- After the Divorce, the Heiress Omega Regretted It
- Chapter 33 - Before entering the room, she hadn’t known there’d be a bed inside.
Luo Yunye had drunk a bit too much the night before, and the next morning, she woke up parched.
Her head was pounding. Rubbing her temples, she rolled over and got up, pulled on her robe, and opened the door to head downstairs for a glass of water.
Just as she stepped out, the door next to hers opened as well. She turned her head and came face-to-face with Qin Yiwan. Their eyes met, and both of them froze for a second.
Qin Yiwan was dressed in a sleek black trench coat today, paired with a black fitted skirt that hugged her waist. Her long legs were clad in sheer black tights, and she wore elegant black heels. Her chestnut hair fell in soft, voluminous waves down her back. The look was sexy but not over the top—perfectly dignified.
She really seemed to favor black. Everything she wore was some shade of it, with only a few metallic accessories providing contrast.
Seeing the bag in Qin Yiwan’s hand, Luo Yunye figured she was heading out for breakfast and then to work. She smiled and greeted her, “Morning, Yiwan-jie.”
Qin Yiwan glanced at her face, checking for any signs of injury. Seeing none, she gave a cool nod. “Mm.”
They walked downstairs together—Qin Yiwan heading for the dining table, and Luo Yunye going to the kitchen for a glass of water. She returned and joined her at the table for breakfast.
While eating, she casually asked, “Is Luo Yunyi’s fever bad?”
Qin Yiwan hadn’t expected her to ask about Luo Yunyi and was momentarily surprised. But then she reminded herself that, after all, the two were sisters. It wasn’t strange for her to care.
“It’s not serious. The doctor prescribed some medication and told her to rest at the hospital.”
“Oh, is Yiwan-jie going to visit her again today?”
Qin Yiwan wasn’t sure whether she was genuinely asking out of concern for Luo Yunyi or trying to subtly figure out her own schedule. She gave her a glance, then replied calmly, “She’s not a child anymore. She can take care of herself.”
Luo Yunye nodded, secretly pleased as she thought about the plans she’d made for tonight—dinner by candlelight and a movie. “Then I’ll leave work early and come pick you up this afternoon.”
Qin Yiwan was about to turn her down but then remembered that one of the “ten things” Luo Yunye had said she wanted to do was to pick her up from work. So she nodded. “Alright.”
“Ugh…” Luo Yunye tapped her forehead with a groan. “If I’d known, I wouldn’t have drunk so much last night. Then I could’ve driven you to work this morning.”
Qin Yiwan didn’t look at her but asked casually, “How are your friends?”
“My friends?” Luo Yunye was confused for a second, wondering why she was suddenly asking about them. “They’re fine.”
Qin Yiwan didn’t know exactly what kind of people Luo Yunye’s friends were, but if they were the type to get into fights at bars in the middle of the night and call her over for backup, they probably weren’t anything good.
“Even though we’re getting divorced, as long as our marriage is still valid, I hope you’ll remember your status and not cause trouble in public.”
Her voice was gentle but firm. After finishing her breakfast, she wiped her mouth and stood, picking up her bag. “I’m heading to work.”
Luo Yunye was a little stunned by the reminder. What trouble had she caused?
After Qin Yiwan left, she called over Butler Lin. “When did Yiwan-jie get home last night? Did she say anything?”
Butler Lin recounted the conversation she’d had with Qin Yiwan the night before. Luo Yunye nodded. “So that’s why she told me not to make a scene. She thought I’d get into a fight while covering for my friends.”
“Then who won the fight last night?” Butler Lin asked with genuine curiosity.
“There was no fight. My friends just made that up to trick me into going out. It was actually a surprise birthday party.”
“Oh, thank goodness. You scared me. But honestly, I still believe in you, ma’am. Even if it had come to a fight, I’m sure you would’ve knocked them all flat.”
Luo Yunye couldn’t help but laugh. She stood and patted her shoulder. “You really know how to talk, Butler Lin. Be sure to give me praises in front of Yiwan-jie, okay?”
“Of course, ma’am. Don’t worry!”
That day, Luo Yunye was two minutes late to work. As soon as she sat down, Du Wendy slammed a file on her desk and tapped the tabletop sharply. “You’re two minutes late. Finish this by tonight—you’re staying late.”
