After the Scumbag Alpha Heard her Inner Thoughts (GL) - Chapter 25
Counting carefully, it had only been about ten days since Chu Muqing left. Northern City hadn’t changed at all — the time was so short that Sun Xiaoxiao hadn’t even had the chance to make a real move against her.
Lanqing’s spring collection launched smoothly, and the dividends grew several times over. Summer was the most important season of the year, but they still had no real plans yet.
Back then, it had only taken one sentence from Chu Muqing to make Su Wanqing Lanqing’s head designer. Other departments had plenty of people, but in the design department, it was just Su Wanqing and one young assistant.
There was no time to hire new designers now. Su Wanqing stayed up for several nights drawing drafts, but each one turned out worse than the last.
Design wasn’t just about skill — it needed inspiration too. Her technical ability hadn’t slipped, but she had absolutely no inspiration left.
Every time she paused for a moment, her mind would wander uncontrollably to Chu Muqing. During this time, Su Wanqing didn’t reach out to her, and Chu Muqing didn’t contact her either. It was as if, after leaving the country, Chu Muqing had completely disappeared.
The only message came once, from Xu Chengke, simply to say they had arrived safely. After that — nothing.
Feeling something was wrong, Su Wanqing asked Cheng Zhuo for advice.
Cheng Zhuo explained: because they had marked each other so many times, their pheromones had grown familiar. When an Alpha was absent, an Omega would feel a sense of emptiness.
It was a normal physical reaction — an Omega’s dependency on their Alpha. At the same time, the Alpha would become dependent too: they would grow irritable, lose control, and crave marking and possessing their Omega.
Cheng Zhuo had warned Chu Muqing before: her glands couldn’t handle too much stress. The best solution was either to have surgery or to permanently bond with an Omega whose compatibility was high enough.
Looking at it now, it seemed Chu Muqing had chosen the first option.
From the outside, Cheng Zhuo could see things clearly. But clarity didn’t make it any easier.
When he saw Su Wanqing’s message, his feelings were complicated. There wasn’t a perfect answer to give.
Still, as a doctor, he stuck to his principles. He carefully explained to Su Wanqing the precautions and possible side effects of the surgery.
Su Wanqing stayed firm in her decision. She scheduled the procedure for a time when Cheng Zhuo would be free.
After arranging Lanqing’s work, Su Wanqing headed to the hospital.
Going to the hospital was nothing new for her — but this time, it felt different.
When Su Wanqing arrived, Cheng Zhuo was sitting at his desk, filling out medical records.
Seeing her come in, he immediately stopped what he was doing.
“Have you made up your mind?” he asked.
“You’ve asked me that about eight hundred times in the last three days,” Su Wanqing said with a laugh as she sat down across from him, in the chair meant for patients. “I know you’re just afraid I’ll regret it.”
“I won’t lie,” Su Wanqing admitted quickly — so quickly that Cheng Zhuo didn’t even have time to react. “I like her.”
Cheng Zhuo let out a surprised “Ah?” — even more confused than before.
“Then why are you doing this?”
“I’m realistic,” Su Wanqing said calmly. “I can’t live on memories alone. I need to keep my head clear so I can work.”
“I know that her leaving the country wasn’t as simple as it looked. Whether she’s starting over abroad or just running away…”
“If she ever comes back, Northern City needs to have a place she can return to,” Su Wanqing said, her mind crystal clear. “I want Lanqing to become her support — whether it takes three years, five years, or even longer.”
Cheng Zhuo looked at her and said, “You’ve thought it through more than I expected.”
Cleansing a temporary mark was far less painful than a permanent mark.
It was considered a minor surgery, and it would be over in half an hour.
After the surgery, unless she physically came into contact with Chu Muqing, Su Wanqing’s body would no longer remember the feeling of that rose-scented pheromone.
Cheng Zhuo had almost finished all the pre-surgery preparations — all that was left was for Su Wanqing to lie down.
Hearing her calm explanation, he accepted her decision.
“Go to the nurse station,” he said. “Someone will come take you to the prep room. I’ll go change into scrubs.”
Cheng Zhuo headed toward the operating room.
Just as he finished changing, a nurse rushed over, flustered.
“Dr. Cheng! Dr. Cheng!” she called urgently.
Cheng Zhuo froze for a second when he saw who it was.
“Aren’t you from the obstetrics department?”
“Dr. Cheng, it’s Miss Lu — something happened!”
“What happened?” Hearing Lu Qinghe’s name, Cheng Zhuo’s heart skipped a beat. “What’s wrong with her?”
“There was a pile-up — a chain car accident. Miss Lu’s in the emergency room now. Director Li asked you to come over immediately.”
“I’m coming.”
Cheng Zhuo hurried upstairs. When he spotted Su Wanqing, he quickly said, “Miss Su, Qinghe’s been in an accident. We’ll have to reschedule the surgery.”
