After the Divorce, the Heiress Omega Regretted It - Chapter 48
As Luo Yunye walked away without so much as a backward glance, Qin Yiwan felt as though a blade had slashed through her heart. Just today, she’d accepted a confession from her best friend—and now this. Tears welled up in her eyes.
She curled back onto the bed, covering her face with her hands as waves of memories surged through her mind.
When everyone else had abandoned her, when she had hit rock bottom, it was Luo Yunye who had stayed. Unwavering, she had been there through it all—dragging her back from the darkest abyss, piece by piece, giving her a reason to keep living.
She had once gifted her a rose that shimmered with a gradient of dreamy colors, saying it symbolized love that would never die.
She had fed her a strawberry-flavored candy in the middle of a scary movie and held her hand tightly, whispering, “From now on, I’ll be here with you. There will never be days as dark as that again.”
She had taken her to do things she’d never dared try—singing love songs in a tiny karaoke room, chasing sunsets in golden light, and confessing to her at the mountain’s peak with the city skyline as their backdrop.
That was when Qin Yiwan had first felt the flutter of true affection. When she first realized she was in love. When, for the first time, she took the initiative to kiss someone—and gave her everything.
But then she had forgotten that she loved her.
Wrapped in suspicion, she had hurt her time and time again, pushing her further and further away.
She remembered slapping Luo Yunye and refusing to let her into the room, leaving her to sleep in the hallway. Yet even then, Luo Yunye had gotten up early to make porridge for her—only to have Qin Yiyi spill it on purpose. Luo Yunye hadn’t even blinked.
She had thrown away that rose—the one that symbolized undying love.
On her own birthday, she’d told Luo Yunye she wanted a divorce. Even their dates had become just another item to check off a list. She had said one cruel thing after another, cutting Luo Yunye open again and again until she broke.
She even gave away the birthday gift Luo Yunye had made for her.
And worst of all—just to force the divorce, she’d shot her in the chest in a dream.
She had killed her A’wan.
How… how could she have done all that to Luo Yunye?
She had loved her. Truly.
Now, every memory of how she had wronged her came back like a boomerang, stabbing into her own heart. The pain was suffocating. Her tears streamed uncontrollably.
After Luo Yunye left, she told Butler Lin that Qin Yiwan had woken up, then departed. When Butler Lin came into the room, he found Qin Yiwan lying in bed, her hands over her eyes, tears slipping through her fingers.
Before he could even say anything, he heard the sound of muffled sobbing. Qin Yiwan’s shoulders were trembling as she pulled the blanket over herself and broke down crying.
Butler Lin didn’t know what had happened, but seeing her like that, he didn’t dare interrupt. All he could do was send Luo Yunye a message.
Inside a cab, Luo Yunye sat in silence, her eyes red as she stared out the window.
She had once wished with all her heart that Qin Yiwan would remember—that if she did, maybe they wouldn’t have to divorce, that they could still be happy together.
She had fought for it. Even when Qin Yiwan was cold and cruel, she had tried to hold on.
But in the end, Qin Yiwan had forced her to let go.
Maybe they simply weren’t meant to be. Now that their marriage was over, now that she had already accepted someone else’s confession—only now did Qin Yiwan remember.
Luo Yunye wiped away her tears, steadying herself. On the day of their divorce, she had told herself: nothing would ever hurt more than that day.
What was lost would never return. She wouldn’t look back.
Her phone buzzed incessantly. She glanced at the screen—it was a message from Butler Lin:
“Yunye, Miss Qin has been crying nonstop. She’s really upset. Did something happen?”
“I’m worried about her, but I don’t dare ask. Do you think I should call a doctor?”
“Do you know what’s wrong with her?”
Luo Yunye replied calmly:
“She said she remembers.”
Butler Lin had just started to ask, “Remembers what?” before realization dawned—she must’ve remembered everything from after the accident, when she was in a coma and Luo Yunye had stayed by her side.
Recalling every way she had hurt Luo Yunye—no wonder she was crying like her heart had been torn apart.
Butler Lin sighed softly, unable to offer any comfort.
When Luo Yunye returned to the banquet hall, the guests were already enjoying dinner. Gu Qianyue spotted her and quickly came over, concerned.
“Yunye, is Wanwan awake?”
“She is,” Luo Yunye said vaguely. “The doctor said it’s nothing serious.”
“Thank goodness. I’ll go see her after things wrap up here. You haven’t eaten yet, have you? Come on, I saved you a seat.”
Gu Qianyue led her to the table, then went off to greet more guests.
Lin Yujia noticed Luo Yunye’s distracted look and leaned in to whisper, “Still thinking about the confession?”
Luo Yunye shook her head. She and Gu Qianyue had already come to an agreement.
Earlier, Gu Qianyue had used the excuse of a birthday song to call her over—and then suddenly confessed. Though Luo Yunye had known it was coming, she hadn’t figured out how to respond.
Seeing her hesitate in front of everyone, Gu Qianyue had leaned close and whispered, “Yunye, give me a chance. Let’s date for a month. If it doesn’t work, we can walk away—okay?”
With no better option in mind, Luo Yunye had taken her hand and agreed.
