After the Scumbag Alpha Heard her Inner Thoughts (GL) - Chapter 4
Chu Muqing pinned Su Wanqing’s wrists above her head, staring into her eyes. Her eyelashes fluttered nervously, and she seemed a little afraid.
“What’s wrong?” Chu Muqing asked. “Now you’re scared?”
Su Wanqing kept her mouth shut, breathing lightly. Fear wasn’t the issue; she thought to herself, You talk a lot for someone in bed.
Chu Muqing gave a cold snort. This Omega was surprisingly interesting—daring to provoke her.
The bedroom lights were off, so Chu Muqing didn’t notice that when those words came out, Su Wanqing hadn’t even moved her lips.
Chu Muqing held down Su Wanqing’s wrists with one hand, while the other hand rested on her waist and slowly moved upward, her gaze fixed on Su Wanqing’s face.
At first, there was stubbornness in Su Wanqing’s eyes. Slowly, it turned into avoidance. Eventually, she shut her eyes, turned her head to the side, wearing the expression of one resigned to her fate.
Chu Muqing leaned closer to Su Wanqing’s gland. The gland, swollen from the influence of pheromones, responded the moment Chu Muqing’s lips brushed against it.
The fragile gland couldn’t withstand the heat; it felt like an electric shock. Su Wanqing’s mind went blank, and a soft whimper escaped her lips as her waist arched upward.
This wasn’t how the script had described it—wasn’t one bite supposed to be enough? This sensation… was difficult to put into words.
Chu Muqing opened her mouth, her canines piercing the gland. Slowly, she injected her pheromones—an ice-cold liquid, in stark contrast to their body heat—seeping into Su Wanqing’s veins and spreading through every nerve.
The scent of roses wrapped around her entire being, intertwining with her own pheromones. For a moment, Su Wanqing felt like her body no longer belonged to herself—it belonged to the person before her.
“Mm…” The sound that left Su Wanqing’s mouth didn’t even sound like her own. It was soft, almost coquettish. Her whole body went weak, drained of all strength.
Chu Muqing wasn’t completely lost to reason. The engagement between their families meant that this step was inevitable sooner or later. She had thought she could wait a little longer, but her body simply couldn’t hold out.
Ten minutes later, the temporary marking ended. Two clear bite marks remained on Su Wanqing’s gland, with a slight trace of bl00d oozing out. Chu Muqing’s eyes darkened.
She lowered her head and gently licked the marks.
“That’s enough.” Su Wanqing pushed against Chu Muqing’s chest, trying to move her away. “Are you done?”
“No. Want me to bite again?” Chu Muqing asked nonchalantly.
Those ten minutes had felt endlessly long for Su Wanqing. She wanted to push Chu Muqing away but was afraid of hurting her.
For Chu Muqing, it hadn’t been easy either. Their compatibility was too high; during Su Wanqing’s susceptibility period, the attraction was overwhelming. If it weren’t for a surgical procedure she had undergone, she might have completely lost control.
After the temporary marking, the pain that had gripped Chu Muqing’s entire body vanished. It felt even better than a heavy dose of suppressants. Chu Muqing wiped her lips and finally let go of her.
Su Wanqing rested for a moment, then said, “Since you’re better now, I’ll be leaving.”
Chu Muqing didn’t stop her. She watched as Su Wanqing fled her bedroom in a panic—whether real or an act, she wasn’t sure. She picked up her phone.
“Pick her up at the gate,” Chu Muqing ordered. “Wherever she wants to go, take her there.”
Xu Chengke listened on the other end of the line. Chu Muqing’s voice was low and firm, no longer weak like before. He wasn’t sure if she had taken suppressants or… something else.
Xu Chengke didn’t dare to ask.
“I marked her,” Chu Muqing said calmly.
Xu Chengke was stunned.
“Check if she contacts the Su family, and find out what she’s after.”
Appearing out of nowhere during this critical period, climbing into Chu Muqing’s bed on the very first night, offering herself up for marking—no normal Omega would act like that.
Chu Muqing needed to recover her strength—and figure out this woman’s true intentions.
“Yes, President Chu.”
After returning to the company, Chu Muqing convened a meeting. The matter of Yizhou needed a resolution.
Yizhou, located at the crossroads between the northern and southern cities, had been underdeveloped at first. But with the construction of a high-speed rail station linking the two regions and the growth of tourism, Yizhou had rapidly prospered.
