- Chapter 22.2 - Hot? Where Exactly?
Footsteps approached from behind.
“Wenxi,” came a low, gentle voice—Meng Qieyi.
Yu Wenxi turned and smiled faintly. “What are you doing here? Looking for me?”
Meng Qieyi looked at her for a long moment before turning to face the stars beside her.
“She had lost her memory. She doesn’t love you anymore,” Meng Qieyi said softly, right by her ear.
“It’s clear she has no feelings for you. You two should just divorce in a while. I’m saying this for your own good…” Meng Qieyi added worriedly. “Otherwise, you’ll be stuck with someone who doesn’t love you for the rest of your life.”
Yu Wenxi’s voice suddenly turned cold. “My family has expectations. How could I dare go against them?”
Meng Qieyi sighed. “I know you care about your grandmother. But you should also care about your own happiness.”
She looked at Yu Wenxi with deep affection, a soft smile playing at her lips.
“Wenxi, no one in this world loves you more than I do. All I’m asking is a chance. Even the netizens say we’re the perfect match. We could be so happy together.”
“I can give you a child—your grandmother loves kids. If she knew she had a little granddaughter, I’m sure she would get better. After all, we used to have feelings for each other… right?”
She reached out to take Yu Wenxi’s hand, but Yu Wenxi stepped away.
Meng Qieyi stared at her, stunned.
“You…”
“Meng Qieyi, I did like you in college—but just a little. Don’t delude yourself into thinking I’ve always loved you. I’m married to Yan Run now… I will never get involved with anyone else, including you.”
“But we were together back then! You told me you wanted to try dating, that’s why we got together!” Meng Qieyi said, clearly unwilling to let go. “I pulled so many strings just to get on this show, all to see if Yan Run still had feelings for you after her amnesia. But clearly, she doesn’t! So why stay tied to her?!”
Yu Wenxi shot back, “Meng Qieyi, I told you clearly—I only dated you because I wanted to experience romance, and you were the best option at the time. We never did anything beyond holding hands! My grandmother wanted me to join this show, so I did. That decision had nothing to do with you or Yan Run.”
Meng Qieyi’s eyes reddened. “So you really don’t have any feelings for me?”
Back when they broke up, she, once the aloof upperclassman, had humbled herself outside Yu Wenxi’s dorm, begging for another chance.
Everyone knew. Everyone saw the famously pursued Meng Qieyi broken-hearted over an Omega.
Then she learned that the second Miss Yan was also pursuing Yu Wenxi—and far more closely than she ever had.
She had hated it, but could do nothing.
Now, she had to make Yu Wenxi understand—Yan Run didn’t love her. Only she did.
“No. Stop bothering me,” Yu Wenxi said coldly.
With a sigh, she brushed past her.
As she reached the corner of the balcony, Meng Qieyi called after her, “Wenxi, don’t go!”
Yu Wenxi paused, but didn’t look back. She walked away.
Leaving behind a lonely, devastated Alpha.
—
Back in the bedroom, Yan Run was lying on the sofa with a face mask on.
Yu Wenxi spoke gently. “Grandma wants us to come home for a meal tomorrow.”
Yan Run: “Okay.”
Yu Wenxi added, “Make sure you act the part.”
Yan Run: “Okay.”
Her reply was so flat that Yu Wenxi couldn’t help but ask, “Are you in a bad mood?”
Yan Run replied, “You two were arguing. It was annoying.”
Yu Wenxi blinked. So she’d overheard?
Yan Run asked, “You two used to date?”
“I just wanted to try dating. She was the best candidate at the time. And I told her up front. She agreed, and nothing ever really happened,” Yu Wenxi said with a sigh. “But… she seemed to really fall for me.”
“But you’re my wife now. Why does she still have these fantasies?” Yan Run scoffed. “At least wait until our contract ends in a year before chasing you.”
Yu Wenxi furrowed her brows. She wasn’t sure how to respond.
“Oh,” was all she said.
“And…” Yan Run trailed off. Since Meng Qieyi didn’t believe her anyway, she might as well show her.

The next morning, Yan Run took extra care with her appearance—her outfit was clean and elegant, her makeup subtle but well-done. Paired with her gold-rimmed glasses, she looked every inch the cool, ascetic professor.
Han Shu, still eating breakfast downstairs, couldn’t help but light up when he saw her. “Second Miss Yan, you look amazing today.”
“Thank you,” Yan Run replied calmly.
[Wait, how can Han Shu compliment her like that right in front of her wife?]
[I’ve never liked him—he’s way too handsy with Second Dog.]
[Really? I didn’t notice.]
[There was that one time during a gaming stream when he sat super close to her and even wore cologne. Seriously? Tone it down.]
[Gross. And Yan Run’s not even single—she has a wife! Luckily, she barely acknowledges him.]
[Respect to Second Dog for handling it like a pro.]
Just then, Meng Qieyi came down the stairs in a sleek black suit. She was the complete opposite of Yan Run—where Yan Run was gentle and refined, Meng Qieyi exuded the aura of a cold, dominant CEO. Though her family, the Mengs, wasn’t quite on par with the Yan or Yu families, they were still considered prominent.
While some appreciated Yan Run’s soft-spoken charm, many found Meng Qieyi’s striking looks more appealing.
The moment she entered, everyone’s attention turned to her—including Han Shu’s.
Han Shu had always been stuck between chasing the money from Yan Run, Ji Zhiye, or Meng Qieyi, never quite making a firm decision.
Wei Qin had left early to film, and Ji Zhiye was still asleep upstairs. That left just the two alpha women downstairs.
Without saying much, Meng Qieyi sat down and began eating her cold toast.
