【Sobs… My favorite CP in the same frame!】
【Rivals-to-lovers supremacy! But wait—how can your nemesis become your wife?! Wives cuddle in bed and… um, no, what I meant was… your nemesis should only be your wife!】
Pei Jiuyao shut her phone.
That night, she never got the answer she wanted. Chi Yang had shut the door and walked away, leaving her standing alone outside.
Maybe Chi Yang felt guilty—just a little—about Pei Jiuyao’s susceptibility during her heat.
But Pei Jiuyao had no time to dwell on it. According to Wen Li, Mo Tian had booked her a ton of jobs. There was even an emergency magazine shoot tonight.
Who the hell shoots a magazine spread at night? Clearly a last-minute gig.
Pei Jiuyao had assumed Mo Tian wouldn’t bother retaliating against a low-tier actress like the original Pei Jiuyao, but apparently her boss was more vindictive than she thought.
Textbook Alpha behavior.
To stay on top of work, Pei Jiuyao had dyed her hair back to its original color first thing that morning. As usual, she followed her doctor’s orders and went to Ying Ning to have her pheromones extracted.
Chi Yang didn’t come.
Ying Ning, surprisingly, wasn’t that shocked. After the extraction, she glanced at Pei Jiuyao but didn’t say anything.
There was a hint of hostility.
Ying Ning wasn’t the type to start drama. She rarely even spoke to Pei Jiuyao.
But Pei Jiuyao could still tell something was off.
Maybe because she bit Chi Yang?
She clearly cared about Chi Yang—more than a typical friend would.
“How do you know Chi Yang?” Pei Jiuyao asked.
Ying Ning replied, “My mother is the director of Chi Family’s Biopharmaceutical Research Institute.”
“Oh…” Pei Jiuyao tilted her head slightly, resting an arm on the table.
Still, Chi Yang had once said Song Mo was her only true friend. So whatever connection she had with the Ying family was probably just professional.
Pei Jiuyao peeled the gauze from the back of her neck, tossed it into the trash, and got dressed.
Just as she was about to leave, Ying Ning suddenly called out.
“Why did you have your agent make food for you at two in the morning?”
She looked like she’d been holding that in for a while, and now that she’d said it, she seemed visibly relieved.
Pei Jiuyao turned around, leaning against the doorframe. “Wen-jie?”
Ying Ning stared at her in silence.
So it was true.
Pei Jiuyao chuckled. “You and Wen-jie…”
“She’s my sister,” Ying Ning said quietly, fiddling with her fingers.
“Biological?”
“No.” She hesitated, then added, “My mom raised her, but there’s no bl00d relation.”
Still, getting that worked up over who she was cooking for at 2 a.m.?
“So Dr. Ying is into her big sister, huh?” Pei Jiuyao teased with a wink.
Ying Ning’s head snapped up, ears tinged pink. “Don’t say nonsense!”
Pei Jiuyao couldn’t help laughing. Ying Ning was terrible at hiding things—completely different from Wen Li.
“Relax. I won’t tell anyone.”
Her phone dinged twice. Still leaning against the doorframe, she pulled it out and checked the screen. Her eyes darkened, and the fingers holding her phone began to tremble slightly.
Ying Ning walked over. “What’s wrong?”
“Chu Si,” Pei Jiuyao said through clenched teeth, handing over her phone.
【Xiao Pei, since you’re okay with Alphas now, why not me?】
【Or is Chi Yang actually an Omega?】
Pei Jiuyao snatched the phone back and replied:
【Chi Yang is my sponsor. And you? What the hell are you?】
Chu Si responded almost instantly:
【Doesn’t matter what I am. What Chi Yang is… well, we’ll find out soon enough.】
“What’s she planning?” Pei Jiuyao’s brow furrowed. Her face was icy. “You don’t think she figured something out?”
Ying Ning, surprisingly calm, patted her on the shoulder. “Dragging Chi Yang down won’t be easy. But you and this Chu Si…”
“No connection. None at all.”
“You’re quick to cut ties,” Ying Ning said with a shrug. Then she added, “I’ll send you Yangyang’s next heat cycle in advance. Try to keep your schedule clear.”
Pei Jiuyao nodded and put away her phone.
Back home, something still didn’t sit right.
After some thought, she messaged Chi Yang:
【Chu Si tried to probe me today—asked if you’re an Omega. I think she suspects something.】
A long time passed without a reply. Pei Jiuyao headed to the fridge, grabbed a can, and was just about to open it when her phone buzzed.
