After the Divorce, the Heiress Omega Regretted It - Chapter 42
Just before they headed to the Civil Affairs Bureau, Luo Yunye suddenly said she had objections to the agreement and needed to make changes.
Qin Yiwan couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh. As expected, she’s still not satisfied. After giving her so much in the division of assets, it’s still not enough? She wants even more?
With a frosty expression, Qin Yiwan called in a trusted lawyer. But she hadn’t expected Luo Yunye to say, “Regarding the asset division in this divorce agreement—aside from the money, I don’t want anything else.”
“What do you mean, Luo Yunye?”
Qin Yiwan looked at her in disbelief.
The fixed assets she had allocated to Luo Yunye were no small sum, and she didn’t want any of them?
Luo Yunye ignored Qin Yiwan and simply handed the agreement to the lawyer across the table.
“Lawyer Tang, please revise it according to my request. Thank you.”
The divorce agreement had been drafted by Lawyer Tang, who had initially been stunned that Qin Yiwan was willing to hand over such a large portion of her assets to a wife she had been married to for less than six months. And now, she was stunned again—this little wife didn’t want any of it?
Does she even know those assets are worth over a billion yuan?
Lawyer Tang glanced at Luo Yunye, whose eyes were slightly red, then turned to Qin Yiwan, who looked confused. “If both of you are in agreement about the revised terms, I can amend the document according to Miss Luo’s wishes. President Qin, do you have any objections? ”
Qin Yiwan looked at her coldly. “Luo Yunye, if we revise this agreement, you’re the one who’ll lose out. Are you sure about this? Once this chance is gone, it won’t come back.”
Luo Yunye responded flatly, “I’m sure.”
Aside from the money, she didn’t want anything related to Qin Yiwan. She needed a clean break, a fresh start.
“Fine.”
Qin Yiwan figured it was just youthful pride—Luo Yunye trying to prove she hadn’t married for money.
Whatever. If she doesn’t want it, that just saves me the trouble.
After leaving the Civil Affairs Bureau, Qin Yiwan tucked the divorce certificate into her bag, feeling light and relaxed. A faint smile played at her lips.
Before getting into the car, she turned and asked, “Do you want your things packed and sent to wherever you’re staying, or do you want to come get them yourself?”
“Just throw them away.”
Luo Yunye clutched the divorce certificate and turned to leave.
Qin Yiwan stared at her dazed, broken figure, wanting to say something, but in the end, chose silence. At this moment, any concern would just be salt in the wound. It’s best to leave her alone.
Inside the car, the driver, Butler Lin, didn’t start the engine. He kept glancing at Qin Yiwan through the rearview mirror, his voice cautious: “Miss, should we… should we give Miss Luo a ride? She looks… really heartbroken.”
Seeing how devastated she looked made even Butler Lin’s eyes sting with tears. His heart ached for Luo Yunye.
She was such a good wife—why did Miss insist on this divorce?
“Don’t bother with her.” Qin Yiwan turned to look out the opposite window. “Let’s go. She’s not part of this family anymore.”
So coldhearted. Butler Lin started the car with a gloomy expression. He couldn’t help but glance at Luo Yunye, walking alone like a lost soul. She looked like a ghost wandering without a home. So pitiful.
Sorry, Young Madam. I’m sorry I can’t stay by your side.
Luo Yunye watched Qin Yiwan’s luxury car drive away without so much as a pause. She knew she should feel sad—yet she didn’t even have the strength for that. She just wanted to lie down right here and sleep for a long, long time. She was so, so tired.
It was early winter. Though it was only noon, the sky hung low and gray, as if night were about to fall. It matched her mood perfectly—dim, heavy, hopeless.
She wandered aimlessly, dazed. At some point, it began to rain, the fine droplets landing cold against her skin.
The people around her quickened their steps. Some opened umbrellas. Only she walked alone in the freezing rain, letting it punish her. The chill slowly seeped into her bones.
She knew no one would care if she caught a cold. She knew she was the only one who would suffer for this. But still, she didn’t want to avoid it.
From today on, nothing will ever hurt more than this. Not ever again.
Her clothes were soaked. Rain dripped from her hair and slipped down the back of her neck, cold as ice. She trembled uncontrollably, her lips pale as paper.
Just as she was about to collapse, she saw Qin Yiwan’s car circle back.
Tears welled in her eyes as she stood frozen in place. She wished—desperately—that this was just a bad dream. If only she could wake up.
Butler Lin rushed out with an umbrella and a dry towel, running toward her in a panic.
“Young Madam, how did you end up like this?”
