After the Divorce, the Heiress Omega Regretted It - Chapter 47
When Qin Yiwan came out of the restroom, she didn’t know what the others had been talking about, but from a distance, she saw Luo Yunye’s radiant smile. Her eyes curved in delight, and her entire being seemed to glow with warmth.
Luo Yunye was different around her friends than she was around Qin Yiwan—more at ease, more cheerful, like a beam of sunlight.
She had once acted boldly in front of Qin Yiwan, only to be met with a slap in the face. After that, she became much more cautious—almost humble, even.
Luo Yunye casually brushed her long hair back from her neck and glanced up, catching sight of Qin Yiwan walking toward them.
For convenience while skiing, Qin Yiwan had chosen a fitted black down sports jacket, paired with fleece-lined leggings.
She was tall and slender. The eye was naturally drawn to her long, toned legs—graceful and shapely.
Luo Yunye quickly looked away, her thoughts drifting involuntarily to the times they’d been physically close—how her hands had lingered on those very legs. The memory startled her, and she didn’t dare look again.
But that wasn’t her—the one she’d been with wasn’t this Qin Yiwan.
Qin Yiwan could feel Luo Yunye’s gaze, which made her uncomfortable. She kept her expression calm and casually sat down without saying anything. She didn’t need to ask—Gu Qianyue was already eager to share the topic they’d just been laughing about.
“Wanwan, did you know? Yunye said when she was little, she didn’t realize she was allergic to mushrooms. She ate a ton once and ended up with a face so swollen she looked like a pig!”
Gu Qianyue held out her hands, indicating a massive puffed-up face. “This big!”
Everyone laughed again. Qin Yiwan didn’t quite get what was so funny, but she forced a smile anyway.
Just then, the waiter arrived with hot drinks—one cup for each of them. Gu Qianyue, who was sitting on the outer edge, grabbed one and passed it to Qin Yiwan. But Luo Yunye suddenly spoke up.
“Senior, I’d like the one with mango—could we switch?”
“Wanwan, is it okay if I give you the lemon one instead?” Gu Qianyue asked, holding out the other drink.
Qin Yiwan nodded. “Sure.” But her eyes flicked toward Luo Yunye.
She knows I’m allergic to mango?
Qin Yiwan thought for a moment but quickly dismissed the idea. Even Gu Qianyue didn’t know about her mango allergy—how could Luo Yunye possibly know?
Qin Yiwan realized that whenever she was in the same space as Luo Yunye, her emotions would get stirred up. She instinctively blamed it on a conditioned reflex left behind by “A’Wan” inside her. The only way to avoid Luo Yunye’s influence, she figured, was to not see her at all.
So whenever Gu Qianyue invited her out afterward, Qin Yiwan would politely decline, citing work. Still, during her downtime, she’d scroll through Gu Qianyue’s WeChat Moments and, upon spotting Luo Yunye in the photos, find her eyes lingering.
Worse still, she started dreaming about Luo Yunye—again and again.
In one dream, she was trapped in a pitch-black room, and it was Luo Yunye who opened the door, bathed in light, coming to save her.
In another, she was drowning, sinking into the dark, cold water. Just as she was about to lose consciousness, Luo Yunye grasped her hand and pulled her up.
These dreams were like psychological imprints, making her pay even more attention to Luo Yunye. Qin Yiwan didn’t like this feeling. It unsettled her. She couldn’t help but seek out Lin Wu to talk about it.
After hearing her out, Lin Wu gave her analysis:
“Maybe it’s your subconscious wanting her to rescue you. So when you’re in danger—even in a dream—your mind turns to her. Of course, we also can’t rule out the possibility that this is a lingering impression from your alter ego.”
“Is there any way to make the dreams stop? Or something I can take so I just fall asleep without dreaming?”
“There are medications for that, but they’re intended for people with sleep disorders. President Qin, your health is currently fine. I don’t recommend taking anything—it could do more harm than good.”
Walking out of Lin Wu’s office, Qin Yiwan felt a rare and unfamiliar sense of helplessness. She’d never experienced this kind of uncertainty before. In her mind, there was no such thing as a deal that couldn’t be closed.
Even her divorce had been a transaction. One she completed—but instead of gaining clarity, she’d landed herself in confusion.
If Luo Yunye ever found out she was still dreaming about her, she’d probably laugh her head off.