【Xiao Mo told me Chu Si locked her up.】
Pei Jiuyao froze mid-motion.
【Where?】
【Wuyou Village. I’m on my way there now.】
Too coincidental.
Way too coincidental.
Pei Jiuyao threw on her coat and bolted out the door.

At Wuyou Village
“Hey, don’t forget your phone,” Chu Si said, her manicured finger tapping the device on the table before jabbing it into the small of Song Mo’s back.
Song Mo turned. A thin streak of milky white fluid was smeared on the phone.
Her expression twisted.
Chu Si chuckled and grabbed a tissue, wiping it clean. “What are you disgusted for? It’s your stuff.”
Song Mo snatched the phone from her. “Don’t touch my things again.”
She paused, then added coldly, “Not that there’ll be a next time. This was the last.”
“Turning over a new leaf?” Chu Si smirked.
Song Mo’s glare could kill. “It was just a game. I’m done playing.”
“Oh, now you flip the script right after getting what you wanted?”
Song Mo pulled a ring from her pocket and flung it at Chu Si. “I said I’m done!”
The physical and emotional pain she endured with Chu Si had become a way to escape the hell she lived in.
Chu Si was the only one who could inflict both.
But life wasn’t meant to be lived in hell.
What’s the point in staying there?
She’d fallen far enough.
“Don’t come looking for me again.”
Chu Si watched her storm out and sneered. “Princess.”
A few Betas entered the room shortly after.
“You’re just going to let her leave?”
Chu Si raised a brow. “Didn’t she say she’s done? Works for me. Let her burn out the last bit of usefulness.”
From outside, angry shouting echoed—“Chu Si!”—growing louder with every step.
Chu Si lifted her champagne glass, took a sip, and only when the voices reached the door did she pat someone beside her on the arm.
“Bring Miss Chi in. No need to keep her waiting.”
“Yes, ma’am,” the man replied, stepping outside.
Moments later, Chi Yang was escorted in, with two Betas immediately sealing off the entrance.
Chi Yang frowned.
“Chu Si, where’s Song Mo?”
Chu Si took a drag from her cigarette and exhaled slowly.
“She’s fine. Relax.”
Chi Yang waved the smoke away, her face twisted in disgust.
“Hand Song Mo over. I won’t do anything to you. Otherwise, I’m calling the police.”
“She already went home,” Chu Si sneered, slamming her glass hard on the table.
Chi Yang’s eyes turned cold. She immediately sensed something was wrong and turned to leave, only to be blocked by two Betas.
She pulled out her phone, but one of them pinned her arm down and snatched it away.
Chi Yang turned her head, glaring.
“Chu Si, if I’m not back in thirty minutes, my assistant will call the police.”
“Then why not call them now?” Chu Si stood up, laughing softly. “Afraid the media will get wind of what I might’ve done to poor little Song Mo? That wouldn’t look too good, would it?”
Her guess hit the mark. Chi Yang’s pupils shrank slightly, her voice dark and sharp.
“What do you want?”
Chu Si’s lips curled.
“Pei Jiuyao always had a thing for delicate, pretty Omegas. So how did someone like you become her sponsor?”
Chi Yang scoffed, voice cold.
“Miss Chu, if you’ve got the money, you can buy whoever you want. What’s it to you?”
Suddenly, Chu Si reached for the back of Chi Yang’s neck—but Chi Yang slapped her across the face, hard.
SMACK.
The sound rang sharp and clear.
A Beta behind her lunged forward to restrain Chi Yang, but Chu Si waved him off.
She licked the bl00d from her lips, sucking it between her teeth with a twisted grin.
“Rich girls. Always so feisty.”
Chi Yang spoke icily, “You think I came here alone? There are Chi family bodyguards outside.”
Chu Si chuckled.
“Then let them in. Go on.”
Chi Yang had left in a rush.
More importantly, she’d never actually considered Chu Si would dare to lay a hand on her.
She was Chi Qing’s sister—Chu Si would need a dozen lives to survive if Chi Qing came for her.
Even Mo Tian treaded carefully around Chi Qing.
But Chu Si didn’t care about her own life.
Now Chi Yang was finally starting to panic.
She feared Chu Si had discovered her secret—that she was an Omega—and might use it against her. Worse yet, she might leave behind evidence that could destroy Chi Yang’s career.
This whole trap was clearly set for her. And yet, the moment Song Mo was involved, Chi Yang had walked right in without thinking.
She hadn’t brought anyone.
