After the Divorce, the Heiress Omega Regretted It - Chapter 8
After paying, as they stepped outside, Luo Yunye handed the bag containing the suppressants to Qin Yiwan and asked, “Do you know how to use this?”
Qin Yiwan took a deep breath, glanced around at the people nearby, and wished she could sink into the ground. Who would discuss how to use suppressants in public?
Her face burned with embarrassment. She ignored Luo Yunye and hurried straight to the car. Only after she got in and closed the door did she breathe a sigh of relief.
Butler Mo noticed her nervousness and turned to ask with concern, “Miss, are you alright?”
“I’m fine, really,” she said, shaking her head.
Luo Yunye had already climbed into the car and asked with a teasing smile, “Why were you running?”
“I was just hungry. Wanted to get home for dinner,” Qin Yiwan replied, turning her head to look out the window.
Luo Yunye hadn’t gone through a heat cycle since arriving in this world, and she’d never used suppressants either. To her, buying suppressants was like a girl buying sanitary pads—normal, everyday stuff. No reason to feel embarrassed.
When they arrived at the Qin household, Qin Yiwan opened the car door and got out. Luo Yunye called after her and handed her the bag.
Qin Yiwan hesitated, her cheeks flushed with anxiety. She leaned in close and whispered, “Can you keep it for me? Just give it back later.”
She didn’t want Qin Rushuang to find out she’d gone out to buy suppressants with an alpha.
Though Qin Rushuang didn’t pay her much attention, she had warned her coldly on more than one occasion not to get too close to alphas. She didn’t want to be dragged into some scandal if things went wrong.
Qin Yiwan had long grown used to her mother’s coldness. Though she responded without expression, she hadn’t truly drawn a line with Luo Yunye.
It was hard to—Luo Yunye always showed up when she needed someone the most, and disappeared without a trace at other times. That quiet, steady presence gave her a strange sense of security.
Back at the brightly lit home, Qin Rushuang and Du Weimin were already eating. They hadn’t waited for her, nor had they called to ask when she’d be back—as if she were just a dispensable outsider.
Still, there was a place set for her at the table. Qin Yiwan walked over, pulled out a chair, and greeted respectfully before sitting down. “Mom, I’m home.”
Qin Rushuang didn’t respond.
Du Weimin glanced at her, then at Qin Yiwan, and offered gently, “Come eat. We didn’t wait because your mom has an online meeting soon—she’s in a bit of a rush. Don’t take it personally.”
“I won’t,” Qin Yiwan replied and quietly began to eat.
Du Weimin occasionally brought up work during the meal and asked how her studies were going.
Sipping her soup slowly, Qin Yiwan wiped her mouth before answering, “The teachers are pretty good. I’m keeping up in all subjects—nothing too hard so far.”
Du Weimin nodded with a soft smile. “Our Wanwan’s always been bright. Of course you wouldn’t have a problem.”
Qin Yiwan smiled back. “How’s work been for you lately, Mom?”
“It’s been busy, but manageable. Your mom’s been swamped, though. She hasn’t had a proper rest in days.”
Qin Yiwan looked toward Qin Rushuang. Her mother’s expression was as cold as ever. No matter what they talked about, she had no intention of joining in.
Feeling a little disheartened but trying not to show it, Qin Yiwan still reached out and placed a piece of meat in her mother’s bowl. “Mom, even if work is busy, you still need to take care of yourself—”
Before she could finish, Qin Rushuang cut her off. “You don’t need to worry about me.”
Then she wiped her mouth with a napkin, stood up, and headed upstairs.
Qin Yiwan’s eyes followed her mother’s retreating back, then dropped to the untouched piece of meat sitting cold in her mother’s bowl—likely to be thrown away.
Du Weimin noticed the flicker of disappointment on her face. She gently placed more food on her plate and coaxed warmly, “You’re at an age where your body’s still growing—eat more.”
“Your mom’s been having stomach problems lately. It’s hard for her to digest meat. Don’t blame her.”
Qin Yiwan shook her head. She had long stopped expecting affection from Qin Rushuang. What would be the point of blaming her? It would only make herself feel worse. Better to let go and take care of herself.
