After Transmigrating Into a Book, I Was Forced to Play the Role of a Scumbag Alpha (GL) - Chapter 3
Chapter 3
In the Wen family villa in Nandu City’s villa district, Wen Kai talked with Wen Xin.
The man stood tall with a handsome face. No one would expect him to say such words.
“Good thing Shen Hanzhi took a liking to that useless girl. You dodged a bullet. Do you know what the high society in Nandu City is saying now?” Wen Kai leaned lazily on the sofa and looked at his sister, Wen Xin.
“What are they saying?” Wen Xin glanced at Wen Kai, asking with little interest.
“They say Shen Hanzhi is getting married, so she’ll cause less trouble for others. But get this—they say that useless girl was sold for five million. Shen Hanzhi is such a fool, buying a dummy who can’t even write her own name,” Wen Kai said, laughing so hard tears nearly came to his eyes, as if he heard a great joke.
Wen Xin’s mood lifted too. “Shen Hanzhi is the type to bully men and dominate women. She might even have some twisted hobby of tormenting Omegas. Once Wen Jin goes to her, she probably won’t last a few months before being tortured to death. It’s a fitting end, saving us the trouble of her being an eyesore in the Wen family all these years,” she said.
—
Shen Hanzhi recently wrapped up a company project and took a rare few days of annual leave. She played video games until four in the morning, her eyes nearly giving out, before putting down her phone to sleep. She slept in a daze.
When Shen Hanzhi woke, she found herself not in her bedroom but wearing a wedding dress, standing on a ceremony platform for a wedding.
Shen Hanzhi frowned slightly, thinking she woke too abruptly and wasn’t fully awake. As she prepared to close her eyes to adjust and reopen them, an electronic mechanical voice suddenly appeared in her mind.
“Sweetie, no need to look. You died last night at 4:31 a.m. from staying up gaming, aged 28. Now, our Scum Alpha System chose you, and you’ve been revived in a small world,” the electronic voice said with a teasing tone, as if trying to lighten the mood.
Shen Hanzhi’s mind turned to mush. “Are you crazy? I’m perfectly healthy. How could I die from staying up?” she asked.
“Don’t doubt it, Host. Look at where you are and who’s standing beside you. As far as I know, you were single, right? If you hadn’t transmigrated into a book, would you have a wife?” the system continued chattering.
Shen Hanzhi didn’t want to talk anymore. The words weren’t too harmful but were highly insulting. So what if she was single? Even the system mocked her!
“Alright, enough nonsense. I’m sending you the original host’s memories and the book’s plot. Get used to it, finish the wedding, and sort out the plot later tonight when you’re back. I’m too lazy to explain,” the system’s mechanical voice droned on, making Shen Hanzhi’s head buzz.
As the system finished speaking, Shen Hanzhi felt a flood of memories not her own enter her mind. The original host visited the Wen family and fell for their youngest daughter, Wen Jin, at first sight.
The Wen Corporation was once a leading enterprise in Nandu City, but in recent years, it declined, overshadowed by newcomers in the city. The Wen family was rotten to the core in this generation, and the company barely stayed afloat, hemorrhaging money yearly while maintaining a facade of respectability.
After the original host took a liking to Wen Jin, she openly proposed marriage to Wen Jin’s father, Wen Hengqiu. Wen Hengqiu saw an opportunity to secure a five-million investment from the original host, as the Wen Corporation faced bankruptcy within months without it.
The two hit it off instantly. Wen Hengqiu was overjoyed. Wen Jin, his illegitimate daughter from an affair, was unwanted at home. Now, this useless girl could fetch five million, and Wen Hengqiu was more than willing.
Even knowing the original host wasn’t exactly proper and had ambiguous relationships with many Omegas, Wen Hengqiu didn’t care. He just needed to marry off his useless daughter for money.
Thus, the original host and Wen Jin’s wedding date was set quickly. The original host also promised to transfer five million to Wen Hengqiu’s personal account on the wedding day, essentially payment for selling his daughter.
Shen Hanzhi skimmed the book’s plot. After the marriage, the original host forcibly marked Wen Jin, then brought home lovers to taunt Wen Jin, who was pregnant. Wen Jin lost her child and was locked in the villa’s basement by the original host, turning completely dark. Later, the male lead, Liang Shuo, rescued Wen Jin. Together, they brought down the original host’s company, leaving her a madwoman on the streets.
Shen Hanzhi’s quick scan took mere seconds. She was about to place a wedding ring on Wen Jin’s finger.
This was Shen Hanzhi’s first time observing Wen Jin closely. The girl had fair skin and clear, bright eyes. Her raven-feather eyelashes fluttered gently, and a small dimple sat near the right corner of her lips. She looked obedient and adorable, like a little rabbit.
But thinking of the rabbit’s later descent into darkness, Shen Hanzhi hesitated to put the ring on. She wondered if she could still escape.
Just as Shen Hanzhi considered moving, an electric shock hit her central nervous system. What a thrilling sensation!
Shen Hanzhi’s face paled. She bent over, taking over ten seconds to recover as the buzzing in her head faded.
The girl opposite noticed her discomfort and asked timidly, “Sister, what’s wrong?”
“It’s nothing. Maybe I didn’t eat much this morning and have low bl00d sugar. Don’t worry,” Shen Hanzhi replied.
As she spoke, she stood upright quickly. The system’s mechanical voice rang in her mind again: “Warning, warning! The host must not act out of character, or you’ll be judged dead immediately. Also, starting today, the host must earn 1 Scum Alpha point daily. Only after accumulating 365 Scum Alpha points will the mission succeed, allowing you to live freely in this small world.”
Shen Hanzhi felt numb all over. “Why didn’t you say so earlier? I nearly got electrocuted to death just now,” she said.
“You didn’t ask, sweetie~” the system teased.
Shen Hanzhi cringed at the grating metallic voice’s attempt at charm. “Alright, stop it. Don’t go overboard,” she said.
She couldn’t let others notice anything. Running was no longer an option, or she’d face another shock. She had no desire to experience that sensation again.
Shen Hanzhi took the diamond-encrusted ring from the box, gently held the girl’s hand, and slowly slid the ring onto her ring finger.
Wen Jin stole several glances at Shen Hanzhi during the process. Seeing no impatience or disgust in Shen Hanzhi’s eyes, she breathed a slight sigh of relief.
She recalled Liu Fang’s advice and carefully took the other ring from the box.
Wen Jin snuck a glance at Shen Hanzhi and saw the sister looking at her with gentle eyes. Wen Jin’s ears turned red. She quickly lowered her gaze, obediently sliding the ring onto Shen Hanzhi’s right ring finger. This sister didn’t seem like a bad person, she thought.
