After the Scumbag Alpha Heard her Inner Thoughts (GL) - Chapter 35
Su Wanqing felt that something wasn’t right.
She called the police first, carefully explaining the situation, then drove toward the factory herself. The GPS indicated it would take about three hours.
The factory was built in a remote rural area, and Su Wanqing had never been there before. She drove cautiously and finally arrived around one o’clock in the afternoon.
The “Yuan Yi” factory was located in a small village.
This village had once been famous for a traditional knitting craft, but after the craft was lost, the area gradually fell into decline. Eventually, someone converted the site into a tailoring factory, which later grew in size.
At the entrance of the village, two police cars were parked.
Su Wanqing approached. She had already contacted the police in advance, so no one stopped her.
“Qing-jie!” Ji Yu called out excitedly as she emerged from the crowd, running straight into Su Wanqing’s arms.
She was filthy — her clothes were covered in dirt, her hair was full of dried twigs, her face was smudged with dust, and her hands were scratched all over.
In one wild hug, Ji Yu had gotten Su Wanqing’s clothes just as dirty.
But Su Wanqing didn’t care about that. She grabbed Ji Yu’s wrist tightly and asked,
“What happened? Why do you look like this?”
“There’s something wrong with the factory,” Ji Yu said. “The person in charge isn’t the same one as before.”
“After we went viral on the trending search, they replaced him. The factory started rushing orders, but the products are all defective. One batch has already been shipped. What should we do?”
“We’ll deal with that later. How are you feeling?”
“I’m fine,” Ji Yu said, scratching her head with her claw-like dirty hands. “They didn’t hurt me — just locked me up in a woodshed.”
“They took my phone, so I couldn’t contact you. Luckily, I had the presence of mind to send you a message beforehand.”
“Presence of mind?” Su Wanqing gritted her teeth.
“What did I tell you when you messaged me? You’re a girl — you were supposed to find some people to go with you! What if they had…”
Killed her or done something even worse?
The world was full of dangers.
“I realized something was wrong and didn’t think there was time to wait,” Ji Yu admitted, a little guilty.
“I knew an Alpha who was nearby, so I called her for help.”
Without that Alpha’s help, Ji Yu might not have made it out.
The two of them had pried the door open together, and just as they escaped, they ran into the police entering the village.
The police let them talk for a moment, then came over to pull Ji Yu aside.
“Miss, if you’re alright, please come with us and give a full statement.”
Su Wanqing followed them.
“Officer, can we quickly go over the basics first? I’d like to take her to a hospital for a check-up.”
The officer thought for a moment, then agreed.
“Alright, but one of our colleagues will accompany you.”
Su Wanqing was too exhausted after driving for three hours, so she let the accompanying officer take the wheel and drive them to the nearest hospital.
Ji Yu kept protesting that she didn’t need it, but Su Wanqing ignored her completely.
Su Wanqing couldn’t even imagine — if something had actually happened to Ji Yu, what would she have done?
Every time Ji Yu tried to speak, Su Wanqing would glare at her.
In the end, Ji Yu could only awkwardly shut her mouth.
The car bumped along the rough dirt road of the village, but once they reached the highway, Ji Yu quickly fell asleep.
She had been awake the entire night before, planning her escape and working with the Alpha to break the lock.
By now, exhaustion completely overwhelmed her.
Knowing the police and Su Wanqing were now handling things, she couldn’t fight the sleepiness any longer and leaned against Su Wanqing, sleeping all the way to the hospital.
When it was time for the CT scan, Ji Yu lay down on the examination bed and refused to get up.
She pleaded with the nurse to let her sleep a little longer.
Su Wanqing had no choice but to drag her off and even took her to get a head scan just to be safe.
It took nearly two hours to complete the full-body checkup.
After that, Su Wanqing booked two rooms at a nearby hotel and settled Ji Yu in to sleep properly.
Then she went out to the mall nearby to buy Ji Yu a new phone.
Unfortunately, the SIM card needed Ji Yu’s ID to be replaced, so she had to wait for her to wake up.