After dinner, Qin Yiwan went upstairs. As she opened the door, she saw Luo Yunye lying on the sofa, looking at her phone.
She quickly stepped inside and locked the door. “How did you get in?” she asked in a hushed voice.
She had planned to sneak her in after everyone went to bed—she hadn’t expected Luo Yunye to be here already.
“I climbed in through the balcony,” Luo Yunye said nonchalantly, pointing outside.
Then she handed over the bag with the suppressants. “Put it somewhere you can easily reach. Might come in handy.”
Qin Yiwan hurriedly took it, glanced around, and slipped it into the drawer under her nightstand.
Luo Yunye noticed the red flush creeping up her face and couldn’t help teasing, “You sure you don’t need me to teach you?”
“No!” Qin Yiwan frowned. “Stop talking about it!”
She could always search for a video tutorial later—no need for an alpha to explain something so awkward.
By the time she finished her homework and tidied up, it was already past ten. Luo Yunye lay on the sofa playing a game. Sensing Qin Yiwan watching her, she turned off her phone and looked over. “Am I keeping you from sleeping?”
“No.”
Qin Yiwan lay down, pulling the blanket up and turning her back to Luo Yunye. But her eyes stayed open.
She wanted to ask if Luo Yunye would be gone by morning. But saying that aloud felt like asking her to stay. She couldn’t bring herself to do it.
“I’m hungry,” Luo Yunye muttered, hand on her growling stomach.
“I’ll go get you something?” Qin Yiwan sat up.
The two stared at each other in the dark, unable to clearly see the other’s expression.
For some reason, Qin Yiwan felt nervous. Her cheeks warmed as she realized how much she cared about Luo Yunye.
“No need.” Luo Yunye walked over to the bed, patted her head gently, and said softly, “I… probably need to go soon. You should sleep. Good night.”
“Okay,” Qin Yiwan whispered, her heart sinking. She blinked rapidly. “Okay, I’ll sleep now.”
She pulled the blanket over herself, curling up with her back to Luo Yunye. A little lonely, a little stubborn.
Luo Yunye turned and walked into her closet.
Qin Yiwan heard her footsteps fading and thought she had left. But when she turned around, she saw Luo Yunye come out holding a dolphin-shaped pillow.
Still just a middle schooler, her eyes lit up as she sat up and held out her hands. “When did you get that?”
“I bought it while you were at school,” Luo Yunye said, placing it in her arms. “I figured when I’m not here, it could keep you company.”
“Thank you.”
Qin Yiwan snuggled against the pillow, feeling better already.
“Go to sleep. I’ll stay with you until you’re asleep, then I’ll go.”
Qin Yiwan lay down while hugging the dolphin. Luo Yunye tucked her in and gently patted her shoulder like lulling a child to sleep.

Back to the real world:
Once Qin Yiwan’s breathing grew steady and Luo Yunye opened her eyes again—her stomach still growling too loudly to sleep.
Then came a knock at the door.
“Who is it?”
Luo Yunye looked at Qin Yiwan sleeping beside her, straightened her pajamas, and got out of bed to open the door.
It was Butler Lin. When he saw her in sleepwear, he respectfully looked aside. “Young madam, President Qin has asked you to come down for breakfast.”
Qin Rushuang asking her to come down? Must be something important.
“Alright. I’ll be down after I freshen up.”
When Luo Yunye finally came downstairs, Qin Rushuang had already finished eating and was waiting.
Du Weimin, clearly annoyed at her being late, said sharply, “Yunye, President Qin has been waiting. Hurry up.”
“Sorry, sorry,” Luo Yunye said, rubbing her temples with a relaxed air. “I had a dream about Wanwan last night, and I slept too deeply. I couldn’t wake up this morning. Sorry for keeping you both waiting.”
She sat down and began to eat casually.
Surprisingly, Qin Rushuang wasn’t angry. In fact, she felt a strange warmth looking at her—like seeing Yi Yao again, as if her lost daughter had returned.
If her Yiyao were still alive, she’d probably be around this age too.
