- Chapter 23 - Why were you so rough? That really hurt!
Yan Run stepped back, causing Yu Wenxi to lunge forward into empty space. Calmly, Yan Run said, “You go first.”
Yu Wenxi scoffed.
The atmosphere between them now was that of bitter rivals, a far cry from the loving, harmonious couple they had just portrayed in front of the elders.
Yu Wenxi had never played golf before. She wasn’t great at sports in general. Even with Yu Huanzhu offering guidance beside her, she struggled to grasp the technique.
Seeing this, Yan Run spoke from behind, “Let me show you.”
Yu Huanzhu stepped back to let her take over—after all, it should’ve been her guiding Yu Wenxi in the first place.
Yan Run set down her own club and walked over to Yu Wenxi’s side. “You should…”
“Come stand behind me and guide me,” Yu Wenxi said softly.
Startled, Yan Run looked at her. Yu Wenxi gave a faint smile. “Just telling me won’t work—I need a hands-on lesson.”
The implication was clear: physical demonstration was necessary.
Instinctively, Yan Run glanced toward the two elders. He Yunzhi was watching them with a gentle smile.
That only made things worse—her gaze sent chills down Yan Run’s spine.
Suppressing her discomfort, Yan Run forced a smile, stepped behind Yu Wenxi, and gently wrapped her arms around her, placing her hands over Yu Wenxi’s that gripped the club.
Yu Wenxi’s hands were soft and smooth—unbearably so. Yan Run exhaled sharply.
The familiar scent of an Omega enveloped her once again, making her heart flutter. Swallowing hard, she whispered into Yu Wenxi’s ear, “Adopt the ready stance.”
“What kind of stance?” Yu Wenxi asked suddenly.
【Ahhhhh what is she saying?!】
【Such suggestive words—Wenxi, you’ve changed!】
Yan Run’s ears turned inexplicably hot. From the side, Yu Wenxi’s face was flawless—her full, rose-pink lips like blooming petals.
“Th-the ready stance,” she stammered.
Yu Wenxi gave a soft “mm” and smiled like a crescent moon. “Make sure to be clear—I might misinterpret it.”
Yan Run’s ears turned even redder. “Adjust your breathing. Relax your body. Arms and shoulders should hang naturally. You have to stay loose…”
Their bodies pressed even closer together, making many netizens blush behind their screens.
【No wonder they’re a real couple. So much sweeter than the loveless singles in the other love shack.】
【Wenxi is so good at flirting—I’m losing it, ahhhh!】
【Fine, I’m joining their couple fan page. Count me in!】
【When will I have a wife like Wenxi?】
【This is too sweet! Keep the sugar coming—I can take it!】
Listening intently, Wenxi slowly tilted her head closer, drawing nearer to Yan Run’s face. Yan Run’s voice dropped involuntarily until their cheeks nearly touched—and her lips brushed dangerously close to Yan Run’s.
Yan Run froze.
Yu Wenxi suddenly said, “Alright, let’s stop teasing and get started.”
Still catching her breath, Yan Run lowered her voice, not wanting the viewers to overhear.
Once ready, Yu Wenxi began to swing. Yan Run coached from behind, “You can use a bit more force. The motion’s important. Keep your head still and eyes on the ball… make sure you make solid contact…”
Before she finished, Yu Wenxi swung—and missed the hole.
“Aw, I didn’t make it in,” she said, voice tinged with disappointment but not quite whiny—just enough to tug at Yan Run’s heart.
The slight pout and tone made Yan Run’s chest tingle and her body buzz.
Yu Wenxi walked over and sat in the cart. He Yunzhi called out, “Runrun, go check on her.”
Still lost in the memory of that intimate moment, Yan Run finally came back to her senses and answered, “Okay…”
Her slow, dazed response made everyone assume she was a bit slow and honest—completely different from the rumors surrounding her in the past.
Standing outside the cart, Yan Run knocked on the door. “Upset? It’s your first time playing. Not making it in is perfectly normal.”
Yu Wenxi shook her head. “I’m just upset.”
That subtle pout again—soft, sweet, and slippery—flooded Yan Run’s heart like warm water.
Even when she was being deliberately difficult, Yan Run found her unbearably cute.
Realizing that, Yan Run was a little shaken.
“Uh… so what should I do?” she mumbled.
Yu Wenxi shrugged—wasn’t that her question?
Yan Run, who had never learned how to coax a girl out of a mood, reluctantly got into the cart and stared at her. Her gaze was already striking, but now it carried unexpected tenderness and depth.
“I’ll treat you to dinner—you can eat whatever you want. Or… if you want a gift, I’ll buy it for you. Anything.” She was clueless—but her wallet was not.
Yu Wenxi clicked her tongue and leaned in. “Yan Run, you used to be so much better at courting girls. What happened to you?”
Yan Run blinked. She did like Yu Wenxi in the past, right? Even with amnesia, could her personality really have changed that much? Maybe when you like someone, you just naturally want to do everything to make HER happy.
Yu Wenxi made an “oh” sound. “I get it—you got lazy after getting married.”
Yan Run knew that line was for the audience, so she played along. “I’m sorry… I’m not being lazy. If there’s something you want—no matter how far or how high, even a star in the sky—I’ll get it for you…”
Yu Wenxi’s smile suddenly froze. She stared at Yan Run.
