After the Divorce, the Heiress Omega Regretted It - Chapter 6
With no missions to rush through, Luo Yunye slept in for once and woke up naturally. She blinked her eyes open, still a little reluctant to leave the warmth of sleep.
She couldn’t help wondering—would little Qin Yiwan in the dream world miss her when she woke up and found her gone?
Stretching lazily in bed, Luo Yunye rolled over to look at the sleeping beauty beside her. A relaxed smile tugged at her lips. She leaned over and kissed her on the cheek.
“Good morning, wifey.”
Getting up, she padded over to the window and drew open the curtains. Brilliant sunlight spilled into the room, dazzling enough to make her squint.
She turned back and saw the golden light falling right onto Qin Yiwan. Lying there in the soft contrast of light and shadow, she looked as if she were glowing—so vivid, so alive.
Luo Yunye walked into the bathroom. Inside, an array of brand-new, high-end toiletries was neatly arranged. She slowly unpacked a few, washed her face, dried off, and stepped into the walk-in closet to pick out clothes.
The closet alone was the size of a boutique store. It was filled with beautiful outfits, arranged by color and style—clearly a testament to the extravagance of the wealthy.
She ran her fingers along the hangers, eventually picking out a white strapless mini dress from a row of flowing gowns. It fit perfectly—after all, Butler Lin had tailored it exactly to her measurements—highlighting her curves in all the right places.
Luo Yunye admired herself in the mirror. A tiny waist, long legs, hourglass figure, and that gorgeous dress… stunning.
She flicked her hair over her shoulder with satisfaction, then turned to select a pair of earrings. A dazzling collection sparkled in the display case, each pair prettier than the last.
She chose a set of long diamond earrings. Her inky-black hair fell straight down her back, perfectly framing her delicate, makeup-free face.
After slipping on a pair of heels, she opened the door to find Butler Lin already waiting outside. Her eyes lit up at the sight of her.
“Young Madam, would you like to have breakfast now?”
Luo Yunye glanced at the time—it was already ten o’clock.
“I’ll just have something light.”
Though she said “light,” Butler Lin wasn’t about to take her words literally. Soon, a full breakfast spread of twenty dishes was laid out in front of her. There was lean pork and vegetable congee, soup dumplings, steamed buns, eggs, milk, toast, and more.
In all her lifetimes, Luo Yunye had never had a breakfast this extravagant. She blinked in surprise.
“Your family eats like this every morning?”
Butler Lin smiled warmly.
“We can prepare even more if you’d like. Just tell us your preferences, and we’ll adjust tomorrow’s menu accordingly.”
Luo Yunye sampled each dish, then gave her picks to Butler Lin for future reference.
After breakfast, the family doctor arrived to examine Qin Yiwan.
Luo Yunye stayed close by, watching as the doctor used a stethoscope on her chest, performed basic checks, and drew three tubes of bl00d. Then, he placed a neural monitor cap on her head.
Luo Yunye couldn’t make sense of the data and leaned in to ask, “Dr. Xu, how is A’wan doing?”
Dr. Xu stared at the monitor, his expression heavy. He shook his head.
“Her cognitive activity is still very low. The situation doesn’t look good.”
“What counts as ‘active’?”
He pointed to the monitor.
“See this flat line? The minimal fluctuations indicate that Miss Qin is almost entirely without thought—her mind is in a deep state of dormancy.
We’ve treated many coma patients before. But in her case… Young Madam, you should be prepared. Her chances of waking up are… slim.”
“What if she’s dreaming? Would that show up here?”
“If she were dreaming, this line would spike with activity. But it seems she isn’t even dreaming.”
Luo Yunye frowned, looking at Qin Yiwan in bed. Something felt off.
She had clearly been inside Qin Yiwan’s dream before, meaning her mind was active. So why did the monitor show no fluctuations?
Could it be because it was daytime now, and Qin Yiwan wasn’t dreaming?
