- Chapter 38 - What Exactly Did You Do to Me?
Luo Yunye cupped her face gently and kissed her lips—softly, almost timidly, as if afraid that the moment might shatter like a dream.
Their warm breaths mingled. Qin Yiwan smiled tenderly, wrapping her arms around Luo Yunye’s neck and gently pressing her down onto the bed. Her long hair cascaded down like a curtain as she leaned in to kiss her again—fiercely, but with tenderness.
Luo Yunye held her tightly, an overwhelming urge to cry rising in her chest.
After getting up, they picked out outfits for each other and helped with makeup. Then, hand in hand under the rising sun, they took a few selfies together.
Worried that her primary personality might find the photos and discover A’Wan’s presence, Luo Yunye used her own phone to take the pictures. But Qin Yiwan snatched it from her with a grin. “Let me see. I want to see!”
Both of them were stunning by any standard. No matter what expression they made, every photo looked like it belonged in a magazine—barely a bad shot among them.
“Let’s take one with our rings.”
They held up their hands, forming a heart shape, the rising sun caught perfectly between their palms. The rings on their fourth fingers glinted in the light.
Qin Yiwan loved the shot and told Luo Yunye to set it as her lock screen.
They’d dressed carefully to keep a low profile, but everywhere they went, they held hands like any young couple in love—feeding each other, sharing drinks.
Along the way, they casually recorded videos—screaming with reckless abandon on the roller coaster (almost losing their hats), taking sweet photos hand-in-hand on the carousel, and admiring the city from the top of the Ferris wheel.
As they passed by the haunted house, Qin Yiwan teased, “Want to go in?”
Luo Yunye raised an eyebrow and smirked. “Sure, who’s afraid of a little scare?”
Once inside, eerie music played as a cold gust of wind brushed past them. The unsettling atmosphere crept in. Qin Yiwan held her hand. “If you get scared, just hold onto me tight. Don’t go running off.”
Luo Yunye lifted their interlocked hands. “Don’t worry. I’ll never let you go.”
The interior was pitch-black—skulls, bl00d stains, green flickering lights—it was unsettling. Fog crawled through the space, making it nearly impossible to see. They slowly made their way through by feel.
Soon, they heard shrieks and footsteps pounding nearby. Even though they’d been calm before, the sudden chaos pulled them into the hysteria, and they took off running too.
Their sprint spurred a mini stampede. After weaving through a maze-like section, they found themselves separated from the rest. Surrounded by darkness, only creepy music and the chilly wind remained.
Qin Yiwan, unfazed, laughed. “Where the hell are we? Feels like we ran to the edge of the map—there’s no one around!”
Just then, a pale shadow floated by. She pointed at it. “Hey, was that a real person or a prop?”
“No idea,” Luo Yunye replied. “Let’s go find out.”
The girl dressed as a ghost hadn’t expected them to be so fearless—chasing after her, even. Panicked, she turned and ran.
And so began a game of cat and mouse through the haunted maze. Eventually, the ghost girl accidentally collided head-on with Qin Yiwan. Both of them groaned from the impact.
“A’wan, are you okay?”
Luo Yunye couldn’t see well in the dark, only that she was holding her head. She scooped her up immediately and asked the girl, “How do we get out of here?”
The performer pointed them toward the exit, clutching her own head with an “Oww oww” before going back to playing ghost.
Qin Yiwan’s head buzzed. The haunted house’s chaotic music wasn’t helping. Somewhere in the haze, she heard someone calling her—“A’Wan, A’Wan…”
The voice sounded near… but also oddly distant.
When she came to, she found herself in a pitch-black room, cradled in someone’s arms. Judging by the voice, it was Luo Yunye.
Where was she?
Rubbing her aching head, she looked up at the worried face hovering over her. Her voice calm, she asked, “Where are we?”
The moment Luo Yunye heard her speak so composedly, her racing heart slowed. Her steps instinctively hesitated.
Was this A’Wan playing with her? Testing her?
She tried, tentatively: “Jiejie?”
“Luo Yunye.” Qin Yiwan lightly tapped her arm. “Put me down. I can walk.”
A’wan rarely called her by her full name—and never with that cold, distant tone. Luo Yunye felt a heaviness settle in her chest as she set her down.
Qin Yiwan looked around at the surreal green-glowing decor. A cold discomfort crept over her. “How do we get out?”
Luo Yunye walked ahead to lead the way. Out of habit, she reached back for Qin Yiwan’s hand—only for it to be gently pulled away.
“Just walk ahead. I’ll follow. No need to hold hands.”
Luo Yunye’s heart twisted in regret. If she’d known this would happen, she never would’ve brought A’wan to the haunted house. They could’ve ended the day with perfect memories instead.