Startled, Yan Run asked, “What?”
Then Yu Wenxi smiled sweetly again. “Then… how about a child?”
“Huh?” Yan Run thought she misheard.
Yu Wenxi laughed. “Just kidding. I’m way too pampered to be a mom. If you’d just go back to calling me ‘Jiejie’ like you used to, I would be happy.”
She suddenly leaned over and hugged her. In a low voice, she whispered, “Stinky baby, you used to spoil me the most, didn’t you?”
Yan Run didn’t see any problem with that. “Okay, okay—I’ll call you Jiejie. Jiejie’s the best. Stinky baby is ten years old this year!”
Yu Wenxi laughed out loud. “Why ten?”
Yan Run smirked. “Because ten’s the perfect age for loving a mature Jiejie!”
Yu Wenxi playfully slapped her. “You’ve got no filter.”
Yan Run smiled faintly and said nothing more. Watching Wenxi’s radiant smile, she fell into thought.
No matter how you looked at it, Yu Wenxi fit every standard of beauty. She looked amazing even when serious—but when she smiled? She was stunning.
That night, Yan Run couldn’t sleep. Her mind kept replaying the scene of teaching Yu Wenxi how to play golf.
Her voice, her laughter, her teasing—all of it made her feel both comforted and tormented, and it lingered in her heart.
She used to hate this kind of intimacy, so why didn’t it bother her now? Was it just post-coma discomfort that caused the nausea before? But she clearly felt sick around that Omega at the bar, too.
Yan Run couldn’t figure it out. Did this mean she wasn’t actually averse to intimacy?
As the temperature on the couch dropped, she glanced toward the bed where Yu Wenxi lay.
Her expression softened. Yan Run’s cheeks flushed as she ducked under the covers.
Could it be… that she liked Yu Wenxi?
Maybe that’s why being close to her didn’t feel uncomfortable?
The thought made her heart race—but oddly, it didn’t feel like a bad thing. In fact… she was getting used to being around Yu Wenxi.
The next morning, having barely slept, Yan Run didn’t wake until someone tapped her shoulder.
She reacted instinctively, grabbing the person and pinning them down.
When her eyes finally opened, she saw Yu Wenxi staring up at her in shock.
Looking at her fresh, makeup-free face and those unreadable, mischievous eyes, Yan Run’s heart skipped another beat.
Yu Wenxi lightly tapped her cheek, and only then did Yan Run release her.
Yu Wenxi sat up, rubbing her wrist. “Why were you so rough? That really hurt.”
Yan Run chuckled. “Sorry…”
Yu Wenxi shot her a look. “I didn’t wake you up earlier because you looked so peaceful. But when it was time for lunch and you still weren’t up, I had to. You looked so happy, though.”
Happy?
Yan Run was confused. Was she really smiling while dreaming about Yu Wenxi?
Downstairs, Yu Wenxi was already eating with the two elders. She said cheerfully, “Yan Yan and I are heading to Lan City for a trip!”
He Yunzhi asked, “After the show ends?”
“Nope. The production team has a new segment where selected couples go on a romantic getaway. Since we’re a couple, I chose Lan City!”
Yan Run blinked. “Good morning, Grandpa, Grandma.”
Then to Yu Wenxi, she whispered, “Lan City?”
Yu Wenxi smiled. “Sorry—it was meant to be a surprise. But you caught on. You said you wanted to visit Lan City’s Happy Valley a long time ago, remember? But you were always too busy, and it’s far away, so you never got the chance.”
【Wenxi is so thoughtful! Come to Lan City—I work there!】
【Oho! Wifeys are heading out on their honeymoon~】
Yan Run stared at the two kindly elders. When did I ever say that?
Yu Wenxi wasn’t the type to pick a big city like Lan City randomly. Still, Yan Run had been considering visiting Qin Zishu there. Yu Wenxi choosing that exact location felt like either an eerie coincidence—or… perfect intuition.
In that moment, she thought: maybe being married to Yu Wenxi isn’t so bad after all.
Wait—what?!
Startled by her own thoughts, Yan Run panicked.
Yu Wenxi still liked someone else. She couldn’t let herself get in too deep!
Her happiness deflated.
Yu Wenxi handed her a slice of toast with strawberry jam. “Eat up. You’ll be heading back to the Love Cabin alone this afternoon. I’ve got plans with a friend.”
Yan Run saw the toast she prepared herself and quickly took a few bites. “Delicious, really delicious.”
Yu Wenxi smiled with a touch of indulgence in her eyes.
Suddenly, He Yunzhi asked, “Did you sleep well last night?”
Yu Wenxi replied, “Grandma, that’s my room—why wouldn’t I?”
He Yunzhi smiled knowingly. “I was asking Runrun. She has only shared a bed with you a few times so far.”
“What?!” Yan Run cried out, a mouthful of toast muffling her voice and making her choke.
Yu Wenxi glared at her. “Why so dramatic? Do you want to scare Grandma?”
Though her words were stern, she still gently passed her a glass of water.
Yan Run dared not say more. She clearly slept on the couch last night! When did they share a bed a few times?! Yu Wenxi must’ve lied to Grandma—she had to have!
