After the Scumbag Alpha Heard her Inner Thoughts (GL) - Chapter 28
The hand that had just lifted weakly fell back onto the bed, like a machine running out of power.
Chu Muqing blinked—
The person before her didn’t vanish.
This wasn’t a dream!
“You’re awake?”
Su Wanqing bent down, her face close to Chu Muqing’s, and whispered the question softly.
Chu Muqing wanted to turn her head to get a better look at Su Wanqing, but her body was still too weak to move.
She could only respond with a faint nod.
Chu Muqing parted her lips slightly, her voice as light as a breath,
“Why are you here?”
It would have been better if she hadn’t asked.
Hearing this, Su Wanqing’s anger, which she had been suppressing, instantly flared up.
“If I hadn’t asked Xu Chengke, when exactly were you planning to tell me?” she demanded.
Chu Muqing fell silent.
She wasn’t good at talking about her own illnesses.
In her mind, admitting she was sick felt like exposing her weakness—something that completely clashed with the way she had been taught to carry herself since childhood.
It wasn’t that she hadn’t thought about telling Su Wanqing about her surgery.
But every time the thought surfaced, it stirred such intense discomfort that it felt like she was violating some unspoken natural law.
“I didn’t expect it would turn out like this,” Chu Muqing confessed.
Her voice was barely audible, so faint and weak that it sounded like she might need emergency resuscitation at any moment.
Xu Chengke had said she could only stay conscious for a few minutes at a time.
Su Wanqing didn’t want to waste what little time they had left on blame.
“How are you feeling now?”
Su Wanqing leaned closer, speaking softly.
“Any better?”
Chu Muqing gave a slight nod.
“Assistant Xu asked the doctor already,” Su Wanqing said.
“They kept the gland you used the most, so my pheromones are compatible and might help you recover.”
“But we don’t know exactly how effective it’ll be. If it works well, the doctor said you could be out of bed in three days.”
Su Wanqing’s tone was almost like coaxing a child, speaking cheerfully as if she were proudly announcing a victory.
As she spoke, she began releasing her pheromones—but cautiously, not too much at once.
After all, Chu Muqing was still a patient.
Su Wanqing fiddled with the wristband she was wearing—something the doctor had given her.
It was quite high-tech, and it had taken her nearly an hour to figure it out.
The wristband could monitor the user’s pheromone concentration, alert them during heat periods, and even control the concentration of pheromone release.
Su Wanqing, now familiar with its operation, adjusted her own pheromones to a Level Two release setting.
Then, she settled down beside Chu Muqing’s bed.
The scent of atami flowers, with Su Wanqing as its center, slowly spread throughout the hospital room.
Chu Muqing frowned slightly but quietly closed her eyes.
Seeing this, Su Wanqing tilted her head and murmured,
“Huh? Fell asleep so fast?”
It seemed Xu Chengke hadn’t been exaggerating—
Chu Muqing really could only stay awake for a few minutes.
Su Wanqing sat beside her, watching.
It was rare to see Chu Muqing so quiet, without a trace of resistance.
But as she kept watching, she noticed Chu Muqing’s eyelids twitching, her brow furrowing even tighter than before.
She didn’t look like she was simply asleep.
Beads of sweat began to form on her forehead, and an unnatural flush colored her cheeks.
Something… didn’t seem right.
Su Wanqing panicked a little.
“Chu Muqing? Should I call the doctor?”
The moment she said that, Chu Muqing abruptly opened her eyes.
Just from that one sentence, her body jolted as if she was about to perform a medical miracle.
Su Wanqing stared at her, puzzled.
Despite clearly looking uncomfortable, why was she shaking her head so frantically?
Worried that Chu Muqing was forcing herself to endure, Su Wanqing immediately turned off her wristband.
“I’m getting the doctor.”
Chu Muqing could only watch, utterly defeated, as Su Wanqing ran out of the room, heels tapping urgently against the floor, heading straight for the doctors’ office.
Her mind went completely blank.
She lay there, staring at the ceiling, thinking grimly:
If life on Mars is possible, can I just leave now?
Su Wanqing’s English was decent, but there were many medical terms she couldn’t translate precisely.
Still, it was enough to call the doctor over to the room without issue.
When the doctor arrived, Chu Muqing’s expression shifted from utter despair to resigned revival.
She sucked in a breath, gathering what little strength she had, and told the doctor she was fine.
Completely fine.
The doctor checked the monitor beside her bed.
Chu Muqing had undergone a gland separation surgery, so her pheromone levels had to be monitored carefully.
Seeing the numbers on the screen, the doctor’s face changed dramatically.
He spoke a flurry of urgent English at Su Wanqing, then jabbed pointedly at her wristband.
At that moment, Xu Chengke returned with takeout meals in hand—
Just in time to overhear parts of the conversation.
His expression froze.
He hadn’t been gone that long… and Boss and Madam were already playing this hard?!
After rattling off the warning, the doctor left the room.
Su Wanqing and Xu Chengke stared at each other, both equally confused.
The doctor had spoken so fast that Su Wanqing hadn’t caught everything.
She shrugged helplessly.
“What’s going on?” she asked.
Xu Chengke’s face stiffened.
He set the meals down on a side table, then crooked his finger at Su Wanqing, signaling her to come closer.
Still baffled, Su Wanqing leaned in.
Xu Chengke lowered his voice and explained,
“Boss just had surgery. Her gland is still extremely fragile. What were you thinking, releasing that much pheromone?”
Xu Chengke didn’t even know how to put it delicately.
He waved his hands dramatically, struggling to find the right words.
“If her pheromone levels spike just a little higher, she’ll go straight into heat.
She’s lying there, completely immobile—
Were you planning to torture her?”
Su Wanqing: “…”
Su Wanqing had transmigrated into this ABO world from a normal world.
At first, she hadn’t been sensitive to these things.
Later, after learning more, she understood better—
An Omega releasing pheromones toward an Alpha like that… wasn’t that basically sexual harassment?
Her brain had short-circuited earlier, focused entirely on helping Chu Muqing recover as quickly as possible.
She hadn’t thought it through.
Now, listening to Xu Chengke’s explanation, realization hit her like a truck.
Her face flushed a deep red, burning hotly.
“But didn’t you say my pheromones would help?” she mumbled.
“You didn’t hear the second half of what I said?” Xu Chengke widened his eyes.
“You just need to stay nearby! An Alpha can sense you even without you actively releasing pheromones!”
The proximity would create a sense of safety for Chu Muqing, accelerating gland recovery naturally.
But with the pheromone concentration so high, given how fragile Chu Muqing’s glands were post-surgery, she simply couldn’t handle it.
“What do we do now?” Su Wanqing asked nervously.
“She’ll just have to endure it,” Xu Chengke sighed.
After all, right now, Boss wasn’t exactly in fighting form.
