After the Flash Marriage, My Ex Who is a Movie Queen Keeps Flirting with Me - Chapter 16
Filming began at 7:30 the next morning, requiring Ming Jiyue to wake up early.
Though Best Actress Ming appeared casual in her personal life, taking things in stride with good humor, she approached her professional work—especially acting—with unwavering dedication. For her, the role always came first.
Ming Jiyue’s current success was no overnight achievement. Lacking formal training and facing family troubles early in her career, she initially landed only minor roles. It took over a year before she secured a supporting role in a low-budget drama.
The lead actress, fresh off a hit series, refused to waste time on such an obscure project and abruptly withdrew. Ming Jiyue seized the opportunity, volunteering herself for the role.
The drama, with its unknown director, writers, and cast, lacked even a marketing budget. Yet Ming Jiyue, through her transformative portrayal of the character, breathed new life into the script, elevating the entire production. The series became a surprise hit, earning her critical acclaim and making the character Lu Jun a household name. This marked her first critically acclaimed drama and solidified her breakthrough.
With both stunning looks and exceptional acting skills, it was almost impossible for Ming Jiyue not to become a star. She steadily built her career through sheer talent, accumulating waves of drama and film fans, and repeatedly claimed the Best Actress title.
A renowned director once offered the simplest yet most accurate assessment: “Watching Ming Jiyue’s performance is like witnessing a lavish visual feast.”
However, the ever-dedicated Best Actress Ming woke up late this morning.
The reason was simple: human energy is finite. After a late-night workout, it’s perfectly normal to struggle to get up early.
Her assistant waited for a long time, but Ming Jiyue didn’t come out. When phone calls went unanswered, the assistant grew concerned. What’s wrong? She never needs to be reminded.
Reluctantly, the assistant knocked on the door.
It took several minutes of persistent knocking before the door finally creaked open. Ming Jiyue stood in the doorway, radiating a palpable aura of gloom. “What is it?”
The assistant whispered, “Sister… Sister Ming, we need to be at work by 7:30 today.”
As she spoke, the assistant instinctively glanced inside, curious about what had kept Ming Jiyue from answering her calls. When her eyes accidentally caught sight of something, she immediately lowered her head, pretending to be blind.
Ming Jiyue smoothed her hair, her mind still hazy with sleep, and nodded. “I understand. Just give me a moment.”
She closed the door and returned to the room. The bedsheets were rumpled, clothes lay scattered haphazardly around the bed, and a figure lay sprawled across the large bed, awakened by the knocking and frowning in her restless sleep.
Seeing her beloved right before her, Ming Jiyue’s frown softened. She leaned close to Jiang Wanyu’s ear and whispered, “Rest a little longer. I’ll head to the set first.”
Half-asleep, Jiang Wanyu murmured a soft “Mmm.”
Ming Jiyue’s heart melted. She pressed a kiss to the corner of Jiang Wanyu’s lips before washing up and leaving.
Outside, her assistant was still waiting. Seeing her emerge, the assistant immediately fell into step, remembering to ask about the instructions from the previous night: “Sister Jiang said she was leaving early today. Should I take her to the airport?”
Ming Jiyue smiled. “No rush. She was exhausted last night. Let her rest properly first.”
The assistant nodded, eyes fixed downward, deliberately blocking her mind from dwelling on what “exhausted” might imply.
Jiang Wanyu slept until noon. When she opened her eyes, the midday sun streamed through the gaps in the curtains, dazzlingly bright.
This time, Jiang Wanyu woke up feeling much calmer than before.
First time’s a shock, second time’s familiar, she thought.
Ming Jiyue was right—they were wives now. It was perfectly normal for things to happen between them, just fulfilling their legal obligations to support each other.
With this thought, Jiang Wanyu felt much more at ease.
She rubbed her temples as she sat up, her head still a little dizzy.
Ming Jiyue returned just then. “Awake?”
Jiang Wanyu nodded. Seeing the takeout box in Ming Jiyue’s hand, she frowned slightly. “Takeout again?”
“Yeah, I’d really love to eat Auntie’s cooking, but the circumstances don’t allow it. We’ll have to make do.”
“Do you eat takeout every day?”
“Of course not.”
Jiang Wanyu was about to relax when Ming Jiyue added, “I mostly eat the crew’s boxed meals.”
It was indeed inconvenient on set. Ming Jiyue smiled. “Xiao Yu, do you want to bring me a homemade lunch every day?”
Such a thing was clearly unrealistic, and Ming Jiyue was just teasing. “Come eat.”
“How are you feeling? Any discomfort?” Ming Jiyue set down her things and walked to the bedside, asking softly with genuine concern. She was the epitome of thoughtfulness.
Jiang Wanyu glanced up at her, saying nothing, but her expression clearly conveyed dissatisfaction.
“What’s wrong? What are you unhappy about? Compared to Teacher Jiang, I’ve been incredibly gentle, haven’t I?”
Jiang Wanyu offered a terse assessment: “You and I are two peas in a pod.”
