After the Scumbag Alpha Heard her Inner Thoughts (GL) - Chapter 17
Su Wanqing didn’t know whether it was because Chu Muqing’s pheromones were too strong this time, or if it was simply because she had been marked too often.
Either way, this time felt different.
After the marking, her entire body was sore and weak, completely devoid of strength.
She let Chu Muqing carry her into the bedroom without resistance.
Chu Muqing gently placed her down on the bed.
Before she could even say anything, faint muttering reached her ears—soft complaints whispered almost unconsciously.
Chu Muqing had long grown used to Su Wanqing’s muttering after being marked, but the content this time made her want to laugh.
[My neck hurts a little. Is she part dog or something?]
[I can’t go on like this.]
[One day she’s going to completely devour me. I’m so thirsty… I didn’t even get a sip of water at the restaurant. But I don’t want to move either. Could I ask Chu Muqing to get me some water?]
As she stared at the girl lying on the bed, her expression dark as a thundercloud, Su Wanqing continued to grumble in her head:
[Forget it. There probably isn’t a soul in this world who can boss Chu Muqing around.
Or, if there was, the grass on their grave is already as tall as I am.]
“I’ll get you some water. Sit tight,” Chu Muqing said lightly.
Su Wanqing: “……”
She had just been internally complaining—yet Chu Muqing said exactly what she had wished for.
Su Wanqing felt a small flicker of guilt… only a tiny bit.
She swung her legs idly, watching the doorway, waiting.
Before she realized it, she had fallen asleep.
Chu Muqing wasn’t gone long—she only boiled some water and rinsed a cup, taking less than five minutes.
When she returned, she found Su Wanqing already asleep.
Her gaze softened.
Su Wanqing slept peacefully, her hands folded near her pillow.
A few strands of hair had slipped across her face.
Her lashes cast gentle shadows, her cheeks were flushed with a healthy pink, and her breathing was even and calm.
The scent of their intertwined pheromones still lingered faintly in the air.
Chu Muqing quietly set the water on the bedside table and carefully pulled the blanket up over Su Wanqing.
Afterward, she left the bedroom and walked out to the balcony.
The balcony was silent.
Beyond the tall buildings, the setting sun scattered golden light through the gaps between the skyscrapers.
Chu Muqing pulled out her phone and dialed Xu Chengke.
Ever since returning from abroad, Xu Chengke had sensed that Chu Muqing was finally beginning to move forward with her plans.
He kept his phone on him at all times, ensuring that he could execute every one of her orders without delay.
The call connected quickly.
Gazing at the far horizon, Chu Muqing asked,
“How’s it going?”
“Just as you predicted,” Xu Chengke answered.
“Gu Heng has teamed up with others to start acquiring Chu family shares.”
“Good,” Chu Muqing said.
“Quietly start selling off my shares.
Make sure their holdings surpass mine.”
“Should we notify the Lu family?”
“No need.”
After a short pause, Xu Chengke added carefully,
“Boss, the Su family’s causing a stir. Should we just ignore them?”
“Mhm,” Chu Muqing answered with a slight nod.
After hanging up, she stood silently on the balcony for a while longer.
When she finally went back into the bedroom, Su Wanqing was sleeping even more soundly than before.
By all logic, in such an unfamiliar environment, she shouldn’t have been able to sleep this deeply.
Chu Muqing thought for a moment, then pulled out her phone and switched numbers.
She called Cheng Zhuo.
“Cheng Zhuo, something’s off after this marking,” she said calmly.
“She’s… not quite right.”
“Oh~” Cheng Zhuo chuckled, clearly enjoying the gossip.
“What’s wrong with her?”
“She’s… a bit excessively sleepy,” Chu Muqing said truthfully.
“Ah, that’s normal. She might also become a little clingy,” Cheng Zhuo said, sounding quite amused.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean she’ll probably stick close to you, craving your pheromones,” Cheng Zhuo explained.
“For example, she might get a bit emotionally sensitive—maybe even cry more easily.
But considering how highly compatible your pheromones are, that probably won’t be too bad.”
“She…” Chu Muqing hesitated, thinking that things might get busy soon with her plans and she might not have much time to spare.
She asked, “How long will this last?”
“It’ll go away after a lifetime mark,” Cheng Zhuo replied casually.
“But… are you even physically ready for that?”
Chu Muqing’s gland problem still hadn’t been fully resolved—so probably not.
“You can shut up now,” Chu Muqing warned coldly.
