After Transmigrating Into a Book, I Was Forced to Play the Role of a Scumbag Alpha (GL) - Chapter 33
Chapter 33
Shen Hanzhi and Wen Jin hadn’t walked far when they encountered a group of familiar faces—Shen Hanzhi’s family members. Most of the Shen Corporation’s shares were held by the original Shen Hanzhi’s father, and after his death, they all passed to Shen Hanzhi. Her second and third uncles received only a few million in dividends each year, a concession Shen Hanzhi made for family’s sake, considering her grandfather was still alive. She couldn’t just kick her uncles out of the Shen Corporation.
However, these two uncles were restless, always scheming to join the company’s decision-making level with constant underhanded moves. The original Shen Hanzhi, out of respect for her grandfather, hadn’t touched them.
Shen Jianshe saw Shen Hanzhi approaching and smiled at her, then glared at Wen Jin. “Hanzhi, your third uncle and I were looking for you. President Fan from the Fan Corporation wants to meet you.”
Shen Hanzhi thought for a few seconds before recalling who President Fan was from the original’s memories. Fan Qingyuan of the Fan Corporation had good ties with the original’s grandfather and uncles, like family friends. Fan Qingyuan had only one child, a male omega, and the original’s uncles and grandfather wanted a marriage alliance between Shen Hanzhi and the Fan family.
In this world, alphas held the highest status. If the original Shen Hanzhi married Fan Qingyuan’s son, the Fan Corporation would essentially belong to the Shen Corporation. But the original moved quickly, marrying Wen Jin secretly without her grandfather’s knowledge.
It seemed her uncles still hadn’t given up.
Shen Hanzhi led the little girl forward. Shen Jianshe, seeing her still holding Wen Jin’s hand, looked displeased. “Hanzhi, we’re going to talk business. Why bring her? Isn’t she just a burden?”
Shen Hanzhi’s face turned cold as she looked at Shen Jianshe. “Little Jin is my wife. Second Uncle, you’d better speak respectfully.”
Shen Hanzhi didn’t lower her voice, and many around heard her. Shen Jianshe, feeling embarrassed, coughed lightly. “Hanzhi, how can you talk to me like that?”
Shen Hanzhi didn’t care for his act. She wasn’t the original. She didn’t care about second or third uncles, or even the original’s grandfather or mother.
“Shen Jianshe, you’re the one who needs to know your place. In settings like this, you should call me President Shen.” Shen Hanzhi gave him a cold glance, showing no mercy.
Shen Jiancai, seeing the situation escalating, stepped in, pulled Shen Jianshe aside, and smiled at Shen Hanzhi. “Hanzhi, your second uncle is just like that, stubborn and hot-tempered. You and Little Jin, bear with him. Don’t take it personally. Little Jin, you’re not scared, are you?”
Wen Jin stepped back, hiding behind Shen Hanzhi, and timidly replied, “No.”
“Good, don’t mind him. You don’t need to go over. President Fan is coming.” Shen Jiancai said with a smile. Compared to Shen Jianshe, the original’s third uncle was smoother and more tactful.
Fan Qingyuan and his son Fan Yifan approached, smiling. “Everyone’s here. Hanzhi, it’s been a while. Yifan often mentions you. Whenever our companies collaborate, Yifan insists on handling it just to see you. But I heard you haven’t been at the company much lately?”
Shen Hanzhi nodded lightly. The Fan Corporation ranked in Nandu City’s top ten but was still below the Shen Corporation. Fan Yifan had liked the original Shen Hanzhi, but she was only interested in female omegas and didn’t pay him much attention.
“Yes, Little Jin and I just got married. I want to spend more time with her.” Shen Hanzhi kept holding Wen Jin’s hand.
Fan Qingyuan looked at Wen Jin, his eyes full of disapproval. “Hanzhi, our families are old friends. When your father was alive, he and I were best friends. As your uncle, I must advise you: young people should prioritize their careers. The Wen family has fallen. Playing around with marriage is one thing, but are you taking it seriously?”
Wen Jin gripped Shen Hanzhi’s hand tightly, feeling scared. These people looked at her with the same disdain as Wen Xin and Wen Kai, clearly looking down on her. Did they not want her sister to be with her?
Shen Hanzhi glanced at Wen Jin, smiled at her, then turned back to Fan Qingyuan, speaking coldly. “No one in Nandu City is qualified to lecture me. President Fan, you’d better mind your son instead of acting superior here. I wasn’t interested in that southern city land, but since you’re so free, I might form a project team to compete for it.”
Fan Qingyuan’s smile froze. The old Shen Hanzhi had a bad reputation but respected her grandfather, never acting so harshly toward them. How did marriage change her so much?
