After the Divorce, the Heiress Omega Regretted It - Chapter 41
Under Lin Wu’s hypnosis, Qin Yiwan entered the dreamscape accompanied by two bodyguards. They landed on a bustling city street neither of them recognized—cars whizzing by, crowds surging past.
Qin Yiwan frowned, irritated. Couldn’t Lin Wu have created a simpler environment? Searching for an alternate personality in a place this complex was like looking for a needle in a haystack.
One of the bodyguards explained, “This dream was constructed based on your real-life surroundings. You grew up in a city, so naturally the dream reflects that. But don’t worry—we can start by checking the places you frequent. That’s where we’re most likely to find the alter.”
He flagged down a cab, and the three of them climbed in. Qin Yiwan gave the driver her home address, but after turning the place upside down, they found nothing. They went to a hotel, then her workplace—still no sign of her alter ego.
Then Qin Yiwan remembered something: her alter didn’t like working. She liked shopping.
She directed the cab to the mall—and sure enough, she found her.
The figure’s back was unmistakable. Qin Yiwan took the gun from the bodyguard and aimed it at the woman’s silhouette, shouting, “Qin Yiwan!”
The alter turned at the sound—just in time to hear a gunshot ring out. Her eyes widened, but her reflexes were even faster. She dove to the side, rolled twice across the floor, and ducked into a nearby store.
Qin Yiwan hadn’t expected her to dodge a bullet. Caught off guard, she fired twice more toward where the alter had disappeared. The noise sent the entire building into chaos—people screamed and scattered in every direction.
Using the panic to her advantage, the alter bolted. The two bodyguards took off after her.
Qin Yiwan leaned over the railing, watching her other self deftly vault over the escalator and disappear into the crowd. Her heart was pounding.
Thank God I brought bodyguards and a gun, she thought grimly. If I had to face her one-on-one, I’d be the one dead.
She rushed downstairs and spotted the bodyguards giving chase in a car. She hailed a cab and jumped in. “Follow them!”
The chase turned into something out of an action movie. Her car weaved through heavy traffic at breakneck speed. At one point, they nearly crashed into a bus, but the driver swerved hard and squeezed through a narrow gap just in time.
Qin Yiwan had never experienced anything this intense. She barely had time to calm down when a car in front of them—one that had just been hit—was suddenly flung through the air, heading straight for them.
BANG!
The explosion was deafening. Her ears rang, and her surroundings became a blur.
She forced the door open and crawled out. Bl00d trickled from her head; her skull throbbed painfully.
She could vaguely hear someone calling her name.
“Wanwan! Wanwan, are you okay?!”
Qin Yiwan looked up and saw another version of herself—this one dressed in a matching couple’s qipao with Luo Yunye.
A’Wan pulled her into her arms, frantically dialing 120. “I’m calling an ambulance. Don’t be scared. You’re going to be okay.”
Gasping for air, Qin Yiwan suddenly understood.
She had two alter egos.
The first one—the one she encountered at the mall—was the agile, combative version who had once protected her as a child.
The one in front of her now, the one holding her and wearing matching clothes with Luo Yunye, was the one who had fallen in love with Yunye.
This was the one she had come here to kill.
Qin Yiwan’s hand trembled as she raised the gun and pointed it at A’Wan’s stomach—but she had no strength left. Darkness closed in.
She passed out.

When she gained consciousness, she was lying in a hospital bed. A’wan was at her side, eyes wide with joy.
“Thank goodness! Wanwan, you’re finally awake. The doctor said once you woke up, you’d be fine!”
She bent down and hugged her tightly, her voice trembling with relief. “I was so scared. You don’t know how worried I was.”
The warmth of her embrace made Qin Yiwan freeze.
She came here to kill this other personality, Qin Yiwan thought. And yet… she saved me. She’s treating me like one of her own.
“Let me go first,” she said gently, patting A’wan’s shoulder. “There’s something I need to ask you.”
“Ask me anything,” A’wan said, sitting beside her and peeling an apple.
Qin Yiwan studied her face—so like her own, yet somehow softer, brighter. Her lashes trembled. “When… when did you first appear?”
“Me?” A’wan paused. “Probably when you were in that vegetative state. I was still little then. I’d suffered the same trauma you did—losing A’Yao, being locked in that dark room by Mom. I didn’t want to live either.”
She smiled shyly as she spoke, “Then I met Yunye. She said she was my future wife. My guardian angel.”
“I didn’t believe her at first—I was just a kid. But she kept coming back. She took me to amusement parks, treated me to delicious food, and showed me what life could be like.”
“Slowly, I began to heal, and as I grew up, I fell in love with her.”
“She loved me. She loved you, too.”
“She told me about our three personalities. I knew that whenever she wasn’t with me, she was with you.”
“We’re all part of the same whole. I hoped that when I couldn’t be there for her, you would be.”
“But then… you forgot. You forgot everything—being in that coma, all you shared with her. You even forgot that you once loved her.”
“I never loved her.” Qin Yiwan’s voice cracked. Her eyes brimmed with tears as she turned her face away. “She was always in love with you—not me.”
“Wanwan.” A’wan handed her a slice of apple. “Loving someone isn’t shameful. Being loved is a beautiful thing. You’re capable of love. Don’t shut it out. Don’t close the door on your own happiness.”