Now, thinking back, she realized Qin Yiwan must have seen them holding hands—and that’s why she left.
Trying to push away the thought, Luo Yunye shook her head and raised her glass toward Lin Yujia. “To celebrate—I have a girlfriend now.”
Lin Yujia could see she wasn’t truly happy but played along with a smile. “Alright—cheers to no longer being single.”
Soon, Gu Qianyue’s friends were making rounds, toasting each table. When they reached Luo Yunye, they surrounded her with questions: How long had she known Gu Qianyue? How far had their relationship gone? Any wedding plans?
Luo Yunye couldn’t keep up and ended up just drinking.
Seeing her overwhelmed, Gu Qianyue quickly stepped in, laughing as she shielded her. “Don’t push her too hard! If you make my girlfriend unhappy, I won’t let you off!”
“Oho, look at her being protective already!”
“My god, we came for drinks and got served a full course of PDA!”
“Qianyue, I can’t believe it’s your turn to be the one showing off—unreal!”
Their teasing brought laughter all around, and gradually, the heavy weight in Luo Yunye’s heart lifted a little.
After the guests left, Gu Qianyue was tipsy but still insisted on visiting the hospital. Luo Yunye sighed and called for a car to accompany her.
When they stepped out into the chilly night air, Gu Qianyue leaned into her. Luo Yunye hesitated, then pulled her into her arms protectively.
Since they agreed to try for a month… she would give it a try.
Gu Qianyue held Luo Yunye’s arm as they approached the hospital room.
Zhao Ke and Wei Shuang stood on either side of the door. When they saw Luo Yunye, they rolled their eyes behind their sunglasses and pretended not to recognize her, blocking the entrance.
Just then, Butler Lin opened the door. Upon seeing Luo Yunye, his face lit up with relief—but remembering their secret, she greeted Gu Qianyue instead.
“Miss Gu, good evening.”
“Is Wanwan resting?” Gu Qianyue asked.
“Not yet. Please, go in.”
Luo Yunye gently pulled her hand away from Gu Qianyue’s grip. “You go ahead. I’ll wait outside.”
“Alright, sit tight then.”
As Gu Qianyue stepped inside, Butler Lin quickly pulled Luo Yunye aside to report on Qin Yiwan’s condition.
“Yunye, you wouldn’t believe it—she’s been crying non-stop since you left. Her eyes are swollen, and she didn’t eat dinner. She just sat there like she’s lost all will to live!”
Seeing Luo Yunye remain unmoved, he tugged at her arm anxiously. “She must be full of regret now. I know she hurt you before—but she was suffering from amnesia! She didn’t do it on purpose. Can’t you—”
“I have a girlfriend,” Luo Yunye cut him off at last. “Qianyue confessed this afternoon. I said yes.”
“What?!” Butler Lin blurted out, then quickly clapped a hand over his mouth and looked around. Lowering his voice, he asked, “Do you… like Miss Gu?”
“I can try to,” Luo Yunye said softly, patting his arm. “Anyway, it’s over between me and Qin Yiwan. Don’t bring her up again.”
No wonder Miss Qin had cried so hard…
Butler Lin suddenly felt utterly lost, like his last ally had vanished. He didn’t know what to do anymore.
Inside the room, Gu Qianyue walked in and immediately hugged Qin Yiwan. “Wanwan! How are you feeling? What did the doctor say?”
Qin Yiwan lightly patted her arm and managed a weak smile. “The doctor said I’m fine. I can be discharged tomorrow.”
“That’s a relief. When I heard about the accident this afternoon, I was scared out of my mind. Thank goodness you’re okay.”
Gu Qianyue sat beside her, holding her hand with a look of genuine concern. “Your eyes… are they hurt? They’re so swollen.”
“Just got some dust in them. The doctor checked—nothing serious.”
Qin Yiwan didn’t want to dwell on the topic. She changed the subject. “Did you enjoy your birthday today?”
“I did!” Gu Qianyue’s eyes lit up. “The banquet hall you decorated was gorgeous—perfect for photos. I haven’t even had time to post them yet. Gotta get the timing right for the feed.”
She added with a beaming smile, “And the best part? Yunye agreed to be my girlfriend. I pulled a few tricks, sure, but I’m thrilled with how it turned out.”
Seeing her so happy, Qin Yiwan’s heart twisted with bitterness. She couldn’t even bring herself to offer congratulations. All she could manage was a hollow, “That’s good.”
“As long as you’re okay. It’s getting late—you should rest. Once you’re free, let’s go out and have some fun.”
“Did you come alone? Should I have Butler Lin take you back?”
“No need. Yunye’s waiting for me outside—she’ll take me home.”
Gu Qianyue stood and hugged her goodbye. Qin Yiwan sat still, eyes following her as she walked to the door and called for Luo Yunye.
She watched as Gu Qianyue linked arms with her.
She hoped that maybe—just maybe—Luo Yunye would glance her way.
But even as the door closed, Luo Yunye never looked back.
Her eyes began to sting again. Qin Yiwan sucked in a long breath, tilting her head back to hold back the tears.
But her eyes didn’t listen.
And the tears fell anyway.
