- Chapter 17 - As an Alpha, One Must Learn to Respect Omegas
Yan Run knew that at this moment, many people were probably cursing her. Strangely enough, she felt no shame—if anything, she felt a thrilling anticipation, as if eagerly inviting the criticism.
Yu Wenxi was slightly stunned. She clearly hadn’t expected Yan Run to act this way. Was it just to provoke people into scolding her? Or simply to stir things up?
She gave a faint smile, then picked the largest loquat from the fruit tray. With delicate fingers, she carefully peeled away the thin skin, revealing a smooth, translucent fruit.
She held it up to the alpha: “You have to eat the whole thing, okay?”
Yan Run glanced at the glossy fruit, then looked up at Yu Wenxi’s smiling face. Instead of using her hand, she leaned forward and took the fruit directly into her mouth.
Her lips brushed against the other’s cool fingertips, and the sweet juice followed.
The loquat’s rich, mellow flavor enveloped her taste buds.
Yu Wenxi kept smiling, but for Yan Run, this scene felt incredibly familiar—so familiar it stirred something deep in her memory. She had experienced this before… hadn’t she? Yet she couldn’t quite recall when or where. She just knew—this taste was familiar.
“Have we…” Yan Run looked into Yu Wenxi’s gentle, watery gaze. “Have we eaten loquats together before?”
【What is Ergou even saying?】
【So random—she looks refined but seems completely out of it.】
Yu Wenxi let out a soft “oh” and shook her head. “I don’t remember.”
How could she not remember?
Yan Run was about to respond when someone knocked on the car window.
She rolled it down to see a disheveled alpha in a casual suit, eyes sharp and brooding, voice icy: “Let me in.”
Yan Run immediately recognized the woman—it was Gu Zhen, the alpha who had once tried to intercept Lin Chuyin.
Yu Wenxi glanced at her. Gu Zhen also looked back at her, then let out a mocking laugh.
“Oh, it’s you two.”
【Who is this person? She looks like she’s about to commit murder.】
【Isn’t she the alpha who blocked that really pretty Omega last time? Something’s off with her, I swear.】
【She gives me chills just from looking at her—so scary.】
【Seriously, terrifying woman.】
【Ergou should just drive off already if she knows what’s good for her.】
Yu Wenxi asked, “What do you want?”
Gu Zhen reeked of alcohol, her face flushed red.
She stared at Yu Wenxi for a moment, her expression growing more scornful.
“I really don’t understand why my sister would be friends with someone like you. She’s so pure and perfect, and you… you’re just a woman who’s always dating alphas, sleeping with who knows how many. And yet my sister thinks you’re her best friend? What kind of spell did you cast on her?!”
【What the hell?! Why would she say that?!】
【Wenxi is always being pursued—alphas literally line up outside the set with roses for her.】
【Exactly, so people just think she dates around. The truth is, everyone is chasing her.】
【I can’t stand this alpha. Is Ergou going to step in or not?!】
【She’s lucky she’s even driving at this point.】
Yu Wenxi remained silent, but Yan Run’s frown deepened. “Please don’t talk about an Omega like that. What does it matter to you if she likes dating?”
Perhaps it was the challenge from one top alpha to another that ignited a competitive spark. Gu Zhen smirked and leaned her hand against the window.
“Well, well. A simp is still a simp. Even with amnesia, you’re still licking her boots. But I guess it’s understandable—you don’t know any better. Still, I’ll tell you anyway.”
“Your wife is a slut. Who knows how many alphas she’s slept with behind your back. You love her because of her looks? Pfft… she’s nothing but an empty shell… In fact—ah!”
Before she could finish, Yan Run had grabbed her hand and bent her fingers backward. Gu Zhen cried out in pain.
She pulled back, glaring at Yan Run’s calm side profile.
From the moment the window opened, Yan Run had never looked her in the eye.
Gu Zhen shouted, “You dare hit me?! Do you even know who I am?!”
Yan Run replied coolly, “I don’t care who you are. Don’t you dare speak to an Omega like that. Even if she is—whatever you claim she is—as an alpha, you should know how to respect Omegas.”
“You’re insane!” Gu Zhen shouted, fuming. They were, after all, publicly known as a married couple. Yet this alpha was still willing to let her wife mess around? Enraged, she lunged into the car and punched Yan Run square in the face before Yan Run could roll the window up.
Unfazed, Yan Run unbuckled her seatbelt and grabbed Gu Zhen’s arm, fighting back with full force.
The live stream quickly cut to another scene. The staff scrambled to end the broadcast, but Gu Zhen’s words—and the fact that Yan Run hit a “civilian”—had already gone viral.
Yu Wenxi was stunned that Yan Run actually hit back. She quickly pulled her away from the window and slammed it shut.
Gu Zhen continued pounding on the glass, screaming: “Yan Run! Just wait to be cheated on! And you, Miss Yu! I forbid you from ever seeing my sister again! You’ll corrupt her!”
Yan Run snorted coldly and started the car. Gu Zhen stood there yelling like a madwoman.
Yu Wenxi looked down at her palm—she must have cut it on the glass. And that wasn’t the only injury.
