The moment those cool, moist lips met hers, Lin Bie’s mind exploded like a thunderclap. Her brain went blank, and she froze, unable to react. The soft body in her arms, boneless like a snake, pressed against her, transferring water mouth to mouth.
Leng Jinxi wrapped herself around Lin Bie, one hand gripping her chin, the other shifting to her shoulder, completely relying on her for support, surrendering her weight and trust without reservation.
The damp fabric clinging to Lin Bie’s chest chilled her heart. The coolness seeped through the cloth, spreading from her chest to every nerve in her body. Her breath slowed. Every sense was drawn to the softness of those lips.
Leng Jinxi’s lips gently rubbed against hers, focused and careful, transferring the water little by little. The scent of camellias mixed with her shampoo filled Lin Bie’s nose, teasing the suppressed scent glands at her nape.
At some point, the hand that had been around her shoulder moved to the back of her neck. Pale fingers circled just shy of her scent gland, lightly tracing, teasing, and igniting a slow-burning fire wherever she touched.
Lin Bie was intoxicated by the rich camellia fragrance. As the water slowly entered her mouth, her consciousness began to blur. She opened her misty eyes and met Leng Jinxi’s gaze—eyes brimming with emotion.
Frowning slightly, she tried to push her away, but her strength had long since vanished.
Leng Jinxi’s pheromones were soothing yet insidious, unraveling Lin Bie’s rationality thread by thread.
All she could feel was the unbearable softness of Leng Jinxi’s body, like a boneless snake coiling around her. Damp strands of hair dripped water onto her clothes, soaking through the silk and staining Lin Bie’s outfit.
The pain and despair buried deep in Lin Bie’s mind were eased by the floral scent. The burning sensation at the back of her neck no longer felt uncomfortable. The woman before her felt like a benevolent goddess, kissing her lips tenderly.
The water was soon completely passed. Leng Jinxi began nibbling at Lin Bie’s lips, kissing her forehead, brows, nose, and then returning to her lips—savoring them like a piece of jelly she couldn’t bear to swallow.
Her kisses lured Lin Bie into her depths.
Their tongues intertwined, invading, conquering. Lin Bie raised her hand to grab the slender waist, pulling her down, flipping them over to reverse their positions.
“Mmm… ah…”
Clearly only one of them was drunk, yet even the sound of the rain outside felt drunk. The thunder softened, the rain tapping gently against the windows, as if unwilling to disturb the intimate moment unfolding within.
Her fingertips tingled as they brushed against the damp fabric. The body in her arms trembled under her touch.
The faint scent of alcohol on Leng Jinxi had been overtaken by the pleasant fragrance of her body wash. How could this woman be so good at picking toiletries? Everything she used matched Lin Bie’s taste perfectly. So perfectly that Lin Bie buried her face in her neck, taking in the scent deeply.
Her nose twitched. Lin Bie couldn’t help but nuzzle against Leng Jinxi’s hair, kissing her ear, gently biting her earlobe. Leng Jinxi giggled from the ticklish sensation, her melodious laugh sending tingles through Lin Bie’s ears. Lin Bie trailed kisses down her cheek. A thin strap slid off her shoulder, revealing porcelain skin glowing under the light. That glow spread into Lin Bie’s eyes, blooming into a deep red hue.
The Omega tilted her swan neck, lips parted, panting softly, unable to suppress the soft sounds slipping through her teeth.
Kisses rained down her neck, stopping just shy of the delicate, fragrant scent gland.
Leng Jinxi seemed to realize what was about to happen. Her body trembled, but she didn’t push Lin Bie away. Instead, she clutched Lin Bie’s open shirt tightly, holding on with uneasy strength. Her swan neck arched, exposing a generous expanse of skin.
“Crack!” A bolt of lightning flashed outside, its thunder crashing through the window into the room. At the same time, Lin Bie’s phone buzzed in her pocket, the sound slicing through her head like a blade.
The anticipated touch never fell on Leng Jinxi’s gland. Instead, Lin Bie placed a gentle kiss on the inhibitor patch covering it. Her head rested against Leng Jinxi’s shoulder, breathing heavily. Her chest rose and fell, but her eyes were clear—like the rain outside.
Just in time.
Thank god she hadn’t taken advantage of her.
The wet sensation still clung to her fingertips. Lin Bie’s hand stiffened as she pulled it back, her entire arm tingling.
The intimate atmosphere still lingered in the room. Sweat beaded on Lin Bie’s forehead. She sat up and looked at Leng Jinxi, who lay gasping in the soft bed. Her mouth went dry. She glanced at her for just a moment before quickly averting her gaze.
The bed had become a cloud. Leng Jinxi’s body sank into it, her dark hair splayed across the sheets like ink on a painting. She was the goddess within that scroll—every frown and smile pulling at Lin Bie’s soul.
Her eyes shimmered with moisture. Her cheeks were flushed. The long kiss had stolen her breath. Her pale skin glowed, dotted with damp bite marks. She looked at Lin Bie with confused eyes.
Why did you stop?
