After Transmigrating Into a Book, I Was Forced to Play the Role of a Scumbag Alpha (GL) - Chapter 17
Chapter 17
“Does holding you like that make you uncomfortable? Are you feeling better now?” Shen Hanzhi gently touched the tear stains at the corner of the little girl’s eyes with her fingertips and coaxed her softly.
“Yes.” The little girl leaned into Shen Hanzhi’s arms, sniffled, and responded in a muffled voice. She looked up at Shen Hanzhi, as if afraid someone would steal her candy. In a soft voice, she emphasized again, “Sister, you’re my wife.”
Shen Hanzhi gently patted the little girl’s back and coaxed softly, “Yes, I’m your wife. I’ll stay far from other Omegas from now on and won’t make you angry again, okay?”
“Okay.” The little girl nodded in agreement and buried her face in Shen Hanzhi’s arms. Sister wasn’t angry and even held her on her lap to comfort her. Thinking of this, the little girl felt a bit shy.
“Little Jin, if you have any problems in the future, you can tell me directly. Don’t run back and cry alone, okay? Keeping problems in your heart makes them pile up, but talking about them makes them go away. See, haven’t we cleared things up now?” Shen Hanzhi coaxed while gently stroking the little girl’s back.
“Yes.” The little girl, buried in Shen Hanzhi’s arms, responded softly and mumbled, “I was afraid you’d think I cry too much.”
“No way. My little rabbit is just as cute even with red eyes from crying.” Shen Hanzhi pulled the little girl closer into her arms and gently touched the top of her head.
The little girl seemed comforted by the touch. She closed her eyes, leaning into Shen Hanzhi’s arms, occasionally sneaking a peek at her. Seeing Shen Hanzhi’s gentle eyes, she quietly snuggled closer. Her arms, lightly resting on Shen Hanzhi’s waist, tightened secretly, hugging Shen Hanzhi closely.
Shen Hanzhi noticed the little rabbit’s small movements but only coaxed her with gentle eyes. “Are you thirsty? You’ve cried for so long. Want me to get you some water?”
Then Shen Hanzhi noticed the little rabbit hugged her even tighter. She smoothed the little rabbit’s lower back and soothed softly, “Is my little rabbit so clingy? Do you just want me to hold you?”
The little girl caught the teasing in Shen Hanzhi’s words and felt shy but didn’t want to get up. She liked Sister holding her like this; it made her feel safe.
Seeing the little girl bury her face in her arms like a quail, Shen Hanzhi shook her head with a wry smile. She kept one arm around the little girl’s waist and gently stroked her back with the other. “Alright, if Little Jin doesn’t want me to go, I won’t go. I’ll listen to Little Jin from now on.”
The little girl’s face turned red with shyness. Luckily, she was buried in Sister’s arms, so Sister couldn’t see. Her heart beat faster and faster. This overwhelming, overflowing emotion had no outlet, and just hugging like this didn’t seem enough. She wanted to be even closer to Sister.
But Wen Jin, locked away for too long, didn’t understand these strange emotions. She could only hug Shen Hanzhi tightly. If Aunt Liu were here, she would surely understand, the little girl thought to herself.
After comforting the little girl for a while, Shen Hanzhi felt it was enough. She patted Wen Jin’s back and said softly, “Little Jin, it’s about time. Go wash your face, and we’ll go downstairs to eat. If you want to hug more, we can hug later, okay?”
“Yes.” The little girl mumbled in agreement, reluctantly getting up from Shen Hanzhi’s arms. Her bright eyes looked at Shen Hanzhi, unwilling to look away.
Shen Hanzhi didn’t know why the little rabbit kept staring at her. She smiled wryly, reached out, and gently tapped the little rabbit’s nose. “Alright, I’m not going anywhere. Go wash your face. The little white rabbit has turned into a little flower rabbit.”
“Sister!” The little girl, with red ear tips, got off Shen Hanzhi’s lap and quickly ran into the bathroom. Sister actually called her a little flower rabbit.
The little girl looked at herself in the mirror. She really was a little flower rabbit. She quickly washed her face. When she came out, she saw Shen Hanzhi leaning back on the bed with her arms propped behind her, smiling at her with gentle eyes.
Wen Jin finally met Shen Hanzhi’s gaze. She wanted to run over and hug her but didn’t dare. For a moment, she stood there, unsure of what to do.
Shen Hanzhi beckoned to the timid little rabbit. “Why aren’t you coming over? Let me see if the little rabbit washed her face clean.”
“I washed it clean.” The little girl mumbled, walking to Shen Hanzhi. Her lips curved unconsciously as she looked up at her.
Shen Hanzhi reached out and poked the little girl’s dimple, then stood up with a smile. “Let’s go downstairs to eat.”
The little girl quickly followed, but her heart wondered if Sister wouldn’t hold her today. Then the little rabbit’s face turned red again. She could walk on her own and didn’t need Sister to hold her all the time.
They hadn’t eaten lunch, and after shopping all afternoon, Shen Hanzhi was indeed a bit hungry. Smelling the aroma of food on the table, her appetite grew. She filled several small bowls in front of Wen Jin with various dishes. “Little Jin, take whatever you like boldly. This is our home, so don’t be shy.”
“Okay, thank you, Sister.” The little girl swallowed the meat in her mouth and responded.
As they ate happily, the system in Shen Hanzhi’s mind spoke up at an inopportune moment. The spoon Shen Hanzhi was using to serve soup nearly fell, and some soup spilled out.
The little girl noticed and quickly asked, “Sister, are you okay?”
“I’m fine. I didn’t hold it steady. Eat quickly.”
She comforted the little girl while wiping the spilled soup in front of her. But the system in her mind kept chattering. “Darling, don’t forget your Scum Alpha points. It’s already six in the afternoon. Time is running out for you, darling. If you don’t get Scum Alpha points, the system will eliminate you.”
Shen Hanzhi felt goosebumps from the system’s coy, metallic voice, and her face grew cold. She hadn’t forgotten about it, but with the little white rabbit so soft and sweet, she couldn’t bring herself to be harsh. She subconsciously avoided the issue all day, but the system brought it up now.
Shen Hanzhi didn’t plan to avoid it, but she also didn’t intend to fully obey. She couldn’t treat the little white rabbit like the scumbag in the original story. She could only nitpick on trivial things, so the little girl wouldn’t be too scared. Plus, this way, she could test the system’s limits.
Shen Hanzhi glanced at the little girl discreetly. In the small bowl of kung pao chicken in front of the little girl, the chicken and cucumber were mostly gone, but many carrot pieces remained. Shen Hanzhi had an idea.