But Qin Yiwan couldn’t possibly know whether it was day or night…
Luo Yunye’s gaze lingered on her, lost in thought.
“Has her condition always been like this?”
“No. Right after the accident, her cognitive activity was relatively high. But about a week ago, something changed. She suddenly entered a stable dormancy state, and since then, the monitor barely shows any waves.”
After sending the doctor off, Luo Yunye followed Butler Lin to the surveillance room and pulled up footage from outside Qin Yiwan’s bedroom a week ago.

Throughout the entire day, only Qin Rushuang had entered. When she left, her expression was grim—like she’d just made a big decision.
Luo Yunye had a hunch. Judging from the timing, that must’ve been when the marriage arrangement between her and Qin Yiwan was finalized.
Qin Rushuang had probably come to inform her.
From Qin Yiwan’s point of view, she’d been in a coma for barely half a month after the accident, and her fiancée had already abandoned her. Her family, seeking a more suitable Alpha to be her groom, accepted a marriage proposal from the Luo family—replacing her fiancee with a complete stranger.
No one cared how she felt. No one even asked whether she would’ve agreed.
Because in their eyes, though she was still alive… she was already gone.
Maybe that was the moment Qin Yiwan gave up.
Luo Yunye imagined how devastated she must have felt. The weight in her chest tightened.
Back in the room, she sat down at the edge of the bed and gently took Qin Yiwan’s hand.
“Qin Yiwan, I’m Luo Yunye. I know you probably wouldn’t have chosen this, but I’m now your legal wife.
And I want you to know—being alive isn’t for anyone else. You can wake up… just for yourself.”
She bent down and placed a kiss on Qin Yiwan’s forehead, then stepped out and found Butler Lin.
“Tell me everything A’wan likes—foods, flowers, anything with a scent. Bring it all to the room.”
Soon, dishes arrived one after another—sweet duck, sweet-and-sour ribs, spicy peppered fish, and more than ten others.
Luo Yunye sat at the bedside, holding a duck leg under Qin Yiwan’s nose, describing how delicious it tasted in vivid detail.
For each dish, she gave a full commentary like a seasoned food critic. When she was done, she told Butler Lin to make Qin Yiwan’s favorite meals from now on—she’d eat in the room and keep her company.
Butler Lin glanced between the two of them, eyes misting up. At last, their Miss had someone by her side.
By noon, several gardenias were delivered to the room.
“Miss Qin liked many types of flowers, but gardenias bloom best this time of year,” Butler Lin said.
“Perfect,” Luo Yunye replied.
She placed the flowers beside the bed. The white petals were in full bloom, releasing a soft, comforting fragrance that lingered in the air.
Luo Yunye didn’t know if Qin Yiwan could hear her voice—or feel anything, really.
But she thought, as long as she’s still breathing, she can smell the food, the flowers, and feel the changes around her. Maybe, just maybe, she’ll find her way back.
******
In the book, Qin Yiwan woke up six months after the original host married into the Qin family. She was the heroine—of course she’d wake up. Luo Yunye wasn’t worried.
She wasn’t doing this out of obligation. She just didn’t want Qin Yiwan to lie there all alone. It was… a bit pitiful.
Still, pity aside—when her girlfriends invited her out shopping, Luo Yunye dressed up without hesitation.
Being stuck by Qin Yiwan’s side 24/7? That’d be no different from prison.
Now that she wasn’t bound by the plot, she could do whatever she wanted—and she was definitely going to treat herself well.
She asked Butler Lin for the keys to a sports car.
But Butler Lin hesitated. “Young Madam, where are you headed? I can drive you.”
“No need. I can drive myself.”
Butler Lin smiled awkwardly and insisted, “It’s really better if I drive.”
Luo Yunye raised an eyebrow. When she’d asked for anything before, Butler Lin never batted an eye. Why the sudden stalling over car keys? She gave her a once-over and caught that nervous, flattering smile.
