After Transmigrating Into a Book, I Was Forced to Play the Role of a Scumbag Alpha (GL) - Chapter 12
Chapter 12
After carrying the little girl upstairs, Shen Hanzhi grabbed a tablet and randomly selected a Peppa Pig cartoon for her to watch. The little girl looked at Shen Hanzhi and mumbled aggrievedly, “Sister, I’m not a little kid.”
She actually wanted to keep watching the drama from earlier, but the little girl didn’t dare say so, as the scenes on the TV had been quite embarrassing.
So, Shen Hanzhi made her watch Peppa Pig for most of the day. Then the little girl noticed that Sister was watching more eagerly than she was. Was it really Sister who wanted to watch it?
They had eaten too much for breakfast and couldn’t manage lunch. Shen Hanzhi called downstairs, telling the two aunts not to prepare lunch for her and Wen Jin. She asked them to bring up a large plate of yogurt salad for them to share.
Soon, Yang Man brought up the salad. Shen Hanzhi and Wen Jin sat on chairs in the room, eating the salad while the tablet in front of them played Peppa Pig.
The little girl rarely got to drink yogurt. Aunt Liu’s family was not well-off; her daughter attended a private special education school, and the yearly tuition drained all of Aunt Liu’s savings. The fact that Aunt Liu secretly supported her and sometimes brought her milk made Wen Jin very grateful.
Without Aunt Liu, Wen Jin was certain that if she had died in that attic, the Wen family wouldn’t have cared. She had long given up on her father.
Seeing that the little girl seemed to like yogurt, Shen Hanzhi said softly, “If you like it, I’ll have them make it for you often.”
“I like it,” Wen Jin said, looking up at Shen Hanzhi with a smile, then eating several lychees in a row.
The little girl felt sweetness in her heart. From the first day when she was at a loss, to now, she felt an inexplicable sense of ease. If only she could stay like this with Sister forever. The little girl smiled sweetly, scooped up more fruit from the plate with her spoon, and ate.
At noon, Shen Hanzhi changed the bandage on the little girl’s heel. After a night’s rest, the wound had healed significantly, with some areas already scabbing.
“Rest for a bit. Around two o’clock, we’ll go shopping together,” Shen Hanzhi said gently.
The little girl glanced at the clock on the wall, her bright eyes dimming. She had little concept of time. In the attic, she only knew day was when it was light and night was when it was dark, but she didn’t know specific times since there was no clock in her room.
Thinking of Shen Hanzhi’s kindness, the little girl tentatively reached out and held Shen Hanzhi’s wrist, “Sister, can you teach me to read the clock?”
Seeing the little girl call her softly, Shen Hanzhi sat back on the bed and explained patiently, “A day has 24 hours. Look at the small marks on the clock; there are twelve. When the short hand moves one full circle, that’s 12 hours…”
Since the little girl couldn’t read, Shen Hanzhi could only explain roughly. She decided to start teaching her basic counting later. The Wen family had truly harmed the little girl, locking her in that cramped attic for over a decade, leaving her as innocent as a child.
Wen Jin stared at the clock for a long time, still struggling to remember. Her eyes dropped slightly, feeling guilty. Sister had explained for so long, but she still didn’t understand some parts.
Shen Hanzhi noticed the little girl’s disappointment, gently rubbed the top of her head, and said softly, “This afternoon, I’ll teach you to count. Once you learn, you’ll understand the clock. It’s my fault; pointing and explaining like this is too abstract.”
“It’s not your fault, Sister,” the little girl said, quickly looking up at Shen Hanzhi. It was her own problem; how could she blame Sister?
Seeing the little girl’s soft demeanor, Shen Hanzhi reached out and poked the dimple on her right cheek, smiling, “Our Little Jin is so cute, with a little dimple. Don’t think about unhappy things, okay? I promise you’ll learn all this quickly. We already learned how to use the TV this morning, right?”
Wen Jin nodded obediently but barely paid attention to what Shen Hanzhi was saying. When she saw Shen Hanzhi touching her dimple, her ears turned red, forgetting her earlier disappointment. She sneaked a glance at Shen Hanzhi. Did Sister like her dimple?
The little girl didn’t dare speak or keep staring at Shen Hanzhi. Her hands fidgeted together, waiting obediently for Shen Hanzhi’s next move.
Shen Hanzhi just wanted the little girl to relax a bit. Seeing she seemed better, her right index finger habitually brushed the little girl’s dimple once more before reluctantly pulling back. Their Little Jin, worthy of being the female lead, even had such a cute dimple.
“Learn a little each day, and you’ll master these things soon. We’re not in a rush. Rest well now, and I’ll come get you later,” Shen Hanzhi said, pinching the little girl’s palm and coaxing her softly. Seeing no trace of unhappiness on her face, she stood up and left.
After Shen Hanzhi left, the little girl felt the spot where Shen Hanzhi had pinched her hand burning, and her right dimple felt itchy. She rolled into the quilt, thinking of how it felt when Shen Hanzhi touched her, her face blushing red with shyness.
Then the little girl recalled the scenes from the TV that morning. The two women in the drama must be a couple, just like her and Sister. That meant Sister would kiss her like that in the future?
Just thinking about it, the little girl melted onto the bed, her heart full of sweetness, her mind filled with Shen Hanzhi’s gentle smiles and words.
