After exposing Du Weimin’s affair at the new product launch, Luo Yunye turned around and handed in her resignation. The head of the R&D department, face dark with anger, approved it on the spot and told her to leave immediately.
When Luo Yunye packed up her things, she only took her bag and left all her office supplies to Zhang Tingting.
Zhang Tingting wanted to say goodbye, but Luo Yunye had stirred up such a storm that the entire company was buzzing about it. No one wanted to be associated with her now.
While she hesitated, Luo Yunye had already walked out the front door. Zhang Tingting couldn’t help but run after her, managing to stop the elevator just before the doors closed.
“You’re my idol. You’re incredible—and brave. I hope everything goes well for you. Let’s grab a meal together sometime.”
“Sure. Take care, Tingting-jie.”
As the elevator doors closed, Luo Yunye descended with a smile on her face.
Lin Yujia was waiting in her car at the company entrance. When Luo Yunye got in, she teased her with a grin, “How did a little intern manage to blow up something this huge? Seriously, you managed to take down the company’s chairman.”
“Sigh.” Luo Yunye buckled her seatbelt, looking troubled. “Do you think this whole thing will make me notorious in the industry? What if no one dares to hire me after this?”
Lin Yujia pulled the car out onto the road, glanced at her, and said seriously, “Pissing off your chairman might not matter much—but offending the Qin family? If President Qin really wants to blacklist you, no company would dare take you on. You’re just an intern—why’d you stick your nose into someone else’s scandal? Eating popcorn is one thing, but you practically jumped into the fire.”
Luo Yunye looked out the window and replied airily, shifting the blame, “It’s all that illegitimate daughter’s fault. If she hadn’t kept tripping me up at work, I wouldn’t have gotten so mad and pulled such a stunt. Honestly, it wasn’t worth it.”
“Forget it,” Lin Yujia consoled her. “Let’s eat first. Worry about the rest later.”
“By the way, the semester’s halfway through. Since you’re not interning anymore, are you going back to school?”
Luo Yunye had completely forgotten she was still a senior in college. With free time now, going back to class seemed like the right move.
“Yeah. I’ll go back tomorrow.”
On her first day back, Luo Yunye immediately became the center of attention—from every direction. Most of the stares came from enamored omegas, with a few jealous alphas mixed in.
She was already beautiful, and today she wore a classic camel cashmere coat perfect for fall and winter. Underneath was a black turtleneck thermal top paired with straight-leg black jeans that made her legs look even longer.
She wore black heels that were mostly hidden beneath the hem of her pants, giving her an elegant, high-end aura. She even had on a pair of decorative glasses, which gave her a touch of aloof sophistication that had the omegas quietly squealing.
Despite appearances, Luo Yunye wasn’t cold or unapproachable. When someone smiled at her, she would return a polite nod. Her warmth and gentleness made hearts flutter.
She walked into the classroom and sat down. The professor was already lecturing, and the seats in the back were filled with students who weren’t even in this class—they were just here to see her.
She sat listening as if nothing were out of the ordinary, answering questions smoothly when called upon.
Since she wasn’t disrupting class, the professor let it slide.
By the end of the day, photos and videos of her were all over the internet. She had quickly become everyone’s “internet wife.”

That evening, Qin Yiwan finished a long day at work. As she stood up and rubbed her shoulders, her phone buzzed—it was a message from Gu Qianyue.
“Wanwan, you’ve been working all day. Come out and relax!”
Then came a photo: dim lights in a bar, clinking glasses. And one of the hands in the photo… might belong to Luo Yunye?
The focus was on the glasses; the people behind them were blurry and unclear.
Qin Yiwan wondered if she was seeing things. How would Gu Qianyue even know Luo Yunye?
“Who are you with?” she asked.
“Two gorgeous underclassmen. Coming?”
“No thanks. You all have fun. Stay safe and don’t stay out too late.”
“You’re no fun.”
Then came another photo—this time of Luo Yunye sitting on the couch, raising a glass toward the stage. The warm lighting behind her softened her silhouette; from the side, she looked stunning.
“Even a beauty like this doesn’t tempt you? Workaholic.”
Qin Yiwan hadn’t expected it to actually be Luo Yunye. When did the two of them meet? Was it because of her?