“Let me guess—President Qin called you to keep an eye on me?”
Butler Lin said nothing but smiled in response.
Got it.
“Fine,” Luo Yunye said, not bothering to press. “Take me to Yunding Clock Tower.”
As they got in the car and pulled out of the driveway, Butler Lin began a little tour guide spiel, clearly afraid she didn’t know—Yunding Bell Tower was owned by the Qin family.
The Yunding Clock Tower was co-designed by Madam Qin and her wife, with an investment of over ten billion yuan. It’s currently the third tallest building in the world. Four large clocks are installed at the 400-meter mark, making it a landmark of City A.
Inside the tower, there’s a shopping mall, hotel, and various entertainment facilities—providing visitors with a seamless, all-in-one experience.
Madam Qin poured her life’s effort into this clock tower. Later, she handed it over to Miss Qin for management. Unfortunately, less than a year passed before something happened to the young lady.
Butler Lin let out a sigh, her face filled with regret. Their young miss was born under a lucky star and should have lived a carefree life—but fate had other plans, cruel and unfair.
“Grandma handed the clock tower directly to A’Wan? Didn’t she give it to President Qin first and then to A’Wan?”
“No,” Butler Lin explained while driving. “President Qin manages all industries except the clock tower. His responsibilities are vast, and the tower is a colossal project in itself. She simply didn’t have the time. That’s why Madam Qin entrusted it to Miss Qin.”
“What about Aunt Du? She’s been married into the Qin family for over twenty years. What does she handle?”
Butler Lin glanced at her expression through the rearview mirror, searching for a tactful answer. “Director Du handles emerging industries. For example, she’s currently involved in robotics—right up your alley with your background in AI.”
So, she’s in charge of emerging ventures…
Luo Yunye nodded slowly, a faint smirk tugging at her lips.
The Qin family really treated their in-law like a mule, driving her to build one empire after another. Once the venture was stable, they’d harvest the fruits and push her toward the next project.
Capitalists. Cold-blooded—yet efficient.
After all, no one wants their family business falling into the hands of an outsider.
The car stopped at the foot of Yunding Clock Tower. Before stepping out, Luo Yunye turned to ask Butler Lin, “I’m going to meet a friend. Want to come along?”
Butler Lin smiled politely. “You’re teasing me, young madam. I’ll wait downstairs.”
Luo Yunye patted her on the shoulder, her tone cheerful. “Go do your thing. No need to wait around. I’ll call if I need you.”
Standing before the towering skyscraper that disappeared into the clouds, Luo Yunye couldn’t help but think: with such a massive asset on the line, could Qin Rushuang and Du Weimin really not covet it?
Since Qin Yiwan’s accident the control of the clock tower has reverted to Madam Qin. But if Qin Yiwan remained unconscious, the property would likely fall into Qin Rushuang’s hands—and given that Rushuang couldn’t manage other businesses, Du Weimin would naturally reap the benefits too.
From a purely interest-driven perspective, both women had motives.
But then again, even a tiger doesn’t eat its cub. Would they really hurt Qin Yiwan for profit?
Lost in thought, Luo Yunye was suddenly pulled back to reality when a voice called out to her. A girl stood in front of her, eyes wide with surprise. “Yunye? It’s really you! I saw you earlier but didn’t dare call out. You didn’t respond, and I thought I was mistaken!”
Luo Yunye looked at the girl dressed like a stereotypical college student. Her memory filled in the blanks automatically—
Lin Yujia, an Alpha.
Her college roommate. A wealthy heiress, though her laid-back style and lack of interest in fashion usually made her appear like a slightly prettier-than-average student—not quite dazzling, but pleasant.
Before Luo Yunye was reclaimed by the Luo family, the two had been very close.
But after she married Qin Yiwan and got busy building a career, their contact dwindled.