When Luo Yunye entered the dreamscape, she found the first alter lying in a pool at the city square. She rushed over and gave her CPR.
Thankfully, the alter coughed up water and was revived. Luo Yunye patted her face urgently. “Where’s Qin Yiwan? And A’wan?!”
“No idea.” The alter lay flat on the ground, exhausted. “What the hell was that? She really tried to kill me.”
Cornered just moments ago, the two bodyguards had raised their guns at her. But before they could shoot, they’d vanished. She’d slipped and fallen into a pool—nearly drowned.
It must’ve been Luo Yunye who intervened and saved her.
“She probably mistook you for A’wan.”
Luo Yunye sighed and turned to leave. The alter scrambled to her feet.
“Hey, where are you going? Wait for me—I want answers too!”
Together, they searched the wrecked streets like headless chickens. Then Luo Yunye spotted something on the ground—a ring.
She ran over and picked it up.
It was the wedding ring she’d given to A’wan.
Someone nearby said they’d seen A’wan take her sister to the hospital.
Sister… That must’ve been Qin Yiwan.
They raced to the hospital and in one room, the three personalities finally stood face-to-face.
When A’wan saw Luo Yunye, she beamed and ran into her arms. “You’re here! How did you know we were here?”
Before Luo Yunye could answer, the first alter turned angrily to Qin Yiwan. “I’ve saved your life more times than I can count—and you sent people to kill me?!”
“I didn’t know there were three of us,” Qin Yiwan said softly. Her face had gone pale. She looked at the fierce, volatile version of herself and whispered, “I’m sorry.”
“What are you guys talking about?” A’wan turned toward the first alter ego, noticing her all-black combat outfit and bruised face. “Wow, you look so cool—like a real-life superhero!”
The first alter-ego rolled her eyes. She came here to kill you, and you’re nursing her in a hospital? You’re hopeless.
But with Luo Yunye nearby, she held her tongue. “You need to be more careful. Don’t get sold off and not even realize it.”
Then she stormed out.
A’wan stared dreamily after her. “She’s so cool…”
With just the three of them left, Luo Yunye cupped A’wan’s face. “Go wait outside for a bit. I need to talk to her alone.”
“Sure!” A’wan pointed to the apple in Qin Yiwan’s hand. “Don’t forget to eat that—it’ll turn brown soon!”
She left, shutting the door behind her.
Luo Yunye turned to Qin Yiwan, eyes brimming with sorrow. “You tried to kill A’wan… Was it because of me?”
Qin Yiwan bit into the apple. “Partly. I just don’t like variables. I don’t like anyone messing with my life.”
“I’ll divorce you,” Luo Yunye said, her voice trembling. “I’ll walk away with nothing—just please, don’t hurt them. They care about you. They never wanted to hurt you.”
“They matter to you,” Qin Yiwan said coldly. “To me, they’re just chaos.”
She glared at Luo Yunye. “Do you take me for a fool? What if one day the alter takes over my body? Wouldn’t that let you two be together again? What would I be then?”
Luo Yunye paused. “If you’re afraid I’ll be with A’wan, I swear—we’ll just be friends. I won’t cross any lines.”
“Oh?” Qin Yiwan laughed bitterly. “And you think you’ll be okay seeing her with another alpha? You think I won’t remarry? What if your beloved ends up in someone else’s arms—can you handle that?”
“No matter who you end up with—A’wan or you—I don’t want either of you to disappear. Even if you’re with someone else, I’ll stay out of it… as long as you’re both alive and well.”
“How noble of you,” Qin Yiwan sneered.
She reached under her pillow, grabbed the gun, and fired.
The bullet hit Luo Yunye in the chest.
A second later, A’wan burst in, having heard the shot. Qin Yiwan raised the gun again.
“Our lives,” she said coldly, “aren’t yours to decide.”
******
“No!”
Luo Yunye jerked awake, heart pounding. The pain in her chest lingered even after being forced out of the dream. She stumbled to her feet and collapsed.
Butler Lin rushed over. “Young Madam! Are you alright?”
“Get Dr. Lin—now! Do whatever it takes. Wake her up!”
By the time they reached the treatment room with Lin Wu, Qin Yiwan had already regained consciousness.
Luo Yunye froze in the doorway.
Qin Yiwan sat up slowly, rubbing her head. Her eyes were cold, and her demeanor was distant.
It’s her, Luo Yunye thought. The real Qin Yiwan.
She limped over, tears welling up. “Did you… did you kill A’wan?”
There was no other explanation. If A’wan had lived, she wouldn’t have woken up alone.
“Yes,” Qin Yiwan said calmly, pulling a divorce agreement from her bag. “Sign this. If we go now, we can still make it to the civil office in time.”
“You don’t regret it?”Luo Yunye, whispered, tears sliding down her cheeks.
She couldn’t save A’wan. She couldn’t even bring herself to hate Qin Yiwan.
It felt like the bullet in the dream had pierced her for real—hollowed her out from the inside.
Qin Yiwan didn’t know if she was asking about the alter’s death or the divorce. She drew a breath and said firmly, “No. I don’t regret it.”
With trembling hands, Luo Yunye took the pen and paper. As she signed, her tears fell onto the page.
She inhaled deeply. “Let’s go. To the Civil Bureau.”