Lin Bie closed her eyes, calming her wildly beating heart. “I’m going to shower… you should, too,” she said. Then she remembered her still-numb fingers and shut her eyes in despair. “You should take care of yourself.”
She stood, pulling her shirt closed, rubbing her scented, dizzy head, and fled the room.
The room fell silent, save for the returning roar of thunder and rain. Leng Jinxi sat up—rainwater soaking into her skin at the slightest movement.
She paused. The sticky sensation wrapped around her. Frowning, she stared at the closed door, her emotions churning.
Is my body that unappealing to her?
Leng Jinxi stood slowly, her drenched body weak. Her nightdress clung to her skin, soaked and muddy. Water streamed down her calves, dripping onto the floor. She gritted her teeth, her drunken gaze now replaced with stormy fury. She tried to clench her fists, but her strength was gone.
She was so far gone… and yet Lin Bie didn’t respond.
If they hadn’t already done it once, she might’ve thought Lin Bie was impotent.
She turned to the bathroom to clean up, her heart as chaotic as the storm outside.
Meanwhile, Lin Bie, though appearing calm as she shut the door, collapsed to the floor the moment it clicked shut. Her legs gave out.
The burning sensation on her neck continued to torment her. Lin Bie curled up, head resting on her knees, clutching her hair like a madwoman.
Leng Jinxi was drunk. She didn’t know what she was doing. She was just following Omega instincts, looking for relief. But I’m sober. What the hell was I doing?!
Taking advantage of someone vulnerable—disgusting!
She slapped the hand that had touched Leng Jinxi’s skin, again and again, until it turned red.
She was doomed. If Leng Jinxi remembered this tomorrow, her reputation would be ruined. She will definitely hold a grudge.
Thinking about all the effort she’d put into building trust only to destroy it in one night, Lin Bie wanted to smash her head into the wall. It never even occurred to her that Leng Jinxi might have done it willingly.
From her perspective, their relationship had been icy since that incident. Tonight’s odd behavior must’ve been caused by the alcohol. That was the only explanation.
It had to be the alcohol.
She berated herself for several minutes before finally getting up and heading to the downstairs bathroom. Leng Jinxi’s intoxicating scent still clung to her skin. She was drenched in sweat, her clothes sticky and unbearable.
After a hurried shower, just as she was about to dry off, she remembered someone had messaged her earlier.
She pulled her phone from her pocket. It was a message from Leng Wenxia.
Leng Wenxia: “Earlier you said my sister might be upset because of someone around her. I think I figured it out—it’s probably my dad and Leng Xi. Since you’re marrying my sister anyway, I thought you should know.”
Leng Wenxia: “My sister and I jointly own 40% of the Leng Corporation’s shares. Our mother left them to us before she passed away. Ever since Leng Xi entered the company, our dad has been subtly pressuring us to give him our shares. Of course, we refused. I went abroad, and my sister moved out.”
Leng Wenxia: “Our dad eventually sidelined us. We have shares but no roles. He used to bring it up only during family gatherings, but lately, he has been calling almost daily—playing the victim while trying to guilt me into giving up the shares. Luckily, I’m smart. I told him if he’s struggling, I’ll just become chairwoman. That shut him up real quick, haha—oops, got sidetracked.”
Leng Wenxia: “I think he’s doing the same to my sister. Some of the board members said our dad wants to promote Leng Xi, but he’s being blocked—probably by someone using their shares against him. And Leng Corporation’s recent projects haven’t been going well either. He’s desperate, so he’s probably pressuring my sister.”
Leng Wenxia: “That’s all I know. Don’t tell my sister I told you. I’m going to cuddle Xiao Guai and sleep now. (Xiao Guai grinning emoji)”
Lin Bie read the messages several times. Her expression turned cold. Leng Wenxia had spelled it out: Leng Xiuming wanted Leng Jinxi to transfer her shares to Leng Xi. He’d probably been manipulating and pressuring her, pushing her into an emotional spiral.
Lin Bie trembled with rage. Leng Xiuming, that damn relic! Why hadn’t some Taoist priest exorcised his Qing Dynasty vampire ass already? Leng Xi? That illegitimate brat should never inherit the company.
Disgusting.
She sneezed as a cold breeze hit her—realizing she’d been standing naked in the bathroom for fifteen minutes, skin now dry.
She quickly dressed and stood in the living room, staring at the closed door upstairs, her expression unreadable.
So that’s why Leng Jinxi shut herself off again—manipulated, pressured, made to feel inferior. She was distancing herself from everyone.
That’s how villains are: never shown love, they learn not to believe in it. They mistrust everyone. At the first sign of pain, they shut down, hiding all their emotions. Only when drunk do they reveal their true selves.
All those sharp edges were a disguise. She wasn’t cold—she was lonely, hurting, desperate for someone.
Lin Bie suddenly felt ashamed. While Leng Jinxi was going through all this, she’d been sulking over unanswered messages. In comparison, her own frustration was childish.
She looked at the closed door again, clenched her fists, and started up the stairs.
