After Transmigrating Into a Book, I Was Forced to Play the Role of a Scumbag Alpha (GL) - Chapter 24
Chapter 24
Shen Hanzhi took Wen Jin to the car after leaving the villa’s gate. The bodyguards got into the vehicle behind them, and soon the cars drove away from Rose Manor.
Wen Hengqiu sat on the living room sofa, his teeth nearly grinding to pieces. He had never been so humiliated in his life.
Seeing her father’s bad mood, Wen Xin added fuel to the fire. “Dad, even if our family is struggling, it’s not that bad, right? Shen Hanzhi’s words were so harsh, and you just took it?”
“You think I wanted to endure it? Wen Xin, Wen Kai, you two aren’t kids anymore, especially you, Wen Kai. You’ve graduated college, but all you do is eat and drink. Do you know the Wen Group is really about to collapse, just like Shen Hanzhi said?”
Wen Hengqiu glanced at Wen Xin and Wen Kai, then turned to Wu Yan. “And you, stop thinking about beauty treatments and mahjong all day. If the Wen Group goes bankrupt, you’ll be eating chaff with me.”
Taking a breath, Wen Hengqiu continued to himself, “Wen Jin has some tricks. Shen Hanzhi is so protective of her. If I’d known this would happen, you should’ve treated Wen Jin better back then. Now we’ve completely burned bridges with Shen Hanzhi. Do I really have to sell the house and land?”
“Hengqiu, is it really that serious? Our Wen Group is well-known in Nandu City. How could it collapse so suddenly?” Wu Yan still couldn’t believe it.
“I told you, you wouldn’t understand. The Wen Group has been patching one hole with another. Tell them to fire the servants here at Rose Manor as soon as possible. There’s no money left to pay the company staff, let alone keep so many people here. If it comes to it, we’ll have to do as Shen Hanzhi said. This place is a bit remote, in the suburbs, but it’s large, and with the villa, even if it doesn’t sell for a hundred million, it should fetch eighty or ninety million.” Wen Hengqiu thought it over and said.
“Hengqiu, you’re not joking, are you? If we sell this place, where will we go for vacations?” Wu Yan was unwilling. How could a fine lady like her get used to a frugal life?
“Vacation? Dream on. Get ready to pay debts with me.” Wen Hengqiu said coldly, gritting his teeth.
The servants in the kitchen had finished preparing the meal but, sensing the tense atmosphere in the hall, didn’t dare remind anyone.
Wen Hengqiu smelled the food himself and sighed. “Let’s eat. We might not afford such lavish seafood in the future.”
The meal was very oppressive. Wen Xin, furious, barely ate a few bites before returning to her room.
Meanwhile, Shen Hanzhi and the little girl rode back to the villa together. Yang Man and the others had prepared lunch.
“Let’s go wash our hands and eat.” Shen Hanzhi squeezed the little girl’s palm and said softly.
“Okay, I’m hungry too.” The little girl finally relaxed upon returning to her and Shen Hanzhi’s home. At Rose Manor, she kept recalling bad childhood memories.
Yang Man and the others prepared a lavish lunch. Shen Hanzhi put crab meat and roe into a small bowl for the little girl, making it easy for her to mix with rice.
Wen Jin was noticeably less nervous than before while eating and even dared to serve herself. As she ate, she thought of Aunt Liu and wanted Sister to help find her contact information. But she feared Sister would find her troublesome, so she hesitated to speak.
The little girl ate a few bites, sneaking glances at Shen Hanzhi, and was soon caught.
Shen Hanzhi smiled and looked at the little girl. “Why do you keep sneaking looks at me? Got something to say?”
The little girl nervously swallowed a couple of bites of crab meat before mustering the courage to look at Shen Hanzhi. “Sister, can you help me find Aunt Liu’s contact information? She took care of me at Rose Manor, and I miss her a little.”
The little girl’s only longing and concern at Shen Hanzhi’s place was Liu Fang. Without her as a child, Wen Jin might have starved. Compared to the Wen family, Wen Jin felt Liu Fang was her real family.
Shen Hanzhi thought it was something serious. Hearing it was about Liu Fang, she quickly nodded. She had the same idea. The two aunts at home were nice but just honest workers who couldn’t be expected to dote on the little girl. Shen Hanzhi couldn’t always be home due to company matters. Bringing Liu Fang here to work was a good choice, so the little girl would have someone to talk to and not feel lonely.
“I was actually thinking the same thing. Sometimes I have to go to the company, and no one’s home to keep you company. How about bringing Aunt Liu here to stay with you? It’s just work, and I’ll pay her as usual.” Shen Hanzhi said softly, seeing the little girl’s calm eyes light up instantly.
“Really, Sister?” The little girl looked at Shen Hanzhi with starry eyes, making her laugh.
“Of course it’s true. I’ll tell my assistant to handle it soon. Eat up. Feeling better now?” Shen Hanzhi looked at the little rabbit.
The little rabbit nodded obediently and ate a couple more bites of rice.
After lunch, Shen Hanzhi rested on the sofa and told her assistant, Zhou Danqing, about Liu Fang, asking her to find Liu Fang’s contact information and home address by the end of the afternoon and send them to her WeChat.
Seeing Shen Hanzhi on the phone, the little rabbit’s eyes sparkled. She quickly ran upstairs, washed her face, and changed into another little white rabbit nightgown. The store had five or six different ones, and Sister bought them all.
Aunt Yang had washed and dried yesterday’s nightgown. Wanting to make Sister happy for helping with Aunt Liu, the little rabbit chose another new one.
This nightgown’s rabbits were larger than the last, chubby and obediently sprawled across it. With Wen Jin’s fair skin, she looked incredibly cute.
Wen Jin tidied her hair and walked downstairs with a smile, thinking Sister would be happy seeing her like this.
“Sister, look at me.” The little girl called out as soon as she saw Shen Hanzhi’s back downstairs.
Shen Hanzhi turned and saw the little girl in a new little white rabbit nightgown. Her heart softened instantly. An obedient little rabbit like this should be held and petted.
Shen Hanzhi beckoned to the little girl. “Little Jin, come here.”
The little girl obediently sat beside Shen Hanzhi. The next second, she felt herself lifted and placed on Sister’s lap.
