- Chapter 4 - 100% Pheromone Compatibility
Pei Jiuyao had originally planned to order takeout.
But after what happened last night, she was worried that Chi Yang might wake up and tear her limb from limb.
So, in the end, she decided to make up for it somehow.
She drove home and stopped to pick up some fresh ingredients along the way.
Ying Ning was at the hospital taking care of Chi Yang—which should have been a good thing. But for some reason, Pei Jiuyao felt vaguely annoyed, as if Ying Ning had taken advantage of something that should’ve been hers.
Besides, Chi Yang always seemed tense and uncomfortable around her, but was visibly more relaxed with Ying Ning.
And… they seemed to be quite close.
That thought made Pei Jiuyao purse her lips unconsciously.
The original host had a terrible reputation. It was only natural for Chi Yang not to like Pei Jiuyao. It had nothing to do with the fact that Ying Ning was also an Alpha.
Pei Jiuyao sorted the ingredients, tossed them into a pot, and set them to simmer. She plugged in her phone to charge.
The bedroom was still a mess. Though she’d changed the bedsheets last night, the cabinet Chi Yang had knocked over and the torn clothes were still scattered across the floor.
The sweet, lingering scent of strawberry sparkling wine hung heavy in the air.
The smell made Pei Jiuyao’s breathing quicken for no reason. In a moment of panic, she knelt down and picked up one of Chi Yang’s garments, holding it to her nose.
The residual scent filled her nostrils instantly. She closed her eyes involuntarily, her eyelashes fluttering like a trembling butterfly.
The chaos in her body seemed to vanish in an instant.
She rubbed her cheek lightly against the rough clasp at the edge of the fabric, leaving faint scratches on her pale skin.
When she realized what she was doing, she froze. Then she quickly threw the garment aside and opened the window to air the room.
As the cool breeze rushed in, Pei Jiuyao rubbed her temples hard, walked into the living room, and sat down on the sofa to reflect.
Pei Jiuyao—youngest Grand Slam Best Actress in history, the youngest dual-soloist in piano and violin at the Venus Concert Hall, her debut album having won the Silver Cloud Album of the Year.
Talented, popular, with a loving family and a bright future.
And yet, she was now stuck in the role of a cannon-fodder scumbag.
That, she could live with. But to fall in love at first sight with the woman who was destined to drive her insane?
To the point that she’d sneak back into the bedroom to sniff her clothes after being apart for just one hour… and even cook soup for her?
That was absolutely not Pei Jiuyao’s style.
Pei Jiuyao, you’re seriously ill.
And what the hell is up with this pheromone suppression wristband?
The memories kept coming back in fragmented flashes. This knowledge must’ve been learned by the original host in childhood—no matter how hard she tried, Pei Jiuyao just couldn’t recall it clearly.
She glanced at her phone nearby and suddenly remembered—when in doubt, rely on technology!
She quickly picked it up and typed “pheromones” into the search bar.
Seeing the bold headline “Induce Heat”, Pei Jiuyao fell silent.
So Chi Yang’s condition last night… was triggered by her pheromones?
But according to the data, an Omega only enters heat when exposed to a highly compatible Alpha’s pheromones…
Wait—did that mean her condition last night wasn’t because of drugs, but because of pheromone compatibility?
Hold on a second.
Omega? Wasn’t Chi Yang an Alpha? How could someone with a fiancée who was an Omega be an Omega herself?
The more she thought about it, the more chaotic it became.
Pei Jiuyao wandered into the kitchen and stared blankly at the steam rising from the pot.
Originally, the host had intended to mark Song Mo. How did things end up with Chi Yang instead?
Just thinking of Song Mo made Pei Jiuyao’s face darken.
The original host had leaked a video of Song Mo in heat—meaning there was very likely a hidden camera somewhere in this apartment.
Pei Jiuyao dropped her phone in a panic and searched the bedroom thoroughly. Under the cabinet facing the bed, she found a pinhole camera.
She yanked out the memory card and snapped it in half with force. Knowing these cameras usually synced to other devices, she opened her phone, searched for connected files, and permanently deleted them.
Only then did she breathe a sigh of relief.
One major problem solved.

In the hospital room, the first thing Chi Yang saw when she opened her eyes was Ying Ning in a white coat.
Her body reacted instinctively—an unbearable sense of agitation and emptiness surged through her.