Neither of them spoke on the way back. When they arrived at the villa, Yu Wenxi held Yan Run’s hand and led her upstairs.
Yan Run wasn’t used to being dragged like that and frowned. “I’m fine. Can you let go of me?”
Yu Wenxi’s voice came icy and sharp from ahead. “Shut up.”
So cold that Yan Run immediately fell silent.
Back in the living room, the others had already seen the trending topic.
Xu Zhaozhao asked, “Do you really think Miss Yu is that kind of person?”
Everyone looked toward Wei Qin.
As someone from the same industry, she’d surely know.
But unlike before, Wei Qin didn’t attack Yu Wenxi. Instead, she left quietly, almost lifelessly.
Being in the entertainment industry and having watched Yu Wenxi’s every move—she actually understood better than Yu Wenxi herself. And yet… she still wasn’t sure.
Han Shu sneered, “These 208 girls—so entitled, all because their fans spoil them. They come on this variety show like they own the place.”
Xu Zhaozhao coughed, “That’s a bit harsh. I think Miss Yu is pretty easygoing, and besides…”
He and Yu Chen were here for the money too.
Wang Yunfan tried to defuse the tension: “Alright, let’s not make baseless accusations. It was a livestream—this affects celebrities’ reputations.”
Han Shu snapped, “Baseless? Ever since 208 got here, all eyes have been on them. What room is left for us ‘normal’ people?”
Gao Ge frowned. “Han Shu, stop yelling at Yunfan.”
Han Shu clearly wasn’t happy. “What? I can’t speak now?”
Sensing the rising tension, Xu Zhaozhao quickly stepped in. “Okay, okay, it’s late. Let’s just rest for now.”
Wang Yunfan glanced at Gao Ge. Their eyes met. Gao Ge smiled faintly.
Meanwhile, Wei Qin stood on the balcony and opened WeChat. She messaged Ji Zhiye.
They had only just become contacts thanks to this show. Ji Zhiye, still recovering in a hospital bed, had been reading her social posts over and over.
—How are you doing now?
—Ah.
—Are you asking me?
Wei Qin was speechless.
—Who else would I be asking?
—Much better now.
—You don’t have to worry.
—Oh.
That “oh” felt too cold for Ji Zhiye.
—Did you eat yet?
No reply came.
Ji Zhiye sighed. She was talented and beautiful, admired by countless Omegas. But for some reason, she had fallen for Wei Qin.
Was it her temper? Her looks? No… none of that.
Maybe it was fate.
When would she finally win her over?

The trending topic was soon taken down thanks to the combined efforts of the Yu and Yan families. Whatever Gu Zhen’s intention had been, it didn’t matter now—no slander about Yu Wenxi would be allowed online.
When Yu Wenxi received a concerned message from her grandmother, she replied in a reassuring way to ease the old woman’s mind.
Meanwhile, Yan Run sat on the couch, watching as Yu Wenxi brought over some medicine.
She nodded, “Thanks.”
Just as she reached for it, Yu Wenxi pulled it away.
Her eyes were slightly red, but her tone was icy calm. “Let me do it.”
Yan Run pressed her lips together. “There’s no need.”
“No need?” Yu Wenxi’s voice trembled. “You got into a fight in the car! Do you know how dangerous that was?”
Yan Run knew it wasn’t the right thing to do—but she couldn’t bear to hear Gu Zhen slander her.
She wanted to speak, but didn’t know what to say. So she stayed quiet.
As if knowing exactly why she was silent, Yu Wenxi took her hand firmly.
“Don’t pull away.”
She applied the medicine carefully.
Yan Run hissed. “What is this? It stings.”
Yu Wenxi replied coolly, “It’s for wounds. What else would it be?”
“Smart pills?” Yan Run said.
Yu Wenxi couldn’t help but laugh.
Yan Run didn’t understand what she was laughing at.
“She said all that about me… don’t you doubt me?” Yu Wenxi’s gaze flickered as she looked up at Yan Run.
Yan Run shook her head. “We’re in a contractual marriage. I don’t care.” As she said it, she remembered A-Yue from that night.
Had A-Yue seen the scene too? Was she angry?
If it was her, she would probably be crueler than she was.
For some reason, a strange jealousy welled up in Yan Run’s heart.
Yu Wenxi smiled helplessly. “Got it. But still—don’t be angry, okay?”
“I just don’t like hearing people insult Omegas in front of me. As an alpha, you must respect Omegas.”
“Okay, okay,” Yu Wenxi said, half-dismissing her moral sermon. But then she looked serious. “Still, you can’t go around hitting people.”
“I didn’t mean to, but I couldn’t help it.” Yan Run replied.
“Then listen to me. Hold back.” Yu Wenxi said.
“Why?” Yan Run asked.
“No reason.” Yu Wenxi answered.
“Give me one.” Yan Run said.
“What kind of reason do you want?” The Omega tilted her head, eyes sparkling like stars. Yan Run found herself stunned.
She wanted to reply… but didn’t know what to say. And really, why did she need a reason?
“I…”
“Don’t talk.” Yu Wenxi said bluntly.
Suddenly, something soft and cool pressed against her lips.
Yan Run’s eyes widened in shock.
