- Chapter 22.3 - Hot? Where Exactly?
Wenxi stirred and wrapped her arms around Yan Run’s neck, murmuring, “Don’t bother me. Just five more minutes.”
Her voice turned soft and girlish, a far cry from her usual cold demeanor. Given how melodious her voice already was, this sudden change melted everyone watching.
[WENXI’S WHINING???]
[Her voice—I’m DONE. Even as an Omega, I can’t take this.]
[I doubt anyone can resist that.]
[Look at Second Dog—is she blushing again?]
[She blushes all the time around Wenxi. Can you blame her? Who could resist that?]
Wenxi tightened her hold around Yan Run’s neck, leaving her frozen in place.
Yan Run didn’t dare push her away—or wake her up.
The faint jasmine scent from Wenxi’s body surrounded her, pulling her into a daze.
After their last pheromone incident, Yan Run had become addicted to that scent.
So much so, she forgot how intimate the moment actually was.
“Miss, Madam, are you—” Their assistant Xun Yi arrived, only to freeze when she saw them cuddled up in the car.
Startled, Yan Run raised a finger to her lips.
Thinking she’d interrupted something private, Xun Yi turned away, face bright red.
Back with He Yunzhi, she muttered, “I didn’t mean to disturb them…”
He Yunzhi waved her off. “Leave them alone.”
Trying to distract herself, Xun Yi glanced at the TV screen broadcasting their livestream.
Wenxi was still clinging to Yan Run like a sleepy child, and Yan Run was just sitting there, letting her.
Xun Yi let out a sigh of relief—okay, maybe it wasn’t as intimate as it looked. Still, wasn’t this a bit too much?
After more than ten minutes, Wenxi finally stirred, blinking groggily. She let out a soft sigh that made Yan Run’s heart tremble.
“We’re here? Why didn’t you wake me?” Wenxi asked with a pout.
“I… you were asleep,” Yan Run said weakly.
“You could’ve still woken me up,” Wenxi teased, knowing full well what she’d done—but choosing to play innocent.
“I didn’t dare,” Yan Run said, flustered.
“Why not?” Wenxi’s eyes gleamed mischievously.
The once cold, aloof star now looked like something else entirely.
Yan Run had no answer—so she quickly opened the door and stepped out.
She opened the front passenger door, and Yu Wenxi stepped out effortlessly.
She reached out her hand, raising her brows at Yan Run.
Yan Run nodded and shook hands with her.
It took them quite a few courtyards to reach the small garden where He Yunzhi and Yu Huanzhu were waiting.
[No wonder it’s a prestigious family—this courtyard is bigger than my entire house!]
[I wish I had a house like this.]
“Grandpa, Grandma!” Yu Wenxi ran over excitedly and gave the elderly couple a light hug.
Yan Run followed behind, nodding politely. “Hello, Grandpa, Grandma.”
“It’s so good to have you both here,” the elderly couple beamed, having prepared a table full of delicious food.
During the meal, Yan Run chimed in now and then, but Yu Wenxi carried most of the conversation.
“It’s about time you two thought about having a child,” He Yunzhi suddenly said earnestly.
Yan Run, who had been enjoying her food, immediately choked on hearing this.
She knew this was going to come up!
Yu Wenxi just responded lightly, “No rush, Grandma.”
But He Yunzhi let out a sigh.
Concerned, Yu Wenxi asked, “Grandma, what’s wrong?”
Yu Huanzhu explained, “She has been having palpitations lately. The doctor says it’s due to emotional stress.”
Yan Run couldn’t help but ask, “Stress?”
Yu Huanzhu replied, “She’s worried about you two. She wants you to be happy together and fears a divorce or something like that. If you had a child, it would ease her mind. It might even help with her condition.”
Yan Run: “……”
[Oh no, the baby talk has started! LOL!]
[They’ve been married a month already—it’s time for sparks to fly!]
[Grandma’s the ultimate wingwoman, hahaha!]
Once they were back in Yu Wenxi’s bedroom, Yan Run stated bluntly, “I don’t want to have kids.”
Yu Wenxi replied helplessly, “You’re not the one giving birth.”
Yan Run paused and frowned. “Then how would you even do it?”
Yu Wenxi shot her a glance. Yan Run immediately hugged herself. “Don’t even think about making me do it.”
Yu Wenxi gave her a glare. “Do you look like you could?”
Yan Run pouted. “I’m not donating eggs either. And… we agreed not to do that kind of thing.”
Yu Wenxi sneered, “Do I seem like someone who’d cross the line? Don’t worry. I’ll make Grandma happy—just by being a little more affectionate with you. That should ease her mind.”
“But what if she finds out we’re planning to get divorced…”
“Do you trust me, or do you not even trust yourself?” Yu Wenxi asked calmly.
Yan Run was taken aback. She still couldn’t quite bring herself to trust the Omega in front of her. There was always a sense that what Yu Wenxi did never quite matched what she said, but not in any blatant way.
Yu Wenxi smiled. “Besides… if I did want to have a baby with you, what would you even do? Would you know how? Could you even manage it?”
Every word landed like a bolt of lightning on Yan Run’s heart—zap, zap, zap. She cracked right open.
The internet said she couldn’t bear children—said she didn’t even know how to do that. And Yu Wenxi had clearly taken it to heart!
Since the livestream was still running, they couldn’t just eat, drink, sleep, and watch TV in front of the audience. They needed to do something.
He Yunzhi suggested the two of them play a round of golf while she and her husband watched from the sidelines.
Yan Run made a detour to check out the loquat tree in the courtyard. Sure enough, there it stood, swaying gently in the breeze.
She blinked in surprise. There really was a loquat tree.