Qin Yiwan felt ridiculous herself. These dreams were too absurd.
******
As the Spring Festival approached, the hotel business got increasingly busy. With that came more daily problems, and time flew by. Qin Yiwan spent her days in meetings, listening to departmental reports and giving instructions.
One day, Gu Qianyue called and asked if there was a small private room available at the Yunding Restaurant for a birthday dinner.
Only then did Qin Yiwan remember—Gu Qianyue’s birthday was coming up.
“Of course there’s a room for you. I’ll take care of everything—it’s my birthday gift to you.”
“Then make it really pretty, okay? I want to do something big that day.”
“What big thing?”
Gu Qianyue’s voice was tinged with laughter and shy excitement. “I’ll tell you a secret—I’m planning to confess to Yunye.”
Qin Yiwan froze, her long lashes fluttering before she hesitantly asked, “You… like her that much?”
“Mm-hmm! ” Gu Qianyue’s voice sparkled with sweetness as she gushed about Luo Yunye. “She’s beautiful, kind, and super knowledgeable. She’s got so many skills, and whenever we go out together, it’s like there’s nothing she can’t do.
She’s thoughtful, knows how to keep boundaries, and makes everyone feel safe. With her around, you don’t have to worry—she’s just that reliable.
I’m really sure about my feelings for her. That’s why I want to take this chance to confess.”
Everything Gu Qianyue said, Qin Yiwan could agree with. Luo Yunye really was that good. Someone you could fall for.
“But… do you think she likes you back?”
“She definitely doesn’t dislike me. As for liking me… maybe not quite yet.”
“And you’re still going to confess? What if she turns you down in front of everyone?”
Just the thought of that awkward scene made Qin Yiwan squirm. She couldn’t imagine where Gu Qianyue found the courage to do something so uncertain.
“She won’t,” Gu Qianyue said confidently. “Yunye is too considerate to embarrass me like that—especially on my birthday. That’s my little trick, actually.”
Qin Yiwan reserved a beautiful private room with a great view of the night skyline through floor-to-ceiling windows. She had the space decorated with elegant warmth. When Gu Qianyue came to check it out, her eyes sparkled with delight. She grabbed Qin Yiwan’s hand and squealed.
“Wanwan, this is perfect! You’re amazing. I love it—I love you!”
She even pretended to kiss Qin Yiwan’s cheek but was gently blocked. “Hey, people are watching—keep it classy.”
But Gu Qianyue didn’t care. She quickly pecked her cheek anyway, then dashed inside to snap some photos and sent them to their little three-person group chat.
“Look at the party room Wanwan set up for me. Isn’t it gorgeous?”
Lin Yujia replied:
“Beautiful.”
“Come early tomorrow!”
Lin Yujia:
“Will do.”
*****
That evening, Lin Yujia went over to Luo Yunye’s place so they could head to the party together the next day. Watching Luo Yunye bustling around the kitchen, she thought about Gu Qianyue’s upcoming confession and cautiously asked, “What do you think of Senior Gu?”
“She’s great—cheerful, outgoing, and easy to get along with. She makes a wonderful friend,” Luo Yunye replied while preparing golden soup fish slices. Once the water boiled, she gently slid the fish in and started chopping green onions while she waited.
“What about as a girlfriend?”
Luo Yunye looked back at Lin Yujia with a smile. “Do you like her?”
“No,” Lin Yujia laughed awkwardly. “Why are you flipping it on me? I meant, what do you think of her as your girlfriend?”
“She’s doing just fine being herself—why would she want to be my girlfriend?” Luo Yunye chuckled.
When the soup started bubbling, she poured it into a bowl, added peppercorns and chilies, and then poured hot oil over the top. The aroma exploded in the air—spicy, rich, and mouthwatering.
“You’ve never thought maybe… she likes you?” Lin Yujia pressed, setting out bowls and chopsticks as she followed her to the table.
“That’s exactly why I keep a polite distance,” Luo Yunye replied. “And I think she gets it too. Isn’t being friends just fine?”
“Falling for someone isn’t something you can control,” Lin Yujia sighed unconsciously, her brows furrowing. “What if she insists on liking you and refuses to back down—what will you do then?”