As they left, Qin Yiwan noticed they were still in the amusement park. Looking at their matching outfits, it was clear they were wearing couple’s clothes.
But it was a workday. There was no way she would come here with Luo Yunye—much less in matching outfits.
Even stranger, her memory only stretched to the night of her birthday. After that, everything was blank.
Her expression turned ice-cold. “What exactly did you do to me?”
Now, she had every reason to doubt the story about becoming a vegetable after a car crash. If she could lose her memory so easily now, what if that was fabricated too?
The more she thought about it, the more terrifying Luo Yunye seemed—capable of hiding her condition from her entire family and dragging her off to play like nothing had happened.
“Jiejie, I didn’t do anything,” Luo Yunye insisted. “You promised you’d spend a day at the amusement park with me. Did you forget?”
She had promised ten things and then a divorce. But this memory loss was too suspicious.

Qin Yiwan immediately called their family doctor, Xu Nuo, for a full check-up. Back home, she changed out of the cheongsam and into all-black clothes.
The sight of those unfamiliar, cheerful clothes made her uncomfortable. She touched her neck uneasily, then tossed the outfit into the trash, out of sight and mind.
When Xu Nuo arrived and ran her tests, she eventually said, “Ms. Qin, your body is recovering well. Aside from the recent memory lapses, there’s nothing physically wrong.”
“I… really was in a vegetative state?”
Xu Nuo paused, then nodded. “Losing your memory may have been a blessing in disguise. During your coma, you might’ve experienced intense psychological stress. The memory loss could be your brain’s way of protecting you.”
Xu Nuo had been the family doctor for years. She wouldn’t lie for Luo Yunye. It seemed the accident and coma were real after all.
“Then what about these recent blackouts? Are they also a side effect of treatment?”
“It’s possible.”
“One more thing.” Qin Yiwan hesitated before lifting her hair, revealing the gland at the back of her neck. “Can you check if there’s anything wrong with it?”
Xu Nuo examined it closely. “No issues—very clean, intact. Doesn’t look like it’s ever been bitten.”
Qin Yiwan let out a small sigh of relief. She’d been terrified that something irreversible had happened with Luo Yunye during her blackout. That kind of trauma might have shattered the emotional balance she’d worked so hard to maintain—and driven her to madness.
Once Xu Nuo left, Qin Yiwan headed out. At the stairwell, she ran into Luo Yunye, who had just returned from escorting the doctor.
Without emotion, she said, “I won’t be coming home tonight. Do what you need to do. Once you’ve figured it out, sign the divorce papers and bring them to me.”
With that, she grabbed her bag and left.
At the office, she found her desk buried in paperwork. Furious, she snapped at her assistant team for not handling it.
“Why didn’t you call me for signatures? Why didn’t you deal with these?”
Her assistants looked nervously at each other. One spoke up cautiously: “President Qin, you told us not to disturb you. After that, we tried calling, but you didn’t answer.”
She made them repeat the conversation. Only then did she realize—she had called them herself, told them she’d be taking time off, and put her phone on silent.
“Fine. Get out.”
Now her head pounded. She couldn’t recall anything from the blackout. No matter how hard she tried, there was no clue—so she gave up and focused on work instead.
It wasn’t until lunch, when her assistant asked what she wanted to eat, that she finally got a break. Just then, her phone rang. It was Luo Yunyi.
The moment she answered, Luo Yunyi’s voice came through, full of worry: “Wanwan, what’s going on? You haven’t answered my calls or texts in days. I was so worried!”
“I’m fine. Just really busy. Didn’t have time to reply.”
“About the birthday gift I sent you… did you like it?”
Qin Yiwan had forgotten all about it. It was still at the hotel, unopened. “Yeah, I liked it.”
“I’m glad.” Luo Yunyi’s voice softened, a little shy. “I was worried you wouldn’t like something like that. You’re always so serious… but everyone uses these. I thought maybe you could try it too. And if you don’t know how… I could teach you.”
Qin Yiwan found her wording a little strange but brushed it off, thanking her politely.
Later that day, she returned to the hotel and spotted two gift boxes on the nightstand. The larger one contained an expensive necklace. The smaller one held a delicate, little pink gadget—shaped like a cute seal.
She picked it up—didn’t look like a whistle or a decoration. Curious, she scanned it with her phone.
The result shocked her.
It was a s3x toy. Luo Yunyi had given her that, then asked if she liked it—and she’d said yes. She remembered Luo Yunyi’s words: “If you don’t know how, I can teach you.”
Clutching her forehead, Qin Yiwan tossed the thing into the trash.
So that’s what she was scheming.
She had truly underestimated Luo Yunyi’s intentions. Just like Luo Yunye—neither of them was any good.
