- Chapter 8 - Want to Kiss?
Pei Jiuyao drove to the same address as before and opened the door using the access code Chi Yang had sent her.
The apartment was pitch dark. Outside the large floor-to-ceiling window, a round, bright moon looked like a stamped seal on the glass. Its golden light spilled inside, casting a layer of gold foil across the tiled floor.
Pei Jiuyao took off her shoes and stepped barefoot onto the cool tiles. She called softly, “Chi Yang?”
A dim light glowed faintly from the bedroom. She followed the light and gently pushed open the half-closed door.
Chi Yang was lying in bed wearing a burgundy camisole nightdress that made her skin appear as white as porcelain. Under the soft nightlight, her figure shimmered like moonlight on water.
Clutching her blanket, her cheeks and the corners of her eyes were tinted with a seductive blush. Her light brown eyes stared blankly at Pei Jiuyao, her voice clear yet soft: “You’re here?”
“Ugh… I feel awful…” Chi Yang rolled on the bed, her hair slightly messy, toes curling on top of the blanket.
Noticing Pei Jiuyao’s gaze lingering on her feet, Chi Yang quickly pulled them under the covers, eyelashes dropping slightly.
“No looking,” she murmured coyly, hiding half her face in the pillow.
Pei Jiuyao quietly gathered the syringe and medication into a special disposal bag and asked gently, “Did you inject the suppressant?”
Chi Yang seemed sluggish, thinking for a moment before replying, “I gave myself two shots… but… mm, it didn’t help much.”
Then she added, “It’s your fault. If you hadn’t marked me… maybe it would’ve worked a little.”
“Mm, my fault,” Pei Jiuyao said, kneeling beside the bed and lightly patting her shoulder. “So, what do you want me to do?”
Chi Yang sniffled, her brows furrowing suddenly. She feebly pushed Pei Jiuyao with her fingers, murmuring, “Why does your pheromone smell… so bad? Like smoke. I don’t like you anymore.”
Pei Jiuyao paused, sniffed her own collar, and comforted her, “I’ll take a quick shower. Give me ten minutes.”
Chi Yang nodded from under the covers, only her flushed ears peeking out.
Pei Jiuyao left her smoky clothes outside, grabbed a bathrobe, and headed into the shower.
When she came out, Chi Yang was still curled under the blanket in the same position. Her skin was even redder, eyes brimming with tears.
“You’re late,” Chi Yang whispered, her voice completely stripped of its usual coolness—now soft, spoiled.
Pei Jiuyao had actually arrived earlier than planned but needed a few extra minutes to blow-dry her hair. She silently vowed: Next time, take the shower first.
Because facing those watery, accusing eyes—was enough to make her feel completely guilty.
She tied her hair back, sat on the bed, and brushed the damp strands from Chi Yang’s forehead. “What do you want me to do?”
Chi Yang gazed at her with dazed eyes and murmured, “Hold me first…”
Pei Jiuyao’s heart skipped. She gently peeled back the blanket, and since Chi Yang didn’t resist, she placed her hand on her shoulder and pulled her into an embrace.
Instantly, a soft, warm body filled her arms. The rich scent of strawberries mixed with alcohol filled the air.
Chi Yang’s silky hair brushed Pei Jiuyao’s cheek like animal fur.
Pei Jiuyao nudged her head with her nose, arms gradually tightening.
Chi Yang leaned against her, knees nudging up to Pei Jiuyao’s waist. Her face was full of shyness, ears burning red.
Pei Jiuyao’s heart pounded erratically, her gaze slightly dazed.
There had been plenty of Omega pheromones in the bar, yet none had affected her. But the moment she smelled Chi Yang’s, her chest felt like it might explode. Her canines extended, and her eyes flushed red.
So sweet. So soft. So tempting.
But Chi Yang said nothing, so Pei Jiuyao didn’t dare move. She only extended her tongue and lightly licked Chi Yang’s flushed ear.
A soft moan escaped from Chi Yang. Her hair brushed Pei Jiuyao’s neck, sending tingles through her skin.
After a long moment, Chi Yang pulled away and flopped back onto the pillow. She commanded softly, “Get up here.”
Obediently, Pei Jiuyao took off her slippers and climbed onto the bed, sitting beside her.
Chi Yang turned slightly, her misty eyes locked onto Pei Jiuyao. Her voice was honey-sweet: “I want to smell your pheromone.”
Pei Jiuyao removed her scent blocker bracelet. She wasn’t very good at controlling her pheromones yet, so she rubbed her nape with her fingers.
A cool forest-snow scent slowly blended with the sweet strawberry fizz.
Chi Yang bit her lip, breathing shallowly. Her fingers clenched the sheets, and her lip began to bleed from the pressure.
Pei Jiuyao’s eyes darkened. She pried Chi Yang’s lips apart with her fingers, wiped away the bl00d with a tissue, and gently chided, “Don’t bite.”
Chi Yang parted her lips, dazed for a few seconds. A muffled moan slipped out, eyes brimming with tears.