Now was hardly the time to think about such things.
After ending the call, she went to her study, busy handling emails and booking her surgery appointment.
She had no idea how late it got.
Outside the study, faint shuffling sounds broke the quiet.
Stretching her arms, Chu Muqing got up and pushed open the door—only to see Su Wanqing sneaking around the kitchen door.
“I’m hungry,” Su Wanqing said, pouting as she leaned against the wall.
“Is there anything to eat? Your fridge looks like it got robbed. It’s completely empty.”
“I’ll have something delivered,” Chu Muqing said, pulling out her phone.
“Anything you don’t eat?”
Su Wanqing shook her head.
Glancing at the clock on the wall, she noticed it was just past nine.
In the living room, only a single soft lamp was on, casting a warm yellow glow over Chu Muqing.
Under the gentle light, the sharpness of Chu Muqing’s features seemed softened.
For a moment, Su Wanqing thought that Chu Muqing didn’t look so distant after all.
Before she even realized it, her legs had already carried her forward.
When she stopped in front of Chu Muqing, the latter asked,
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” Su Wanqing replied awkwardly, unable to voice the silly thought that had crossed her mind.
Silence followed.
At least, the silence was only on Su Wanqing’s side—Chu Muqing, meanwhile, was quietly observing her.
[What do I do? I want to cuddle her.]
[Her pheromones smell so good. I want to breathe them in forever.]
[Oh no, is this normal?]
[Sister, did you put something addictive in your pheromones? I feel so hot…]
Chu Muqing: “?”
Not knowing what else Su Wanqing’s imagination would come up with, Chu Muqing finally lost patience.
She bent down slightly, took Su Wanqing’s hand, and pulled her over, gently pushing her down onto the sofa.
“Sit here for a bit,” Chu Muqing said.
She casually released just the right amount of her pheromones into the air, then turned to pour her a glass of water.
Even the short walk from the kitchen back to the sofa left a trail of soft rose fragrance lingering in the air—an almost deliberate showiness.
But Su Wanqing had no mind to complain.
All she felt was comfort, like her whole body was recharging.
“Here.”
Chu Muqing handed her the glass of water.
Su Wanqing accepted the glass and gulped down half of it in one go.
Setting the cup on the small coffee table, she turned to look at Chu Muqing.
Her expression kept shifting—curiosity, fascination, wonder.
Su Wanqing had no idea this was the natural attraction between an Alpha and Omega—especially with their pheromone compatibility being so high.
Chu Muqing caught a glimpse of her through her peripheral vision.
Su Wanqing’s emotions were written all over her face.
Thinking about what Cheng Zhuo had said on the phone, Chu Muqing unconsciously softened her normally cold demeanor just a little.
With various factors combined, the two of them actually sat quietly together in the same space without any awkwardness.
[Did the sun rise in the west today?
Chu Muqing actually poured me a glass of water.]
[The “heartless Alpha” persona is crumbling.]
[Her pheromones smell so good.]
[And… she’s really, really beautiful.]
Chu Muqing: “……”
“Looked enough yet?” Chu Muqing asked lazily.
Su Wanqing lowered her head guiltily.
“I was just…”
She hadn’t even come up with an excuse when the doorbell rang, and Chu Muqing’s phone buzzed twice.
“Dinner’s here. I’ll get it,” Chu Muqing said, standing up and heading toward the door.
Su Wanqing slapped her cheeks lightly, trying to snap herself out of it.
Calm down. Calm down.
How could you start crushing like a fool? And over the ‘cold-hearted Alpha’ no less.
This was the same “killer Alpha” who supposedly didn’t even blink while ruining others.
She couldn’t forget the plot just because of one glass of water!
Despite all that mental preparation, when Chu Muqing returned carrying dinner, Su Wanqing realized she had absolutely zero resistance.
“Come on. Wash your hands before you eat,” Chu Muqing said.
Already starving, Su Wanqing immediately forgot everything else.
She scurried off to wash her hands and then obediently sat down at the dining table.
Her eyes naturally drifted to Chu Muqing’s hands as she unpacked the takeout bags.
Before, she had been too intimidated by Chu Muqing’s cold face to notice, but now…
she realized that Chu Muqing’s hands were incredibly beautiful—long, slender fingers, delicate and fair with a faint rosy hue, yet clearly defined joints.
[Those hands are really beautiful.]
Chu Muqing froze for a split second while unpacking, then clicked her tongue softly in her mind.
Just keep thinking that way.
