- Chapter 16 - If Wenxi Wants to Eat, I’ll Pick It for Her Myself
Yan Huainan said, “You were very obedient as a child—just got a little rebellious after you grew up. As for when you started liking Wenxi, we truly don’t know. You’ve always been good at hiding your feelings. We didn’t realize anything until her family told us you’d been visiting the Yu household quite often to see her grandmother. Is that true?”
Xu Chenghuan added, “You told me yourself that you liked Wenxi, and you kept going to the Yu house just to see her. That’s all I know. You said you wanted to spend your whole life with her. As for why you suddenly turned into a scummy Alpha… honestly, we’ve been confused too. We never saw you interact with any other Omegas.”
There was far too little to go on. Yan Run sighed inwardly—she only had herself to blame for never confiding much in her parents. So, she turned to her older sister, Yan Zhi.
She headed straight home and made a beeline for the study.
Yan Zhi, with her gold-rimmed glasses and refined demeanor, was lounging in a recliner, book in hand. When she saw her sister walk in, she looked up briefly and asked, “What is it?”
“What kind of person was I before? Did I ever tell you anything about me and Yu Wenxi?”
Yan Zhi replied, “You lost your memories, not your brain. Why is this particular memory so important to you?”
She had a point. Even if she remembered, what difference would it make?
But Yan Run couldn’t shake the discomfort in her heart.
She wanted to know how she and Yu Wenxi met. Why had she fallen for her? Had anything ever happened between them? And most importantly—did Yu Wenxi ever have feelings for her?
“Jie, I really want to know. Is that okay?” Yan Run plead.
She sat beside her sister, her voice tinged with a rare plea.
Yan Zhi frowned but, unable to resist her sister’s soft coaxing, finally gave in. “You rarely told us much about your private life. There’s only one thing I clearly remember.”
It was the time she’d passed by Yan Run’s room and overheard her giggling to herself. The door was ajar, so she peeked in and saw Yan Run scribbling furiously on her bed.
“What are you doing?” Yan Zhi had asked.
Startled like a thief caught in the act, Yan Run slammed the notebook shut. “Nothing!”
Then, trying to change the subject: “Why are you so dressed up so late at night? Going somewhere?”
“Date, obviously. What else?” Yan Zhi, unlike her little sister who would later earn the title of ‘scummy Alpha,’ had always been charming and flirtatious, adored by many Omegas. But she was never the type to string people along—she only dated the prettiest ones and never brought up marriage.
At that time, she was dating a famous actress and planned to meet her after her shoot.
Yan Run, clearly intrigued, asked cautiously, “Sis… do you know how to pursue someone?”
Just as she expected, Yan Zhi had long suspected her sister was harboring a crush. She smirked. “Nope. People usually chase me.”
“…” Yan Run fell silent.
“Then how do people win you over? Like, what do they usually do?” Yan Run asked.
Yan Zhi replied, “If they’re good-looking, I like them.”
“…” Yan Run was helpless.
“So? Got your eye on someone?” Yan Zhi asked.
Yan Run blushed, then decided to be honest. “Yeah. She’s really pretty.”
Yan Zhi didn’t realize her sister was referring to the Yu Wenxi and chuckled. “Well, you’re not bad-looking yourself. I bet she likes you too.”
Yan Run hesitated, a little embarrassed. “I… don’t know.”
Then she launched into a story, keeping names vague. She didn’t dare tell her sister the truth—that the person she liked was the top-tier celebrity, Yu Wenxi.
She spoke of being invited over by He Yunzhi, who liked well-mannered kids. Yan Run fit the mold perfectly—polite, respectful, and sweet in front of elders—so He Yunzhi often asked her to visit.
One day, she ran into Yu Wenxi, who was home taking a break. Hearing laughter in the living room, Yu Wenxi paused her piano practice and came downstairs—only to lock eyes with Yan Run the moment she arrived.
Wearing a loose gray loungewear set, Yu Wenxi gave off a languid charm that made her seem effortlessly elegant.
He Yunzhi said, “Let me introduce you—this is my granddaughter, Wenxi. And this is the second young lady of the Yan family.”
Yu Wenxi nodded with a smile. “I know her. We’ve met before.”
He Yunzhi blinked in surprise.
Yan Run was so stunned she couldn’t even greet her properly. Seeing this, He Yunzhi finally realized—so that’s why this girl kept coming over. It wasn’t to see her, but her granddaughter.
So she made up an excuse to go take a bath, leaving the two alone.
Only then did Yan Run calm down a little. Smiling, she said, “Miss Yu, we meet again.”
Seeing how flustered and red-faced she was, Yu Wenxi chuckled, pointing at her cheek. “You’re blushing way too much. Are you okay?”
Yan Run let out a startled “ah” and turned away in embarrassment.
Yu Wenxi only laughed harder.
Maybe because she found her adorably awkward, Yu Wenxi agreed when Yan Run finally worked up the nerve to ask for her WeChat.
Thrilled, Yan Run opened her Moments tab, only to find it was limited to three days of visibility. She exited quietly, but her heart was still full—she’d added Yu Wenxi!
