After the Flash Marriage, My Ex Who is a Movie Queen Keeps Flirting with Me - Chapter 7
Her colleague briefly explained the situation and handed Jiang Wanyu her phone so she could see for herself.
Jiang Wanyu took the phone, eager to find out how Ming Jiyue had gotten an industry girlfriend. She skimmed through the article, reading ten lines at a glance, and fell silent.
So, I’m the industry girlfriend.
Jiang Wanyu silently sheathed the metaphorical sword she had drawn.
Seeing her solemn expression, her colleague grew concerned. “Are you feeling unwell?”
Jiang Wanyu shook her head and returned the phone. “I’m fine.”
Gossip about the entertainment industry was always a hot topic. Several colleagues gathered, each chiming in with their own theories.
“Do you think this girlfriend is an insider or an outsider?”
“Definitely an insider. Teacher Ming has been filming almost non-stop for seven years. She barely has time for romance. Maybe she fell for a co-star recently—you know, ‘love blossomed on set’ kind of thing. Hehe.”
“I agree! Shi Miao is the most likely candidate. They’ve known each other for five years, worked on two projects together, and are super close. I’ve even shipped them myself sometimes. They’re probably together now—they’re such a perfect match!”
Jiang Wanyu had been listening quietly, with no intention of speaking. But when she heard this, a strange feeling stirred within her.
What’s wrong with five years? There’s someone here who’s known Ming Jiyue for over a decade and they haven’t said anything.
Though there was no concrete evidence, the person who mentioned “Shi Miao” spoke with the conviction of someone who had grasped the truth, and others began to chime in.
After listening for a while, Jiang Wanyu couldn’t resist interrupting as their excitement grew. “It might not be someone from the industry,” she suggested. “Maybe it’s someone outside the circle?”
“Outside the circle? Impossible.”
“Are you so sure?” Jiang Wanyu pressed.
The person raised three fingers, their eyes burning with conviction. “Based on my three years as a devoted fan, I just know it.”
Jiang Wanyu: Well, your three years of devoted fan intuition seems pretty off.
“To be honest, it might not even be real,” the “three-year devoted fan” continued earnestly. “It’s just a photo. What if it’s just a trick of the camera angle? Maybe that woman deliberately bought a trending topic, and later she’ll come out and claim she’s been having an affair with Teacher Ming.”
Jiang Wanyu: “…That’s a bit far-fetched, don’t you think?”
“How could it not be?” The “three-year veteran fan” spoke through gritted teeth. “Taking advantage of Teacher Ming’s indifference to these matters, she’s shamelessly chasing clout. I’ve seen this type before!”
Jiang Wanyu didn’t dare make a sound.
Even though it was clearly Ming Jiyue who had insisted on kissing her.
Someone else chimed in, “If Ming Jiyue noticed her, that girl must be exceptionally talented. They’d make a perfect match.”
Jiang Wanyu remained silent, a subtle curve tugging at the corner of her lips.
After chatting for a while, someone suddenly asked Jiang Wanyu, “Wanyu, who do you think it could be?”
Jiang Wanyu’s heart skipped a beat, nearly betraying her. Her gaze darted away. “If even you entertainment insiders can’t guess, how could I possibly know?”
A colleague pulled up the photo again, scrutinizing it closely.
“With her back to the camera, you can’t see anything.”
“Exactly! The angle is perfect—Ming Jiyue is crystal clear, but the person in front of her shows no face at all.”
While everyone else lamented the lack of clues, Jiang Wanyu secretly rejoiced.
Thank goodness you can’t tell.
What started as casual browsing took a turn when the person looking at the photo’s gaze drifted to Jiang Wanyu. A sudden realization sparked, and they exclaimed excitedly, “Oh my god, look what I just noticed!”
Jiang Wanyu’s eyelid twitched, a bad feeling creeping over her.
“That person’s silhouette kind of resembles Wanyu’s. Wanyu, didn’t you wear a similar outfit before? What did that one look like again?”
“Hey, now that you mention it, it does look a bit like her… I think Wanyu was wearing white on her first day here too?”
Jiang Wanyu: ……
Sweat threatened to break out. It’s not me! It has nothing to do with me! Stop guessing!
She surreptitiously wiped her brow and quickly distanced herself from the topic. “It’s just a silhouette. Maybe their figures are similar.”
Afraid of being discovered, she added, “Don’t overthink it. Ming Jiyue must live in a high-end neighborhood—somewhere I could never afford.”
“You’re right,” a colleague sighed. “Wait a minute… how did you know it was taken in a residential area?”
“…The background looked like one. I just guessed.”
Cutting off further questions, she declared, “If Ming Jiyue were really dating someone, she’d announce it officially. Stop speculating!”
Having narrowly escaped disaster, Jiang Wanyu vowed never to discuss Ming Jiyue with anyone again. One slip of the tongue could expose her secret.
After gossiping, Jiang Wanyu returned to her workstation and resumed studying the blueprints.
Her phone vibrated. Having just finished discussing Ming Jiyue’s gossip, a WeChat message from the woman herself arrived.
Unable to accompany Jiang Wanyu to work and bored at home, Ming Jiyue had messaged her.