Her only hope now was Pei Jiuyao—who, oddly enough, she believed would come.
She just had to buy enough time.
Chi Yang took a few steps back and grabbed a glass from the table.
“What the hell do you want?”
Chu Si cracked her knuckles.
“I was going to use a heat-inducing suppressant on you. But honestly, that’s too boring.”
Chi Yang’s grip on the glass tightened, her voice low and furious.
“Don’t you dare.”
“Chi Yang, you’re not… an Omega, are you?” Chu Si stared at her innocently, a sinister smirk tugging at her lips.
“You’re out of your damn mind. Why would I be an Omega?”
“Well, there’s one way to find out, isn’t there?” Chu Si took a step closer, smiling wider. “What do you think Pei Jiuyao would feel, seeing her sugar mommy marked by me?”
Chi Yang flinched.
So she had calculated that Pei Jiuyao would come. She wanted her to see this.
“You like Pei Jiuyao?” Chi Yang asked. Her temples were starting to sweat, but her voice stayed calm. “Chu Si, if you go through with this, the Chi family won’t spare you. And more importantly… you’ll only push her even further away.”
Chi Yang had never been able to be marked before. But now, with the pheromone injections, she didn’t know what might happen.
If Chu Si bit her… she would know the truth.
Chi Yang couldn’t take that risk.
“She and I are the same,” Chu Si hissed, stepping closer. “But you tricked her away from me.”
“She’s not mine anymore anyway—so I may as well destroy you.”
Chu Si suddenly released a wave of pheromones and lunged, grabbing Chi Yang’s collar. The force of her Alpha strength left Chi Yang reeling.
Chi Yang swung the glass and smashed it over Chu Si’s head.
Chu Si stumbled back, bl00d pouring from the wound.
She stared at Chi Yang, grinning as bl00d dripped down her face.
“Still no reaction?”
She glared at Chi Yang, her smile turning eerie.
“Inject her with the suppressant.”
The Betas behind her stepped forward with the needle.

Pei Jiuyao arrived at Wuyou Village thirty minutes later. She spotted Chi Yang’s car in the underground garage and immediately sensed something was wrong.
She bolted toward the elevator, sending a quick message to Ying Ning on the way:
【Chi Yang is at Wuyou Village. I think Chu Si figured out she’s an Omega and plans to do something. Should I call the police?】
【Don’t call yet. I’ll notify President Chi.】
Pei Jiuyao frowned at the reply.
Her finger hovered over the emergency dial, then dropped.
She knew how people like Chi Qing hated police involvement.
And if Chi Yang hadn’t called them herself, Pei Jiuyao didn’t want to go over her head.
As soon as the elevator doors opened, she ran out and grabbed a staff member.
“Where’s Chu Si?”
“I—I don’t know…” The staffer dodged her gaze and quickly slipped away.
Pei Jiuyao’s fingers curled into a fist. Her expression darkened.
She stormed down to the second basement level and started throwing open doors, calling Chi Yang’s name.
She knew Chu Si was there. She was just hiding.
Out of patience, Pei Jiuyao began smashing things.
Eventually, several staff members rushed in and shoved her against the wall.
“Miss Pei, you can’t cause trouble here.”
Pei Jiuyao’s eyes were bloodshot.
“Where’s Chu Si?!”
“Our boss… isn’t here.”
She struggled against them, looking around as more employees arrived.
Then, suddenly, her expression turned ice cold.
She reached up and ripped the gauze from the back of her neck—“shrrip.”
She still remembered how Chi Yang had taught her to control her pheromones.
And she’d read plenty about ABO dynamics. High-grade pheromones could suppress lower-grade ones.
Pei Jiuyao was an SSS-level Alpha.
In an instant, her overpowering pheromones exploded through the corridor.
The staff—mostly Omegas and Alphas—collapsed under the pressure. Some even fainted on the spot.
She grabbed one familiar Alpha by the neck and growled,
“Where. Is. Chu. Si?”
Her eyes glowed crimson.
“Th-there…” the Alpha stammered, trembling as he pointed the way.
Pei Jiuyao shoved him aside, stormed down the hall, and kicked open the door—sending the two Betas inside flying.
What she saw made her bl00d run cold.
Chi Yang was tied to a chair, clothes disheveled, red eyes locked on Chu Si.
Chu Si stood in front of her, bent over, one hand gripping her jaw, the other holding a syringe.
The moment she saw Pei Jiuyao, Chi Yang jerked violently against her restraints, tears spilling down her cheeks.
“Chu Si!”