She hadn’t planned on going, but the thought of Luo Yunye possibly making moves on Gu Qianyue made her uneasy. She ended up driving over.
By then, Luo Yunye had had a few drinks and was dancing casually with Lin Yujia on the dance floor. After dancing their fill, the two laughed their way back to the booth—only to find someone unexpected sitting there.
Someone she really didn’t want to see.
The smile on Luo Yunye’s face froze. But the next moment, she acted like she hadn’t seen Qin Yiwan at all and followed Lin Yujia back to the table. She picked up a glass and downed it in one go.
Gu Qianyue stood up and said, “Let me introduce you—this is my good friend, Qin Yiwan, CEO of Yuding Tower. I’m sure you’ve all heard of her.”
“Hello, Miss Qin,” Lin Yujia greeted politely, extending a hand.
Qin Yiwan smiled and shook it gently.
Luo Yunye, on the other hand, didn’t greet her. She just sat there with a faint smile, poured herself another drink, and stayed silent.
Gu Qianyue tried to bridge the gap and introduced them both again, but Luo Yunye still didn’t make an effort. It was clear she had no interest in knowing Qin Yiwan.
The atmosphere turned awkward.
Gu Qianyue had originally hoped to introduce the two, maybe even hang out as a group more in the future—and perhaps Qin Yiwan could help bring them together. But clearly, that wasn’t going to happen. She quickly shifted gears and suggested a drinking game.
They played “Truth or Dare.” Whoever the bottle pointed to had to answer a question.
Qin Yiwan was the first to be chosen. Gu Qianyue gave the opportunity to ask a question to the two underclassmen.
“You girls can ask her anything,” she encouraged. “Your senior is super impressive at work!”
Lin Yujia didn’t know her well and had nothing to ask, so their eyes turned to Luo Yunye.
She smiled lightly. “Then I’ll ask. I kind of stirred things up at your product launch… does Miss Qin still hold it against me?”
Gu Qianyue slapped her forehead. “Ah, no wonder you two seemed off. I totally forgot about that incident!”
She grabbed one of Qin Yiwan’s arms and one of Luo Yunye’s, trying to smooth things over. “Wanwan, please don’t hold it against Yunye. For my sake?”
“If Qianyue says so… let bygones be bygones.”
The game went on. After a few rounds, it was Luo Yunye’s turn. Gu Qianyue quickly claimed the right to ask.
“Do you have a crush on anyone right now?”
Luo Yunye looked up and met Qin Yiwan’s gaze. The latter suddenly felt flustered and took a sip of her drink. Luo Yunye’s lips curved into a faint smile.
“Not at the moment.”
By the time they finished drinking, it was late. Qin Yiwan asked her driver, Butler Lin, to come pick them up and drop everyone off.
First they dropped off Gu Qianyue, then Lin Yujia. Luo Yunye was the last.
She didn’t need to give her address—Butler Lin already knew where to go.
The two sat in the back with an empty seat between them, each staring out their own window in silence.
Watching them in the rearview mirror, Butler Lin cleared his throat. “Miss Luo… I put your things in the trunk. Do you want to take them with you?”
“No need,” Luo Yunye replied. “Just toss them.”
When they arrived at the gate of the complex, Luo Yunye reached for the door, but Butler Lin suddenly said he needed to use the restroom and bolted—leaving them alone in the car.
Luo Yunye paused. Then she looked straight ahead.
“I’ll move out as soon as I can. I’ll have Butler Lin return the key to you.”
“Do what you want.” Qin Yiwan turned to look at her profile reflected in the window, then looked away. “How did you meet Qianyue?”
“That’s my personal business. I’d rather not say.”
“She seems to like you,” Qin Yiwan said at last, her brow furrowed as she turned to face her. “If she ever finds out what happened between us, it’ll hurt her. She’s my best friend. I don’t want her to get hurt.”
Luo Yunye looked at her calmly, voice emotionless. “So, what are you saying? That I should stay away from you and everyone around you?”
“Yes. It’s best if we don’t cross paths at all.”
Luo Yunye let out a short laugh, then opened the door. Before she stepped out, she returned the words Qin Yiwan had once said to her.
“But my life… isn’t yours to decide.”
