After Transmigrating, I Bent the Female Lead O - Chapter 13
For a long time, the trend in the domestic entertainment industry was talent shows and group debuts. Direct debuts without accumulated popularity were rare, requiring exceptional skill to build a fanbase.
When the project plan was being formulated, the vice president had asked He Lingxing if she wanted to consider a talent show like before. After all, their company’s previous show groups, while not wildly popular, had been decent, even moderately successful for a period.
He Lingxing rejected that suggestion without a second thought.
In the original plot, these girls came from talent shows. But before the company’s internal culture was thoroughly cleaned up, they would likely encounter the malicious intentions of those lurking in the shadows.
If it were a talent show, with a large influx of people, He Lingxing wouldn’t have the time to monitor each individual, and things could become much more chaotic than they were now. The major event that led to the company’s bankruptcy in the original book began brewing around this time, so she had to be vigilant.
The twin-tailed girl staring at her was Le Jiaxuan. Her beautiful and sweet appearance made her look very young. Her actual age was just eighteen, and she was said to have recently completed her differentiation.
Initially, He Lingxing thought Le Jiaxuan was looking at her because she wanted to strike up a conversation, but Le Jiaxuan simply approached, asked two questions, and then left.
“CEO He, are you an Omega?” The girl’s smile was pure and sweet.
Upon receiving an affirmative answer, Le Jiaxuan’s smile widened, revealing two adorable, pointed canine teeth: “CEO He smells so good, like peach blossoms blooming out of season in winter.”
In this world, such a compliment to an Omega would mostly be a show of favor to the opposite s3x, but Le Jiaxuan’s eyes held only pure admiration, without any ulterior motives. After speaking, she returned to her small group, a little embarrassed.
He Lingxing didn’t mind, simply gave a few instructions to the instructor watching them, and left. After all, she wasn’t from a singing and dancing background. She could only supervise from the sidelines. The newly selected instructors this time had all been personally vetted by her, so she assumed there wouldn’t be any major issues with their character.
But returning to the office and sitting in front of her computer, after finishing a music album contract, a sense of disorientation returned to her mind.
Her memory cortex was filled with Le Jiaxuan’s smile, but the smile itself wasn’t distinct; it seemed to gradually overlap with someone else’s.
Actually, Le Jiaxuan’s appearance did somewhat resemble Shu Minglan’s; both had pure yet alluring, sweet yet cool looks, perfectly capable of handling various styles. Shu Minglan’s figure was also excellent. If not for her Omega physique, which might be slightly lacking, she would actually be quite suitable for shining on stage.
She hadn’t seen Shu Minglan for days, and she wondered when she would return and when the next crucial plot development would unfold.
In a trance, she unconsciously opened a short video app on her computer. After typing “Shu Minglan” into the search bar, a pile of lukewarm edited videos popped up.
#Pure and Alluring: On the Photographic Expression of First Love Goddess Shu Minglan#
#Hidden Gem of National First Love, Chinese Style Beauty, 120-second No Heartbeat Challenge, Are You Ready?#
#Discover a Niche Treasure! Shu Minglan is Truly Amazing! Qi Yao, Lin Yuguan, Su Nian, Mu Yunchen…#
#Beauty Like a Flower Across the Clouds, Beauty Mashup – Shu Minglan Chapter#
He Lingxing clicked on the third video, a compilation of characters Shu Minglan had played, and suddenly remembered that her resources had always been mediocre. At least, most of the time, she played supporting roles or second female leads. Although her acting skills were more than sufficient, she rarely got lead female roles.
The first scene to appear was from an ancient costume drama. Shu Minglan, as a “dancer” in elaborate attire, wore a white veil, her beautiful face faintly visible, revealing only a pair of tender, affectionate eyes filled with shyness, like black ink pearls.
The edited shots showed the woman’s brilliant and passionate dance. She was imitating the exotic Hu Xuan dance, with golden bells jingling at her ankles. The next moment, Shu Minglan’s originally gentle gaze suddenly changed; the soft spring water instantly froze, and a long sword swiftly flashed out of its sheath!
It was an action scene that would make every audience member cheer with excitement.
Amateurs watch the spectacle, while professionals watch the technique. He Lingxing had studied judo and practiced martial arts, so she could tell that Shu Minglan must have intentionally practiced before. Every move and stance had a subtle charm that couldn’t be imitated by simple learning.
It was much harder for Omegas, with their relatively weaker bodies, to learn martial arts compared to Alphas and Betas. Yet, Shu Minglan’s action scenes were no less impressive than many others. Diligent people always earned others’ admiration. He Lingxing rubbed her temples, beginning to recall the resources allocated to Shu Minglan.
However, her thoughts were soon interrupted by a phone call.
“Mom—?”
In the original owner’s memories, contact with family wasn’t frequent. He Lingxing paused upon hearing the voice before realizing it was her nominal mother. The woman’s clear voice came from the other end of the phone. Despite the long absence of contact, there was no hint of concern for her.
“Xingxing, your Aunt Yu’s younger sister is arriving in Jiangcheng tonight, around 8:25 PM. Drive to pick her up and bring her home.”
The woman’s tone was matter-of-fact, suggesting a good relationship between the two families. But He Lingxing, adhering to the original owner’s personality, couldn’t break character. She deliberately paused before impatiently replying:
“Don’t we have a driver at home? Do I really have to go?”
“Just go. Consider it bonding time, haven’t you not seen her in a long time?” He’s mother, accustomed to her attitude, softened her voice slightly. “She just returned from studying abroad and specifically came to visit you. At least be nicer to her.”
“Got it!”
Excluding occasional malicious acts, the original owner’s personality was essentially that of a bad-tempered young lady. After a fierce reply, she hung up the phone.
Her memory of that person was a bit hazy, only remembering that they played well together as children but had gone their separate ways for quite some time.
She definitely had to do a good job with what she agreed to. After receiving the other person’s WeChat message and asking about their preferences, He Lingxing took some time to book a private room at a five-star restaurant, completely unaware that her mother, after hanging up, was also wondering why her daughter was so easy to talk to this time.
••••
The evening breeze was still a bit cool, but He Lingxing was only wearing a thin khaki trench coat. Her clean, crisp white shirt and jeans made her waist appear slender and her legs straight.
The plane hadn’t arrived yet. People at the airport came and went with their luggage, creating a noisy, chaotic sound. He Lingxing didn’t arrive early; the plane was due in a few minutes, so she didn’t go to the VIP lounge to wait.
She opened her OA, preparing to use the brief time to process some aggregated reports, when a pair of fair hands covered her eyes, leaving a slight distance from her skin.
Along with the leaning motion came an extremely faint cherry blossom scent and a familiar voice. This time, Shu Minglan was not wary as before, her voice tinged with a hint of joy:
“I didn’t expect to see you here.” The woman’s voice was soft and pleasant. “That invitation for dinner… can you fulfill it now?”
