- Chapter 15 - I Know, This Is All Part of Our Play
She took Lin Zhaoyue’s hand and gently shook it, her voice pleading:
“Zhaoyue, I don’t want to go to the hospital… I feel much better now, especially… after you kissed me.”
Pfft—cough, cough, cough!
Aunt Wang, who had been tiptoeing away in a strategic retreat, choked on her own saliva at these words, nearly fainting.
Kissed… kissed?!
Are they even pretending anymore?!
Lin Zhaoyue: “!!!”
“What nonsense are you talking about?!”
Both furious and mortified, she wished she could crawl into a crack in the floor and disappear.
Under Aunt Wang’s bizarre gaze—a mix of shock, understanding, and a hint of “I ship it”—Lin Zhaoyue felt her bl00d running cold and her scalp tingling.
“I’m not talking nonsense,” Shen Yuan said, her expression utterly innocent. She even lightly licked her lips with the tip of her tongue. “Zhaoyue’s taste… is very sweet.” She smacked her lips afterward, as if still savoring the memory.
Lin Zhaoyue: “……”
Aunt Wang: “……”
Aunt Wang’s pupils dilated in shock. She silently retreated, wondering if it was too late to pretend she was hard of hearing. This old woman’s heart can’t take this!
“Oh, I just remembered! I only picked up my granddaughter from school and forgot about my grandson at kindergarten. I’ll be going now…”
Aunt Wang, as if her feet had been greased, vanished down the hallway in an instant, terrified of hearing anything more scandalous.
Lin Zhaoyue watched Aunt Wang’s hasty retreat, her face flushing crimson one moment and paling the next, overwhelmed by shame and fury.
“Shen Yuan!”
If she let Shen Yuan continue spouting such nonsense, the entire household would soon believe they were having an affair!
Lin Zhaoyue grabbed Shen Yuan’s wrist and half-dragged her into her room.
“Get in here!”
Bang!
Lin Zhaoyue slammed the door shut, sealing them off from the outside world.
Leaning against the door, she gasped for breath, feeling as if she’d just fought a battle.
She finally lifted her gaze to survey her room—the first time she’d truly examined it since transmigrating.
The spacious chamber featured a walk-in closet and a massive antique wardrobe. The overall style was luxurious and modern, with floor-to-ceiling windows dominating one wall, offering a panoramic view of the city’s nightscape.
A thick cashmere carpet muffled every footstep. A king-size bed occupied the center of the room, draped in silk bedding that looked soft and inviting.
Well, if I’m going to enjoy the material comforts of a villainess, I might as well embrace the responsibilities that come with the role.
“Alright, we’re alone now.”
Lin Zhaoyue finally caught her breath, straightened her posture, and crossed her arms, striving to adopt an interrogative stance as she glared at Shen Yuan, who was inexplicably blushing.
“Tell me honestly, what exactly were those photos you mentioned?”
She had been suppressing this question the entire journey.
She vividly remembered how the original owner, in her cruelty, had forced Shen Yuan to keep photos and videos of her being bullied, under the pretense of “making you remember your place.”
Each of those images should have been Shen Yuan’s nightmare, enough to make her despise herself.
Logically, even with amnesia, seeing those photos should have awakened the memories of her past humiliation, triggering aversion and fear toward Lin Zhaoyue. How could Shen Yuan instead become even more clingy?
Shen Yuan blinked, a perfectly measured hint of shyness coloring her face. She lowered her head, her voice softening considerably.
“I saw… evidence of how close we used to be.”
“Close…? Those photos… those photos were clearly…”
Those photos were clearly evidence of my unilateral abuse!
Damn it, could the Female Lead be an M?
With that thought, everything suddenly made sense.
“What’s ‘Ming Ming’?” Shen Yuan asked, tilting her head and looking at Lin Zhaoyue with innocent eyes.
“Doesn’t it prove how deeply we love each other? Zhaoyue, you accused me of cheating and hurting you. I was so heartbroken and filled with guilt, I even started doubting if we had ever truly been together… But seeing those photos put my mind at ease.”
Lin Zhaoyue: “???”
Put your mind at ease??? Put your mind at ease my ass! What the hell could you possibly find reassuring in those bullying photos?!
“The photos! The photos on your phone! Show them to me!” Lin Zhaoyue gave up arguing and reached out her hand.
“Sure.”
Shen Yuan readily pulled out an old phone with a cracked screen from her pajama pocket. The phone looked completely out of place in the luxurious bedroom.
She swiped a few times and opened the photo album.
Lin Zhaoyue’s heart leaped into her throat as she stared nervously at the small screen.
She had steeled herself, prepared to see images that would enrage any normal person.
Then, Shen Yuan handed her the phone.
A photo was clearly displayed on the screen.
The scene appeared to be in a dimly lit room, possibly a hotel suite or a private room in an upscale club.
Lin Zhaoyue was dressed in an elegant short skirt, leaning languidly against a sofa with one leg gracefully crossed over the other. She wore black stockings and high-heeled shoes.
Shen Yuan was kneeling at her feet.
Her head was slightly bowed, her profile facing the camera, with a few strands of long hair falling across her cheek, obscuring her eyes.
Her lips were gently holding the edge of Lin Zhaoyue’s stocking just above the ankle, as if… using her mouth, little by little, to pull the black stocking down Lin Zhaoyue’s leg.
The photo’s angle was subtly suggestive, perfectly capturing Shen Yuan’s slightly parted lips, the smooth black fabric of the stocking, and Lin Zhaoyue’s exposed, shapely calf.
The entire image exuded an indescribable tension, a blend of humiliation and forbidden allure.
Lin Zhaoyue: “……”
Lin Zhaoyue felt a boom as all the bl00d rushed to her head.
She… she remembered!
It was indeed taken the night before the car accident, at a private club.
Shen Yuan spoke at the same time:
“And the photo was taken the night before my accident, which proves we were still very close before that…”
…That’s right.
The timing was too close; Lin Zhaoyue couldn’t even come up with a plausible excuse.
“…This photo isn’t what you think! I forced you to do it! It’s not evidence of a close relationship!”
Lin Zhaoyue pressed her forehead, unsure how to explain such a complex and twisted relationship to someone with amnesia.
…In the end, she herself had been too twisted back then!
Who bullies people like that?!
“Forced you?”
Shen Yuan shook her head, a knowing smile spreading across her face.
“I know. It was all part of our play.”
Lin Zhaoyue: “…?”
