- Chapter 2 - The Top Actress Slept with a Fan
Why had Qiao Jinyan suddenly come to her house? Was she planning to personally thank her now that they’d made it onto the trending list?
Before Luo Nianshu could react, two burly men rushed in from outside and carried her into the living room like she was a helpless little chicken.
“What are you doing?!”
Luo Nianshu kicked and struggled, but her petite frame was no match for the strength of the two men.
Qiao Jinyan strolled casually around her living room, then lightly kicked Luo Nianshu’s suitcase with her shoe.
“I asked you a question, Miss Luo. Where are you planning to go?”
“I have a flight tomorrow. To Canada.”
Her honesty made Qiao Jinyan pause for a moment.
“Didn’t Wang Xu tell you?” Luo Nianshu frowned slightly.
“Why would Wang Xu need to tell me anything?” Qiao Jinyan let out a cold laugh. “The two of you elope and still think to notify me of your escape route? Ridiculous.”
Luo Nianshu was confused. “Wasn’t it all just a setup?”
Qiao Jinyan looked even more confused. “Setup?”
The two locked eyes, both suspicious of the other.
Luo Nianshu: “…” Looks like the top actress really doesn’t know anything.
“Wait, let me call Wang Xu.”
She picked up her battered phone and dialed quickly. After a few rings, the call connected.
“Hello, Miss Luo. What can I do for you?” Wang Xu’s voice came through, light and cheerful.
“Wang Xu, tell me was that whole wedding interruption yesterday a planned act between you and Qiao Jinyan?”
“Yes.”
“You swear?”
“I swear.”
“Not a shred of falsehood?”
“Not a shred.”
“Then how come Qiao Jinyan is right next to me and looks completely clueless?”
There was a few seconds of silence, then the line abruptly disconnected just the beeping of a dead call left behind.
Luo Nianshu: “???”
“That bastard hung up on me!”
Now she was really screwed.
A wave of pressure surged through her head she was on the verge of collapsing.
So… she had interrupted the wedding of a top celebrity, live in front of the whole country? And the bride hadn’t known a thing?
“I…” Luo Nianshu turned to Qiao Jinyan, near tears. The actress sat, arms crossed, staring at her coldly.
“Wait, goddess, let me explain.” Luo Nianshu quickly offered a cup of tea with a flattering smile. “My job is to help people run away from their weddings. But I only take jobs when both the bride and groom are aware of it.”
“But I wasn’t aware. I was genuinely planning to get married yesterday,” Qiao Jinyan cut her off.
“I wasn’t finished don’t rush. Wang Xu told me it was all for show. He said you and he were faking a wedding to create a ‘wedding hijacking’ scandal to generate buzz and increase your public profiles. He said you were in on it. Even showed me a contract with your company’s stamp on it.”
“What contract? Let me see it.”
Luo Nianshu handed it over without hesitation, holding it above her head.
Qiao Jinyan skimmed it and frowned. “The stamp is fake. That’s not my company’s official seal.”
Luo Nianshu: “…”
She cursed Wang Xu a million times over in her heart.
With great difficulty, she suppressed her trembling body and forced a smile. “How about this, Miss Qiao I’ll give you all the money I earned from this job. Your team can use it to bury the scandal. We call it even, deal?”
“Your little paycheck won’t even cover my PR expenses,” Qiao Jinyan said, crossing her long legs elegantly. “And don’t call me ‘miss.’ I’m not that much older than you.”
But Luo Nianshu wasn’t really listening. Her gaze had already drifted to Qiao Jinyan’s perfect legs.
Damn, what a body.
Even as a woman, she found Qiao Jinyan stunning.
No wonder everyone adored her men and women alike.
“I’m talking to you.”
Qiao Jinyan frowned and tugged her skirt slightly when she noticed Luo Nianshu staring.
Luo Nianshu snapped out of it and rubbed her nose awkwardly. “So… how much do you want in compensation?”
Qiao Jinyan held up three fingers.
“Three million?” Luo Nianshu guessed.
Not ideal, but manageable.
Qiao Jinyan shook her head. “Thirty million.”
Luo Nianshu: “…”
“What, can’t afford it?” Qiao Jinyan said mockingly, widening her eyes.
Of course she knew the answer.
Luo Nianshu wanted to grind her teeth to dust.
