- Chapter 18 - Yu Wenxi Actually Kissed Her First
To her surprise, Yu Wenxi kissed her. Voluntarily.
That familiar scent of jasmine tea wafted in again, carried by the softness pressing against her lips. The aroma grew stronger, like midsummer, when the jasmine blossoms bloom across the entire mountain.
So rich it drew Yan Run in, then let her go. Drew her in again, then released her. Over and over.
Moonlight shone silvery through the window, as if purposefully directed, casting a pale glow on Yu Wenxi’s flawless face.
She was kissing her—this Alpha whose face had turned a deep shade of red.
Like rain falling on jasmine petals, scattering delicately, and nothing else in the world mattered.
But soon, Yan Run pushed her away.
She collapsed onto the floor, gasping for breath.
This wasn’t just a fleeting brush of the lips—it was a real kiss.
Watching the Alpha struggling to breathe, a satisfied smile crept onto Yu Wenxi’s face.
She leaned in and whispered near Yan Run’s ear, “Didn’t you say you hate physical contact? If you don’t listen to me… I’ll just sneak a kiss when you’re not looking.”
“You—!” Yan Run’s voice trembled with fury as she glared at her.
The triumphant Omega took a few steps back, raising an eyebrow as if to say, What are you going to do about it?
“Didn’t we agree on some boundaries?” Yan Run said helplessly.
Sure, she was an actress, but that didn’t mean she’d just kiss people randomly!
Yu Wenxi blinked, then grinned. “Oh? Did we have a contract? Was there something in writing?”
Yan Run: “……”
Why is this Omega so cunning—just like an Alpha?
Seeing Yan Run’s frustrated expression, Yu Wenxi couldn’t help but giggle. “This is for your own good. Don’t reject my kindness—it’s rare for me to care about an Alpha.”
Yan Run wanted to argue back but couldn’t find a single point to counter. It was strange. Even with her memory loss, she shouldn’t have forgotten her own personality. If she used to be a heartbreaker, why was she becoming more clueless the more time she spent with this Omega?
“…Fine. I’ll do as you say.”
Yu Wenxi smiled faintly and hummed in acknowledgment.
Yan Run walked into the bathroom right in front of her, quickly splashing cold water on her face.
She could still feel it—Yu Wenxi had released pheromones.
At the moment of the kiss.
Omegas usually had far more control over their pheromone release than Alphas. They rarely released them toward unfamiliar Alphas.
So what did it mean that Yu Wenxi did?
Even stranger…
Yan Run didn’t feel nauseous.
Yu Wenxi…
What kind of person are you really?
You already have someone you like—so why would you kiss someone else?

Gu Zhen was found by her family’s housekeeper.
When the housekeeper discovered her, she was lying in the grass by the roadside.
When she came to, she was lying in a bed.
She didn’t care that her behavior had caused trouble for both the Yan and Yu families.
The first thing she did was grab her phone and send voice messages to Lin Chuyin. She refused to believe Lin Chuyin would ignore her.
Her voice was pitiful, like a wronged child claiming she’d been bullied by Yan Run.
“Sis… I’m in so much pain. Can you come see me?”
“Sis… an Alpha hit me. I hurt… so bad…”
“I feel awful, really awful.”
“Sis, I miss you so much. Will you please come see me?”
“Sis, I’m begging you… please…”
Before long, Lin Chuyin replied with a simple “OK” and told her to get some rest.
Less than thirty minutes later, Lin Chuyin opened the door and found Gu Zhen lying weakly on the bed.
Gu Zhen’s eyes were red, and her hands were covered in scratches—some from the fight with Yan Run, but most self-inflicted, to make herself appear more pitiful in front of Lin Chuyin.
“What happened to you? Why haven’t you treated your wounds yet?” Lin Chuyin scolded gently.
She moved to get the medicine, but Gu Zhen tugged on her sleeve.
Gu Zhen’s face was pale, her voice choking with emotion. “Sis, I thought you weren’t coming. You have no idea how much I missed you.”
Lin Chuyin couldn’t bear to scold her. Though she was six years older, she’d watched Gu Zhen grow up—almost like a little sister—and loved her deeply.
She sat beside her, tucking her hands into the blanket and gently soothing her. “There, there. I’m here now. Don’t cry. I’ll take care of your wounds, okay?”
Gu Zhen’s eyes welled up again—this time with real tears.
“Sis… you’re always so good to me.”
Lin Chuyin smiled gently. “Of course I am.”
After settling her, Lin Chuyin stepped out to get the medicine.