Now, every inch of Yizhou was worth its weight in gold.
Not just the land—every related project promised great potential.
“President Chu, Yizhou is prime land with limitless prospects, but we’re based in North City. Wouldn’t it be difficult for us to operate there?”
“Besides, the Gu family has their eyes on this business.”
“Given that the Chu and Gu families have been close for generations, wouldn’t this mean be tearing that relationship apart?”
“There are still three projects over at North City’s Tianjie District. I heard the Lu family is testing the waters.”
Chu Muqing sat at the head of the conference table, watching them speak one after another. Half of them clearly favored Gu Heng. She gave a soft scoff—she’d only been in the hospital for a week, not dead.
And yet, so many people in the group had turned on her. Truly unexpected.
“So what do you suggest we do?” Chu Muqing raised an eyebrow. “This is business. It’s all open bidding. What’s wrong with CUTE’s proposal?”
Cheng Boshan quickly jumped in to explain, “President Chu, but the Gu family was the first to initiate this project.”
In theory, business within a city was like slicing a cake—everyone took a piece, unspoken but understood. No one complained.
But to go after someone else’s share, especially a family you’ve been close to for generations…
“Oh?” Chu Muqing lifted her hand slightly. “After working with you for so long, I hadn’t realized how kind-hearted I’ve become. Why don’t we just do nothing next month and let you hand out your salary to everyone instead?”
“I heard Director Cheng just bought a piece of jade last month. Surely a few million here or there doesn’t concern you.”
That shut Cheng Boshan up immediately.
“Have the project department follow up. Anyone else have a problem with it?”
The conference room went silent.
“No? Then meeting adjourned.”
Back in her office, Xu Chengke followed behind to deliver his report. “Miss Su went home last night and went straight to sleep. This morning, she interviewed at a company but got rejected.”
“She doesn’t have a job?” Chu Muqing frowned. The Su family wasn’t as powerful as the Chu family anymore, but surely their heiress wouldn’t need to go out and find work?
“Boss, did you even look at Miss Su’s file?”
“Hm?” Chu Muqing thought about it. “I guess I didn’t. I’ll look it over later.”
“She didn’t say anything to you when she left yesterday?” Chu Muqing asked.
Xu Chengke replied, “After she got in the car, she didn’t say a single word. Couldn’t read her emotions at all.”
“What about the Su family?”
“They’re reaching out to your uncle, trying to discuss a spring partnership.”
As expected. But all of that was just small moves. What Chu Muqing really wanted to know was—what terms would Su Wanqing, the most important piece on the board, eventually demand?
“Any movement from the Gu family?”
Xu Chengke shook his head. “Could it be related to the bidding process?”
“No,” Chu Muqing dismissed the thought. “There are more than fifty companies bidding. Gu Heng wouldn’t make a move unless he was sure.”
After the work report, Xu Chengke couldn’t help slipping into gossip mode.
“Boss, how are you feeling? Your body okay?” His eyes sparkled with curiosity. As a Beta, he had no personal experience of susceptibility periods, heat, or what marking felt like.
“…”
Chu Muqing lowered her eyes, calmly sipped her coffee.
“What job did Su Wanqing apply for?”
“Designer, I think.”
Chu Muqing raised her eyebrows in surprise. She’s a designer?
“Forget the Su family for now. Let them stir up whatever they want. Just keep a close watch on Gu Heng.”
“Boss, Lu Qinghe wants to have dinner with you tonight.”
“Alright.”
“In the evening, uh… where are we going?” Xu Chengke tested the waters.
“What, you forget where our home is?” Chu Muqing asked coolly.
“Your marriage license came in this afternoon.” Xu Chengke smirked. “Should we send it over to her?”
When she heard the news, Chu Muqing’s hand paused mid-air, and Su Wanqing’s face from the previous night flashed through her mind—those round almond-shaped eyes, wide and innocent, like a little cat.
“You deliver it to her,” Chu Muqing said. “Once she receives it, post the official announcement.”
Xu Chengke nodded and exited the office.
7:00 PM – Bangui Villa
Su Wanqing sat cross-legged on the sofa, marking off two more companies on her tablet.
The doorbell rang. She put the tablet down and walked to the entryway, checking the monitor. Xu Chengke was outside, holding three gift boxes.