“I don’t have time to work overtime tonight.” Luo Yunye stood up and shoved the file back into her arms. “If it’s so important, do it yourself.”
“You—!”
No one in the office had ever dared talk to Du Wendy like that. Her face twisted in anger, and she pointed at Luo Yunye, gritting her teeth. “Keep it up, and I’ll fire you tomorrow!”
Arms crossed, Luo Yunye raised an eyebrow. “Oh? You own this company now? You think you can just fire people on a whim?”
“You just wait,” Du Wendy snarled, pointing a shaking finger at her. “You’re finished.”
“I’ll wait.” Luo Yunye’s voice was light, unfazed.
After Du Wendy stormed off, Zhang Tingting peeked into the room nervously. Her heart racing, she rushed over to Luo Yunye’s desk.
“She’s definitely going to Du Zong! Yunye, why were you so impulsive? You could’ve just let me take over the task.”
Zhang Tingting was the type who dreaded conflict. Even the slightest disturbance made her panic.
Luo Yunye patted her arm gently. “Tingting-jie, relax. She won’t dare touch me.”
Meanwhile, Du Wendy had barged into Du Weimin’s office, demanding Luo Yunye be fired.
At the time, Du Weimin was reading a file. She looked up as Du Wendy burst in angrily and asked what had happened. Then she calmly closed the file and gestured for Du Wendy to shut the door.
Once the door was closed, Du Weimin beckoned her over. Just as Du Wendy opened her mouth to complain about Luo Yunye’s attitude, Du Weimin suddenly slapped her across the face.
“What did I tell you before? Stay out of Luo Yunye’s business. You think I was joking?”
Du Wendy clutched her face in shock, tears welling up. “You hit me? You’ve never hit me before. And now you’re hitting me over that Luo Yunye? You don’t love me anymore…”
She sobbed uncontrollably, completely confused.
“You know who she is?” Du Weimin’s voice was cold. Truthfully, she already found Luo Yunye irritating, and now that Du Wendy had gotten into it with her too, she was even more annoyed. Might as well tell her the whole truth.
“She’s Qin Yiwan’s legal wife.”
“You’re just siding with Qin Yiwan! You love her so much you’re even protecting her wife. You don’t love me anymore!”
Du Weimin massaged her temples, exhausted. She figured her daughter was just young and naive, so she didn’t argue with her. “Think carefully. If the Qin family finds out about you, even I’ll be out on the street. If you want this entire family to starve, go right ahead—keep pushing Luo Yunye’s buttons.”
Realizing how serious it really was, Du Wendy stopped crying and quickly wiped her tears. She clutched her mother’s arm pitifully. “Mom, I’m sorry. I won’t go against Luo Yunye again. Please don’t be mad.”
Du Weimin pulled her into an embrace and stroked her back. “Everything I do is for you. When will you grow up and stand on your own like Yiwan?”
Later, Du Wendi returned to the office wearing a mask. Although she was still resentful, she never dared provoke Luo Yunye again.
No matter how much she hated being compared to Qin Yiwan, she had nothing to say in her own defense.
She looked at the pet robot proposal Yunye had worked on. If it succeeded, it would win everyone’s admiration—and she couldn’t bear to give up on such a promising project.
That afternoon, Luo Yunye left work early and waited outside the Bell Tower Hotel to pick up Qin Yiwan. The street was busy, and no one paid attention to whose car Yiwan was getting into.
“Where are we having dinner, Jie?”
Yiwan gave her an address.
Although theBell Tower Hotel was famous for its cuisine and ambiance, Yiwan was worried about being recognized by staff, so she’d opted for a private dining experience elsewhere.
She’d booked out an entire private restaurant, just for the two of them.
Yunye pulled up outside. Someone came out to valet the car. She opened the door for Yiwan and followed her into the restaurant.
The owner greeted Yiwan warmly and said everything was ready.
Yunye noticed candles placed around the restaurant, giving it a soft, romantic atmosphere.
They were led into a private room. One by one, beautifully plated dishes were served, candlelight flickering and casting a golden, warm glow across Yiwan’s delicate features.
A soft violin melody played outside. Yiwan cut into her steak and glanced around. “So… how do you feel about this candlelit dinner?”
