After Transmigrating, I Lived with the Charismatic/Beloved Female Lead - Chapter 31
Chapter 31
“Wei Yue, you can’t sleep anymore, wake up.”
The sound of the bed frame being tapped, accompanied by Lu Yuanqiu’s slightly raised voice, woke Wei Yue from her slumber. She mumbled, “Hmm, Lu Yuanqiu, what are you doing… my alarm hasn’t gone off yet…”
Hearing this, Lu Yuanqiu let out a soft sigh: “Did you forget to set your alarm? The military training review is being held today, and we need to arrive half an hour earlier than usual.”
“Half an hour earlier…” Wei Yue, still groggy, repeated the phrase, her brain slowly catching up.
She suddenly flipped upright and saw Lu Yuanqiu standing below her bed, already fully dressed and even wearing light makeup. She looked lively, befitting a student, yet her inherent demeanor added a touch of grace and nobility.
Meeting Wei Yue’s gaze, she curved her lips and said in a rare, cheerful voice, “Yes, we have 20 minutes left until the assembly time we discussed yesterday. You should still make it if you get up now.”
Wei Yue: “…”
She scrambled out of bed instantly.
Another week had passed. Thanks to the massive life value reward from the Main Mission, Wei Yue was enjoying a brief reprieve—she didn’t have to be overly anxious about her life value for now.
In this state, her interactions with Lu Yuanqiu had entered a “stable period.”
Compared to the beginning, Wei Yue could now confidently say that their relationship had genuinely deepened.
For example, that slightly gleeful look on Lu Yuanqiu’s face just now was something few people ever saw.
Wei Yue quickly brushed her teeth and washed her face at the dorm sink, while silently complaining internally. She thought Lu Yuanqiu must have a bit of mischievousness in her character, otherwise, why would she always tease her!
Although she initially approached the female lead, Lu Yuanqiu, as the “villainess side character” to earn more life value, the current state of their relationship felt quite positive.
Lu Yuanqiu was exceptionally beautiful, her personality was gentle yet not overly constrained, she was extremely capable, and she didn’t put on airs. Being roommates with such a person… this must be the dream of countless college students!
“Lu Yuanqiu, how much time is left?” Wei Yue patted a layer of lotion onto her face, asking.
Lu Yuanqiu, sitting on her chair, checked her phone: “15 minutes. As long as there aren’t too many people waiting for the school bus, we should make it without being late.”
“Okay, okay, I’m done!”
Wei Yue’s movements were even faster. She finished her simple skincare routine in a flash, rushed to the bathroom to change into her military uniform, and declared anxiously.
Compared to her hastiness, Lu Yuanqiu was much calmer, even reminding Wei Yue that her hair hadn’t been fully tucked into her military cap.
Fortunately, the queue for the school bus wasn’t long. When the two of them arrived at the assembly point for the School of Finance outside the central playground, it was exactly 7:30, the assembly time.
As students undergoing follow-up training, Wei Yue and Lu Yuanqiu didn’t have to participate in the final review. However, K University required all freshmen in follow-up training to attend to enhance management and participation, watching the others march in formation from the stands inside the central playground.
“But the stands don’t even have any shade… can we sneak out?”
Wei Yue sat in the stands, her expression heavy.
Even though K City had entered early autumn, the temperature showed no signs of decreasing for the time being. The central playground stands were open-air. After only a short while in the stands, a thin layer of sweat appeared on Wei Yue’s forehead.
Each school sat in a fixed location, and the School of Finance’s spot was directly in the sun. If they left without permission and were discovered, their military training credit might be jeopardized.
Lu Yuanqiu sat on the step above Wei Yue, and her situation wasn’t much better.
Hearing Wei Yue’s complaint, she pondered for a moment, opened her phone, tapped the screen, and after a brief wait, poked Wei Yue’s back with her fingertip, then held up her phone, signaling the other party to check the message.
It’s too sunny here. There’s a way to leave. Want to try?
Wei Yue completely trusted Lu Yuanqiu. Moreover, she was desperate to leave this “fiery” place and immediately replied with an “Okay.”