Yueyue: I’m so bored! Without you, there’s no one to chat with. I have to bother you online now.
Jiang: I’m busy with work. Stop messaging me so much.
Yueyue: I’ll say what I want. Just reply when you see it.
Jiang Wanyu didn’t explicitly agree, but for the next half-hour, she immediately checked her phone every time it buzzed.
Work updates, task handoffs, news notifications…
On her fifth check, she picked up her phone only to put it down again. The chat with “Yueyue” remained silent.
Jiang Wanyu silently gulped down half a cup of water. You said you wanted to talk. Where are you?
Her phone vibrated again. After five false alarms, Jiang Wanyu picked it up for the sixth time.
Jiang Wanyu’s brow relaxed. Her fingers hovered over the screen, hesitating before replying.
I’m supposed to be working diligently, not glued to my phone. How can I reply instantly?
The renowned designer Jiang circled her desk to stretch her stiff neck, then picked up her phone again.
The digital clock jumped forward by one minute.
Jiang Wanyu frowned. Why is time moving so slowly?
She went to the break room for water and endured another three minutes before checking her phone again.
Four minutes. One minute longer than expected.
Hmm, that’s good enough.
Jiang Wanyu typed a reply.
Ming Jiyue, completely unaware of her beloved wife’s scheming, replied instantly with disarming sincerity.
bYueyue/b: Waiting for you to come home for dinner~ Dinner’s already ready.
bYueyue/b: Remember to focus on work! I’ll text less so I don’t bother you.
Feeling a twinge of guilt, Jiang Wanyu quickly changed the subject.
bJiang/b: Did you make dinner?
bYueyue/b: Uh, I’ll be serving dinner. The housekeeper has already left.
Jiang Wanyu chuckled.
bJiang/b: Okay.
Sensing a hint of amusement beneath Jiang Wanyu’s composed reply, Ming Jiyue, unwilling to lose face, added another message.
bYueyue/b: I just don’t cook often. But I’m actually a really good cook!
bJiang/b: Your cooking is delicious?
bYueyue/b: LOL, I haven’t cooked in years. Didn’t you ever eat my cooking in college?
bYueyue/b: Who was the one always praising my food and fighting to finish every last bite?
Jiang: Hmm, Best Actress Ming is just too busy with work to cook.
Yueyue: Of course! My cooking skills are excellent. I’ll show you tomorrow.
Jiang Wanyu’s lips twitched, unpleasant memories resurfacing.
Jiang: You shouldn’t show off your cooking skills so casually. True masters don’t reveal their talents easily.
Yueyue: nsdd
Jiang Wanyu frowned slightly.
She wasn’t much of an internet surfer. Besides WeChat for messaging and work-related tasks, she mainly used her phone for news, weather updates, and occasionally watching movies or documentaries.
As a result, she wasn’t familiar with the latest internet slang.
Normally, she wouldn’t have cared. Her work chats with clients were always professional, and even casual conversations rarely involved internet jargon. It didn’t affect her work, so whether she understood it or not didn’t matter.
But now, it seemed like her communication with Ming Jiyue was being hindered.
This wasn’t the first time this had happened, but Jiang Wanyu had never mentioned it before.
She quietly opened Baidu and searched for the unfamiliar term.
笑亖.
What’s so funny?
Jiang Wanyu glanced at the chat box again. She didn’t recognize the characters.
Does Chinese even have this word? Is it some kind of symbol?
Jiang Wanyu remained skeptical.
She had no choice but to copy and paste.
After fiddling with it for a while, she finally figured it out.
It meant “laughing to death.”
Why not just type “laughing to death”?
Jiang Wanyu didn’t understand, but she respected the trendy culture of young people.
Next, she searched for “nsdd.”
Clearly, this wasn’t an English word.
Was it an abbreviation? Or a brand name?
As soon as “nsdd” was typed into the search bar, Ming Jiyue’s message arrived.
bYueyue/b: Why did you suddenly disappear again? Did your colleagues need you?
bJiang/b: I’m not familiar with these terms you’re using. I’m looking them up now.
bYueyue/b: Huh? What did I say?
bJiang/b: 笑亖, nsdd—I don’t really understand them.
bJiang/b: Also, I didn’t disappear. I’ve been in the office the whole time. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be chatting with you. If anything ever happens to me, you’re my emergency contact.
A moment of silence on the other end, followed by an eruption of laughter.
Then, patiently, Ming Jiyue explained:  笑亖 means “laughing to death,” and nsdd means “you’re right.”
bYueyue/b: Oh, and by the way, you’re my emergency contact too. (rose emoji)
Judging by the sheer density of “Ha”s in the chat box, Ming Jiyue was likely laughing so hard she was practically falling off the sofa.
She probably dropped her snacks from laughing too much.
bYueyue/b: Xiao Yu, has anyone ever told you you have a kind of deadpan humor?
bYueyue/b: What have you been up to all these years? You weren’t like this before.
bJiang/b: Busy with my studies.
bJiang/b: Besides, I never paid attention to these things before.
bYueyue/b: Now you’re completely cut off from the world.
bYueyue/b: patting head.jpg
bYueyue/b: It’s okay, your big sister doesn’t mind. Searching yourself is such a hassle. Just ask me directly from now on—I know everything.