“What else can I do?” Luo Yunye replied calmly. “I’ll be honest with her. If she’s okay with being friends, then great. If not… then that’s just how it is.
But even if she and I can’t stay friends, you still can. As long as she has you by her side, it won’t hurt as much.”
The more Lin Yujia listened, the more worried she became for Gu Qianyue. If she confessed tomorrow in front of everyone and got rejected, wouldn’t that ruin her whole birthday?
She felt even more anxious than if she were the one getting rejected. She wanted to subtly suggest that maybe Gu Qianyue should skip the whole confession thing—but Gu Qianyue was still floating in the excitement of her big birthday confession, completely oblivious to any hidden messages.
Just imagining the awkwardness of the scene made Lin Yujia cringe. She had secondhand embarrassment so bad she barely slept that night. By morning, she was up early with dark circles under her eyes, dragging herself to the mirror to put on makeup.
******
Luo Yunye, on the other hand, had slept like a baby. She woke up feeling refreshed, even humming to herself as she got dressed and did her makeup—clearly in a great mood.
When she saw Lin Yujia’s gloomy face and panda eyes, she jumped. Reaching out to touch her forehead, she asked, “Yujia, are you sick? You look awful.”
“There’s something I’ve been holding in all night—I have to tell you.”
Luo Yunye’s heart skipped a beat. She grabbed Yujia’s hands, her expression tense. “Yujia, is your condition… serious?”
“Oh, stop,” Lin Yujia lightly pushed her and took a deep breath. “Qianyue plans to confess to you today. Good luck with that.”
“What?!” The sky fell.
Luo Yunye’s mood took a nosedive.
She was completely baffled. She’d kept a respectful distance from Gu Qianyue and hadn’t led her on in any way—so how did things end up like this?
Watching her mope all the way to the party, Lin Yujia couldn’t help but grin. Finally, someone else was sharing her stress.
“So, figured out what to do yet?”
“I’m thinking maybe I should just talk to her,” Luo Yunye said, still looking troubled. “Ask her not to confess.”
“If you do that, she’ll know I told you.”
“So you want me to just stand there and watch her confess to me while I flounder like an idiot?”
Lin Yujia offered a suggestion. “There’s one way—you could say yes for now, then explain everything later. It’s her birthday, right? Just treat it like granting her one wish.”
“That sounds kind of cruel… what if she takes it seriously? Wouldn’t that make things worse?”
Lin Yujia rolled her eyes. “And rejecting her today won’t hurt her either?”
Okay, yes, it made sense… but also, no, it didn’t feel right.
Luo Yunye showed up to the birthday party with a heart full of dread. Gu Qianyue, who had no idea she already knew, beamed brightly when she saw them arrive. She waved enthusiastically and walked over, lifting the hem of her dress as she spun in front of them. “Do I look good?”
Today, Gu Qianyue looked like a real-life princess. Luo Yunye and Lin Yujia exchanged glances before chiming in at the same time: “You look gorgeous.”
“Come on, let’s sit over there.”
She led them to their seats. “Help yourselves to some snacks—I’m going to greet the rest of the guests.”
“Sure, go ahead.”
Gu Qianyue had a ton of friends. Her college classmates hugged her warmly and posed for pictures together with exaggerated poses.
Once everyone arrived, she called them all up to the stage for a group photo. Qin Yiwan, who had arrived late, quietly slipped in and stood beside Luo Yunye.
Click. The moment was frozen in a snapshot.
After lunch, Gu Qianyue led her friends to explore the entertainment inside the Jade Summit Bell Tower. There were plenty of activities, and since it was all billed to Qin Yiwan, no one held back from having a great time.
She then asked Luo Yunye and the others if they wanted to go sing.
“Sure!”
Gu Qianyue brought them and a few other friends to a large private KTV room, where they all joined in singing her “Happy Birthday.”
Qin Yiwan had the cake brought in—she herself was busy with work and didn’t stay to sing, but her mind kept circling back to Gu Qianyue’s planned confession.
According to the plan, the confession would happen during KTV. Fewer people, better vibes.
But the more she thought about it, the more worried she became. What if Luo Yunye rejected her? What if Gu Qianyue got hurt? With her heart full of unease, Qin Yiwan couldn’t focus on work anymore. She got up and made her way toward the private room.
Just as she opened the door, she saw it.
Luo Yunye and Gu Qianyue—holding hands.