When she returned to the hotel, several police officers were waiting downstairs.
Three officers stood together, whispering about something.
“Miss Su, this seems to be your friend’s phone,” one of them said, handing it to her.
Su Wanqing took it and asked, “How’s the situation?”
Su Wanqing still didn’t know the full story.
So far, all she knew was that something was wrong with the factory — they had shipped out a batch of clothing in violation of standards — and that Ji Yu had been locked up after trying to meet the person in charge.
But exactly what had happened, she still wasn’t sure.
“Miss Su, we’ve already taken the people involved back to the station,” one of the officers explained.
“We haven’t started questioning them yet. We just came by to return some belongings and give you a brief update.”
“Thank you for your help,” Su Wanqing said politely.
“No trouble at all. We’ll head back now. We’ll stay in touch by phone.”
Su Wanqing saw the officers out, then returned to her room.
She pulled out her laptop and made a call to the company’s sales department.
She instructed them to coordinate with the PR team to release a public announcement:
Customers who had bought the affected products could return them for a full refund and compensation.
It wasn’t the perfect solution.
The kind of customers who bought luxury items — even lesser-known brands endorsed by top celebrities — likely weren’t concerned about the cost.
Instead, this incident would leave a lasting impression: this brand has problems.
A brand’s reputation was far more fragile than the reputation of a single product.
But for now, there was no time to worry about long-term impact — they had to solve the immediate crisis first.
With the PR side handled, another big problem remained.
They couldn’t use that factory anymore.
Orders were piling up fast.
They urgently needed to find a new factory — one they could trust to start production immediately without any hidden issues.
This couldn’t be delayed.
The longer they waited, the worse the situation would become.
Su Wanqing didn’t want to rely on favors, but she had no choice now.
In Beicheng, she didn’t have enough personal connections to find a reliable factory quickly.
After thinking for a moment, she decided to call Cheng Zhuo.
Cheng Zhuo had already heard about the situation with Lanqing.
When he saw the company’s announcement, he had been about to call her.
But before he could, Chu Muqing had reached out first.
After discussing it, Chu Muqing had told him:
As long as the people are safe, let Su Wanqing handle the rest herself. If she can’t manage, she’ll reach out.
So Cheng Zhuo had been waiting.
When Su Wanqing’s call finally came through, he was a little surprised —
When had Chu Muqing become so good at reading her mind?
“What’s wrong?” Cheng Zhuo asked directly.
“I already know about the company’s situation. Just tell me — what do you need?”
He didn’t waste time with small talk.
“I need you to find two factories,” Su Wanqing said.
“They must be able to start production immediately, and both their quality and management need to be reliable.”
“Done. You can go sign the contracts tomorrow.”
Cheng Zhuo said it as easily as if it were nothing.
Hearing the problem being solved so quickly, Su Wanqing finally let out a long breath of relief.
But at the same time, she couldn’t help noticing the difference between herself and people like Cheng Zhuo.
What felt like the sky falling to her was something Cheng Zhuo could fix without breaking a sweat.
After hanging up, Su Wanqing asked her team to start drafting the contracts while she stayed up reviewing Lanqing’s other data reports.
Late into the night, she glanced at her phone.
Only then did she notice two unread messages from Chu Muqing — They had been sent two hours ago.
【Don’t worry, I’m here. 】
【Call me if you need anything. 】
Chu Muqing clearly knew she might not have time to reply, so she had kept the messages simple.
But even just a few words felt like a solid shield behind Su Wanqing’s back, quietly giving her strength and comfort.
Su Wanqing picked up her phone and replied:
【I’m fine. It’s already been handled.】
After sending the message, she began packing her things.
She wasn’t sure if Ji Yu had woken up yet.
Carrying her belongings quietly, she tiptoed to the room next door.
The bedroom door was slightly ajar, and through the crack, Su Wanqing could see Ji Yu still sleeping soundly on the bed, showing no signs of waking up.
Su Wanqing carried a blanket to the living room and slept on the sofa.
