- Chapter 22.1 - Hot? Where Exactly?
Right now, Yan Run felt like an ant being crushed beneath an Omega’s heel. The suppressant had returned some of her reason, yes—but her body remained completely paralyzed.
She could do nothing but stare helplessly at the Omega in front of her, who was… doing God-knows-what.
“I’ve never used this type of suppressant before. It really hurts…” Yan Run said pitifully.
Yu Wenxi gave a faint smile. “You must’ve forgotten how it feels—amnesia, right?”
Yan Run frowned, still not fully registering her words. “But I feel a lot better now, don’t I?”
Yu Wenxi replied calmly, “Your face is still flushed.”
Hearing that, Yan Run recalled what Yu Wenxi had said earlier. Her face turned an even deeper shade of red. “Wait—does that mean… are you about to give me another injection?”
She bit her lip, clearly struggling to ask.
Yu Wenxi noticed her hesitation and tried to comfort her. “What is it? If there’s something you don’t want to do, just tell me. I’ll find a solution.”
Yan Run made a shy little sound. “I… I’m afraid of pain.”
Yu Wenxi: “…”
She feigned teasing. “You’re an Alpha, and you’re afraid of pain?”
Yan Run nodded seriously.
She pointed at her thigh and arm and couldn’t help crying out, “It really hurts!”
Yu Wenxi raised an eyebrow, like she was holding back a laugh.
Yan Run felt so embarrassed. A towering Alpha like her, whining like this—it was pathetic.
But pain was pain. It was a physical reaction. She couldn’t help it.
“I mean, a little pain is fine… but maybe give me one more shot? I still feel kind of warm…”
She thought she was being quite polite about it—but Yu Wenxi just wiped her lips and gave a sly smile, her voice lowering into something flirtatious:
“Warm? Where exactly is warm?”
Yan Run froze.
What kind of question was that?
Where? Obviously everywhere.
She answered honestly, “I guess… my whole body?”
Yu Wenxi gave a thoughtful “Oh.”
Yan Run frowned. “What does ‘oh’ mean?”
Yu Wenxi lowered her head slightly, and Yan Run could feel her soft breath brushing against her neck—light as a breeze.
That breeze carried a faint scent of jasmine.
Delicate and lingering, like mist.
Yan Run swallowed nervously. Thank goodness she was the model of self-restraint. Otherwise, faced with such a beautiful Omega, she would probably be drooling like any other Alpha.
Even so, the heat burning inside her refused to fade—it was like a fire lit in her chest.
Yu Wenxi leaned her whole body onto Yan Run and locked her hands around her waist, lifting her gently.
Though Yan Run was an Alpha and naturally stronger, in her current condition she couldn’t muster any strength at all.
Confused, she stared at Yu Wenxi. “What… What are you doing?!”
Yu Wenxi’s expression remained soft, even seductive, but her tone turned cold:
“Didn’t you say you felt hot? As your legally wedded wife, shouldn’t I help my weak little spouse undress?”
Yan Run was stunned.
She had seen Alphas tease others before, but she had never seen an Omega tease an Alpha like this!
Her mouth went dry. “No no no no no! I’ll undress myself! Or—no, you should just leave the room! I’ll do it myself!”
Yu Wenxi rolled her eyes. “Do you even have the strength to undress right now?”
Yan Run’s ears turned bright red. She swallowed hard. “Actually… I’m not hot anymore. Please… get off me.”
But Yu Wenxi had no intention of letting her off easy. She leaned in, voice dripping with mischief and charm. “Fine, then call me Jiejie (big sister).”
Yan Run’s eyes widened.
Yu Wenxi was only two years older, and she had never called her that.
“I don’t want you calling me ‘baby’ or whatever. I just want you to call me ‘Jiejie,’” Yu Wenxi whispered, her voice soft like water flowing past Yan Run’s ear.
Yan Run clamped her mouth shut.
Her body was dry, tight, burning—she felt like she might explode at any moment.
“I’m not saying it,” she gritted out, turning her face away.
Yu Wenxi, seeing this stubborn Alpha, couldn’t resist teasing her more. It had been a long time since she had this much fun.
Her delicate fingers slid against Yan Run’s skin, slowly and deliberately.
Yan Run, still reeling from the pheromone imbalance, shivered from the touch.
She let out a soft, involuntary moan. This was… weird. Why did it feel so strange?
“Ow—” Yan Run frowned. “What did you just do? I feel all tingly… and itchy.”
Yu Wenxi let out a low chuckle. “Still want more?”
Right now, Yan Run felt like a fish on the chopping block, utterly at her mercy. She shook her head immediately. This sensation was too weird—it made her nauseous and yet somehow… good?
She panicked. Why does it feel good?!
Yu Wenxi hadn’t even touched her directly—just gently traced her through the fabric.
But even that made the Alpha beneath her gasp.
“You’ve gotten thinner,” Yu Wenxi remarked, her tone half-sigh, half-concern. “You haven’t been eating properly, have you?”
Yan Run bit her lip, overwhelmed by the closeness.
Being pressed up against Yu Wenxi like this was already too much.
“So… how can I help you stay healthy?” Yu Wenxi murmured, her voice tender with a hint of sadness.
Yan Run blinked, stunned by the unexpected concern.
She gritted her teeth and said, “If you leave this room, I’ll eat more. Promise.”
Yu Wenxi gave a casual “Oh?” and smiled. “Then call me ‘Jiejie.’”
Yan Run: “…”
Time passed. Yu Wenxi still hadn’t moved off her, and Yan Run cursed silently.
This woman is too bold! She has someone else in her heart and still does this with me?!
But she couldn’t even argue—she hadn’t even met this mysterious Ah Yue.
In the end, she muttered, “Jiejie.”