Chu Muqing’s assistant? Su Wanqing quickly opened the door.
“Madam,” Xu Chengke greeted respectfully as he entered and placed the boxes down.
“This is your marriage certificate.”
“These are gifts prepared for you.”
“From Chu Muqing?” Su Wanqing raised a brow, skeptical. That didn’t seem like her style.
“Yes.” Xu Chengke hesitated for a second but didn’t reveal the truth.
“Thank you.”
“No need to be so polite, Madam.”
Because Su Wanqing had helped Chu Muqing recover physically, Xu Chengke’s impression of her had improved.
“Well, I won’t bother you further.”
“Wait,” Su Wanqing stopped him. “I want to move.”
“I’ll have to ask the boss,” Xu Chengke replied.
The apartment was too big for just one person, and being in a strange place made her feel uneasy.
“Thanks.”
After Xu Chengke left, Su Wanqing went back to checking job listings. It was hard to find work as a designer in North City.
Her phone rang. Without checking the caller ID, she answered.
“Xiao Su, I heard you already registered your marriage?”
Su Wanqing glanced at the little red booklet nearby and gave a soft hum of affirmation.
“See if you can ask President Chu to help your younger brother find a job.”
The caller was Fang Shucui—her stepmother.
Because Su Wanqing was a Beta, she had little status in the Su family. Her Alpha younger brother, Su Ningxuan, on the other hand, was doted on, and her stepmother leveraged that to act superior. Su Wanqing endured years of cold treatment and mockery while her father, Su Pingwei, chose to look the other way.
Ever since the marriage alliance with Chu Muqing, Fang Shucui’s attitude had flipped completely. She was now all smiles and flattering words—just for the sake of her son’s job.
“Aunt Fang, I can’t help with that. As you can see, I don’t even have a job myself,” Su Wanqing replied.
“I know you’ve always looked down on me, but Ningxuan is still your real brother. If he gets a good job, of course he’ll treat you well too,” Fang Shucui urged, growing impatient.
“I understand,” Su Wanqing said flatly. “Chu Muqing just arrived. I’ll talk to you later.”
Without waiting for a reply, she hung up.
Fang Shucui had always been cruel to the original Su Wanqing. When Su Pingwei wasn’t home, even the household maids had more status than she did. She had to cook, wash dishes, clean—and sometimes, she didn’t even get to eat.
If she hadn’t been surrounded by monsters in that house, she would never have agreed to move into Bangui Villa when Xu Chengke offered.
And there was no way she’d help Su Ningxuan. She wasn’t some selfless saint.
Lost in thought, Su Wanqing didn’t hear the door open. Her eyes were still glued to the tablet, scrolling absentmindedly.
“I heard you don’t want to live here.”
“Ah!!!”
Su Wanqing nearly threw the tablet, clutching her chest. “Why do you walk without making a sound?”
“You’re the one who wasn’t paying attention,” Chu Muqing said, bending down to pick up the tablet and handing it back before taking a seat across from her.
“I want to move to the Daning District. It’s too far from everything here,” Su Wanqing explained.
“Found a place already?”
“Not yet.”
She had dressed carefully in preparation for meeting Lu Qinghe. Her wolf-cut hairstyle was styled to a perfect curve, her earth-toned eyeshadow bringing out the alluring slant of her fox-like eyes.
Her lips were painted with a rich red from Rotten Tomatoes—a sultry color that was seductive without being vulgar.
This Alpha was truly good-looking.
“Let Xu Chengke help you find a place before you move.”
“No need,” Su Wanqing said quickly. “Assistant Xu already has too much on his plate.”
“As you wish.” Chu Muqing’s expression was cold, her voice emotionless.
Worried she’d offended her, Su Wanqing quickly changed the subject. “It’s late. What brings you here?”
“The Lu family is hosting a banquet tomorrow. You’re coming with me.”
The Lu family’s banquet? Su Wanqing frowned. She remembered something about that event—there was trouble.
[The Lu family… Lu Qinghe?]
[She’s an S-class Omega, right? She went into heat at the banquet… forced into—]
[What a shame. Lu Qinghe is such a beauty.]
Chu Muqing’s pupils contracted slightly. Who just said that? Was it Su Wanqing?
But her lips hadn’t moved. What was going on?