Fan Qingyuan forced a smile. “President Shen, you’re joking. Who would dare lecture you? Oh, Yifan and I have matters to attend to. We’ll excuse ourselves.”
The Fan Corporation had long eyed the southern city land, reaching a tacit agreement with the Shen Corporation not to interfere. He didn’t want to lose it over a careless remark.
Having rebuffed Fan Qingyuan, Shen Jianshe and Shen Jiancai didn’t want to face Shen Hanzhi’s cold demeanor either.
“Hanzhi, you and Little Jin enjoy yourselves. Your second uncle and I have things to do elsewhere.” Shen Jiancai said, pulling Shen Jianshe away.
With those annoying flies gone, Shen Hanzhi’s mood improved slightly. She let go of the little girl’s hand, pulled her into her arms, and coaxed softly, “My little rabbit mustn’t be unhappy. I chased all the annoying flies away.”
Seeing Shen Hanzhi still comforting her gently, the little girl felt a bit relieved but, recalling some were Shen Hanzhi’s family, asked nervously, “Sister, your uncles don’t seem to like me.”
“It’s fine. Don’t treat them as uncles. They’re just bloodsucking leeches, not good people. Ignore their words. You’re my wife, the closest person to me.” Shen Hanzhi explained softly.
Hearing this, Wen Jin’s eyes smiled. She wanted to hug Shen Hanzhi but felt shy with so many people around.
Shen Hanzhi, tired of their nonsense, led the little girl to the dessert area. The banquet’s desserts were exquisitely made. She picked up a plate of rabbit-shaped treats and showed Wen Jin. “Look, isn’t it like you?”
The little girl’s ears turned red. Holding Shen Hanzhi’s wrist, she whimpered, “It’s not the same.”
Shen Hanzhi’s eyes sparkled with amusement. “True, it’s not as cute as my Little Jin. Shall we try this little rabbit?”
Shen Hanzhi scooped a spoonful and brought it to Wen Jin’s lips. The little girl ate obediently.
“It’s yummy, a milky rabbit.” The little girl said with bright eyes.
Shen Hanzhi’s eyes curved. She wanted to rub the little girl’s head but, mindful of her hairstyle, took a bite herself. It was quite tasty.
“Assistant Zhang, what are you looking at?”
“Oh, nothing, President Liu, go on.” Zhang Lilin’s attention was on Shen Hanzhi and Wen Jin, her face darkening. She hadn’t expected Shen Hanzhi to care for Wen Jin so much.
Shen Hanzhi sat with the little girl in the lounge area, eating happily. Most guests were drinking, leaving the desserts untouched, so she and the little girl enjoyed them on the sofa.
During the donation segment, all attendees sat in the venue. Each group announced their donation amount, followed by a photo session for the top twenty donors.
As Nandu City’s leading enterprise, the Shen Corporation donated the most. Shen Hanzhi led Wen Jin onto the stage. The little girl, nervous facing so many cameras, relaxed slightly with Shen Hanzhi holding her hand tightly.
At the Wen family’s old residence, Wen Xin stared venomously at Wen Jin on the TV broadcast. “That b1tch Wen Jin isn’t dead yet? Shen Hanzhi even brought her to this banquet?”
Wu Yan’s face darkened too. With the company struggling, she sold some luxury items to keep the residence running. Wen Jin, living freely, wore a custom gown and an expensive crown. What infuriated Wu Yan most was the photo session’s positioning.
Even in the Wen family’s prime, Wen Hengqiu and she never stood center stage. Now, that b1tch Wen Jin stood there.
“I shouldn’t have been so kind. When she was little, I shouldn’t have just locked her in a dog cage. I should’ve fed her to the dogs.” Wu Yan’s expression twisted, her stress pushing her to the edge, especially seeing Wen Jin on the broadcast.
Wen Kai looked at his mother and sighed. “Mom, does our Wen family have any chance to turn things around? Wen Jin’s living it up while we’re scraping by?”
“That fool won’t live well for long. I’ll make her pay.” Wu Yan said through gritted teeth.
When Shen Hanzhi and the little girl returned to the villa, it was past nine. The styling team waited, carefully removing their makeup. The accessories and clothes were kept, as Shen Hanzhi paid for them, with the little girl’s crown, worth over fifty million, being the priciest.
Shen Hanzhi showed the crown to the little girl. “The crown’s frame is platinum, studded with diamonds. It could buy Rose Manor.”
The little girl’s eyes widened as she examined the crown. “It’s that expensive? Sister, put it away safely.”
Shen Hanzhi poked the little girl’s dimple, laughing. “It’s for you. You keep it safe.”
“But it’s so expensive.” The little girl mumbled, looking at the crown.