The housekeeper approached. “Miss Lin.”
Lin Chuyin always carried herself with grace and gentleness, and nodded politely. “Yes?”
The housekeeper said gravely, “Miss Gu has caused serious trouble this time.”
Lin Chuyin’s expression shifted slightly.
“In City A, everyone treads carefully around the two biggest powerhouses—the Yan and Yu families. The Gu family may be powerful overseas, wealthy beyond imagination, but here, they still need to show some respect to those two. Yet Miss Gu spoke rudely to the Yu family’s young miss, and even got into a physical fight with the Yan family’s young lady.”
“What?!”
Lin Chuyin didn’t usually follow entertainment news and had no idea Gu Zhen had said such things to her close friend.
The housekeeper sighed. “Mr. Gu flew back from abroad as soon as he heard. Miss Gu will certainly face punishment—but honestly, she fears no one except you. So please, Miss Lin… help guide her.”
“I understand. Thank you for telling me.”
Lin Chuyin returned with the medicine.
Gu Zhen, who had been playing games on her phone, quickly put it down when she heard footsteps, resuming her frail, pitiable act.
“Time for medicine.”
Lin Chuyin sighed.
Sensing something off in her tone, Gu Zhen—always sensitive—frowned. “What did the housekeeper tell you?”
“What did you say to my friend?” Lin Chuyin asked in return.
Gu Zhen snorted, “I still don’t understand how you and Yu Wenxi became friends.”
“I’ve told you so many times—we met at piano lessons. We’ve been friends for years. We’re close.”
“But she’s a flirt who toys with Alphas! You’re nothing like her—what if she corrupts you?” Gu Zhen’s mood flipped violently, from pitiful to possessive in an instant.
Lin Chuyin, used to her volatile nature, responded calmly, “She’s not like that. She even has someone she likes.”
“Who? It’s not that dog Yan Run, right?!”
Lin Chuyin frowned. “Don’t be so rude.”
“So it’s not enough that you defend Yu Wenxi—you’re defending Yan Run now too?” Gu Zhen erupted, sitting up and pointing to herself. “Sis, I’m your Alpha, right? I’m the one who loves you most. No other Alpha should be allowed near you!”
“I’m not fighting with you,” Lin Chuyin said. “Let’s treat your wounds first.”
“I don’t want to!” Gu Zhen shouted. Her voice cracked. “You’re mine. And I’m yours. Sis, I can’t let you love anyone else. Please, I’m begging you—no matter what’s going on with Yu Wenxi, just don’t fall for another Alpha. Please?”
“What are you talking about? I don’t like anyone,” Lin Chuyin replied, patting her head. “Don’t get upset, okay?”
Gu Zhen seemed reassured but, true to her nature, still looked uneasy. “Really?”
Lin Chuyin smiled warmly. She could never stay angry at this poor Alpha.
“You have to promise me you won’t bully my friend, okay? She’s not like you say she is. She’s a good person.”
Gu Zhen muttered reluctantly, “Fine.”
Then sulked, “And you’re not in love with another Alpha, right?”
Lin Chuyin shook her head firmly. “Nope.”
Gu Zhen smiled, nestling into her arms, pretending it didn’t matter. “You can’t like anyone else. You can only like me.”
“Let’s just get your medicine on first…”
“Okay.” Gu Zhen replied, but added once more: “You can’t like anyone else.”
Lin Chuyin quickened her pace, then paused before softly replying, “Mhm.”

After the Yan and Yu families pulled the trending topic, and with PR support from Liu Zhaoli, the incident didn’t spark major backlash.
After all, nothing had been officially confirmed.
Still, Gu Zhen’s identity was revealed—she was actually the heir of a famous publicly listed company abroad, which shocked many.
Yan Run, who fought Gu Zhen in a fit of rage, unexpectedly earned widespread support online.
[I can’t believe “Ergou” actually threw a punch for Wenxi. I thought she was a coward.]
[Is it possible this was all staged?]
[Who stages something and gets injured for real? I saw the scratch on her arm during the scuffle.]
[Fair point.]
[Okay, fine. Maybe I was a bit harsh on Ergou.]
[Why are y’all so quick to forgive? Have you forgotten all of Ergou’s past scandals?]
[Exactly. I don’t buy this act. It’s probably all for show. Don’t forget—it’s their company producing this variety show.]
[Enough. Let’s keep watching, or I’ll start shipping them.]
[DON’T ship them! Go ship Meng Qieyi instead!]
[Meng Qieyi barely gets any screen time. Did she offend the Yan family or something?]
