After the Flash Marriage, My Ex Who is a Movie Queen Keeps Flirting with Me - Chapter 9
The next day, Jiang Wanyu arrived at work on time. As soon as she entered the office, Duan Jin followed her in. After some small talk, she finally circled around to the main point, asking in a roundabout way, “Wanyu, did you ask?”
Jiang Wanyu paused, slightly confused. “Ask about what?”
The light in Duan Jin’s eyes slowly dimmed. She murmured, “The autograph, Wanyu. You didn’t forget, did you?”
Having worked late the previous night, Jiang Wanyu’s mind felt like mush, and she had completely forgotten about it.
Seeing Duan Jin’s hopeful expression, she quickly fabricated a lie. “I didn’t forget. I mentioned it to her as soon as I got home. She said she’d ask around, but it might take a few days to get an answer.”
Hope rekindled in Duan Jin’s eyes. “Great! Thank you so much, Sister-in-law. If you can get the autograph, I’ll treat you to dinner.”
She paused, then added, “And if Sister-in-law is willing, I’ll treat her too.”
“Don’t mention it. It’s no trouble at all,” Jiang Wanyu said with a smile. “But she doesn’t need to be included.”
“So mysterious! That just makes me even more curious.”
“You have no idea how hard it is to get Ming Jiyue’s autograph. I’ve been a fan for four years, entering every giveaway and contest without fail—and never winning. Attending offline events might improve my chances, but I never have the time.”
Jiang Wanyu, unfamiliar with such matters, was surprised. “Is it really that hard to get?”
“Absolutely! If I could get my idol’s autograph, or even meet her in person, I’d probably faint from happiness,” Duan Jin said, her face glowing with anticipation, as if she could already see that day when Ming Jiyue would wave to her from afar.
Jiang Wanyu barely restrained herself from telling Duan Jin that if she really wanted, she could get her a whole stack of signed photos to use as playing cards.
“You’ll get your chance,” she reassured her.
After work, still thinking about the autograph, Jiang Wanyu went straight to Ming Jiyue. “Would you mind signing a photo?”
Ming Jiyue raised an eyebrow. “What’s this? Finally realizing how great your wife is and becoming a fan?”
Jiang Wanyu paused for a moment. “A colleague of mine is a fan of yours. She asked me to get it for her.”
Ming Jiyue gasped dramatically. “You didn’t sell me out to your entire office, did you?”
Jiang Wanyu sighed helplessly. “If I had sold you out, would you still be sitting here so calmly?”
“We were chatting, and she guessed I was married. When she asked what my partner did, I said you were a director in the entertainment industry. Then she asked if I could get her an autograph.”
Ming Jiyue breathed a sigh of relief. “No problem. I’ll get it signed for her after dinner.”
Having successfully obtained the signed photo, Ming Jiyue recalled Duan Jin’s earlier remark that her autograph was hard to come by. Handing it over tomorrow would make it seem too easy. She decided to keep it in her bag for now and give it to her in a few days.
Afterward, Jiang Wanyu went back to work as usual, while Ming Jiyue continued her vacation, texting her wife frequently.
bYueyue/b: Could you bring back some fruit when you come home?
bJiang/b: Sure.
bYueyue/b: Xiao Yu is the best~ Mua~
Knowing Jiang Wanyu wasn’t familiar with internet slang, Ming Jiyue consciously tried to avoid using such terms in their conversations. But sometimes they still slipped out unconsciously.
Like now.
Jiang Wanyu asked about anything she didn’t understand right away.
bJiang/b: What does “mua~” mean?
Ming Jiyue was about to type a reply when an idea struck her. A mischievous smile crept across her lips, and the message she sent changed completely.
bYueyue/b: It’s a Japanese transliteration, meaning “goodbye.”
Jiang Wanyu remained skeptical.
bJiang/b: Really? But isn’t “goodbye” in Japanese “sayonara”?
bYueyue/b: Impressive! You even know “sayonara.”
bJiang/b: Don’t be biased against me. These are just old sayings from many years ago.
bYueyue/b: Okay, okay.
bYueyue/b: Here’s a newer way to say it: instead of “old sayings,” you can say “old memes.”
Then, Jiang, ever eager to learn, earnestly sought guidance from Teacher Ming, who never tired of teaching, and declared that she had understood.
bYueyue/b: Oh, by the way, in Japanese, “mua” is used to say goodbye to someone close, like a lover. It’s not for casual use, so be careful not to use it inappropriately and make a fool of yourself.
bJiang/b: Got it.
bJiang/b: I’m so glad I have you. I doubt I could have found such a clear explanation even with Baidu.
bYueyue/b: No problem. Just ask me about these things in the future. I’ll make sure you understand perfectly.
bYueyue/b: “Mua” is actually quite common. We can use it when we say goodbye from now on.
Jiang Wanyu felt that something was off, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
It’s just a goodbye, she thought. Ming Jiyue wouldn’t lie about something like this. So she agreed.
bJiang/b: Okay.
bYueyue/b: Great! Let’s try it out right now.
bYueyue/b: Remember to come home early tonight, mua~
Jiang: Okay, mua~
Jiang: Is that right?
Yueyue: Yes, yes, exactly! You’re learning so fast.
Yueyue: You’re practically a genius.jpg
Yueyue: Okay, I’m going to look at the script now. I’ll be waiting for you to come back~ muamua~
Jiang: I’m off to work now, muamua~