“It’s perfect. I really like it. Thank you, Jie.”
Yunye was in a great mood. She couldn’t help but admire Yiwan’s innate sense of romance. If she really gave her heart to someone, who could resist falling for her?
“I’m glad,” Yiwan said with a gentle smile.
But she’d barely eaten a few bites when her phone rang. Seeing it was her assistant, she stood up. “I’ll take this outside.”
Yunye watched her go, then picked up her steak and began slicing it for her. After a while, when she still hadn’t returned, she grew concerned.
The restaurant was warm from the candlelight. Earlier, Yiwan had taken off her coat and hung it up. Thinking she might be cold outside, Yunye grabbed the coat and went looking for her.
She asked a server, who said Yiwan was in the courtyard. Sure enough, she spotted her with her back turned, speaking into the phone.
Yunye approached quietly and draped the coat over her shoulders. “It’s cold outside, Jie.”
Yiwan flinched but relaxed when she saw it was her. She pulled the coat tighter and finished up her call.
“Have you finished eating?”
“No. I came out because I thought you might be cold.”
“Let’s go back in.”
Back at the table, Yiwan picked at her food absentmindedly while responding to more messages.
Yunye sat across from her, chin propped in her hand, silently watching. She added a few dishes to Yiwan’s plate and didn’t even bother hiding the affection in her gaze.
Yiwan had tied up her hair, with just a few wisps framing her face. Her fingers were long and slender, thumbs flying as she typed.
When she looked up and noticed Yunye staring, she paused. “Are you done eating?”
“I am. You didn’t eat much—have a bit more.”
“I’m good.” Yiwan glanced at the time. “If we head to the theater now, we’ll be just on time.”
She’d booked a private cinema.
She hadn’t realized until they arrived that the room came with a bed.
She’d assumed private cinemas were just like private restaurants—discreet, but otherwise normal. But the large bed gave the whole setup a… questionable vibe.
And worst of all, she’d been the one to book it. Clearly too naive.
There was a bed and a couch.
“We’re already here,” she said calmly. “You can lie on the bed and watch. I’ll sit on the couch and finish replying to messages.”
Yunye could tell Yiwan was startled—probably her first time at a place like this. Trying not to laugh, she obediently got on the bed.
As Yiwan sat on the couch and typed away, the movie played in the background, forgotten.
Yunye knew she was just trying to check off the “ten things” before their divorce. The details didn’t matter.
At one point, Yiwan answered a call. Yunye, sharp-eared, heard her say softly, “Yunyi, how are you?”
A pause, then: “I’m watching a movie right now; it’s not convenient to talk. Take your meds and sleep early.
Yeah, I’m with Yunye. Don’t worry, she’s not bothering me. Alright, rest well.”
After the call, Yiwan finally looked up—right as the screen showed a couple kissing passionately.
Awkwardly, she looked away.
Just then, Yunye scooted closer, startling her.
“What are you doing?” she asked warily.
Yunye, briefly caught in a daydream about a similar movie scene from her dreams, smiled. “Nothing. Just wanted to be closer to you.”
Yiwan relaxed a little but stayed alert, clutching her phone and tapping at the screen nervously. She avoided looking at Yunye, but every small movement set her on edge.
She deeply regretted choosing this place. Every sense was hyperfocused on Yunye’s presence. But thankfully, Yunye behaved herself the whole time.
Once the movie ended and they stepped outside, Yiwan breathed a huge sigh of relief and called Housekeeper Lin for a ride.
“You’re not coming home with me?” Yunye asked.
“I still have some work to do at the office.”
“I’ll drive you there and wait until you’re done. Then we can go back together.”
“No need.” Yiwan hesitated, then added, “I just want some time alone.”
Spending the whole evening with her had worn her out more than a full day at the office.
“Did I make you uncomfortable?”
“It’s not that,” Yiwan replied honestly. “I’m just not used to interacting with alphas outside of work.”
“What about Luo Yunyi, then?”
The words slipped out of Yunye’s mouth. “You don’t have a working relationship with her either, yet you took her to the hospital at night.”
As soon as she saw the cold gleam in Yiwan’s eyes, she regretted it. Why compare herself to Luo Yunyi? She already knew she could never win that comparison.