Just one look at her modest apartment and you could tell she wasn’t rich.
Thirty million? If not for this job, even three hundred thousand would’ve been out of reach.
Still, she knew she was partially at fault, so she forced herself to stay calm.
“Miss Qiao, I really don’t have that kind of money. And I’m a victim here too. Could you cut me some slack…”
“Oh? You’re a victim?” Qiao Jinyan tilted her head thoughtfully.
Luo Nianshu nodded eagerly. “Exactly! Let’s go confront Wang Xu together!”
“But you still caused me harm,” Qiao Jinyan said firmly. “You helped make me a national laughingstock. That’s on you.”
She was unyielding. Luo Nianshu deflated, like a cat that had just lost a fight.
So much for her delicate online persona this real life Qiao Jinyan was aggressive and unforgiving.
“But, considering you’re just an ordinary person, I’ve thought of another way.”
Luo Nianshu’s eyes lit up.
Qiao Jinyan clapped her hands, and her manager, Molly, brought over a contract.
“It’s an assistant agreement. You’ll be my full time personal assistant. Duration? Until I say you’re done. During that time, you do everything I say. How’s that?”
Qiao Jinyan’s fox like eyes twinkled with mischief.
She clearly wanted revenge.
Luo Nianshu saw right through her. She wanted to refuse. She was proud, a legend in the runaway wedding biz.
“I…” She straightened up, about to say no.
Qiao Jinyan raised an eyebrow sharply.
“I agree.” Luo Nianshu caved instantly.
Luo Nianshu dragged her luggage into Qiao Jinyan’s house.
She should’ve been in Canada right now, basking in the sun and sipping beer. Instead, she was stuck being the devil’s assistant.
“You’ll stay in the guest room on the first floor. I’m on the third. I’ll contact you through the house phone,” Qiao Jinyan said, miming a call. “Remember come when I call, or else…”
“I get it, I get it.” Luo Nianshu nodded frantically.
“Hmm… I’ll just call you ‘Thirty Million’ from now on. It rolls off the tongue.” Qiao Jinyan smirked from the top of the staircase.
Luo Nianshu smiled through gritted teeth.
What a humiliation.
She, the daring, stylish runaway queen, reduced to this?
Patience. She needed patience.
“Of course, goddess.”
“I like that title,” Qiao Jinyan said smugly, lifting her skirt as she ascended the stairs.
Rich people lived differently.
The villa had three massive floors with ceilings five or six meters high. Outside was a lake and a forest—entirely private property.
Luo Nianshu sighed and began unpacking.
“Beep beep beep”
The room phone rang.
“Thirty Million Assistant, can you bring me my handbag from the first floor?”
Qiao Jinyan’s lazy voice came through.
Luo Nianshu rolled her eyes, muttered “fine,” and ran downstairs. She found the black bag and trudged back up to the third floor.
“Here’s your bag.”
“Thanks,” Qiao Jinyan smiled sweetly and started doing her makeup.
No other instructions? Luo Nianshu turned to leave.
But as soon as she reached her room, the phone rang again.
“Thirty Million Assistant, bring me my magazine from the bookshelf. First floor.”
Ten minutes later, Luo Nianshu returned, panting.
“Here.”
“You’re so thoughtful,” Qiao Jinyan said with fake gratitude.
“If you were really grateful, you’d stop making me run stairs.”
Moments later, the phone rang again.
“Bring me my slippers.”
Again.
“Bring me a cup of tea.”
Again.
“Clean the carpet.”
By the umpteenth call, Luo Nianshu finally snapped.
“What now?”
“Oh don’t be mad, Thirty Million Assistant,” Qiao Jinyan said while painting her nails. “This is the last one.”
Luo Nianshu gritted her teeth. “Say it.”
“Pass me the TV remote.”
“…Where is it?”
“Right next to me.”
Luo Nianshu: “…”
This damn fox.
With the remote in hand, Qiao Jinyan finally decided to give Luo Nianshu a break. She sprawled on her plush bed, legs in the air, scrolling through Weibo.
To her surprise, she was trending again.

Also, that girl is not a fan, and she is absolutely not my type. I’d never fall for someone like that.”
Satisfied, she locked her phone.
Sleep with someone like Luo Nianshu?
As if.
