanwan.”
Calling her Aunt Du, like a servant, made Du Weimin choke on air.
Du Weimin was deeply displeased but kept up her polite smile. “If you need anything, just ask. I’ll help however I can.”
Luo Yunye returned her smile—deadpan. “Thanks, Aunt Du.”
With that, she set down her chopsticks.
“Grandma, Mom, I’m done. I’ll go keep Wanwan company. You two enjoy your meal.”