Pei Jiuyao lunged forward, grabbing Chu Si by the throat and slamming her onto the table. She yanked the syringe from Chu Si’s hand and stabbed it into her neck instead.
“What the hell did you do to her?!”
The crushing weight of Pei Jiuyao’s pheromones hit like a wave.
Chu Si slumped over the glass table, coldness seeping into her bones.
She let out a strained laugh.
“You’ve… evolved.”
Then she moaned softly, knees buckling.
“I just… marked her.”
“You sick freak!” Pei Jiuyao’s grip tightened, bones cracking beneath her fingers.
“Pei Jiuyao,” Chi Yang’s voice was faint, but firm. “She didn’t do anything. Come here. Untie me.”
Pei Jiuyao turned, her eyes nearly glazed over, hands still clenched around Chu Si’s throat.
Chu Si’s fingers twitched against her wrist… and then fell limp.
Chi Yang’s voice was weaker now, but steady.
“You’ll kill her if you keep going. Listen to me.”
Pei Jiuyao still didn’t move.
Her pheromones were suffocating. Even Chi Yang could barely hold on.
If this continued, Chu Si wouldn’t win—but Chi Yang might not survive either.
“Pei Jiuyao… be good, okay?” Chi Yang’s neck was tense, her voice trembling with effort.
Pei Jiuyao froze.
Then finally—finally—she let go of Chu Si and rushed to untie Chi Yang.
But the moment she reached her, the two Betas grabbed her from behind.
Pei Jiuyao struggled, her pheromones flaring even stronger.
Chi Yang shot her a glare, her cheeks faintly flushed.
“Pei Jiuyao, they’re Betas. It’s useless.”
It was only then that Pei Jiuyao noticed Chi Yang’s abnormal state. She quickly withdrew her pheromones.
“Chu Si, I’ve already called the police. Whatever you’re trying to do—let Chi Yang go!”
Chu Si leaned against the glass table like a boneless piece of flesh. After a long pause, she struggled to stand.
“Xiao Pei,” she walked over and traced Pei Jiuyao’s jawline with her fingers, “Weren’t we the closest?”
“If you weren’t into Alphas, fine—but if you are, shouldn’t I have been the first one you liked?”
“You’re insane!”
“I am insane!” Chu Si suddenly let go and bent over, laughing maniacally. “To think I actually fell for someone as stupid as you.”
“But it doesn’t matter anymore. I’m not even afraid to die,” Chu Si turned to Chi Yang, “Not when I’ve come this far.”
“Chu Si!” Pei Jiuyao called out, “If it’s me you want, then come for me. Don’t touch her!”
Chu Si paused mid-step, then slowly smiled. “You’re right.”
“But the thing is, I can’t do anything to you.”
Pei Jiuyao steadied her breath and said calmly, “Inject me with the second differentiation serum. Mark me.”
Chi Yang’s eyes widened in shock. “No!”
“I can,” Chu Si’s expression softened into a delighted smile. “If you’re willing, all the better.”
She summoned someone to bring the serum and gently rubbed the back of Pei Jiuyao’s neck, raising the syringe.
In a flash, Pei Jiuyao broke free from the two Betas, releasing a surge of pheromones.
Chu Si’s knees buckled. Pei Jiuyao snatched the syringe with one hand and twisted Chu Si’s arm behind her back with the other, pressing the needle to her carotid artery.
“Back off—unless you want her dead!”
The Betas exchanged wary glances.
“Xiao Pei…” Chu Si chuckled with a tearful smile. “I guess I’ve always been too soft with you.”
Suddenly, Chu Si screamed, her voice deranged. “Go ahead, kill me! Do it, Pei Jiuyao!”
Chi Yang’s lips parted slightly. “You can’t kill her.”
Even though Chi Yang wanted to kill Chu Si with her own hands, the last shred of her reason still pleaded with Pei Jiuyao.
The way Pei Jiuyao had grabbed Chu Si’s throat moments ago… It had scared her. She was terrified she’d actually go too far.
Chi Yang silently mouthed again: You can’t kill her.
Chu Si’s eyes darkened. She didn’t care that Pei Jiuyao could end her life at any moment.
She simply barked at the Betas, “Take Chi Yang away.”
“Try it and see what happens.”
Boom!
The door slammed open. A group of people burst in, subduing the Betas and prying the syringe from Pei Jiuyao’s hand, restraining the others.
Chu Si slowly closed her eyes.
Pei Jiuyao struggled, her pheromones exploding into the room.