Shen Hanzhi pulled the little girl into her arms, laughing. “Not expensive. It’s perfect for my little rabbit.”
“Sister.” The little girl, holding back all the way, finally threw herself into Shen Hanzhi’s arms to act spoiled.
While showering, Shen Hanzhi was nagged by the system several times. It was nearly ten, and she hadn’t earned her daily jerk points. She sighed, changed into pajamas, and headed to the little girl’s room.
She knocked lightly. “Little Jin?”
“Sister, come in.” The little girl was ready, knowing her sister hadn’t scolded her yet and would come.
Shen Hanzhi walked to the bed, seeing the little girl playing a matching game. It was late; she needed to act fast.
Closing her eyes, Shen Hanzhi steeled herself, frowned, and said sternly, “Didn’t I tell you to drink more water? How many cups did you drink today?”
Her harsh tone caught the little girl’s attention. Though Wen Jin knew Shen Hanzhi’s habit, her eyes reddened, tears falling. Her sister liked seeing her cry, and she understood.
Seeing the little girl cry, Shen Hanzhi pulled her into her arms, coaxing softly, “Don’t cry, don’t cry. My tone was bad. Did I scare my little rabbit?”
The little girl sniffled, burying herself in Shen Hanzhi’s arms. “Sister, do you not like me?”
Crying with grievance, the little girl made Shen Hanzhi coax her gently. “No, I love my Little Jin the most. Sister was wrong, okay?”
The little girl kept crying, sobbing. “Sister, comfort me.”
“I’m comforting you. Little rabbit, don’t be mad. Sister apologizes.” Shen Hanzhi rubbed the little girl’s lower back, speaking softly.
“That’s not enough.” The little girl rubbed her cheek against Shen Hanzhi’s neck. “I want a kiss.”
Shen Hanzhi pursed her lips, silent. She wondered if kissing the little girl too often was excessive.
Seeing her silence, the little girl cried harder, burying herself in Shen Hanzhi’s arms. “Wah, Sister doesn’t like me, doesn’t want to kiss me.”
Shen Hanzhi opened her mouth, hesitated, and felt guilty for scolding her daily. It was past ten; she needed to comfort the little rabbit quickly so she could rest.
“Okay, I’ll listen to my Little Jin.” Shen Hanzhi kissed the little girl’s right dimple.
The little girl, happily rubbing against Shen Hanzhi’s shoulder, thought she couldn’t let her sister off easily. She whimpered, looking at Shen Hanzhi. “Just one? Sister doesn’t want to comfort me. Sister doesn’t want me, wah.”
Crying pitifully, the little girl broke Shen Hanzhi’s heart. She hugged her tightly, coaxing, “No way, I’ll always take care of my little rabbit. Don’t cry, okay?”
Shen Hanzhi kissed the little girl’s left cheek and forehead, giving five or six kisses to ensure it was enough, and said softly, “Is this okay?”
The little girl, dazed by the kisses, wasn’t really sad, crying to play along with her sister’s habit. After several kisses, she couldn’t cry anymore, burying her face in Shen Hanzhi’s arms, whimpering, “Yes, Sister, I like you kissing me.”
The little girl said softly, knowing her crying made her sister pamper her.
As expected, Shen Hanzhi coaxed gently, “Good, I’ll kiss my little rabbit often, okay?”
“Yes, Sister, keep your word.” The little rabbit reminded, whimpering.
“Okay, I’ll do as my Little Jin says.” Shen Hanzhi kissed the little girl’s head, coaxing softly. The little girl enjoyed it, too comfortable to get up.
After comforting her a while, Shen Hanzhi saw the little girl had calmed and said softly, “Sleep early. You have class tomorrow, okay?”
“Okay.” The little rabbit looked at Shen Hanzhi, nodding obediently.
Seeing Shen Hanzhi leave, the little girl softly reminded, “Sister, you forgot the goodnight kiss.”
Shen Hanzhi returned to the bed, bent down, and kissed the little girl’s dimple. As she stood, the little girl hooked her neck, leaned up, and gave a soft kiss on Shen Hanzhi’s cheek. “Good night, Sister.”
“Good night, sleep early.” Shen Hanzhi chuckled, poking the little girl’s dimple. Her lips were so soft, kissing her cheek gently.
Shen Hanzhi shook her head with a smile, tucked the little girl in, and left.
As soon as Shen Hanzhi left, the little rabbit happily rolled on the bed. This cry was worth it; her sister kissed her several times. She loved that drama for teaching her so much.
Thinking, the little girl took her phone, opened the video app, and played the next episode.
In this episode, the senior and junior’s class went camping. Students brought tents, and during the day, the senior and junior acted unfamiliar, sitting far apart during games, as if they barely spoke.