[Is it just me, or is Meng Qieyi totally ignoring Yan Run?]
[Makes sense. There are three top alphas here. Ji Zhiye seems close to Second Dog, but Meng Qieyi? Maybe she’s jealous because the one she likes got taken away.]
[Totally. Remember when she said Second Dog’s porridge tasted “off”? That was pure jealousy.]
[Omg, let them fight. I live for this drama!]
[Same! Nothing better than alpha vs. alpha over love. LOL.]
Yan Run could sense Meng Qieyi’s simmering resentment.
How arrogant of her.
Without a word, Yan Run walked into the kitchen and returned shortly after with a tray, setting it down in front of Yu Wenxi.
On the tray: a heart-shaped fried egg, a lightly sweetened soy milk, three dumplings stuffed with corn and shrimp, one tuna sushi roll, and a pan-fried beef bun.
The breakfast wasn’t excessive, but it was balanced and nutritious—causing a wave of envy among online viewers.
[Wait, Second Dog made all that?]
[Even if she didn’t make it herself, that spread is impressive. If I woke up to a breakfast like that, I wouldn’t skip meals anymore.]
“You’ve had a good appetite lately, but since you’re trying to lose weight, I only added half a spoon of sugar to the soy milk,” Yan Run said with a gentle smile. “I simmered it for half an hour—it should be rich and creamy.”
Yu Wenxi gave a soft hum and took a sip. The soy milk was indeed smooth, with just a hint of sweetness—perfectly balanced.
Beside them, Han Shu, mid-bite into his dry toast, swallowed hard. He looked like he really wanted a sip.
Meng Qieyi stared at her cold toast, feeling a sudden burst of frustration.
She commented stiffly, “Beef buns in the morning? Isn’t that hard to digest?”
Yan Run responded evenly, “It’s meant to be a breakfast item. And it’s just one. Wenxi and I have to go visit the Yu family later—it’s a long trip. What if we get hungry?”
Wang Yunfan chuckled. “Miss Yan is so thoughtful. If someone treated me like that, I’d be thrilled.”
Gao Ge grinned. “I could cook for you.”
Wang Yunfan rolled her eyes. “She didn’t even ask what Wenxi likes—she just knew. You wouldn’t even know what I like to eat.”
Gao Ge sighed helplessly. He glanced at Wang Yunfan’s plate and noted she was eating a rice ball today.
Meng Qieyi was momentarily speechless. She glanced at Yu Wenxi, who looked amused.
[Is Meng Qieyi… losing her edge?]
[Didn’t she come on this show for Wenxi? All she has done is bicker with Second Dog.]
[Right? Second Dog makes Wenxi breakfast every day. What’s Meng Qieyi done? Market herself as the one chasing love? Sounds more like she’s the third wheel.]
Yu Wenxi wiped her mouth and, in a casual motion, wiped Yan Run’s mouth too.
Yan Run blinked in surprise, then leaned in a little to let her do it properly.
Finally, a sweet moment between them.
Everyone—Gao Ge, Wang Yunfan, and the others—watched in stunned silence.
Meng Qieyi even more so.
Yan Run glanced sideways at her.
What? Think we’re not in love enough?
Fine, I’ll show you what love looks like.
[OMG are they… wiping each other’s mouths??]
[Finally, some sweetness! Is Second Dog finally loosening up?]
[Is this scripted or not?]
[Script or no, they’re totally giving “married first, fell in love later” vibes.]
[More more! I want to see Meng Qieyi explode with jealousy!]
Yu Wenxi hadn’t expected Yan Run to be so bold in front of everyone—but now that it had started, she played along.
Meng Qieyi, watching their intimacy unfold, felt her pent-up rage spike with nowhere to go.
Suppressing her anger, she stormed out.
Yan Run watched her leave, then calmly took a bite of the half-eaten beef bun.
Yu Wenxi leaned over and whispered, “That’s the half I didn’t want.”
“…” Yan Run froze.
[Wait, did you see that? Second Dog just ate Wenxi’s leftovers!]
[Okay, okay—I believe they’re actually in love now.]
[Still think it’s scripted?]
[Whatever. The show isn’t over yet—stop yelling about it.]
[Seriously, stop jinxing it. What if they stay together forever?]
[Look! Yan Run’s holding Wenxi’s hand and asking if she’s tired. Did something happen last night? 👀]
What Yan Run was actually asking was how Wenxi felt after their body conditioning session last night.
Yu Wenxi replied calmly, “I’m fine.” In truth, she hadn’t done much in a while—her arms were a little sore.
Suddenly, Yan Run took her hand and held it tightly. Wenxi looked at her in surprise.
Without saying a word, Yan Run led her outside.
The three people left behind all let out a collective sigh.
One sighed, wondering when they’d meet an alpha like that.
Another sighed, wishing he could be more like Yan Run.
The last sighed, realizing he might never win Yan Run’s heart—or body.
Outside, Yan Run quietly let go of Wenxi’s hand.
The viewers assumed she needed to open the car door.
Only Wenxi understood—Yan Run had just been putting on a show for the others inside.
Her heart sank. She bit her lip as Yan Run pulled the car up.
Like a robot, Yan Run opened the passenger door for her.
Wenxi got in without a word. The atmosphere in the car turned awkward.
Trying to ease the tension, Yan Run asked, “Are you feeling okay? You seem off.”
“I’m fine,” Wenxi replied, propping her head up. “Just tired. I’ll nap a bit.”
So the rest of the drive passed in silence—disappointing many fans.
When they arrived at the Yu family’s garage, Yan Run gently woke Wenxi up.
