After the Divorce, the Heiress Omega Regretted It - Chapter 9
Qianyue led Luo Yunye upstairs to the guest room. Seeing her soaked to the bone, arms crossed over her chest to shield herself, wet hair tucked behind her ears revealing a flawless, delicate face—Qianyue couldn’t look away.
The drenched dress clung to Luo Yunye’s body and her curves vaguely visible under the soft light. She looked like a beauty stepping out of a painting, a goddess fresh from the bath.
Qianyue had met many good-looking alphas before, but the woman in front of her was stunning—so perfectly aligned with her own tastes that it felt unreal. Even that cool, slightly aloof temperament added to her allure.
Her heart thudded uncontrollably, cheeks flushing, and her voice came out with a slight nervous tremor. “Y-you should take a shower first. There are clean towels and a bathrobe inside. I’ll go find you something to wear.”
Luo Yunye gave a polite smile. “Alright. Thank you.”
Qianyue turned and left with a barely contained excitement. As she reached the stairs, she spotted Lin Yujia coming up. She quickly reined in her emotions and offered a gentle smile, gesturing toward the guest room. “She’s inside.”
Lin Yujia had overheard the conversation. She nodded and said, “I’ll come with you to get clothes. You could use a quick freshen-up too.”
“Alright, give me a second.”
Back in her room, Qianyue searched the walk-in closet, recalling Luo Yunye was taller than her. She picked out a few long dresses that she thought might fit and handed them to Lin Yujia.
“Thanks.”
Lin Yujia looked a bit surprised by the number of dresses—each one was brand-new with tags still on—but she smiled warmly. “No need to thank me.”
She knocked on the guest room door, but no one responded. Opening it, she saw the room empty, but the sound of running water came from the bathroom. She walked over and knocked gently.
“Yunye, Miss Gu brought some dresses for you. You can try them after your shower.”
“Okay, got it,” came Luo Yunye’s voice from inside.
After a relaxing hot shower, Luo Yunye emerged in a bathrobe. Lin Yujia handed her a hairdryer and motioned for her to sit on the bed while she helped dry her hair.
As she did, Luo Yunye browsed through the dresses. At first, she wanted to pick a bold red one, but remembering how Qin Rushuang had reminded her to stay low-key, she changed her mind and went for a silver dress instead.
Once dressed and dried, a knock came at the door. Luo Yunye opened it to find Qianyue standing there, now changed into a soft white spaghetti-strap gown. Her chestnut curls fell loosely down her back, and the earlier awkwardness had faded into a warm smile.
“Sorry to trouble you both tonight when you were supposed to be my guests. I don’t think I’ve gotten your names yet—do you mind telling me?”
“I’m Luo Yunye.”
“Luo Yunye?” Qianyue covered her mouth in surprise and laughed. “No wonder you looked so familiar! I’m actually your senior—two years ahead of you.”
She smiled with a hint of nostalgia. “Back in college, your name was all over the forums. Everyone was saying there was a stunning new alpha freshman, unbelievably pretty. Seeing you in person today… they weren’t wrong.”
“You flatter me, Senior.”
Qianyue turned to Lin Yujia, who introduced herself, “I’m Lin Yujia. Yunye and I are roommates.”
“Lin Yujia… I’ve heard of you too,” Qianyue said, laughing. “I had dinner with my dad once and your dad was there. He mentioned you—said you were great at everything, except that you dressed like a kid.”
She gave Lin Yujia an approving glance. “But today, you look beautiful.”
“Thank you, Senior. Yunye picked this dress for me.”
Qianyue’s eyes returned to Luo Yunye. She’d never believed the hype on the forums, and honestly, she disliked how people exaggerated beauty. She’d even blocked Luo Yunye’s name just to avoid the flood of posts.
Now she regretted it—how had she missed such a stunning alpha all this time?
“Come on, the banquet’s started. Let’s go downstairs.”
Luo Yunye and Lin Yujia followed Qianyue down to the ballroom. As soon as they entered, all eyes turned to them—mostly to Qianyue, the hostess.
But Qin Rushuang immediately noticed the dress on Luo Yunye had changed. It wasn’t the one she wore earlier. Clearly, something had happened between her and Qianyue. With so many people around, she couldn’t just walk up and ask.
“You two wait here a sec,” Qianyue said with a smile, pointing to a nearby sofa. “I’m going to give my dad his birthday gift.”
Luo Yunye and Lin Yujia found a quiet corner to sit. They clinked glasses and sipped their drinks, watching the business crowd mingling nearby.
Suddenly, Luo Yunye’s gaze met Qin Rushuang’s across the room. Qin pointed at her dress, and Luo Yunye gave a casual “okay” gesture with a smile, signaling that everything was fine.
Seeing that, Qin Rushuang relaxed, her rare smile returning as she resumed chatting with the other company heads.
Qianyue had just hugged her father and handed him the gift when she turned back, skirts lifted slightly, almost skipping toward Luo Yunye.
But halfway there, someone blocked her path—Luo Yunyi.
Qianyue blinked, surprised. “Do you need something?”
If not, move. I’m about to go flirt with my junior.
She glanced past Luo Yunyi, catching sight of Luo Yunye, and all the gloom from earlier—the heartbreak, the breakup with Zhou Zhen Qianlu—vanished like smoke. Her whole demeanor brightened with anticipation.