“Hm?” Yu Wenxi looked mockingly puzzled.
Was she doing this on purpose?
“…Jiejie.”
Yan Run turned toward her like a child, and Yu Wenxi couldn’t help but laugh.
“Say it one more time?”
Yan Run looked like she might explode but turned her head stubbornly.
Yu Wenxi sighed. “One more time, or I’m not leaving.”
“Jiejie!!” Yan Run finally burst out.
Yu Wenxi doubled over with laughter.
Yan Run’s face darkened. What’s so funny about that?!
So what if she was two years older—was that really worth calling her Jiejie?
“Good girl,” Yu Wenxi praised with a rare smile, one Yan Run had never seen before.
She really looks different when she smiles like that…
Yu Wenxi finally got off the bed, picked up her thin jacket, and turned to look at Yan Run. Her eyes sparkled faintly.
“I hope I can hear you call me that again someday,” she said, lips curving into a smile.
Yan Run turned her head away again with a snort. Hmph!
Yu Wenxi slipped on her jacket and opened the door—only to bump into Wang Yunfan.
“Wenxi, we heard Yan just now… What happened?” she asked.
Yu Wenxi’s smile was like a spring breeze. “Nothing. You’ll get used to it.”
Wang Yunfan froze. Get used to it?
Wait—were they really doing what Ji Zhiye had hinted at?
But everyone thought their marriage was just for show. Could this all be scripted?
She chuckled awkwardly. “You two seem really close.”
Yu Wenxi smiled as well. “I hope you and Gao Ge become close too.”
Wang Yunfan hesitated. “Gao Ge is nice, but… I have some issues with Betas.”
Betas lacked pheromones—compared to Alphas, they were naturally less attractive.
Even though Gao Ge had left a good impression today, without time and effort, that initial attraction would fade. And with no pheromones to bind them, their compatibility would be fragile.
Yu Wenxi said nothing, but a trace of unease flickered in her heart.
She brushed her hair aside, and Wang Yunfan stared blankly for a moment. Stars really are on a different level…
Then she suddenly asked with a smirk, “So… are you into Alphas?”
Wang Yunfan was caught off guard but quickly smiled. “You know those two Alphas already like someone else…” She trailed off.
Yu Wenxi understood what she meant and didn’t press further.
Meng Qieyi had feelings for her. That was her right. But Yu Wenxi had every right to reject her.
When she reached the first floor, Ji Zhiye—still in her wheelchair—glanced up.
“She okay?” she asked with a teasing grin.
Yu Wenxi gave a soft hum. “Please don’t give her alcohol again. She can’t handle it.”
Ji Zhiye nodded. “Sorry. Didn’t mean to worry you.”
Yu Wenxi stuffed her hands into her pockets, gave another soft hum, flashed a gentle smile—and walked out.
Fresh out of the shower, Wei Qin came downstairs wrapped in a soft blanket. She had something to discuss with Ji Zhiye.
“How did it go?” Wei Qin asked.
Ji Zhiye took out a voice recorder and was about to hand it over, but after hesitating for a moment, she pulled it back.
Wei Qin blinked. “What are you doing?”
Ji Zhiye said seriously, “I took a big risk this time. I have a feeling Miss Yu’s about to block me.”
Wei Qin dismissed it lightly, “So what? You’re a Ji. What can she possibly do to you?”
Ji Zhiye shook her head. “You know it’s not that simple… Unless—Qin Qin, how about this? What’ll you give me in return?”
“What do you want?”
“A kiss.”
“Don’t try to bargain with me!” Wei Qin snapped, clearly irritated.
Ji Zhiye shrank back fearfully, not daring to argue further.
Wei Qin was still fuming. A Ji family heiress, afraid of an Omega like this? No wonder she found Ji Zhiye so hard to like.
“How much did you drink?”
“I do a lot of social events. Just a few bottles.”
“And with your injuries, you’re not worried the alcohol will make things worse?”
“For you, I would gladly—”
“I think you’re faking it. Your leg’s probably fine, isn’t it? You just want my sympathy!” Wei Qin grabbed a throw pillow, ready to hurl it, but Ji Zhiye quickly caught it. After all, she had been able to stand earlier when helping Yan Run in.
“Fine.” Ji Zhiye stood up with a sigh, her tall and slender frame clearly visible. “Yes, I lied. But I never meant any harm. Please don’t take it the wrong way.”
Wei Qin scoffed, her eyes narrowing as she sized her up. This Alpha had such a tall, lean figure—she could’ve been a model.
Wei Qin had seen plenty of Alphas, but none with a physique quite like Ji Zhiye’s.
What a waste it would be if this perfectly built Alpha ended up with someone else’s Omega.
“I see,” Wei Qin said coolly.
Ji Zhiye gave a helpless smile, thinking she’d been forgiven. Her mood brightened slightly—until the Omega in front of her suddenly stepped forward and hugged her.
“Is this the kind of reward you were hoping for?” Wei Qin asked, her voice teasing. She was genuinely curious what this Alpha’s body felt like up close.
Sure enough—abs. Clearly, she worked out regularly.
Especially those hands—long, elegant fingers like sculpted ivory.
Ji Zhiye flushed red and quickly nodded. “That’s enough, that’s enough—thank you.”
It was her first time hugging Wei Qin. The soft scent of roses clinging to the Omega made her want to linger, but eventually Wei Qin pulled away.
Still, Ji Zhiye was thrilled. She eagerly handed over the voice recorder.
“Here. I recorded everything. But you might be disappointed.”
Wei Qin gave her a strange look and pressed play. As Yan Run’s voice emerged from the device, her expression froze in shock.
So this was who Yan Run really was?
—
Out on the balcony, Yu Wenxi stood wrapped in a cream-colored blanket, gazing into the distance. Her eyes grew more distant by the second.
