After Transmigrating Into a Book, I Was Forced to Play the Role of a Scumbag Alpha (GL) - Chapter 16
Chapter 16
Shen Hanzhi completely did not know someone targeted her. She just finished making ice cream and handed a cup to the little girl. “It’s a bit cold. Try it and see if it tastes good.”
The little girl took a bite, and her eyes lit up. “It’s strawberry! It’s cold and really tasty.”
She ate strawberries before. In winter, when strawberries were cheaper, Aunt Liu sometimes saved a little money to buy her strawberries once or twice. She actually loved strawberries but feared Aunt Liu would spend too much. She only said she didn’t like them much. But Aunt Liu always bought her some every winter, saying it was good to taste them.
The little girl ate a few more bites. She timidly glanced at the orange-yellow ice cream in Shen Hanzhi’s hand and pursed her lips slightly. She was curious about Sister’s flavor but feared if she took some, Sister would be unhappy. The little girl didn’t dare reach out.
Shen Hanzhi saw the little girl eyeing her portion and chuckled lightly. She scooped a spoonful and brought it to the little girl’s lips.
Wen Jin didn’t expect Shen Hanzhi to feed her. She froze and looked at Shen Hanzhi with some confusion.
“Try mine and see if it tastes good,” Shen Hanzhi said, smiling at the little girl.
The little girl, with red ear tips, took a bite. It was a flavor she never tasted before!
“Sister, what flavor is this? It’s tasty,” the little girl mumbled.
“This is mango flavor. I’ll have someone buy some mangoes later. Fresh ones taste even better,” Shen Hanzhi said, wiping the little girl’s mouth with a tissue.
Xi Meng was still walking toward them. Seeing Shen Hanzhi care for this Omega so gently, she had a shocked expression. When did Shen Hanzhi become so considerate?
Zhang Luyue also noticed and whispered to Xi Meng beside her, “Did I see wrong? Is that Shen Hanzhi?”
Xi Meng saw it too and glared at her friend. Feeling a bit indignant, she quickened her pace forward and shouted, “President Shen, what a coincidence! Are you shopping here too?”
Shen Hanzhi looked up to see who called her. She thought for a few seconds before recognizing the person. This was one of the original body’s little lovers, someone with a sweet tongue. The original body always liked bringing her along when going out to drink. But after Shen Hanzhi transmigrated, she ignored these people completely.
“Hmm,” Shen Hanzhi nodded slightly, glancing at Xi Meng.
Wen Jin stiffened. Her gaze shifted to Xi Meng, then fixed on Shen Hanzhi. She pursed her lips nervously, and the joy of eating ice cream vanished completely.
Xi Meng never once looked directly at Wen Jin. She stepped closer to Shen Hanzhi, playfully linking her arm with Shen Hanzhi’s. “President Shen, what have you been busy with these days? Why haven’t you called me to go drinking with you?”
Wen Jin saw Xi Meng holding Shen Hanzhi’s arm. Her eyes widened. She wanted to say something but stood rooted to the spot, not daring to speak. Her eyes reddened.
Shen Hanzhi didn’t expect this person to be so familiar. She stepped back, pushing Xi Meng’s hand off her arm, and said coldly, “I’m married. I probably won’t go to bars much anymore. Miss Xi, do as you please. My wife and I have things to do, so we’ll leave first.”
Shen Hanzhi noticed the little girl’s emotions were off. She quickly walked over and led the little girl away by the hand.
Zhang Luyue tugged at Xi Meng and asked in surprise, “Did Shen Hanzhi really get married? I thought it was just a rumor. Is she settling down?”
“No way. When she called me out drinking, I wasn’t the only Omega by her side. Someone like her can’t stand loneliness. Just watch, within a month, she’ll be organizing drinking parties again and calling us to join her. Plus, that Omega by her side looks so innocent—not her type at all. Let’s go,” Xi Meng said confidently.
Shen Hanzhi led the little girl a distance. Seeing the little girl’s eyes red, she asked softly, “What’s wrong? Are you mad at me?”
Wen Jin shook her head, refusing to look at Shen Hanzhi. She walked forward sulkily on her own. What was that woman’s relationship with Sister? Why was she so intimate, holding Sister’s arm?
Just thinking about it made her heart ache with sourness. Her eyes felt sour too, but she held back tears. If she kept crying, wouldn’t Sister think she was too delicate? She didn’t want to go anywhere now. She just wanted to go home—to the home she shared with Sister.
“Sister, I’m a bit tired. I want to go home,” Wen Jin said, staring down at the strawberry ice cream in her hand, not daring to look at Shen Hanzhi.
“Okay, let’s go back to eat and stop shopping,” Shen Hanzhi replied quickly, leading the little girl to the elevator straight to the underground parking lot.
On the way back, the little girl was much quieter. She just held her ice cream and ate, barely talking to Shen Hanzhi.
Shen Hanzhi looked at the mango ice cream in her hand, feeling puzzled. Little Bunny changed after seeing Xi Meng and the others. Was she jealous? But Little Bunny, raised locked in an attic since childhood, would she even understand jealousy?
Shen Hanzhi didn’t waste her ice cream. She ate while thinking. The mall wasn’t far from the villa in the city center. They reached home in ten minutes. When they got out of the car, Wen Jin lacked energy. She sneaked a glance at Shen Hanzhi and said quickly, “Sister, I’m a bit tired. I’ll go rest in my room first.”
Before Shen Hanzhi could respond, the little girl ran upstairs quickly.
Watching the little girl’s back, Shen Hanzhi shook her head with a wry smile. Little Bunny was quite sensitive. She was definitely upset about Xi Meng. Shen Hanzhi quickened her pace inside, ready to coax Little Bunny.
She reached the second floor and saw the little girl’s door closed. Shen Hanzhi stood outside, listening to the sounds inside. She heard muffled sobs mixed with faint cries.
Shen Hanzhi knocked lightly twice, then turned the doorknob and walked in.
Wen Jin was buried in her bed, crying like a pear blossom in the rain. Seeing Shen Hanzhi enter, she froze, forgetting to react. She kept sniffing, trying not to cry in front of Shen Hanzhi.
Shen Hanzhi hurried over and sat beside Wen Jin. She grabbed a few tissues from the nearby cabinet. One hand lifted the little girl and pulled her into an embrace, while the other wiped her tears with the tissues.
“What’s wrong? Tell me, okay? Is it because of the two Omegas we met while shopping?” Shen Hanzhi asked softly.
The little girl sniffed and buried her face in Shen Hanzhi’s chest, crying even harder.
Shen Hanzhi quickly patted the little girl’s back gently, coaxing softly, “It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have upset Little Jin. Don’t cry, okay?”
The gentler Shen Hanzhi’s voice, the worse Wen Jin felt. She looked up at Shen Hanzhi, sniffing and sobbing, “Sister, you’re my wife. You can’t like other people.”
Shen Hanzhi almost laughed at the little girl’s words but held back, seeing how sadly she cried. She quickly coaxed, “I know. From now on, I’ll stay far from other Omegas, okay? I’ll only like my Little Jin.”
Shen Hanzhi held Wen Jin sideways, but soon her waist felt sore. Seeing the little girl nestled in her arms seemed uncomfortable too, she simply lifted the little girl by her slender waist with both hands, sitting her face-to-face on her lap.
The soft and delicate little girl didn’t even react before she was lifted. Her teary eyes blinked, and her ears and cheeks visibly reddened. No one ever held her like this before.
“Sister?” The little girl’s voice softened even more, half accusing, half coquettish.