After dinner, students started a game session. Someone brought a spinning wheel for Truth or Dare. The senior’s luck was poor, getting picked first.
The boy spinning the wheel smiled, asking, “Top student, truth or dare?”
The senior replied calmly, “Truth.”
The boy’s eyes lit up. “Among the classmates here, is there your ideal type?”
The senior nodded lightly. “Yes.”
Her answer caused a stir. The usually stoic, untouchable top student, their school’s flower, had an ideal type among them.
The senior glanced subtly at the junior, who was eating with a classmate, not looking at her. The senior’s eyes darkened.
After two more rounds, the senior was picked again. The students, curious, gathered to hear her gossip.
This time, a shy female omega spun the wheel, smiling at the senior and asking, “Top student, what’s your ideal type like?”
No one dared ask specifics, fearing the senior’s anger, but they were curious, asking indirectly.
The senior’s lips curved faintly, her gaze briefly sweeping over the junior, then retracting, saying calmly, “I like someone pure on the surface but bold and主动 privately.”
“Wow!”
Her words caused gasps. No one expected the lofty senior to like that type.
Across from her, the junior’s ears reddened, her legs weakening. “Sister’s bullying me again.”
The students played enthusiastically, but the senior wasn’t picked again. Soon, the camp teacher urged everyone to their tents, and the camp quieted.
Past eleven, the junior felt her tent’s zipper open. A familiar figure entered.
The senior calmly zipped the tent, moved to the junior’s side, and stared at her prey in the dim light.
Seeing the senior, the junior smiled, climbed onto her lap, hooked her arms around her neck, and whispered, “Sister, am I your ideal type?”
The senior’s eyes darkened, pulling the junior closer, kissing her lips. After a while, she released the breathless junior.
Her lips neared the junior’s ear, reminding softly, “Keep your voice down later, or classmates might hear.”
The screen went dark, leaving only hurried, restrained gasps. Seconds later, the camera shifted to the campfire outside.
The little girl watched intently. Though some parts confused her, she found the senior and junior dynamic exciting. The senior kissing the junior in her arms seemed to make the junior happy. The little girl rolled on the bed, wanting her sister to kiss her like that.
But the gasps and campfire confused her again. Fresh from learning pinyin, she didn’t know metaphors.
After the episode, the little girl, satisfied, hugged her blanket and fell asleep.
The next morning, Shen Hanzhi woke the little girl early for class with Lu Wenzhu.
She went to the company, where Zhou Danqing had handled her tasks. Shen Hanzhi chose two from over twenty interviewees, vetted their backgrounds, confirmed they were clean, and hired them as her secretaries.
She took them to Zhang Lilin. “Secretary Zhang, Wang Qiao and Li Xiao are my secretaries now. Have them assist you and learn the company’s processes quickly.”
Zhang Lilin’s face darkened. Shen Hanzhi hadn’t mentioned hiring new secretaries, which felt like distrust, placing spies to watch her.
Forcing a smile, Zhang Lilin said, “President Shen, did I make a mistake? Why hire two more secretaries suddenly?”
“No, your work is flawless. You just have too much on your plate. It’s hard on you. Let these newcomers help. Don’t overthink.” Shen Hanzhi said with a smile.
“Okay, President Shen. I’ll show them around.” Zhang Lilin said reluctantly.
“Go ahead.” Shen Hanzhi returned to her office. She had briefed the new secretaries to master their tasks quickly, as she planned to clear out a group from the company in a month or two.
Closest to Zhang Lilin were Tian Wenchu and his son Tian Lei. Tian Wenchu was in the decision-making level, and Tian Lei was a project manager. They frequently contacted Zhang Lilin privately. Shen Hanzhi disliked family-style operations—having a father in the company was enough, but bringing in a son was too much. They were leeches to remove.
Her second and third uncles were also trouble and needed to go, as she had no familial ties with them.
While thinking, her phone rang. The contact read “Grandfather.”
Shen Hanzhi chuckled lightly. Someone must have reported last night’s events to the original’s grandfather.
She didn’t answer immediately, letting it ring four or five times before picking up.
“Shen Hanzhi, you’ve grown bold, ignoring the Shen family’s survival.” An angry old voice questioned through the phone.
Shen Hanzhi, unruffled, replied calmly, “Grandfather, you’re joking. If I ignored the Shen family, would you still live comfortably in your suburban villa with so many caretakers?”
“You’re trying to kill me! I raised your father with hard work and built the Shen Corporation. Is this how you treat me? How can you treat your uncles like that?”
“I’ve been kind enough. Without me, trash like them would be begging on the streets.” Shen Hanzhi continued, her fingers tapping the desk lightly, completely relaxed.