“What are you staring at?” Yu Wenxi’s voice came from behind.
Yan Run turned and saw her dressed in a sleek, ice-silk sports top that clung tightly to her curves. She walked forward a few steps, her waist swaying ever so slightly, her very breath seeming to shimmer in the air.
What… a figure!
Yan Run couldn’t help but cover her face—her cheeks were burning red again.
[Aaaah! Wenxi’s body is insane!]
[Not only is she gorgeous, she’s got the figure to match!]
[Second Dog is so lucky!]
[When is my turn to be with Wenxi?!]
[Back off—Wenxi is mine!!]
“What are you staring at again?” Yu Wenxi waved a hand in front of her face.
Yan Run snapped out of it and stammered, “I was just… I don’t know what I was doing.”
Yu Wenxi couldn’t help but laugh and pinched her side. “You dummy.”
Yan Run made a little sound of protest. She hated being called dumb—she thought she was actually quite smart.
But when Yu Wenxi said it, her lips curled up in a teasing, affectionate smile. It didn’t feel insulting at all. In fact, it made Yan Run… a little excited?
Excited?????
[Why is Ergou blushing again??]
[They’re so sweet together!]
[Sweet? Please, it’s just a scripted show!]
[Script or not, I still believe they’re real.]
[I think Ergou’s fine—she’s just bad at talking. People like that aren’t cut out for dating slick Omegas anyway.]
The director saw the rising fan sentiment and thought: Now’s the time! He immediately gave orders to start a round of trending posts at the Menghua HQ.
There was a golf course near the Yu family estate. Yu Huanzhu had it built in his younger years as a personal hobby, but since both Yu Qingyue and Yu Wenxi weren’t into golf, the place had become more of a walking area for the family.
The weather was still hot, so Yu Wenxi had thoughtfully prepared a sunhat for Yan Run and even helped her put it on in front of the two elders.
Earlier, He Yunzhi had pulled Yu Wenxi aside for a private chat.
“Is Runrun usually this introverted? She didn’t seem this shy when I met her before—not like how she appears on TV,” He Yunzhi said with concern.
Yu Wenxi smiled. “Don’t worry, Grandma. It’s just the cameras. She’s not used to being in front of them, that’s all.”
He Yunzhi nodded. “It’s gotten better. I can see she takes good care of you. That reassures me. I was afraid she’d lost her memory and didn’t like you anymore.”
At that, Yu Wenxi’s expression darkened slightly, though she managed a smile. “Grandma, your granddaughter is not someone who’s easy to forget. Even with amnesia, she has to love me.”
He Yunzhi relaxed, holding Yu Wenxi’s hand. “As long as you love each other, that’s all that matters. Tell her to ignore the online stuff—most of those comments come from your fans. They say she’s no good or call her a scumbag, but I know Runrun. She’d never do those things.”
“Is that so?” Yu Wenxi asked quietly.
He Yunzhi froze. “What?”
“Nothing,” Yu Wenxi said with a gentle smile, then helped her grandma outside. In the garden, the loquat tree stood in full green. Summer had brought its fruit, now mostly fallen to the ground, leaving behind a thick carpet of leaves.
“Grandma, what if Yan Run doesn’t love me anymore and divorces me?” Yu Wenxi asked softly.
He Yunzhi thought she was just being melodramatic. “Child, don’t talk nonsense. I’ve seen a lot in my life, and I know people. No one could love you more than Runrun does.”
“Does she really love me that much?” Yu Wenxi’s voice carried a strange undertone.
“Of course,” He Yunzhi said proudly. “Why else would I like that girl so much?”
Yu Wenxi gave a noncommittal reply and smiled faintly.
Xun Yi drove a small cart, taking the four of them to the golf course.
The course was vast, with a lake in the distance. Yan Run couldn’t help but admire how massive the Yu estate really was.
When they arrived, Yan Run got out first, helping Yu Wenxi down and then assisting the two elders.
He Yunzhi held Yan Run’s hand and said to Yu Huanzhu, “Our Runrun is quite the gentlewoman, isn’t she?”
The elders kept praising her, leaving Yan Run flustered.
Yu Wenxi simply stood by with a faint smile.
“I’m going to the restroom,” she said.
Yan Run blinked and followed her gaze. “I’ll go too.”
He Yunzhi chuckled. “Even going to the restroom, the two of them are inseparable.”
The golf course was a private one, designed for hosting guests, so the restrooms resembled those at scenic resorts—separated by gender, spacious, and well-maintained.
Yu Wenxi washed her hands at the public sink. Yan Run came up behind her.
Since this was the restroom and the livestream had paused, both women finally relaxed, facing each other candidly.
“Grandma seems to really like me,” Yan Run said.
“You’re only noticing that now?” Yu Wenxi raised an eyebrow.
“If I divorce you, won’t she be heartbroken?” Yan Run frowned.
Yu Wenxi shrugged. “Then don’t divorce me.”
“I can’t. Your fans would tear me apart. If we don’t divorce, my reputation is done for.” Yan Run shook her head. Staying in the marriage meant being perpetually cursed online, with no escape.
Yu Wenxi clicked her tongue and frowned. She clearly wasn’t in a good mood, and Yan Run, surprised, hadn’t noticed it earlier.
“Then what do you want to do? This won’t work, that won’t work, and you’re worried about everything. I mean, aren’t you supposed to be the Alpha here? Isn’t this a bit pathetic?” The Omega smiled alluringly and placed her hand on Yan Run’s shoulder.
Yan Run stared at her. Her lips were slightly parted and glossy, like a ripe cherry. What would it taste like?
Too bad… Yan Run wasn’t the type to steal fruit.