Ming Jiyue was in high spirits, agreeing with whatever Jiang Wanyu said. Noticing a small cut at the corner of Jiang Wanyu’s lip, with a faint trickle of bl00d, she frowned, feigning remorse. “Oh no, what happened to your lip? Could it be from last night…? It’s all my fault for being too rough.”
Jiang Wanyu instinctively raised a hand to block her view, her lashes lowered. “You’re overthinking it. I accidentally bit it this morning.”
Ming Jiyue: Your teeth must be positioned in a rather awkward spot.
Pretending not to hear the remark, Ming Jiyue asked, “Do you have any ointment? I’ll apply it for you so it heals faster.”
“It’s fine, it’s just a small cut.”
“How can I just ignore it when I’m the one who hurt you? If you don’t have any, I’ll go buy some.”
Jiang Wanyu relented. “There’s some in my bag. Take it.”
“Xiao Yu is always so thoughtful.” Ming Jiyue didn’t hesitate, grabbing the bag and rummaging through it.
As Ming Jiyue pulled items from the bag one by one, a wallet slipped out and fell with a thud, its contents scattering across the floor.
Jiang Wanyu, sitting on the bed, happened to witness the scene. Her eyelid twitched, and she instinctively moved to help. “I’ll get it.”
“No need, I’ll handle it. Sorry for making a mess,” Ming Jiyue said, crouching down. Noticing the scattered movie ticket stubs and other items in the wallet, she teased, “Xiao Yu really loves movies, huh? Keeping all these…”
Her words trailed off as she read the movie titles on the stubs.
Flipping through the rest, Ming Jiyue couldn’t help but smile. “Dr. Jiang said he was too busy with his studies to have time, yet he still managed to watch my movies? He must really like them. Thank you for your patronage, Dr. Jiang.”
She noticed Jiang Wanyu had frozen mid-motion, now feigning casualness. “I went with a friend and just tossed the stubs in my wallet.”
“Then she must be a die-hard fan of mine! She’s seen quite a few of my films,” Ming Jiyue chuckled. “Who is she? I’d love to meet her sometime.”
Jiang Wanyu lowered her gaze. “You wouldn’t know her. Let’s talk about it another time.”
“Alright,” Ming Jiyue nodded, her mood buoyant. “I’m really looking forward to that day.”
This set visit had been a complete success. Ming Jiyue had enjoyed a meal cooked by her wife’s own hands, slept with her, and learned that despite claiming to be too busy, Wan Yu had watched so many of her films.
It was an absolute win.
Ming Jiyue was utterly content, but as the time for parting approached, she still felt reluctant to let go.
Ming Jiyue resumed filming in the afternoon, while Jiang Wanyu prepared to leave. Before departing, she went to the set to say goodbye.
Hearing that Jiang Wanyu had arrived, Ming Jiyue, still in her ancient costume, rushed out to greet her.
Ming Jiyue possessed exquisite features, a true bone-structure beauty with impeccable poise and presence. Now adorned in elaborate historical attire, her long, slanted eyebrows swept dramatically toward her temples, framing a face of striking, heroic elegance. She resembled a masterpiece of ink wash painting—perfectly balanced in light and shadow, imbued with natural grace.
Though Jiang Wanyu had seen her the previous day, she was still mesmerized by Ming Jiyue’s radiant beauty. She only snapped out of her daze when the actress stood right before her.
“Leaving already?” Ming Jiyue asked.
“Mm-hmm,” Jiang Wanyu replied, her voice muffled by the mask she wore to avoid being recognized. They could only exchange a few hurried words in a secluded corner before she had to leave.
“Remember to think of me when you get back,” Ming Jiyue murmured, leaning closer. Her long, thick lashes fluttered like the wings of a butterfly poised for flight.
Ming Jiyue, stunning in modern attire, was even more breathtaking in her ancient costume, her beauty captivating Jiang Wanyu’s heart. Jiang Wanyu barely registered her words, her gaze fixed on the woman’s face as she nodded absently, “Okay.”
She almost suspected Ming Jiyue was doing this on purpose, seducing her right before leaving.
Ming Jiyue was about to say more when her assistant rushed over, frantic. “Sister Ming, something’s happened!”
Ming Jiyue’s heart skipped a beat. “Again?”
“Check Weibo,” the assistant said, her face grim with anger.
Ming Jiyue immediately logged onto Weibo, where Liu Fan’s name was trending at the top.
Sensing trouble, she clicked on the hashtag and saw Liu Fan had posted a tweet half an hour earlier:
@LiuFan: Back at the film studio after wrapping up! Visited a friend—it was great!
Ming Jiyue’s expression turned cold. Scrolling down, she saw dozens of new comments flooding the feed with each refresh:
Ahhh, after all this waiting, someone finally claimed her! I never expected it to be Liu Fan!
Holy crap, Liu Fan visited the set?! Ming Jiyue’s rumored girlfriend in the industry—it has to be her!