This was certainly convenient, though Jiang Wanyu felt a little embarrassed. Still, she agreed.
bJiang/b: Okay.
bYueyue/b: (OK)
bYueyue/b: What can you do about your own wife? Spoil her, of course! What, you think I’d leave her?jpg
bJiang/b: …Where did you get all these reaction images?
bYueyue/b: My teaching is really effective, huh? You already know what a reaction image is?
Jiang Wanyu didn’t want to engage with her.
 Jiang : I’m not a Yuanmou Man.
Since Ming Jiyue had brought it up, Jiang Wanyu wasted no time asking:
Jiang : Why do you say “笑亖” instead of just “笑滔?
Yueyue : What, Dr. Jiang doesn’t recognize this character?
Jiang : I’m a science student; my Chinese isn’t great.
Yueyue : Then how did you score 125 on the Chinese section of the college entrance exam?
Jiang : I just got lucky that time.
 Yueyue : Just luck?
What else could it be?
Jiang Wanyu paused, then couldn’t help but laugh. So that’s what she was waiting for.
Jiang : Someone taught me well.
Yueyue : Who? Tell me clearly.
Jiang Wanyu’s academic assistance had been genuine, and Jiang Wanyu’s attitude toward her had always been one of gratitude.
Jiang : It’s all thanks to Top Student Ming’s excellent teaching.
 Yueyue : Hmph.
Jiang Wanyu was a true science student. Though she consistently ranked first in her grade, her Chinese scores always seemed out of place on her report card.
Her Chinese teacher joked that anyone looking at her grades would think Chinese was graded out of 100.
As their homeroom teacher put it, “You used to trail the second-place student by thirty or forty points, but now it’s only ten.”
The second-place student must have been furious.
Looking back, they owed it all to their homeroom teacher.
If not for her, Ming Jiyue and Jiang Wanyu might have remained two parallel lines, forever running side by side without ever intersecting.
The online drama was still raging, and Ming Jiyue couldn’t possibly be unaware of it, yet she hadn’t mentioned a word about it to Jiang Wanyu.
Perhaps she assumed Jiang Wanyu didn’t know.
After a moment’s hesitation, Jiang Wanyu decided to bring it up herself.
Jiang: How’s the situation with your girlfriend in the industry being handled?
Yueyue: ! You know?
Jiang: Everyone at work is talking about it, so I found out.
Yueyue: I forgot you’re on 2G, but everyone around you is on 5G.
Yueyue: You’re not mad, are you?
Jiang: Mad? Why would I be mad?
Yueyue: That’s good. kissing emoji
Jiang: Be careful in the future. Don’t act like that in public.
Yueyue: Got it.
Yueyue: Not in public, but at home is okay.
Jiang Wanyu automatically skipped over that last comment.
Jiang:Â Speaking of which, if I hadn’t overheard their conversation, I wouldn’t have known you had so many “wives” in your circle.
Yueyue:Â ……
Yueyue:Â Those are all fake, just jokes. Don’t take them seriously.
Jiang:Â I’m not taking them seriously. Even though I’m the one who married you, I see you have a harem of three thousand beauties, and they all seem quite impressive. Maybe I should get to know them sometime.
Ming Jiyue nearly fell to her knees.
Yueyue:Â Bowing to my wife.jpg
Yueyue:Â How can you say you don’t care when you’re clearly bothered?
Jiang: I really don’t care. They’ve been guessing about your “girlfriend” in the industry—you seem to have quite the romantic reputation in that circle.
Yueyue:Â What?! Those are all fake! They don’t even rank! My only true love is you!
Jiang:Â Oh? Only one true love? How many mistresses, then?
Yueyue:Â Only you! No one else! White flagWhite flagWhite flag
Jiang:Â Is that so?
Ming Jiyue wasn’t one to back down easily. After being relentlessly questioned by Jiang Wanyu, she quickly realized she was on the defensive and immediately turned the tables.
Yueyue: What’s gotten into you? Why are you suddenly saying all this?
Jiang: You can ask me, but I can’t ask you?
Ming Jiyue refused to back down.
Yueyue: You can ask, but I can’t ask for a reason?
Cornered by the question, Jiang Wanyu’s mind raced, and she impulsively sent a message:
It’s simple. I just want to know who your wife really is.
As soon as she sent it, Jiang Wanyu immediately regretted it and frantically retracted the message.
She was too embarrassed to speak, and Ming Jiyue fell silent as well.
After a long pause, Jiang Wanyu finally dared to send another message, her heart pounding with unease: Â Did you see what I retracted?
Ming Jiyue replied instantly: Â No.
Jiang: Really? Weren’t you looking at your phone the whole time?
Yueyue: Really, I wasn’t. I just went to get a glass of water and missed it.
Jiang: Oh.
Jiang Wanyu was about to breathe a sigh of relief when Ming Jiyue sent another message:
Trust me, Xiao Yu. I absolutely did not see you send the message “I just want to know who your wife really is” (heart emoji)