When Yujia later found out Luo Yunye was married and yet involved in an affair, she was disappointed. After attempts at intervention failed, their paths diverged.
Though she wasn’t a major character in the original novel, Luo Yunye always had a soft spot for this free-spirited, kind, and upright girl.
Luo Yunye twirled once, confidently. “So? Don’t I look amazing today?”
She beamed, eyes twinkling like stars.
Yujia laughed and praised without hesitation. “You look stunning! Like you stepped straight out of a drama. Honestly, when you walked in, everyone turned to look at you.”
Luo Yunye raised an eyebrow. “Let them stare. Can’t have what they want anyway.”
“You’re too smug sometimes,” Yujia teased, linking arms with her without a care in the world. Despite her sporty outfit clashing with Luo’s designer glam, she dragged her friend off to browse the mall.
Earlier, she’d messaged Luo saying she had an important banquet tomorrow night and needed a dress. The ones her family bought were too mature for her taste.
They entered a high-end boutique. The sales associate took one look at Luo Yunye’s luxurious outfit and pricey accessories and instantly turned on the charm—completely ignoring Yujia.
The two girls shared a knowing glance. Such a textbook case of judging a book by its cover.
They didn’t walk out in protest, though.
“What kind of dress are you looking for, miss?” the salesperson asked, beaming at Luo Yunye.
Luo casually pointed out several gowns. The clerk joyfully fetched them for the fitting room, mentally ecstatic—just one sale could make her entire week.
Luo Yunye tried a couple on and sneered, “Ugly.”
The clerk stiffened, quickly offering a replacement. “How about this one?”
“I wouldn’t be caught dead in it.”
Glancing over at Yujia trying on a simple black gown, Luo shook her head. “That one drags your whole look down. Way too plain for you.”
Yujia chuckled and changed out of it. “Then I’ll leave it to Miss Luo to pick something good for me.”
“Let’s go,” said Luo. “The stuff here is just… tragic.”
Despite the clerk’s best efforts, the two left without buying anything, leaving her fuming—and a target of her coworkers’ jokes.
Outside, the girls burst into laughter.
“Did you see that saleslady’s face? She was livid!”
“She brought it on herself.” Luo Yunye gave Yujia a once-over. “You really need to work on your fashion sense. It’s honestly tragic.”
“Excuse me?” Yujia laughed. “I like being comfy. Why should I care what others think?”
“That’s fine—but there are stylish clothes that are also comfortable. Let’s go find you some.”
She brought Yujia to a Qin family boutique—where every customer got equal treatment, no matter their appearance or spending habits.
As Yujia browsed, she leaned over and whispered, “Did you hear? Less than a month after Qin Yiwan’s accident, her fiancée announced publicly that the engagement was off.”
“Oh?” Luo feigned surprise, handing her a petal-trimmed white mini-dress. “Try this one.”
“Too short.”
“It’s longer than mine. Just try it. I want to see you in something flirty.”
Yujia raised a brow. “Fine. If you insist.”
As she went to change, someone entered the boutique. Luo Yunye turned her head—speak of the devil—Luo Yunyi and Liu Chuyi.
Luo had no intention of engaging, but the pair made a beeline straight toward her.
“Yunye?” Yunyi looked stunned. “What are you doing here?”
“Shopping.”
Luo picked up a long dress, imagining how great it would look on Yujia.
But Yunyi stormed over, snatched the dress from her hand, and tossed it aside. “You’re out shopping while you should be at home taking care of A’Wan? How could you—”
SLAP.
Luo Yunye didn’t waste time. She smacked Yunyi across the face without a word.
Chuyi rushed up to retaliate but Luo caught her wrist mid-air—effortlessly.
“You let go of my mom!”
“You said it.”
Luo Yunye let go, then gave Chuyi a light push. She stumbled backward, twisted her ankle, and fell hard.
Yunyi tried to catch her, but only managed to fall alongside.
A store clerk hurried over to help them up.