Pei Jiuyao felt her heart explode like a firework.
She leaned down, brushing Chi Yang’s cheek with her fingers. The soft texture seemed to travel straight to her nerves.
“Do you want to kiss?” Pei Jiuyao asked, lowering her head.
Chi Yang didn’t answer. So Pei Jiuyao leaned closer.
Just as their lips were about to meet, Chi Yang turned her head. Pei Jiuyao’s warm lips landed on her burning cheek instead.
Chi Yang clenched the bedsheet tightly, voice soft: “No kissing.”
“Okay.” Pei Jiuyao kissed her cheek again, then her earlobe.
Chi Yang, a little unsatisfied, hooked her arms around Pei Jiuyao’s neck and muttered, “Why are you so weak?”
Pei Jiuyao chuckled helplessly and kissed her neck deeply.
Chi Yang let out a sharp gasp. Her neck turned crimson as her arms tightened around Pei Jiuyao’s neck.
Pei Jiuyao’s raspy, teasing voice whispered near her ear, “Chi Yang, your skin is so thin.”
Then she bit gently behind her ear, where a small red mole sat, grinding her canines against it.
Chi Yang struggled, but Pei Jiuyao held her firmly by the waist.
Chi Yang eventually gave up, one hand around Pei Jiuyao’s neck, the other weakly pressing against the back of her head.
Pei Jiuyao couldn’t help but laugh. “You like it when I bite you, don’t you?”
Chi Yang tried to act fierce, her voice sticky: “Shut up.”
Pei Jiuyao nipped her earlobe again, licked it softly, pushed aside Chi Yang’s damp hair, and asked gently, “Do you want a temporary mark?”
Chi Yang shivered, yanked her robe, and the strap snapped loose. The fabric crumpled against her like crushed red wine.
She turned over, exposing her nape, burying her face in the pillow.
Pei Jiuyao wrapped one arm around her and placed the other on her smooth, pale shoulder.
Chi Yang had a lovely figure—slim and delicate. Her shoulder blades jutted slightly, like wings about to break free.
Pei Jiuyao traced the bones with her fingers, imagining translucent wings emerging.
She bared her canines and gently sank them into the reddened gland.
Cool pheromones seeped from her teeth, entering Chi Yang’s body. The strawberry scent grew overwhelming, the trembling body in her arms unable to calm down, breathy moans intensifying.
Senses heightened. The world around them faded. It felt like only the two of them remained.
Pei Jiuyao let her robe slip down, her slender fingers sliding beneath the burgundy satin, pressing into the dip of Chi Yang’s waist.
Then she chuckled lowly, biting Chi Yang’s earlobe: “I remember… right here.”
Chi Yang turned to look at her, stunned by her playful grin. Her misty eyes narrowed. “Don’t use the same tricks on me that you use on other Omegas.”
“I don’t!” Pei Jiuyao looked aggrieved. “There are no other Omegas.”
Chi Yang was momentarily dazed. Her fingers, unconsciously, hooked around Pei Jiuyao’s neck again.
Pei Jiuyao lifted her slightly by the waist and whispered by her ear, “It’s only ever been you.”
Chi Yang felt like a porcelain bottle wrapped in satin—fragile, precious.
Beneath her lay a bed of crushed strawberries, intoxicating alcohol, dangerous poison—the apple of Eve.
Endless kisses fell on her neck, filled with fevered desire and possessiveness.
Chi Yang shuddered, tears streaming silently down her cheeks into her hair as Pei Jiuyao tore her open, completely, without resistance.
She’d thought she didn’t trust Pei Jiuyao.
But when Pei Jiuyao whispered hoarsely, “It’s only ever been you,” her heart betrayed her.
Lights blurred into rainbows. Pei Jiuyao’s shallow breaths echoed in Chi Yang’s ears.
Crisp pheromones spread, strong yet gentle arms held her close. Her canines grazed that red mole, a tingling sensation climbing her spine.
Above them, a mottled rain fell. Beneath them, mud clung to bare skin. Steam clung to the nightlight’s glass like melting wax.
The moon burned in the firelight—and was consumed by it.
Dawn began to break. The rain stopped. A passionate summer night melted into the scent of early autumn.
Pei Jiuyao and Chi Yang held each other tightly. Under the soft light, Chi Yang’s misted eyes sparkled like stars falling into the sea. Pei Jiuyao couldn’t help but kiss her again.
Chi Yang leaned into her, toes curled on her calf, eyes closing.
She fell asleep quickly, nestled against Pei Jiuyao’s shoulder—obedient and gentle, so unlike her usual cool self. It stirred a fierce protectiveness.
Pei Jiuyao stroked her head, and Chi Yang gave a contented hum, snuggling closer.
Holding her, Pei Jiuyao slipped into a bath. Chi Yang didn’t wake, still clinging to her. Her fingers roamed idly and accidentally brushed Pei Jiuyao’s chest, which earned a chuckle and a firm press down.
Her hand obediently settled on Pei Jiuyao’s shoulder, leaving faint red scratch marks behind.