Young, full of life, confident, and beautiful—and they were both Alphas.
Alphas were always meant to be the true heirs of the Qin family.
“Come with me tonight to the Gu family’s birthday banquet,” Qin Rushuang said.
She recalled how overly flamboyant Luo Yunye’s makeup had been on her wedding day and gave her a gentle reminder: “Keep it low-key.”
Luo Yunye gave her a polite smile. “Of course, Mom.”
As dusk approached and it was nearly time to leave, Luo Yunye applied some light makeup and chose a modest long dress. It wasn’t flashy, but it was certainly elegant enough.
Qin Rushuang waited for her in the car. When she saw her daughter approach with barely any makeup on, wearing a soft, graceful dress and her long hair draped over her shoulders, she looked every bit the picture of a refined lady—no less poised than Qin Yiwan.
Satisfied, she nodded. “Let’s go.”
Luo Yunye wasn’t particularly interested in birthday parties. To her, it was just an excuse to enjoy free food and drinks.
What she didn’t expect was to run into Lin Yujia—at the very same event. From afar, she instantly recognized the gown she had personally picked out for Lin Yujia.
“Stop the car, Butler Lin,” she suddenly said.
Butler Lin didn’t panic and slowly pulled over.
Luo Yunye turned to Qin Rushuang. “Mom, that’s my university classmate. She doesn’t know I married A’Wan yet.”
Qin Rushuang hadn’t planned on introducing her to people in the business world just yet. With a soft tone, she said, “Tonight is just for you to observe and learn a bit about socializing. You can move around on your own—you don’t need to stick with me.”yuuu
Luo Yunye stepped out of the car early and strolled toward the villa. At the entrance, a well-mannered greeter opened the door for her.
Once inside, her eyes scanned the room for Lin Yujia. She didn’t spot her but did catch sight of Luo Yunyi and Luo Dongbin.
Their eyes met, and Luo Yunye smirked coldly before looking away as if she hadn’t seen them at all. She turned and slowly made her way to the food table, picking up a glass of wine and browsing for something she liked.
Luo Dongbin, seeing that she didn’t even bother to greet him, immediately darkened. His expression frosty, he strode over to her.
“Come with me. I need to talk to you.”
He stood beside her, his lowered voice unable to hide his anger.
“You’re in my way,” Luo Yunye said coolly.
She lightly pushed him aside, picked up a piece of cake that was right in front of him, and placed it on her plate before turning to head to the fruit table.
She didn’t even acknowledge him.
Luo Dongbin couldn’t believe that now that she had married into the Qin family, she no longer respected him. He stepped forward and grabbed her arm.
“Come outside with me.”
Not wanting to cause a scene at someone else’s birthday banquet, Luo Yunye warned coldly, “You’d better let go of me right now. Or I’ll spill every disgusting secret about your perfect little family in front of everyone here.”
Luo Dongbin froze.
Just then, Luo Yunyi rushed over and grabbed his arm. In a sweet tone, she said, “Dad, calm down. There are so many people here tonight. Don’t make a scene.”
Once she calmed him down, she turned to Luo Yunye. Feeling braver—assuming Luo Yunye wouldn’t dare to lose control and hit someone at such a formal occasion—she added, “Yunye, how can you talk to Dad like that? He’s just worried about you and wants to know how you’re doing in the Qin family.”
Luo Yunye let out a soft laugh. “And what does that have to do with you?”
“Of course it matters. Even if you married in my place, the Qin family would surely treat you well out of respect for me. But if you’re unhappy, I’d feel guilty. And if you’re doing well, we can all be at ease.”
“Then rest easy,” Luo Yunye leaned in, smiling as she whispered in her ear, “I’ve got beauty in my arms and money in the bank. Thanks to you, I’m doing just fine.”
Luo Yunyi refused to believe that someone discarded by the Luo family could live well in the Qin household. It had to be because of her and Qin Yiwan’s friendship that the Qin family was willing to give Luo Yunye a little face.
She clenched her teeth. That had to be it.
Luo Yunye ignored them and walked away, spotting Lin Yujia approaching from the corridor. Picking up a glass of wine, she circled around the Luo father-daughter pair and made her way over.