Her eyes darted in confusion, flickering like shattered stars. She sat up abruptly, scanning for a familiar figure.
“Where’s Pei Jiuyao?”
The moment she asked, Chi Yang realized how ridiculous and out of character that sounded.
Why should she care where Pei Jiuyao went?
Annoyed with herself, she ran a hand through her hair and shoved a pillow behind her lower back.
Ying Ning, who had been sitting on the sofa, walked over and handed her a bl00d report, leaning against the foot of the bed.
“Didn’t you send her home to make soup for you?”
Chi Yang awkwardly responded with an “Oh” and casually flipped through the report. “I wasn’t really serious, just saying whatever.”
Then her eyes landed on the bold line:
Pheromone Compatibility: 100%
Her entire body trembled. Her gaze darkened instantly.
A 100% match. That meant complete suppression. No way to escape. Was she really destined to fall into Pei Jiuyao’s hands?
Ying Ning chuckled lightly. “I’ve got good news and bad news. Which do you want first?”
“The bad news,” Chi Yang said.
She had already prepared herself for the worst the moment she decided to let Pei Jiuyao mark her.
Even if the success rate for gland removal surgery was less than 50%, the worst-case scenario was mutual destruction.
“The bad news is—Pei Jiuyao has evolved again.”
Chi Yang looked stunned. “Again? Isn’t she already an SS-level Alpha?”
Ying Ning replied solemnly, “Maybe it’s because she marked you. Or maybe it’s because she had to evolve to mark you. Either way, the tests show her level has increased. Which means she’s now the only one in Hai City—no, the entire country—who’s reached SSS-level Alpha.”
“She’s become a ‘Tyrant.’”
“A Tyrant? What’s that supposed to mean?”
“It means… the Omegas marked by her will enter an extended period of submission, including—but not limited to—you currently feeling… empty. And possibly craving to be marked again…”
Ying Ning’s voice trailed off.
Chi Yang understood exactly what she hadn’t said. She knew her own symptoms better than anyone.
She had originally assumed all those twisted thoughts were just side effects of pheromone imbalance.
“If you want to relieve those symptoms, you may need temporary marks from Pei Jiuyao for the time being,” Ying Ning added.
“…And the good news?”
“The good news is—your pheromone compatibility is 100%.”
Chi Yang let out a cold laugh. “How is that good news?”
Ying Ning explained, “If we can extract enough of Pei Jiuyao’s pheromones, we might be able to develop a treatment to cure your imbalance. Isn’t that what you’ve always wanted?”
Chi Yang’s expression shifted. If it really could be cured… that would be amazing.
She’d suffered ever since her secondary gender differentiated. Gland removal had always been her last resort.
Ying Ning saw her hesitation and added, “Also—Pei Jiuyao’s bl00d showed traces of sedatives. She really was drugged.”
“So… she wasn’t lying to me?” Chi Yang’s lashes lifted slightly, and in that moment, the image of Pei Jiuyao’s tenderness from earlier resurfaced in her mind. Her expression slowly softened.
“But someone like Pei Jiuyao…”
Ying Ning swallowed the word scum before it escaped her lips.
Chi Yang was from the industry. She knew Pei Jiuyao’s reputation better than anyone.
But as a doctor, and given Chi Yang’s fragile condition, Ying Ning genuinely hoped she could maintain a positive relationship with Pei Jiuyao.
After a moment’s thought, Ying Ning added:
“Today, Pei Jiuyao showed territorial instincts toward me—a ‘pack leader’ level reaction. I honestly thought she was going to rip me apart.”
She bit her lip unconsciously. “You know what that means. That kind of reaction only happens after an Alpha marks an Omega for the first time. And… she clearly has feelings for you.”
The word feelings made Chi Yang’s lashes tremble. Her heart began to race. Her mind echoed with Pei Jiuyao’s soft whisper in her ear:
“Don’t be afraid.”
Her pale, slender fingers suddenly clenched the collar of her hospital gown. Her voice turned sharp as she cut off Ying Ning:
“Impossible.”
Impossible that she’d have feelings for her. Impossible that it was her first time marking someone.
Ying Ning’s tone turned firm. “I’ve told you everything. What happens next between you and Pei Jiuyao… that’s up to you.”
As the two spoke, they suddenly heard commotion outside the door.
It sounded like Pei Jiuyao—arguing with someone.
Chi Yang glanced at the door, then quickly tossed aside the blanket and got out of bed.
