Knowing that arguing with someone who insists on proving themselves right is futile, Lin Zhaoyue didn’t bother refuting Shen Jinbing’s words. Instead, she pressed on with her verbal assault:
“Of course I won’t go home. Wouldn’t that interfere with your ‘clients’? But you should take it easy. Wouldn’t want you shitting yourself in old age and getting slapped to death by a caregiver… Oh, wait, you don’t exactly look like you can afford one.”
“What?! You little brat, you…”
“You what? Do you have a Hui taboo stuck between your ears? Can’t you understand plain English? You could donate your brain to a hotpot restaurant for a ‘pig brain all-you-can-eat’ promotion.”
After another barrage: “…Shen Yuan, this is so weird. Shen Jinbing doesn’t even feel like a real person. Next time, feed him rat poison. If he dies, he’s just a rat.”
And yet another onslaught: “…Oh dear, time’s almost up. If we keep talking, you might go over your phone bill budget, haha.”
Lin Zhaoyue gave Shen Jinbing no chance to speak. After enduring 800 chapters of brain-dead plotlines, her pent-up frustration finally erupted. Her insults against this monstrous father flowed like an endless river, a torrent of scathing remarks that lasted five minutes straight with zero plagiarism.
System: I really want to live this savagely just once in my life.
Shen Jinbing finally got a chance to speak, though it was unclear what he could possibly say at this point.
“I… I won’t let you get away with this!” Shen Jinbing sputtered weakly.
Lin Zhaoyue chuckled coldly, her voice dripping with contempt. “Very well. I’ll be waiting. The Lin Group is always ready to receive you.”
With that, she slammed the phone down, feeling a long-suppressed anger finally dissipate, leaving her refreshed and invigorated.
Huff—
Satisfying!
She’d loathed that old bastard ever since reading the novel, but she never imagined she’d get to curse him out to his face!
Clap clap clap clap clap—!
A series of applause erupted.
Shanshan clapped while shaking her head, a maternal smile gracing her lips. “Ah, Yueyue, you’re just like that—righteous and quick-witted! Even when you despise someone, you can’t bear to see them bullied by others… Yueyue, I still haven’t fully grasped your way of navigating the world.”
Lin Zhaoyue: “…It’s nothing. I just never liked that old gambler anyway.”
Shanshan exclaimed, both shocked and impressed, “You don’t care about your own safety at all, Yueyue! What kind of person are you, really?”
Lin Zhaoyue: “……”
Stop praising me, please.
Her cheeks flushed crimson, Lin Zhaoyue turned to look at Shen Yuan, only to find her staring blankly.
“You… that…”
Shen Yuan opened her mouth, as if wanting to say something, but couldn’t find the right words.
Lin Zhaoyue glared at her impatiently and tossed her phone back. “What’s with you? You’re such an idiot, working so hard to earn money just to waste it on that trash. What, are you afraid his crimes will affect your civil service exam?”
Shen Yuan couldn’t help but laugh at Lin Zhaoyue’s indignant expression.
“Alright, I’ll listen to you,” Shen Yuan said, nodding obediently. “I won’t give him another penny.”
“Tch, give or don’t give, what do I care?” Lin Zhaoyue huffed, scrutinizing Shen Yuan. Apart from her still-pale complexion, she seemed to be in no serious condition.
Lin Zhaoyue glanced at the time—it was getting late. Time to prepare for the next part of the plan.
“Okay, you’re fine now. Hurry up and pack to get discharged. I should be going too.”
As Lin Zhaoyue turned to leave, Shen Yuan suddenly called out, “Wait!”
Lin Zhaoyue froze, turning back with a tense expression. “What is it now?”
Shen Yuan lowered her gaze, her long lashes casting shadows across her cheeks, making her look forlorn. “I… I have nowhere to go…”
Lin Zhaoyue suddenly remembered that she had indeed declared to Shen Jinbing, in an attempt to intimidate him, that Shen Yuan would never return home again.
Damn it.
Is the main heroine going to be homeless now?
But…
System:Â Host, you’re the villainess! The villainess! The villainess!
The System’s voice echoed in her mind like a lingering ghost.
System:Â Host, I’m actively working on getting the completion conditions modified. Until then, you must persevere!
System: Also, Host, the upcoming plot development is—the amnesiac main heroine will be taken back to the Lin Family by Lin Wangba for care, while the villainess Lin Zhaoyue will seize this opportunity to relentlessly bully her within the household.
Fine.
At least she could be certain the main heroine wouldn’t be homeless.
Lin Zhaoyue straightened her back.
“What does it have to do with me that you have nowhere to go? I’m not your mother!”
Shen Yuan lifted her head, gazing steadily at Lin Zhaoyue with eyes brimming with helplessness.
“But… aren’t you my fiancée?”
“……”
Lin Zhaoyue was speechless. She took a deep breath, struggling to suppress the urge to explode.
She finally understood: Shen Yuan’s pitiful act was likely at least partially deliberate.
This main heroine still has ulterior motives toward me!
“Shen Yuan, I’m saying this one last time: we’ve broken up!” Lin Zhaoyue said through gritted teeth. “Even if we hadn’t, I have no obligation to take you in! Go wherever you want, just stop bothering me!”
With that, Lin Zhaoyue stormed out of the hospital room without looking back, leaving Shen Yuan standing alone in the middle of the room.
Shanshan followed behind, shaking her head and clicking her tongue in disapproval.
“What are you looking at?” Lin Zhaoyue asked.
“Oh, nothing,” Shanshan replied. “I was just thinking, since she lost her memory and only recognizes you, her best friend can’t find her after the room change, she has no money, and now she’s fallen out with her only family… she’s basically doomed. Yueyue, your smooth combo moves are absolutely brilliant!”
Lin Zhaoyue paused, turned back, and glared at Shanshan.
“You’re not Shen Yuan’s spy, are you?”
Shanshan’s eyes widened.
“How could you think that, Yueyue? I’m just praising you!”
Lin Zhaoyue stared at her in silence.
Nice praise. Don’t do it again.
Shanshan’s words felt like tiny thorns, pricking Lin Zhaoyue’s heart with unease. She tugged at her hair in frustration and strode out without another word.
Setting aside her identity, bringing Shen Yuan back now would be no different from inviting a wolf into the house.
Though the plot had deviated somewhat, as the male lead of the original novel, Lin Wangba’s protagonist halo should still enable him to find Shen Yuan, right?
In any case, no matter how she looked at it, she shouldn’t meddle any further.
“Ahem…”
As they reached the parking lot, Lin Zhaoyue feigned a cough.
“I suddenly realized… if she just starves to death, that’s letting her off too easy. Besides, with her mind addled, she might start spouting nonsense about our relationship again…”
Shanshan froze for a moment, then gave her a knowing look.
“Ah, just as I suspected! Yueyue, you’re actually…”
System: Stare—Host, maintain your character!
Faced with the System’s warning, Lin Zhaoyue quickly waved her hands.
“No, no, you’ve misunderstood…”
“No, I absolutely haven’t misunderstood you! Do you think I don’t know what kind of person you are? You definitely want to take her back and then…”
Shanshan smirked mysteriously.