******
Lin Yujia wasn’t really into these events either—if her family hadn’t insisted she come to make connections, she wouldn’t have bothered.
When she suddenly saw Luo Yunye, her eyes lit up. Lifting her skirt slightly, she jogged over in heels, full of delight. “You’re here too? That’s great! I was just thinking how boring it was to be here alone.”
Luo Yunye handed her a glass. “Come on, Miss Lin. Anywhere you want to explore?”
The two of them snuck out of the banquet hall and made their way to the garden in the back. They each found a lounge chair, clinked their glasses, and shared a quiet smile—a sense of easy camaraderie between them.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the garden lights came on, twinkling softly and reflecting off the surface of the pool, casting a serene atmosphere over the quiet evening.
“Hey, this is a pretty exclusive party. All these guests are business elites. Who did you come with?” Lin Yujia asked.
“Me?” Luo Yunye chuckled and made something up casually. “A relative. I begged her to bring me since I’ve never been to one of these things.”
Every time she spoke, Lin Yujia couldn’t help but smile.
“If I’d known you wanted to come, we could’ve come together!”
“Well, now you know. Just a lucky coincidence.”
They lay back, sipping their drinks and rocking gently on the lounge chairs—until the sound of an argument broke the peace.
“Let go of me! Zhou Zhen, get out! I don’t want to see you again!”
“Qianyue, please let me explain. It wasn’t like that—I really don’t have anything going on with her! It was her birthday and she wanted to have dinner and sing a bit. Then during truth or dare, she just kissed me out of nowhere! I pulled away, I swear! I don’t feel anything for her—please believe me!”
“I believe you don’t like her. But that doesn’t mean I can accept someone kissing my girlfriend.”
“Zhou Zhen, we’re done. Let go of me!”
The night was dimly lit, and as Lin Yujia squinted to see, she recognized them from their voices and silhouettes. “That looks like the eldest daughter of the Gu family. She went to our school—probably the same year as Qin Yiwan. Do you remember her?”
Luo Yunye shook her head. The original “her” in college had only ever been interested in one Omega—the one who dumped her to chase a career in showbiz. She still hadn’t even seen what that person looked like now.
“Let’s go.”
Eavesdropping on a couple’s fight from the shadows was just asking for awkwardness if they got caught.
As the two of them quietly stood to leave, they suddenly heard a loud splash—someone had fallen into the water.
Looking back, they saw Zhou Zhen on the edge of the pool, panicking. “Help! Somebody help! Neither of us can swim—what do we do?!”
She was clearly distressed, reaching out in vain for Gu Qianyue, who was flailing in the water and completely out of reach.
Luo Yunye hadn’t planned to get involved, but if someone died because she stood by and did not do anything, it would be a whole mess.
“Hold this for me.”
She handed her glass to Lin Yujia, walked briskly to the poolside, took off her heels, and dove in.
She was a natural in the water—gliding like a mermaid beneath the surface. It took barely a minute to get Qianyue out.
Gu Qianyue never imagined nearly drowning in her own swimming pool. She had hated water since childhood and never learned to swim and she usually didn’t even go near pools. If not for the crowd in the main hall tonight, she wouldn’t have come out here to argue with Zhou Zhen, much less fallen in by accident.
The moment she hit the water, panic overtook her. Zhou Zhen, useless as ever, was just screaming from the edge. She genuinely thought she was going to die—until someone grabbed her waist and pulled her up.
When she turned and saw a stunning face, Gu Qianyue thought she must’ve been dreaming about some “heroine saves the damsel” fantasy. Even as Luo Yunye carried her ashore and sat her down, she was still in shock.
Standing at the edge, Luo Yunye looked down at her soaked dress. There was no way she could return to the party like this.
With a slight frown, she looked at Gu Qianyue and asked, “Do you have any dry clothes here? Mind if I borrow something to wear?”
Zhou Zhen on the otherhand who’d been pestering Qianyue to see if she was okay and getting zero response, immediately snapped back to attention when Luo Yunye spoke.
“Yes! Come with me—I’ll show you!”