After dropping Qin Yiwan off, she’d immediately come back to look for Luo Yunye but hadn’t seen her anywhere. Her calls had gone unanswered too. She was terrified something had happened and had driven around searching.
She never expected she’d actually find her.
As she wiped the rain from her face, she said anxiously, “Don’t do this to yourself. Miss won’t feel sorry for you—it’s not worth it, Young Madam.”
Her eyes were red. Her voice choked with emotion.
“No. She won’t.”
Luo Yunye took the towel and forced a faint, bitter smile. “Thank you, Butler Lin. Don’t worry, I’ll be okay.”
But just a few steps later, her vision went black—and she collapsed.
******
She woke up in a hospital room. It was quiet. Hearing Lin’s voice, she turned her head toward the door.
“Alright, Miss. I’ll head back now.”
Lin hung up the phone, walked over, and set a document on the bedside table. She gently helped Luo Yunye sit up.
“Young Madam, how are you feeling?”
Luo Yunye looked pale and weak, but she smiled faintly. “Dizzy. Sorry to trouble you. If you’re busy, don’t worry about me.”
“There’s something I need to take care of, actually. Will you be alright on your own? Want me to call a friend for you?”
Luo Yunye shook her head. “No need. I’ll call Yujia later. Don’t worry, and thank you. I’ll pay you back for the hospital bills.”
“Young Madam, it’s really not necessary. But rest well, okay? I’ll visit when I’m free.”
“Butler Lin… Lin Lin,” she corrected herself gently. “Yiwan and I are divorced now. I’m no longer the Qin family’s Young Madam. From now on, just call me by my name.”
“…Alright then. Can I call you Yunye?”
A smile returned to Luo Yunye’s face. She nodded. “Of course.”
After Butler Lin left, Luo Yunye didn’t call Lin Yujia. She was too embarrassed to let anyone see her like this.
She spent one night in the hospital. Once her fever broke after the IV drip, she discharged herself and went home.
She had planned to pack up and move out, but in her current state, she didn’t have the strength.
Fine. I’ll wait until I get to the bottom of the car accident. And while I’m at it, I’ll look for a new place.
The day before the new product launch, still sick, Luo Yunye was summoned by Du Wendy for final testing.
She’d probably heard from Du Weimin about the divorce and now oddly felt like they were comrades-in-arms.
“She dumped you? Who cares? Just stick with me and work hard. When I get access to some quality omega resources, you’ll be the first I introduce. Qin Yiwan? She’s nothing but a pitiful woman no one loves.”
“Thanks, I guess.”
Luo Yunye gave a hollow, forced smile.
“I’ve got plans tonight, so I’ll leave you to the testing. Do your best!”
“Don’t worry. I’ve got it covered.”
At the product launch the next day, both Qin Rushuang and Qin Yiwan showed up to support Du Weimin. They sat in the front row. With the two Qin executives present, the venue was packed—over a hundred attendees. The media frantically snapped photos, eager to capture even a hint of their beauty for online clout.
Luo Yunye, still recovering, wore a mask and sat in the employee section—miles away from Qin Yiwan, only able to glimpse her slender back.
Once the event officially began, the host invited the product lead on stage to introduce the new release. A woman unfamiliar to Qin Yiwan walked up. Her brows furrowed slightly. Wasn’t this Luo Yunye’s project?
Du Weimin’s eye twitched the moment she saw Du Wendy take the stage. She bit down hard, cursing internally. Has she lost her mind?
Not only did she show up at such a high-stakes event with both Qin executives present—she even dared to claim she was the lead developer of Luo Yunye’s project?
Du Weimin’s fury surged. She wanted nothing more than to drag her offstage on the spot.
“Why does that product look exactly like the robotic puppy Yunye gave Yiwan?” Qin Rushuang turned to ask Du Weimin. “Did she develop it?”
Du Weimin’s expression turned nasty, but Du Wendy remained oblivious on stage, enthusiastically demonstrating the puppy’s features.
“I’m not sure—I’ll ask the R&D director now.”
Just as she turned to locate the R&D head, a collective gasp rippled through the crowd. The room exploded into commotion, and camera flashes went wild.
Confused, Du Weimin looked up—only to see a massive screen showing her and her lover kissing in a villa living room. Moments later, the footage showed her lifting her lover and carrying them into the bedroom.
The footage was clearly shot from a distance—blurry when enlarged, but unmistakably her.
Du Wendy stood frozen on stage, her legs buckling beneath her. Pale-faced, she stared at Du Weimin in the audience, shaking her head in panic.
“It wasn’t me! It wasn’t me! It was Luo Yunye—she set me up!”
She stumbled off the stage and rushed to Luo Yunye, yanking her up from her seat.