That night, as she was leaving, Yu Wenxi walked her out. Just before closing the car door, she tapped on the window.
Yan Run rolled it down.
Yu Wenxi tucked her hair behind her ear and said softly, “I’ll be home tomorrow too.”
It wasn’t until later, after asking a friend, that Yan Run realized—it was an invitation.
She didn’t sleep a wink that night.
The next day, she wore her best clothes and even put on light makeup.
He Yunzhi, seeing her arrive early, welcomed her warmly. She hoped Yan Run and her granddaughter would grow closer.
Just as expected, laughter echoed more often with the two girls around each other.
In the garden, the loquats were ripe. When Yu Wenxi said she wanted some, Yan Run didn’t hesitate—she climbed the tree.
He Yunzhi rushed out when she heard. “Yan Yan, the tree’s too tall! You’ll hurt yourself!”
Yan Run shouted back, “Wenxi wants loquats, so I have to pick them for her myself!”
He Yunzhi glanced helplessly at Wenxi, who shrugged innocently.
And sure enough—Yan Run slipped and fell.
Thankfully, as an Alpha, her body was sturdy. She landed on her butt and only bruised herself a little.
He Yunzhi was so startled she immediately ordered the butler to take her to the guest room and check her injuries. But Yan Run refused to leave. She held out the golden loquats she’d managed to pick and grinned like a happy puppy. “Wenxi, here. Eat this.”
Yu Wenxi, who had been smiling just a second ago, stiffened when she saw the fruit in her hand.
Yan Run was taken to rest in a guest room and examined—nothing serious.
He Yunzhi offered to let her stay a few days. Yan Run, knowing she’d get to see more of Wenxi, agreed at once.
That evening, Yu Wenxi was ordered by her grandmother to deliver dinner to Yan Run and stay to watch her eat.
Yan Run beamed. “Thank you!”
But instead of handing her the bowl, Yu Wenxi asked, “You knew it was dangerous. Why you still go pick them?”
Without hesitation, Yan Run replied, “Because I like you.”
For once, she didn’t blush.
Yu Wenxi was caught off guard. Her expression flickered. “Can you walk?”
“Yeah. Just a bit slow.” Yan Run replied.
“Don’t go hurting yourself for someone like that again,” Yu Wenxi muttered, sitting down beside her. After watching Yan Run for a long moment, she sighed. “You really know how to play the poor little puppy. Fine. I’ll feed you.”
Yan Run blushed. “Isn’t that a bit too much?”
“Then eat it yourself.” Yu Wenxi said.
“No—wait!” Yan Run grabbed her sleeve, eyes wide and pitiful.
Yu Wenxi couldn’t help laughing. Why did this girl love playing the innocent card so much?
“Open your mouth.”
Yan Run opened it—just a bit.
“That’s it? You think you can eat like that?” Yu Wenxi teased.
Yan Run pouted, then opened wider—only to nearly choke on the bite Yu Wenxi gave her.
She coughed.
“You trying to kill me?” Yu Wenxi asked.
“Sorry…” Yan Run’s eyes turned red as she gently dabbed her mouth with a napkin.
“I’ve never fed anyone before. How was I supposed to know you were this delicate?” Yu Wenxi finally looked a little concerned.
“I’m not delicate. Feed me however you like.” Yan Run replied.
Yu Wenxi blinked, then laughed again.
“What are you laughing at?” Yan Run asked.
She found Yu Wenxi’s smile incredibly beautiful—like sunlight through the mountain mist, soft and comforting.
That’s where Yan Zhi’s story ended.
Yan Run raised a brow. “And then?”
“And then you said, ‘Since she knows I like her, should I keep chasing or just confess outright?’ I said, ‘See how it goes,’ and you just grunted. Not long after, that scandal broke—pictures of you at a hotel with several Omegas. When we asked why, you said it was your choice and told us not to interfere.”
Yan Run fell into thought. Had she really been so pure in the beginning? Did she become a scummy Alpha because Yu Wenxi toyed with her feelings?
Later that day, Wenxi had just finished filming when Yan Run came to pick her up.
As she got into the car, she noticed a box full of plump, juicy loquats waiting for her.
“Oh? How did you know I was craving loquats?”
Yan Run smiled. “I heard I once climbed your tree to pick loquats for you. Figured you might like them, so I got these just for you to try.”
Yu Wenxi kept eating as she listened.
“And then I fell and ended up staying at your place… You fed me dinner for the first time. You really don’t remember any of that, Wenxi?” Yan Run raised a brow.
【So was that part of the script too?】
【How come I never knew Ergou went to Wenxi’s house? If it’s scripted, anything can be made up.】
Yu Wenxi wiped fruit juice from her fingertips. “Of course I remember. How could I forget something like that?”
“Then… I want to eat. Can Baby feed me?” Yan Run opened her mouth with a challenging smirk.
The moment she raised that eyebrow, Wenxi’s fans went berserk.
【What the hell is Ergou doing now?!】
【She seriously wants Wenxi to feed her? Where’s that so-called gentlewoman Alpha?】
【Let go of the girl! Let me do it!】