“Call security!”
Humiliated and furious, Chuyi barked at the staff. “Call security! Throw her out—she hit us!”
Security soon arrived. After hearing both sides, the guards… politely escorted Yunyi and Chuyi out of the store.
Chuyi was stunned. “You’ve got the wrong people! I’m the victim here!”
People began to gather, watching the scene unfold. Yunyi hissed, “Mom, stop yelling! Everyone’s looking.”
Chuyi had never suffered such humiliation—not once since marrying Luo Dongbin. Twice now, and both times at Luo Yunye’s hands. She stomped her foot in anger—only to aggravate her sprain.
Yujia came out of the fitting room just as the shouting died down.
“What happened?” she asked.
“Oh, nothing. Just a dog got its paw stepped on and started howling.”
Luo helped smooth her hair and guided her to the mirror. “This dress looks great.”
It was a strapless gown with geometric stitching—stylish yet youthful. Yujia gave a little twirl, and looked satisfied.
“I’ll take it.”
After shopping, they grabbed dinner. Over the meal, Yujia gossiped again about Qin Yiwan and her fiancée, accidentally calling her “Luo Yunye” instead of “Luo Yunyi.” She laughed it off.
“Sorry! I didn’t mean to. I’ve just gotten used to calling your name. Honestly, your names are so similar!”
Luo Yunye had never mentioned her connection to the Luo family. Even in college, when she ran into Yunyi, she pretended not to know her.
Both were Alphas, but Luo Yunye was far more striking. No one imagined they could be sisters—not even Yujia.
She smiled. “Life’s full of coincidences. By the way, you seem really interested in Qin Yiwan’s accident?”
“Not really,” Yujia said, “But the Qin family’s a big name in the business world. My family talks about them at dinner sometimes. I don’t know if it’s true, so don’t tell anyone—but…”
“What?”
“I heard it wasn’t an accident. Someone… wanted her gone.”
She didn’t finish her sentence—felt wrong to jinx someone still alive.
Luo Yunye, of course, already knew it wasn’t an accident. Otherwise, the system wouldn’t have tasked her with finding the culprit.
“If that’s true, the police will find out. The Qin family won’t rest until they do.”
“Yeah… I heard the driver’s daughter had leukemia. Poor girl. But if someone really orchestrated this—how heartless can they be?”
Very heartless, Luo Yunye thought. She made a mental note to visit the driver’s family. Maybe there’d be clues there.
After dinner, Yujia suggested a movie, but Luo Yunye checked the time—nearly 8 p.m.
“Let’s do it another day. I have a cat at home to take care of.”
“You got a cat? Since when?! Why didn’t you send me pics?”
“Just adopted. Haven’t taken any photos yet.”
“Okay then. Another day.”
After seeing her off, Luo Yunye found Butler Lin already waiting outside with the car.
She wasn’t surprised. When the guards sided with her earlier, she knew Butler Lin had been watching all along.
As the car drove off, she leaned back, eyes closed.
“Butler Lin,” she said, “Have you met the family of the driver who hit A’Wan?”
“We did. The driver’s daughter has leukemia. He’d been drinking out of despair. His wife claimed his body—she was really heartbroken.
The police investigated thoroughly. There’s no connection between the driver and the Qin family. There’s no sign of revenge.
Surveillance footage and witness testimony point to it being a drunk-driving accident.”
“I see.”
“Tomorrow, send them 100,000 yuan. His daughter was still in the hospital. They’re in a tough spot.”
“But, miss…”
Lin hesitated. How could the driver’s family deserve sympathy when Miss Qin was still in a coma?
“Butler Lin,” Luo Yunye said coldly, eyes snapping open, “Have you ever heard this saying?”
“What?”
“Pitiful people often have something hateful about them too.”
If it wasn’t an accident, then it had to be murder.
The driver was dead. There’s no way to confront him.
So now, the only way forward… was through the living.