“Why would you do this to me? Why?!”
Luo Yunye gently removed her hand, patted her own arm, then handed her a document.
“Take a look.”
Wendy was shaking with rage as she snatched the document and opened it smugly—only to freeze when her eyes landed on the contents: a paternity test identifying her and Du Weimin as mother and daughter.
Her strength drained from her body, and she collapsed to the floor.
Zhang Tingting rushed forward to help her up, but Wendy crumpled the document into her arms, clutching it desperately and flailing.
“Don’t touch me! Stay away from me!”
Du Weimin face twisted with panic. She shouted to her people,
“What are you waiting for? Get them out of here!”
Security moved in to remove Luo Yunye, but Zhao Ke and Wei Shuang—who had arrived with Qin Yiwan—stepped forward to block their path, easily fending off the guards with a few swift moves.
Luo Yunye lifted the document and smiled.
“No need to rush, Director Du. I’ve got something here you might want to show President Qin as well.”
Du Weimin’s eyes blazed with hatred. If looks could kill, Luo Yunye would’ve been incinerated on the spot.
“Luo Yunye, this isn’t a place where you can throw your little tantrums. If you know what’s good for you, leave now. And Zhao Ke, Wei Shuang—maybe you two need to remember who your real boss is.”
Qin Yiwan, sitting in the front row, had been trying to stay out of it—but hearing Du Weimin bring up Zhao Ke and Wei Shuang, she turned to see them standing protectively in front of Luo Yunye. Her brows furrowed.
Despite her pale complexion, Luo Yunye was determined.
“Zhao Ke, bring her the document.”
“Wanwan,” Du Weimin leaned in to whisper urgently, “She’s just doing this to get back at you—to make a scene and humiliate the Qin family in front of all the media. Don’t fall for it.”
Qin Yiwan remained calm, silently taking the document from Zhao Ke. She opened it—and paused. It was a paternity test result. After a beat, she handed it to Qin Rushuang.
Just moments ago, Qin Rushuang had still been convincing herself that the video could be explained—that Du Weimin had just been seeking thrills after being neglected.
But now? Now she saw that Du Weimin had a 21-year-old daughter—just one year younger than Yiwan. The truth hit like a punch to the gut. With her whole body trembling, she rose to her feet and slapped Du Weimin across the face.
“How dare you, Du Weimin!”
How dare she cheat with another woman when Rushuang was at her lowest and most heartbroken? How dare she hide that woman under her nose all these years? How dare she make a public spectacle of her like this?
The product launch event ended in total chaos, overshadowed by the revelation of Du Weimin’s affair. No matter how rich or powerful the Qin family was, they couldn’t keep the gossip from spreading. The news went everywhere.
When Qin Yiwan exited, reporters swarmed her, asking whether she’d known about the affair, how it might impact the company’s stock price, and whether Qin Rushuang would divorce Du Weimin.
Zhao Ke and Wei Shuang flanked her, blocking the press. Yiwan didn’t answer a single question. With poise and quiet composure, she walked away.
Zhao Ke drove, Wei Shuang sat in the front passenger seat, and Yiwan leaned back in silence with her eyes closed. Then Wei Shuang spoke up.
“Miss Qin, Miss Luo says she needs to speak with you. She’s waiting at Yunding Villa. Should we go now?”
Yiwan opened her eyes, a cold sharpness flashing through them. Her voice was icy.
“Whose bodyguards are you, exactly? If you’re done with your jobs, go collect your final paycheck from Manager Lin.”
Wei Shuang sighed but stayed respectful.
“Miss, it’s about your car accident. Miss Luo said once this is done, she’ll never disturb your life again.”
Qin Yiwan rubbed her temples, annoyed.
“Call her.”
Wei Shuang dialed Luo Yunye. It only rang once before the call connected.
“Hello? Wei Shuang?”
“Luo Yunye, not everyone has time to drive an hour and a half just to soak in a hot spring. If you want to talk, come to my house. I’ll wait.”
“Miss Qin, there are things in life that are worth spending time on—and the truth about your accident is one of them.
Besides, you owe me this.
Come, and we’ll be even.”
“You’d better keep your word.”
Qin Yiwan had a good relationship with Gu Qianyu and often accepted her invitations. It was Gu Qianyu who had introduced her to Yunding Villa. What puzzled her was how Luo Yunye knew about such a remote place.
Just the winding mountain roads made her dizzy and nauseous. Zhao Ke drove carefully, and it still took over two hours to reach the villa.
The moment the car stopped, Yiwan opened the door and rushed to a trash can to vomit. Wei Shuang handed her a bottle of water. After rinsing her mouth, she told Wei Shuang to call Luo Yunye.