Everyone around them was cheering, “Wooo! Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!”
Gu Qianyue blushed and stole a glance at Luo Yunye. The two of them smiled at each other.
She… said yes?
Qin Yiwan’s heart skipped a beat. Something sharp and painful twisted in her chest. Suddenly, she felt like she didn’t belong there at all.
She turned quickly to leave, accidentally bumping into a waiter. The tray of drinks went crashing to the floor. She called the manager to come deal with it.
By the time Luo Yunye stepped out, all she saw was Qin Yiwan’s retreating figure.
She closed the door behind her and turned to the room, still smiling. “Just a spilled drink—it’s being handled. Let’s keep going.”
Back in her office, Qin Yiwan’s mind was a chaotic mess. She tried to work, tried to read—nothing sank in. Even when her assistant came in to report, she couldn’t focus.
She didn’t know what was wrong with her. She just knew she had to find some way—any way—to quiet her thoughts. Desperate for calm, she drove toward Lin Wu’s therapy studio, hoping to enter a dream and escape this gnawing unrest.
Halfway there, another car suddenly cut into her lane. She swerved, and a car from the other side slammed into hers. The impact sent the car jolting sideways—her head smacked hard against the backseat.
In that dizzying moment, memories of her previous crash came flooding back. She’d been like this then too—unable to move, bl00d dripping down her face, her whole body aching—until she blacked out.
In the KTV room, Luo Yunye’s phone rang. It was Butler Lin. Qin Yiwan had been in an accident and was at the hospital. Though she wasn’t in critical condition, she hadn’t regained consciousness.
Would she come see her?
Luo Yunye’s grip on the phone tightened. Her heart clenched. She hesitated.
Gu Qianyue noticed her somber expression and walked over. “What’s wrong?”
“Miss Qin… was in a car accident.”
Gu Qianyue immediately offered to go with her. She and Lin Yujia rushed to the hospital.
Seeing Qin Yiwan lying unconscious on the hospital bed, she anxiously asked Butler Lin, “What did the doctor say?”
“They said her condition isn’t serious; she’s just in a deep sleep. She should wake up soon. No need to worry, Miss Gu.”
Though he spoke to Gu Qianyue, his eyes kept flicking toward Luo Yunye, whose gaze stayed fixed on Qin Yiwan, a storm brewing behind her calm expression.
Gu Qianyue had to return to host the evening dinner—she couldn’t stay in the hospital. Luo Yunye offered to stay and let her know if anything changed.
Gu Qianyue didn’t suspect a thing. With so many guests, she couldn’t afford to leave them unattended and had to rush back.
Luo Yunye asked Lin Yujia to go with her, just in case she needed help managing the party.
Now, the hospital room was quiet—just the two of them. Butler Lin quietly stepped out and shut the door behind him.
Luo Yunye walked to the bedside and sat down, looking at the sleeping face of Qin Yiwan.
It had been a while since they last saw each other. She’d thought she was fine with the distance.
But now, seeing her like this… her heart stirred.
She remembered the days she’d cared for her. The dreams they’d shared. The way she’d pulled her from that darkness.
She sat there quietly, watching her, until Qin Yiwan finally began to regain consciousness.
Just before she woke, the floodgates of memory opened. She was trapped in that dark room again—blinded, frozen, forgotten. No one saw her. No one stayed. Only shadows and loneliness remained, waiting to swallow her whole.
Then, the door opened.
But this time… she didn’t come closer. She didn’t reach out her hand.
She opened the door—and walked away.
Qin Yiwan reached out, chasing that familiar back. “No—don’t go. Don’t leave me!”
Her eyes flew open.
She saw Luo Yunye standing up and instinctively reached out, grabbing her hand. “Don’t go. Please don’t go!”
Luo Yunye froze. She hadn’t expected the touch.
After a beat, she turned to face her, gently pulling her hand away. “It’s good to see you awake, Miss Qin.”
“I remember now,” Qin Yiwan said, her eyes red. “I remember it was you who took care of me. You were the one in my dreams, pulling me out of the darkest place. I remember everything.
Yunye… I’m sorry, I—”
“I should go,” Luo Yunye interrupted, her voice quiet but steady. Her eyes burned, but she held it in.
“It’s my girlfriend’s birthday. I need to be with her.”