The couch was large enough that she had plenty of room and didn’t feel uncomfortable at all through the night.
Ji Yu finally woke up around ten the next morning, after sleeping for a full fifteen hours.
She was dazed, confused about what day it was.
Her body felt sore and weak all over.
It took her a full ten minutes of sitting on the bed to gather enough strength to get up.
Su Wanqing was still lying on the couch, half-asleep, not fully rested.
The moment Ji Yu saw her on the sofa, she let out a sharp scream:
“Qing-jie! Boss! Why are you sleeping out here?”
“I was worried you might wake up in the middle of the night and get scared if you didn’t see anyone,” Su Wanqing said calmly.
Ji Yu was only twenty-three.
After going through such a terrifying experience, Su Wanqing worried that she might wake up disoriented, not knowing where she was, and spiral into a panic.
Ji Yu laughed loudly and flopped onto the single armchair across from her.
“No way, I’m not that fragile! But thanks for coming all this way, Boss. I’ll be more careful next time!”
“But…” she quickly shifted the topic, frowning in concern, “…is the problem really solved?”
The company had just started gaining momentum — it couldn’t afford to fall apart now.
“It’s been basically dealt with as of yesterday,” Su Wanqing said.
Ji Yu looked thoughtful. “Don’t you think the whole thing feels a little too… coincidental?”
“If even you can sense something’s off, then of course there’s a problem,” Su Wanqing said.
“But there’s no rush. Let’s wait for the police investigation results.”
Ji Yu stretched lazily.
“Alright, I’m going to take a shower first. I still smell awful.”
“Go ahead. But don’t take too long — you haven’t eaten anything proper. I’ll order some food, and you can eat after your shower.”
“Okay!”
While Ji Yu went to shower, Su Wanqing checked the time.
Chu Muqing should be winding down for the night soon, given the time difference.
Without thinking too much, she called her over video.
Chu Muqing answered.
The screen wobbled for a moment before stabilizing.
Su Wanqing caught a glimpse of the background — it looked like a study.
“You’re still working?” Su Wanqing asked.
“Mm-hmm,” Chu Muqing nodded, glancing at the screen briefly before turning back to her laptop.
“I’ve still got a bit left to finish.”
“What’s wrong?” Chu Muqing asked. “Running into problems?”
“No,” Su Wanqing shook her head.
Chu Muqing quickly finished typing on the keyboard, then picked up her phone and stood up.
Through the screen, she could clearly see Su Wanqing’s tired face.
Her skin was usually pale, but now dark circles were visible under her eyes. She looked completely exhausted.
Seeing her like this made Chu Muqing restless.
If she had known it would wear Su Wanqing down this much, she would have never given her that company in the first place.
A small company like Lanqing had turned her into this.
“I’m almost done here,” Chu Muqing said, calculating quickly.
“Probably another month, and I should be able to come back.”
“Okay,” Su Wanqing mumbled, her voice low and lacking energy.
She had just woken up and still wasn’t fully alert, and after everything that had happened, she was feeling drained.
“Chu Muqing,” she suddenly asked, “Lanqing is so small — just one project. But the Chu family has so many businesses.
How did you manage it?”
“Are you trying to pick my brain?” Chu Muqing raised an eyebrow, teasing.
She felt a little out of sync with Su Wanqing’s train of thought.
Her own company had just faced a crisis, and she still had the time to ask about management strategies?
“Yes,” Su Wanqing admitted, genuinely curious.
Lanqing’s biggest competitor was just Sun Xiaoxiao, a spoiled heiress with more enthusiasm than brains.
But the Chu family’s conglomerate had real heavyweights — the Gu family, and others too.
Managing all that meant handling both business negotiations and endless political scheming.
It had to be exhausting.
Before Chu Muqing could answer, another call came in.
“I need to take this,” Su Wanqing said, glancing at the incoming call — it was from the police.
She answered.
“Hello?”
“Miss Su, the case is pretty much wrapped up.
When would you be available to come by? We can go over the details with you.”
“Got it. We’ll head back this afternoon,” Su Wanqing replied.