“I’m here. Where are you?”
“Just give the front desk my name. They’ll hand you the room key.”
Yiwan followed the instructions, got the keycard, and entered the room—only to find Luo Yunye already soaking in the hot spring. Zhao Ke and Wei Shuang politely excused themselves. Yiwan turned around.
“Get dressed first. Then we’ll talk.”
Luo Yunye walked over and, catching Yiwan off guard, pulled her straight into the hot spring.
“Luo Yunye!”
Yiwan wiped the water from her face, glaring at her.
“You’re going too far!”
Luo Yunye blinked innocently.
“I just wanted a proper soak. With you beside me, I feel at ease. Don’t worry—I won’t do anything inappropriate.”
She drifted to the far end of the pool, closed her eyes, and relaxed.
Yiwan was overdressed for a hot spring, making her extremely uncomfortable. But she refused to undress in front of Luo Yunye, so she endured it in silence for half an hour.
When Luo Yunye finally got out, Yiwan followed. Zhao Ke and Wei Shuang had already prepared their clothes and left them on the bed.
Luo Yunye dropped her bathrobe without a second thought, her toned body on full display. Yiwan immediately turned away.
Luo Yunye chuckled.
“Come on, it’s nothing you haven’t seen—or touched.”
“That wasn’t me. Try that again, and I’ll report you for sexual harassment.”
“Then go ahead.” Luo Yunye flipped her wet hair back, toweling off. “Tell them I kissed you, touched you, and even harassed you with my words.”
She laughed shamelessly.
Yiwan was fuming. Knowing it was pointless to argue, she bit her tongue.
“Get dressed. I’ll be in the restaurant waiting,” Luo Yunye said before walking out.
Yiwan finally breathed easier. She looked through the clothes—they were all new, tags still attached. She didn’t bother cutting them off and just put them on.
Zhao Ke was waiting outside and escorted her to the restaurant.
Dinner was eaten in near silence. Luo Yunye said nothing, and so did Yiwan. Once they were done, Luo Yunye took out a recording device. Zhao Ke and Wei Shuang silently exited.
Only the two of them remained.
“Lin Hui, if you’re hearing this, then I’m already gone.
I’m sorry. I’m a sinner. I needed money for Yueyue’s treatment, so I agreed to kill someone. They offered five million yuan.
That kind of money is something we could never earn in a lifetime. It would save Yueyue—and help us survive this nightmare.
The plan was to hit her with a car. But the employer said to keep things clean, I had to die too.
If you’re hearing this, it means I didn’t make it. I’m sorry for dragging you and Yueyue into this shame. I love you both.”
Yiwan’s expression didn’t change after the recording finished.
“So what, you’re telling me someone paid to have me killed?”
Luo Yunye nodded and showed her video footage from a park—recordings she’d found based on Lin Hui’s memories. In the footage, the truck driver was seen talking to someone. They sat far apart, but their posture and head movements clearly indicated a conversation.
Following the mystery person’s trail, Luo Yunye had managed to find a still image where the woman’s face was partially visible. She handed the photo to Yiwan.
“Who does she look like to you?”
Despite the disguise, Yiwan recognized her instantly—from the angle and the expression in her eyes.
“No… that’s not possible. She’s my mother. Why would she…”
“If you don’t believe me, ask her yourself.”
Luo Yunye handed over all the evidence.
“Du Weimin managed to hide a lover and a daughter from your mom for over twenty years. She’s a master manipulator. You think she’d never try to kill her own daughter?
But you’re not her only daughter.
If you died and Qin Rushuang broke down, she’d have the perfect chance to take over the Qin family.”
Yiwan couldn’t accept it.
All her life, Qin Rushuang had been cold, even cruel—but Du Weimin had always been the one to secretly comfort and encourage her.
If she’d ever imagined a mother wanting her dead, her first thought would’ve been Rushuang.
And now Luo Yunye was telling her that the only person who had ever shown her warmth was the one who wanted her gone?
Her world, already broken, now lay in ruins—there was nothing left to trust.
“So this was your goal in bringing me here?”
Yiwan’s eyes were red as she looked at Luo Yunye.
“You wanted to see me in pain, to watch me lose everything, just so I’d know how it felt when you lost A’wan. Is that it?”
“You’re wrong.”
Luo Yunye’s voice was steady.
“This is my goodbye.”
She stood.
“I said it before—after today, I won’t bother you again. What you choose to do with Du Weimin is up to you.
Goodbye, Qin Yiwan.”
Luo Yunye turned and walked away; her figure was composed and free.
Yiwan stood there, eyes brimming with tears, hands clutching her head in anguish.