“Xiyue (Qianyue) it’s been so long since Wanwan’s accident. I haven’t even been allowed to see her once… I don’t know how she’s doing. I think about her all the time…”
Before Luo Yunyi could finish her melodrama, Qianyue gently patted her arm to interrupt. “I’ll visit Wanwan sometime soon. If you want, you can come with me.”
“Really?” Luo Yunyi grabbed her arm, suddenly hopeful. “You’d take me to see Wanwan?”
Qianyue wasn’t entirely sure. Ever since Qin Yiwan’s accident, she’d only been allowed one visit before the Qin family shut everyone out.
“We’ll have to see what Aunt Qin says. It’s not really up to me. But if there’s nothing else, I need to get back to my juniors.”
Luo Yunyi followed her gaze—to Luo Yunye and Lin Yujia.
Her brow furrowed. In that short moment of distraction, Qianyue had already walked off, happily chatting with them.
Luo Yunyi’s eyes locked onto Luo Yunye’s breathtaking face. Watching her laughing with Qianyue, her expression darkened unconsciously.
She had already lost Wanwan to her. Now even their mutual friends?
She could only blame herself for not being firm enough. When news came that Qin Yiwan had become comatose, her family had immediately opposed the marriage.
They said she’d be a widow in all but name. People would laugh, and it would shame the Luo family.
At first, Luo Yunyi resisted—she said she didn’t care about others’ opinions.
But within a day, the online chatter exploded. Netizens loved spinning tragedies into gossip. One particular comment hit her like a knife:
“Being engaged to a coma patient is like staring at a cake behind glass. Looks good, but you can’t touch it. It’ll drive anyone mad.”
She was a normal alpha with real desires. If Qin Yiwan never woke up, was she supposed to take inhibitors for the rest of her life?
She didn’t trust herself not to betray Qin Yiwan. Better to end it now than live with guilt later.
What she never expected was that Luo Yunye—the one originally sent to take her place as a pawn—would break free and steal everything connected to Qin Yiwan from her.
Sensing Luo Yunyi’s stare, Luo Yunye met her eyes directly, a faintly mocking smile curling on her lips.
“Isn’t that Qin Yiwan’s fiancée?” Lin Yujia asked, following Luo Yunye’s gaze.
In her mind, Luo Yunyi was defined only by that title. Without Qin Yiwan, she was nobody.
Qianyue glanced over too, her smile light. “Not anymore. Their engagement was canceled after Wanwan’s accident.”
She didn’t know the full story, but she’d heard Qin Rushuang and her father mention the breakup.
“Seriously?” Lin Yujia perked up, gossip senses tingling in her. “So the rumors online were true? That Luo Yunyi didn’t want to be a widow and asked to break it off?”
Qianyue shrugged. “I’m not sure. But maybe it’s for the best—for both of them.”
She had never liked weak alphas, especially ones like Luo Yunyi who always acted frail. She even dragged them down on a group hike. If not for her connection to Qin Yiwan, Qianyue wouldn’t have given her the time of day.
She always thought if it weren’t for the engagement, Qin Yiwan and Luo Yunyi wouldn’t have had anything to do with each other.
Now that it is over, maybe things could start fresh.
“Oh right—you two are in your junior year now, right?” Qianyue asked, recalling that she’d heard of Luo Yunye during her own freshman year.
“Yeah, junior year,” Lin Yujia replied.
“Starting internships soon?”
“Mm,” Luo Yunye nodded. “I’ve already picked a company.”
“You have?” Lin Yujia was surprised. “Why didn’t you say anything?”
“I wasn’t sure if I’d go, so I didn’t bring it up.”
“Which company is it?” Qianyue asked.
“Zhongyue Tech.”
“Oh, that’s Wanwan’s family’s company! Aunt Du’s managing it now. If you need help, I can put in a word.”
“Thanks, Senior,” Luo Yunye smiled, “but it’s a small matter. No need to trouble you.”
Realizing it was getting late, Luo Yunye set down her half-finished drink. “Yujia, Senior, it’s getting late. I’m going to head out.”
“But it’s not even nine,” Qianyue said, a bit disappointed. “Why the rush?”
“My cat’s waiting at home. Thinking of her all alone makes me anxious.”
Though her words sounded casual, the faint smile on her lips was filled with anticipation—like she was about to meet someone special.
“Alright then. Be safe on the way.”
Qianyue, unaware of who she was really going to see, assumed it was for her beloved cat. She arranged a driver for her.
Lin Yujia wanted to leave too, but Qianyue stopped her. “No rush. Stay and have a bit more fun.”
Lin Yujia looked at Luo Yunye already getting into the car, then at Qianyue’s hopeful face. She hesitated, then nodded. “Alright… I’ll stay.”
Luo Yunye gave the driver an address close to home and texted Qin Rushuang that she was heading back early.
The car wound down the mountain road, windows open. The night breeze swept in as she pushed her hair out of her face and looked toward the brightly lit city.
Suddenly, she thought of that night in her dream—riding the Ferris wheel with Qin Yiwan, gazing at the city lights.
She wondered how Yiwan was doing now. Had she thought of her?
Luo Yunye realized something quietly.
She kind of missed Qin Yiwan.
She wanted to see her—soon.