After replying, she reached back and lightly scratched the spot Lu Yuanqiu’s finger had touched, feeling a slight tickle.
At Lu Yuanqiu’s suggestion, Wei Yue got up and followed her away from the stands, even leaving the central playground.
It wasn’t until she saw Jiang Yun-juan standing under a tree that her confusion intensified.
“Student Lu, Student Wei! Over here!” Jiang Yun-juan waved vigorously, looking somewhat excited.
“I’m really sorry to trouble you, but my physical condition might not handle prolonged exposure to such intense sunlight. After thinking about it, I realized I probably had to come to you,” Lu Yuanqiu maintained her usual gentle demeanor, speaking softly to Jiang Yun-juan.
Wei Yue, standing behind her, felt that Jiang Yun-juan’s eyes were practically sparkling as she looked at Lu Yuanqiu. Jiang Yun-juan quickly replied, “Student Lu, you’re too polite! Taking care of a classmate’s health is only natural! Plus, we’re classmates!”
Wei Yue: “…”
Why does Jiang Yun-juan’s attitude feel so enthusiastic, even warmer than the sun in the sky!
“As the Military Training Reporter, Student Jiang can move freely in and out of various locations on campus, and other military training reporters will also be monitoring the situation at the central playground,” Lu Yuanqiu explained to Wei Yue after greeting Jiang Yun-juan. “If the counselor starts taking attendance, she can quickly receive news. And if we’re unlucky enough to be caught, she can use the excuse of an interview to vouch for us.”
“Yes, yes, Student Wei, don’t worry! I know you and Student Lu are together!” Jiang Yun-juan nodded obediently.
Wei Yue was silent for a moment before finally replying with a smile: “Okay, thank you then.”
However, although her confusion was resolved, a strange feeling of discomfort welled up inside her.
For the past half-month, from waking up in the morning, going to follow-up training, eating, and returning to the dorm to rest, Lu Yuanqiu and I have been inseparable. When did she get so familiar with Jiang Yun-juan?
But both Lu Yuanqiu and Jiang Yun-juan had good intentions. Moreover, her line of thought sounded utterly bizarre, so Wei Yue naturally couldn’t show any negative emotions on her face.
“Then let’s go sit in the coffee shop nearby for a while. It’s only the leaders’ speech segment now; we still have quite some time,” Jiang Yun-juan suggested.
On the way to the coffee shop, Wei Yue held back again and again, but finally couldn’t resist opening her mouth: “Lu Yuanqiu, how… how did you think of this idea?”
Lu Yuanqiu took Wei Yue’s question as a simple topic for conversation and said frankly, “It was a spontaneous idea, honestly. Besides the reasons I already gave, there’s also the fact that both you and I have interactions with Student Jiang.”
“If it were just me, I might have just endured it,” Lu Yuanqiu said, closing her eyes and smiling as if remembering something. “But since you also wanted to leave, we could ‘cooperate’ one more time.”
Wei Yue: “I-I see…”
She thought of Jiang Yun-juan because she considered me…
Thinking this, Wei Yue unconsciously and awkwardly ran her hand through her long hair.
She was amazed to find that after Lu Yuanqiu said those words, her previously uncomfortable feelings suddenly subsided.
However, before she could analyze her change in emotions, Jiang Yun-juan’s exclamation interrupted her thoughts again.
Jiang Yun-juan pointed to a display board, which advertised the freshman welcome party for the nearby School of Business Administration: “Oh, right! I almost forgot to mention! Finance is having a freshman welcome party this year too!”
Freshman welcome parties were organized individually by each school and didn’t happen every year.
For example, the School of Finance had only held grade meetings for the past two years.
But a welcome party didn’t seem to concern them much. Wei Yue was momentarily confused by Jiang Yun-juan’s excitement.
She turned to look at Lu Yuanqiu beside her and noticed that the other party’s expression was slightly strained, clearly aware of the welcome party’s existence.
But Jiang Yun-juan was quicker. She practically bounced in front of Wei Yue and Lu Yuanqiu, saying with heartfelt emphasis and cadence: “Student Wei, Student Lu, every class must contribute a performance for the welcome party! Our class is tentatively planning a play! I hope you two can participate!”
