After Transmigrating Into a Book, I Was Forced to Play the Role of a Scumbag Alpha (GL) - Chapter 22
Chapter 22
The group Shen Hanzhi worked for was not far from her villa. The drive took just over ten minutes.
As soon as she got out of the car, Shen Hanzhi received a call from Wen Hengqiu, who kept urging them to visit Rose Manor early.
Shen Hanzhi brushed him off with a few words and quickly hung up. She walked into the house. In the living room, the little rabbit sat obediently in front of the TV, watching an animated movie. Seeing the little girl wasn’t watching anything inappropriate, Shen Hanzhi sighed in relief.
“Little Jin.” Shen Hanzhi called out.
The little girl snapped back to reality. The animated movie wasn’t as interesting as the drama she watched last night, but since Shen Hanzhi had said not to, Wen Jin didn’t dare openly watch that drama. She settled for an animated movie, staring at it absentmindedly.
Seeing Shen Hanzhi return, the little girl’s eyes lit up. Forgetting whether Sister would be upset, she stood up and rushed into Shen Hanzhi’s arms.
Seeing the little rabbit so clingy, Shen Hanzhi’s eyes curved slightly. “Did you eat breakfast obediently?”
“Yes, I ate seafood noodles.” The little girl looked up, her eyes fixed on Shen Hanzhi, as if afraid she’d disappear the next second.
Shen Hanzhi pulled the little rabbit closer into her arms and smiled. “Good. This morning, the company had things to handle. You were still sleeping when I got up, so I didn’t wake you.”
“Sister, can you wake me next time? I want to be the first to say good morning to you.” The little girl snuggled into Shen Hanzhi’s arms, feeling that Sister’s tight embrace still wasn’t enough. She wanted to be even closer.
“Okay, but I want the little rabbit to sleep more.” Shen Hanzhi rubbed the top of the little girl’s head, coaxing softly.
Wen Jin buried her face in Shen Hanzhi’s arms, not wanting to get up. She felt something strange. Back at Rose Manor, she always hoped Aunt Liu would come to the attic to talk or bring food, but that longing seemed different from how she missed Shen Hanzhi. After not seeing Shen Hanzhi all morning, she felt wilted.
Seeing the little rabbit cling to her, Shen Hanzhi rubbed the dimples at her waist and noticed the little rabbit in her arms grew even softer.
Remembering they had to visit Rose Manor, Shen Hanzhi whispered softly in Wen Jin’s ear, “Little Jin, we need to go to Rose Manor at noon. Wen Hengqiu called twice this morning.”
Hearing “Rose Manor,” Wen Jin’s arms around Shen Hanzhi’s waist tightened, hugging her closely. “Sister, can we not go back? I don’t like it there.”
Shen Hanzhi felt the little girl’s tension. She stroked her back gently and soothed, “Don’t be afraid. I’m here. They won’t dare do anything to you. Little Jin, I know they treated you badly before. I’ll protect you and make sure those bad people are punished, okay? Rose Manor is just a property. It shouldn’t be a nightmare that haunts you.”
Wen Jin looked up at Shen Hanzhi. She trusted Sister would protect her, but thinking of her past at Rose Manor made her tremble. She didn’t want to go back, but she wanted to see if Aunt Liu was doing well.
After a long pause, Wen Jin nodded. “Sister, I’ll go back with you.”
“Relax. Think of it as just going for a meal. If you don’t want to eat their food, we’ll go somewhere else to eat afterward.” Shen Hanzhi coaxed softly.
“Okay.” The little girl clung tightly to Shen Hanzhi’s waist and replied.
“Let’s go. We’ll be back for a nap soon.” Shen Hanzhi coaxed for a while, then took the little girl’s hand and led her to the car. This time, Shen Hanzhi brought bodyguards along. Though the Wen family wouldn’t dare do anything, it was better to be prepared.
Wang Haichuan drove in front, followed by a minibus. Zhang Hao led a dozen company bodyguards in the vehicle behind Shen Hanzhi’s car, heading to Rose Manor.
The cars soon reached Rose Manor’s grounds. After passing through the gate, they drove through a large field of rosebushes to reach the villa’s entrance, where Wen Hengqiu and Wu Yan were already waiting.
After getting out, Shen Hanzhi quickly took the little girl’s hand and noticed it was ice-cold and trembling slightly.
Shen Hanzhi squeezed Wen Jin’s hand and soothed softly, “Don’t be afraid. I’m here.”
The little girl, pale-faced, glanced at Shen Hanzhi, her heart calming slightly.
She sneaked a look at Wu Yan’s expression and met Wu Yan’s sharp gaze, startling her. She stepped back, hiding behind Shen Hanzhi.
Wu Yan was pleased with Wen Jin’s reaction. So what if she married Shen Hanzhi? Wasn’t she still a dog the Wen family discarded?
Wu Yan forced a smile and said familiarly, “Little Jin, you’re too reserved. Why be afraid in your own home?”
“Yes, Hanzhi, who are the people in the car behind you?” Wen Hengqiu asked with an awkward smile.
Shen Hanzhi wrapped her arm around the little girl’s slim waist, pulling her closer, and smiled casually. “They’re my bodyguards. Don’t mind them. I’m particular about security and usually bring bodyguards wherever I go. It’s not aimed at you. Uncle, Aunt, you don’t mind, do you?”
Wen Hengqiu forced a smile. “Of course not. With your family’s large business, bringing bodyguards is a good habit.”
He quickly instructed the butler standing nearby, “Hurry and arrange for Hanzhi’s bodyguards and driver to have lunch.”
“Yes, sir. I’ll arrange it now.” The butler promptly led Shen Hanzhi’s bodyguards and driver inside.
Wen Hengqiu smiled and stepped forward. “Hanzhi, Little Jin, let’s go in early. The kitchen has prepared the meal.”
“Alright, we’ll trouble you then.” Shen Hanzhi said, holding the little girl as they entered the first-floor hall.
Rose Manor was moderately sized, with the villa styled in elegant European architecture. Combined with the sprawling rose fields outside, it was indeed a nice place for vacation or relaxation.
But upon entering the first-floor hall, Shen Hanzhi noticed the little girl trembling even more.
Shen Hanzhi’s brows furrowed slightly. Following the little girl’s gaze, she saw several servants standing by the dining table.
Seeing Shen Hanzhi frown, Wen Hengqiu thought she was annoyed with Wen Jin. He had already cursed Wen Jin a thousand times in his heart. His face grew cold, and he scolded, “Little Jin, what are you doing? Acting so timid in your own home? People might think we mistreated you.”
Shen Hanzhi didn’t expect Wen Hengqiu to dare scold Wen Jin in front of her. Her face grew colder, and she clearly felt the little rabbit in her arms trembling.
